Change the cycle in the world’s SandboxSettings.ini file. Set DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier to a value from 0.1 to 3.0, stop the server before saving, then restart it. Use DayNightCycleState only when you want to lock the world to permanent day or night; a locked cycle can prevent time-dependent items or events from appearing.
Which setting controls the cycle?
Abiotic Factor stores the world’s day-and-night configuration in SandboxSettings.ini. The main control is DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier. Its default is 1.0, which is the normal clock rate. Higher values make the in-game clock run faster; lower values make it run slower.

The speed multiplier affects the clock itself. It does not change unrelated cooldowns or respawn timers, so increasing the value will not make every timed system in the game run faster.
Choose a moving cycle or a permanent state
Use a speed multiplier when you still want day and night
Use DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier when the server should continue alternating between day and night. For example, 2.0 requests a clock running at twice the normal rate, while 0.5 requests half the normal rate. The setting is relative to the default rather than a fixed number of real-world minutes, so it is useful when you want the cycle to feel faster or slower without removing either phase.

Keep the value between 0.1 and 3.0. A value near the lower end produces a very slow cycle; a value near the upper end produces a very fast one. If you want the normal behavior again, return it to 1.0.
Use a state lock only for an intentionally static world
DayNightCycleState=1 locks the world to day, and DayNightCycleState=2 locks it to night. DayNightCycleState=0 restores the normal cycle. A state lock is not a way to make one phase longer; it removes the transition to the other phase entirely.

If you lock the server to one state, players may be unable to obtain content that requires the missing phase. For a regular survival server, a multiplier is generally the safer choice. Reserve a permanent state for a deliberate scenario, testing session, building period, or other case where the trade-off is understood.
Before editing the server
- Make sure you can access the world’s files through your host’s file manager, SFTP interface, or equivalent storage tool.
- Identify the save name of the world you intend to change. A server can contain more than one world folder.
- Stop the server completely before opening and editing the file. Host guides report that changes made while the server is running can be overwritten when it saves or restarts.
- Keep a copy of the original file or note the existing values so you can roll back quickly.
- Use a plain-text editor. Do not use a word processor that adds formatting or changes punctuation.
Setting names and file locations can change with game patches or hosting-panel updates. If your panel presents a different folder layout, use the panel’s current world-file browser and confirm that you are editing the SandboxSettings.ini belonging to the active save.

Change the cycle on a hosted server
1. Stop the server
Open the host control panel and issue its normal stop command. Wait until the status shows that the process has stopped before editing. Do not rely on a browser tab closing or a console becoming quiet; the important condition is that the server is no longer running.
2. Open the world’s SandboxSettings.ini
The typical hosted-server location is:

Open that file in the panel editor or download it, edit it locally, and upload it again using the host’s supported file workflow.
3. Find the day/night key
Search the file for DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier. Edit only the number after the equals sign. A normal speed entry looks like this:

DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier=1.0To double the clock rate, for example, change it to:
DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier=2.0Use a decimal point, not a comma, and do not add quotation marks. Keep the key spelling and capitalization exactly as shown. If the key is not present, first verify that you opened the active world’s file and not a different save or configuration file. Hosts can expose different directory views, so check the panel documentation before creating a new entry.

Save the edit as plain text with the filename SandboxSettings.ini. Do not rename the file, save it as .txt, or replace equals signs with another separator. If you downloaded the file, upload the edited copy back to the same world folder and confirm that the upload completed before proceeding.
5. Restart the server
Start the server from the host panel and allow it to finish loading. The setting is read when the world starts, so a restart is required after the file change. Joining immediately while the server is still initializing can make it appear that the edit failed.

6. Verify the result in-game
Enter the world and watch the clock through at least part of a transition. A speed change should alter the pace of the normal cycle, not independently shorten unrelated cooldowns or respawn timers. If you selected a state lock, check that the world remains in the requested phase rather than waiting for a transition that will no longer occur.

Keep electrical sockets on at night
PowerSocketsOffAtNight is a related sandbox option. Set it to True to turn sockets off at night, or False to keep them powered during nighttime. This key changes nighttime socket behavior; it does not change the length or speed of the day/night cycle.
PowerSocketsOffAtNight=FalseChange this option in the same world configuration file, stop the server before saving, and restart afterward. If your objective is only to keep power available overnight, adjust this key rather than accelerating the entire clock.

The server was still running during the edit
This is the first thing to check. Host guides report that a running server can write its current configuration back over your manual edit. Stop the server, make the change again, save, and then restart.

The wrong world file was edited
Compare the folder name with the save loaded by the server. The expected structure places each world under Worlds/<Save Name>. Editing a different world’s file will not alter the world you join.

The value is outside the accepted range
Use a number from 0.1 through 3.0. If you entered a value outside that range, replace it with an in-range value and restart. Use the exact key DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier; a misspelling creates a setting the game will not recognize.
The file format changed during editing
Open the saved file again and confirm that the line still uses the form Key=Value, that the decimal uses a period, and that the filename remains SandboxSettings.ini. Re-upload the plain-text file if your editor or upload process changed the extension.
A state lock is being mistaken for a slow cycle
Check DayNightCycleState. A value of 1 or 2 deliberately prevents normal transitions. Set it to 0 when you want the multiplier-controlled cycle back.
You expected other timers to change
DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier controls the day/night clock only. Cooldowns and respawn timers are not changed by this setting, so their unchanged timing is expected.

The documented approach is direct file editing. Sandbox settings cannot be changed from the server console, so entering a console command will not replace the SandboxSettings.ini edit. Use the world file, then restart the server for the value to be loaded.
Safe rollback procedure
- Stop the server and wait for the stopped status.
- Open the same world folder used for the original change.
- Restore the prior value, or set
DayNightCycleSpeedMultiplier=1.0andDayNightCycleState=0to return to the normal cycle. - Review
PowerSocketsOffAtNightseparately if nighttime power was also changed. - Save the plain-text file, start the server, and verify the cycle in-game.
If you kept a backup, restore only the relevant configuration file rather than replacing unrelated save data. That limits the rollback to the day/night and sandbox settings you intended to change.

Practical recommendations for a shared server
- Tell players whether you are changing speed or removing a phase; the two options have different effects on exploration and time-dependent content.
- Prefer a multiplier for a long-running shared world so both day- and night-dependent content remains available.
- Record the old value before each edit, especially when several administrators manage the same server.
- Make one configuration change at a time. If the result is unexpected, isolating the last edit is easier than diagnosing several simultaneous changes.
- After a game patch or host-panel migration, re-check the file path and setting names because the available labels and locations can change.
