Change the per-player vehicle limit in the BeamMP server’s ServerConfig.toml. Stop the server, open the [General] section, set MaxCars to an integer of 1 or more, save the file, and restart the server. BeamMP then removes any vehicle a player tries to spawn beyond that limit.
What the MaxCars setting controls
MaxCars is BeamMP’s per-player vehicle limit. It controls how many vehicles one player may have spawned at the same time; it is not a limit on the entire server’s vehicle population. The setting belongs in the [General] section of the server’s ServerConfig.toml file.

BeamMP accepts any integer value of 1 or greater. If a player attempts to spawn another vehicle after reaching the configured number, the additional vehicle is deleted instantly. A value of 1, therefore, permits one vehicle per player. A value of 5 permits five per player.
This setting is separate from MaxPlayers. MaxPlayers controls how many players the server can accommodate; it does not increase or decrease the number of vehicles each individual player may spawn.

Before editing: identify the active configuration file
The setup guide places ServerConfig.toml beside BeamMP-Server.exe in a typical installation. However, the BeamMP manual makes the server’s working directory the deciding factor. The file that matters is the one in the working directory used by the running server process, even if another copy exists elsewhere.
- Find the directory from which the BeamMP server is actually launched.
- Look for
ServerConfig.tomlin that working directory. - If the server is started by a service, script, container, or management panel, verify that its configured working directory points to the directory you are editing.
- Avoid changing a similarly named backup, download, or unused installation directory.
Editing the wrong copy is the most common reason a correctly written value appears to have no effect. Treat the working-directory rule as authoritative rather than relying only on the location of the executable.
Change MaxCars permanently in ServerConfig.toml
A TOML edit is the normal persistent method. The value remains in effect after a server restart until you change it again, or until a higher-precedence setting is supplied through the environment.
Step 1: take the server offline
Stop the BeamMP server, or otherwise take it offline, before changing its configuration. Editing while the process is active can leave players connected during a settings change and can make it unclear which value the process has loaded. Wait until the server has stopped before saving the file.
Step 2: open the active ServerConfig.toml
Open the ServerConfig.toml file in the server’s working directory with a plain-text editor. The filename is case-sensitive in the sense that you should preserve the spelling used by the installation, and the setting name must be written exactly as MaxCars.
Step 3: locate the [General] section
Find the section header [General]. Place the setting under that header. If a MaxCars line already exists, edit its number rather than creating a second line with the same key.
Step 4: enter an integer value
For example, this configuration allows five vehicles per player:

[General]
MaxCars = 5Use a whole number of 1 or greater. Do not use a decimal, a quoted string, zero, or a negative number. The documented accepted range starts at 1.
Step 5: save the file
Save the file in TOML format, retaining the [General] header and the exact key spelling. If your editor offers a choice of file types, use plain text rather than a word-processing format.
Step 6: start or restart BeamMP
Start the server again, or restart it if you stopped it temporarily. BeamMP reads the persistent value when the server starts. Players who connect after the restart will be governed by the new limit.
How BeamMP enforces the limit
The limit is applied per player, not as a shared pool. If MaxCars = 5, each player can have up to five vehicles under the setting. Five players do not share a five-vehicle allowance; each player is evaluated against the same per-player maximum.
When a player attempts to exceed the configured number, BeamMP deletes the additional vehicle instantly. The behavior is therefore an enforcement rule, not merely a recommendation shown in a menu. A player may be able to issue a spawn request, but the vehicle above the limit will not remain in the world.
Because the setting is per player, changing it does not alter the server’s player capacity. If your goal is to admit more people, examine the separate MaxPlayers setting instead. If your goal is to reduce vehicle clutter or resource use created by each participant, change MaxCars.
Choosing a value for your server
BeamMP does not impose a documented maximum beyond the requirement that the value be an integer of at least 1. The practical choice is an administrative one: decide how many simultaneously spawned vehicles your server should permit per player, then enter that number.

The table describes the rule, not a performance benchmark. The documentation does not establish a universal “best” value for every map, mod set, or hardware configuration. Choose a value that matches your server’s operating policy, then observe whether players encounter the deletion behavior when they exceed it.
Alternative ways to apply the limit
BeamMP offers two alternatives to directly editing the persistent TOML value. They differ in persistence, operational context, and version requirements.

Environment-variable override: BEAMMP_MAX_CARS
On BeamMP Server version 3.2.0 and later, set BEAMMP_MAX_CARS to the desired integer in the environment used to launch the server. The manual states that environment variables override values in ServerConfig.toml. Consequently, if the TOML file says MaxCars = 5 but the process environment supplies BEAMMP_MAX_CARS as 2, the environment value takes precedence for that launch.
This approach is useful when the server is managed through process or container configuration and you want the setting outside the file. It also explains why editing the TOML file may appear ineffective: an existing environment variable can deliberately replace it. Check the launch environment whenever the observed value differs from the file.

After changing it, restart the server so the new process receives the updated environment. Use an integer of 1 or greater, just as you would in the TOML file.
Temporary Lua plugin change
A server Lua plugin can call MP.Set with the MP.Settings.MaxCars identifier to change the setting at runtime. This is a scripting option rather than a replacement for the persistent configuration procedure.
Use it when an automated server rule needs to adjust the limit during a running session. Document the plugin’s behavior for other administrators, because a runtime value can differ from the value written in ServerConfig.toml. A plugin change should also be treated as temporary: the TOML file is not automatically rewritten by the runtime call, and the value may not survive a restart unless the plugin applies it again.

Verify that the new value loaded
After restarting, verify the result with a controlled test rather than assuming that saving the file was sufficient.
- Confirm that the server restarted after the edit or environment change.
- Connect with a player account.
- Spawn vehicles one at a time until reaching the configured number.
- Attempt to spawn one additional vehicle.
- Observe that the vehicle above the limit is deleted instantly.
For example, with MaxCars = 5, the first five vehicles should be allowed under the setting, while an attempted sixth vehicle should be removed immediately. The test demonstrates the enforcement behavior without confusing the per-player limit with the number of connected players.
If you use an environment override, perform the test after launching the server with that variable present. If you use a plugin, perform it while the plugin is active and account for the fact that the change is runtime-only.

The wrong file was edited
Recheck the server’s working directory. The file beside an executable is a normal layout, but the working directory determines which ServerConfig.toml BeamMP actually reads. Service definitions, launch scripts, and container settings can make the active directory different from the directory you opened manually.
The server was not restarted
A saved TOML value is not enough if the existing process has not loaded it. Stop and start the BeamMP server after saving, then repeat the controlled spawn test.

Use the exact spelling MaxCars and place it under [General]. A differently cased or differently named key is not the documented setting. Also check that the line is not accidentally nested under another section header.
An environment variable is overriding the file
For BeamMP Server v3.2.0 and later, inspect the process environment for BEAMMP_MAX_CARS. The manual gives environment variables precedence over the TOML file. Remove or change an unintended variable, restart the process, and test again.

The value is outside the supported range
Use an integer of at least 1. Zero and negative values are not documented as supported, and a decimal or quoted value does not represent the required integer setting. Replace an invalid value with a valid whole number and restart.
A plugin is changing the runtime value
If the file and environment are correct but the observed limit still differs, check server Lua plugins for calls to MP.Set using MP.Settings.MaxCars. A plugin can change the setting temporarily while the server is running, so review plugin configuration and startup order before changing the TOML file again.
The wrong setting was changed
MaxPlayers and MaxCars solve different problems. Changing the player-capacity setting will not change how many vehicles one player may spawn. Return to the [General] section and verify that the key being changed is MaxCars.
Operational practices for administrators
Make one change at a time
When diagnosing a limit, change only one source at a time: the TOML file, the environment, or a plugin. If you edit the file and alter the launch environment simultaneously, you cannot tell which value BeamMP loaded. Record the chosen value and the source that supplies it.
Keep the persistent policy understandable
Even if you use an environment override or plugin, keep the TOML value meaningful for administrators who open the server directory later. A clear baseline reduces confusion, while documentation should identify any higher-precedence environment variable or runtime script.
Plan maintenance around the restart
The persistent procedure requires the server to be stopped or restarted. Warn connected players before maintenance, save any separate server-management work, and bring the server back online only after the file has been saved. The MaxCars value is then applied consistently to new and reconnecting players.

Use the smallest limit that meets the server’s purpose
Because every player receives the configured allowance, a high value can permit many vehicles across a busy session. The documentation does not provide a universal performance threshold, so administrators should select a policy value deliberately rather than assuming that a larger number is always better.
