To change a Soulmask server map, stop the server, replace its map setting, save the configuration, and start it again. Cloud Mist Forest uses Level01_Main; Shifting Sands uses DLC_Level01_Main. Shifting Sands also requires DLC ownership for every player who joins. Each map keeps a separate save, so changing maps does not erase the other map’s progress.
What you are changing
Soulmask selects the world from a launch parameter. The default world, Cloud Mist Forest, is identified by Level01_Main. The Egypt-themed Shifting Sands DLC world is identified by DLC_Level01_Main. A hosting panel may show friendly names instead of these strings, but it ultimately writes one of these values into the server startup configuration.

Changing the value does not merge worlds. A restart loads the selected map and its corresponding save. To return to the previous world, set its parameter again and restart.
Before you switch the map
Map changes affect everyone who uses the server, so prepare before editing the setting.

- Announce a maintenance window. Players may be disconnected when you stop the process, and unsaved activity can be lost.
- Record the current setting. Write down whether the server is using Cloud Mist Forest or Shifting Sands and preserve the current launch command or panel value. This gives you a reliable rollback.
- Confirm DLC ownership. Every person connecting to Shifting Sands needs the DLC; ownership by the server owner or host alone is not sufficient.
- Wait for a clean stop. Use the panel’s Stop control or shut down the dedicated-server process normally before editing files or startup values.
- Check the panel’s terminology. Providers use different labels, such as Map, Map variable, Settings, or Commandline Manager. Do not assume a field named World, Scenario, or Save selects the map unless its description says so.
- Warn players about character behavior. Published guidance conflicts on whether a map switch prompts for a new character or offers an import from another save. Do not promise that an existing character, inventory, or base will appear unchanged.
Change the map in a hosting panel
This is the simplest method when your provider exposes a map selector. The exact labels and location vary, but the safe sequence is the same:
- Open the server’s control panel and choose Stop. Wait until the status shows that the process has stopped.
- Open the configuration area that controls startup arguments. Look for a field called Map, a map selector, a Startup variable, or a command-line manager.
- Select the destination world. Choose Cloud Mist Forest for
Level01_Mainor Shifting Sands forDLC_Level01_Main. - Save or apply the configuration. If the panel displays the generated command line, check that the selected map is present and that no old map value remains in a second field.
- Start or restart the server. Do not judge the result until the process has finished loading and the panel reports it as online.
- Connect with an administrator account first. Confirm the world name and inspect the expected save before announcing that the server is open to everyone.
Examples of provider-specific panel paths
These examples illustrate the wording used by several hosting services; your panel may use different labels.

- Shockbyte: stop the server, open the Config tab, set the desired map, save, and restart.
- Oxygenserv: stop the process, edit the Map variable in the Startup tab, then restart.
- EmeraldHost: open the panel’s Settings menu and select the map value, save it, and restart.
- Pingperfect: stop the server, open Commandline Manager, select the Shifting Sands option (or the corresponding map option), apply the command line, and start the server.
If a selector offers both a map name and a raw parameter, use the selector and then verify the resulting value. A saved form that was never applied to the startup command will not change the world.
Change the map on a self-hosted server
On a self-hosted installation, the map is supplied as the first map argument when the dedicated server starts. Stop the running instance, edit the script, shortcut, service definition, or scheduled task that launches the server, and replace the old map value.

Windows launch command
For Shifting Sands, the documented pattern is:
WSServer-Win64-Shipping.exe DLC_Level01_Main -serverFor Cloud Mist Forest, use the same command with Level01_Main in place of the DLC map parameter:
WSServer-Win64-Shipping.exe Level01_Main -serverThe executable name, working directory, and any additional options must match your installation. Do not remove other arguments your server needs; change only the map argument. Save the script, start the process, and watch its console output for a normal map load rather than an immediate exit.

Where self-hosted administrators commonly need to edit
- A Windows batch file used by an administrator or restart script.
- A desktop shortcut’s Target field.
- A Windows service wrapper’s executable arguments.
- A scheduled task action that launches the dedicated server.
- A container or orchestration definition that passes startup arguments.
Changing a temporary command in a console window will not persist if an automated service later restarts the server with the old value. Update the source used by the automation, then perform one controlled restart.
What happens to saves, bases, and characters
Map saves remain separate
Each map has its own save file. Switching from Cloud Mist Forest to Shifting Sands starts or resumes the Shifting Sands save; it does not convert the Cloud Mist Forest save. Switching back to the original parameter restores the earlier Cloud Mist Forest progress, provided the save files have not been manually removed or overwritten.

This separation is useful for testing, events, or a temporary visit to the DLC world, but it also means that buildings, storage, resources, and map-specific progression do not automatically follow players between worlds.
Character transfer is not consistent across published guidance
Two accounts describe different behavior. EmeraldHost documentation says players are prompted to create a new character when the map changes. A paraphrased official Steam community Q&A says that, when creating a new map, a player can carry a character over from another save, but only character data transfers; buildings and resources do not.

Treat a character import prompt as optional, not as proof that the old world has been copied. Back up the existing saves and tell players that bases and stored materials will stay on their original map.
Shifting Sands DLC requirements and timing
Every player connecting to a Shifting Sands server must own the DLC. A player who lacks it may be unable to join even when the host owns it and the server starts successfully.

Most documentation places Soulmask’s 1.0 release on 10 April 2026 and describes a free Shifting Sands claim period ending 10 May 2026. That claim window had ended by 14 October 2026. Availability, pricing, and distribution can change, so check the current platform listing before scheduling a map change around the DLC. Do not treat the former claim period as a current entitlement.
Run both maps at the same time
A single server process can load one map at a time. If players must travel between Cloud Mist Forest and Shifting Sands while both worlds remain online, operate a cluster containing two server instances: one configured with Level01_Main and the other with DLC_Level01_Main.

That arrangement is different from simply switching a parameter. It requires a second server allocation or machine, separate configuration and save locations, and a cluster setup that the game and host support. If you only need occasional access to the other world, stopping the first server and changing its map is the less complex option.
Verify the new map after restarting
Do not rely solely on a panel saying “online.” Use this verification sequence:

- Confirm the startup field or generated command still contains the intended map parameter.
- Wait until the server finishes its normal startup and is visible to clients.
- Join with an administrator account that owns the required DLC if you selected Shifting Sands.
- Check recognizable terrain or the in-game world indicator to make sure you are in the intended map rather than an old client session.
- Inspect the map’s expected save state. A fresh world may be empty of structures even though the server is working correctly.
- Ask one ordinary player to connect only after the administrator test succeeds, then verify that the player also meets the DLC requirement.
Troubleshooting map changes

How to roll back safely
Rollback is the same operation in reverse:
- Stop the server and wait for the process to exit.
- Set the map back to the parameter recorded before the test.
- Save the panel configuration or launch script.
- Restart and verify the original world with an administrator account.
- Tell players which map is live and remind them that the other map’s save remains separate.
If the original world does not appear, stop again and check that you are using the same save directory and server installation as before. A map switch should not require deleting either save; deleting files turns a configuration change into a data-recovery problem.
Which method should you use?

For a one-time event, a panel switch is usually less error-prone. For repeatable testing, keep a documented launch script with the two valid map values and a rollback procedure. For a community that wants continuous access to both worlds, plan the cluster before promising travel between them.

- Choose the destination map and record its parameter.
- Confirm that Shifting Sands players own the DLC.
- Back up or otherwise preserve both existing saves.
- Notify players of the stop and expected downtime.
- Stop the server cleanly.
- Change the panel field or first launch-command argument.
- Save the configuration and ensure no second startup definition will overwrite it.
- Restart and verify the world with an administrator account.
- Test character behavior before relying on any transfer promise.
- Publish the live map and the rollback plan to your players.
Key limitations to communicate to players
A map switch is not a world merge or a character migration service. It selects which map-specific save the server opens. Players may see a character-creation prompt, and any supported character carry-over does not include buildings or resources according to the official Q&A summary. Shifting Sands access also depends on DLC ownership for each individual player. Clear communication on those points prevents most reports that the switch “deleted” a base or “broke” a character.
