To change Samsung Wallet’s swipe-up behavior, open Wallet, go to Menu or All, tap the Settings gear, and choose the relevant control. Under Quick access, you can decide where the swipe-up gesture works and whether Wallet uses a default payment card. Under Notifications, you can control alert categories, sound, and lock-screen details.
Samsung’s screens and labels can vary by Galaxy model, software version, carrier, and region. Use the tab and gear names as landmarks rather than expecting every screen to match exactly. The steps below follow Samsung’s published support instructions for the United States unless a regional distinction is noted.
Change where the Samsung Wallet swipe-up gesture works
Quick access is Wallet’s swipe-up shortcut. You can allow it on the lock screen, home screen, and while the screen is off, or disable only the location where it opens accidentally. That lets you keep the gesture in convenient situations without leaving it enabled everywhere.

Open Samsung Wallet.

Tap Menu, then tap the Settings gear. On some versions, related controls may be grouped under Quick access and default card.

Tap Quick access, then Swipe up gesture.

Turn Lock screen, Home screen, and Screen off on or off according to where you want the gesture to work.

If available, adjust the handle-transparency slider to change how visible the swipe handle is.
Samsung’s US Wallet instructions document these controls. Samsung UK describes the accidental-launch fix as Wallet > Menu > Settings > Quick access, then switching off the shortcut that is causing the problem. If Wallet opens when you swipe on the home screen, for example, disable Home screen rather than turning off every entry point.

The handle-transparency control changes how visible the swipe handle is; it is a visibility adjustment, not a substitute for disabling a gesture location that keeps launching Wallet accidentally. If you do not see one of these switches, check for the alternate Quick access and default card label or a different tab layout. Samsung cautions that Wallet settings can vary by device model, software version, carrier, and region. Its UK instructions, updated January 22, 2025, also describe disabling an unwanted Quick access shortcut.
Choose a default payment card and manage the cards shown
The swipe-up locations and the card Wallet presents are separate settings. You can change where Quick access works without changing the card selection, and you can set a preferred payment card without enabling every gesture location.

Samsung says the last-used card appears by default unless you choose a default card. That means a fixed default is useful if you want Wallet to start with the same payment card, while leaving the setting off allows the last-used card to appear instead. The choice is about which card Wallet presents, not about where the swipe gesture is available: a default card does not require you to enable the lock screen, home screen, or screen-off shortcut. Samsung’s US FAQ covers the last-used-card behavior.
If your Wallet has several payment cards, a fixed default can reduce the need to choose a card each time you open Quick access. The last-used option may be preferable if you intentionally switch between cards and want the most recently used one to appear. Samsung’s wording indicates the latter is the default behavior when the user has not selected a default; it does not mean you must set a fixed card.
Some Wallet versions also let you choose which cards appear in Quick access and change their order. These card-list controls are separate from setting a default payment card: the list determines which cards are presented in Quick access and in what order, while the default option selects the preferred payment card. The Samsung Philippines support page explains these regional card-list controls and describes a limit of up to 40 cards for that regional version. Do not treat that number as a universal Wallet limit: the available cards and organization can differ by region and version. Change Samsung Wallet notifications and lock-screen privacy
Wallet’s in-app notification settings let you adjust whether alerts are enabled, how they behave, and what appears on the lock screen. Turning off a notification category stops alerts from that category; hiding lock-screen content is different—it retains the alert but conceals its details on the lock screen. This distinction is useful if the goal is privacy rather than silence: you can keep notifications on while reducing what someone can read from the lock screen.

Open Samsung Wallet and tap All.

Tap More options (the three vertical dots), then Settings.

Under General, adjust the overall notification switch and choose whether alerts should sound, vibrate, or be silent, where those options are shown.

Set the notification types you want, such as lock-screen notifications, badges, and pop-ups.

Review the category switches and turn off only categories you do not want to receive.
Samsung’s US notification guide lists examples of categories including Payments, Coupons, Cash Back, and Samsung Money by SoFi. Other categories may appear for Wallet items such as digital keys. Which categories you see depends on what is available in your Wallet and on your device.
There are several levels of adjustment. The overall notification control affects Wallet notifications generally. Category switches let you keep some types of alert while stopping others. Sound, vibration, or silent behavior changes the way enabled notifications call for attention. Lock-screen content controls what details appear when a notification is shown there. Badges and pop-ups control other ways alerts can be presented where those options are available. If you only want fewer interruptions, try changing the alert behavior or a specific category rather than assuming that hiding lock-screen content will stop notifications altogether.

If the app does not show the category or presentation control you need, check the phone’s system notification settings for Samsung Wallet as well. Android can provide another layer of notification controls, but the exact route and labels are not established as identical across Galaxy models. Samsung’s documented in-app route is the most consistent starting point in the instructions cited here. Do not assume that every Wallet category listed on one device will appear on another; categories can depend on the Wallet items and services in use.
Turn off boarding-pass alerts
To disable boarding-pass notifications going forward, use Wallet > All > Settings > Notifications and switch off the boarding-pass notification option if it appears. Samsung’s US FAQ says this applies to boarding-pass notifications going forward, rather than only to one trip. Do not confuse that category preference with hiding the content of a lock-screen alert: the former disables that type of alert, while the latter changes what an enabled lock-screen notification reveals. If you still want boarding-pass alerts for future trips, keep the category enabled and use the lock-screen content setting instead if privacy is the concern.
What to do if a card or account looks compromised
A Wallet setting is not a substitute for responding to suspicious payment activity or an account-access problem. Changing the swipe gesture or muting alerts does not reverse a payment, and changing notification visibility does not itself secure an account. Handle the underlying issue with the card issuer or Samsung, depending on what appears wrong. Avoid treating an alert setting as a security response: make the appropriate contact even if you have already hidden or disabled notifications.

To find the issuer’s contact information through Wallet, open the card’s details page and look for Customer Service.

Follow the issuer’s instructions for the card and transaction. Wallet’s Quick access and notification controls are not payment-dispute or card-account remedies.
Samsung’s US FAQ directs users with suspicious card activity to contact the bank immediately and identifies the card details page’s Customer Service route as a way to find bank contact information. The issuer, rather than a gesture or alert switch, is the right first contact for a transaction you do not recognize.
Possible Samsung Account access
Samsung states that a Samsung Account is required for Wallet, that two-factor authentication is mandatory for login, and that a login on a new device triggers an email. Its FAQ also points users to account settings to review logged-in devices and to Samsung Support for suspected unauthorized access. If you are concerned about an account, review the devices associated with it and contact Samsung Support rather than relying on a Wallet notification toggle. A new-device email and device list are account-monitoring points Samsung identifies; they do not replace contacting Support when access appears unauthorized.

Samsung’s published directions do not imply one fixed Wallet layout across all Galaxy phones. In the US gesture directions, the relevant starting tab is Menu; in the US notifications directions, it is All. If your app differs, use the tab containing Wallet’s settings, then look for the gear and the setting name rather than following an exact screen position from another device.

Still cannot find the switch? Check Samsung’s support instructions for your region and device. The names, grouping, and availability of settings can vary with carrier, model, software version, and region.
As a practical check after changing a setting, return to the situation you were trying to change: try the swipe location that previously opened Wallet, or review a Wallet notification to confirm whether its lock-screen content is still visible. If a control is absent or named differently, avoid assuming it has been removed universally; Samsung documents that settings and screen layouts can vary. Look for the related label in Wallet, check system notification settings for notification behavior, or consult Samsung’s local support page for your model and region.
