Godlike.Host offers hosted Conan Exiles servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
Change Conan Exiles’ day length in the server’s ServerSettings.ini file. Under [ServerSettings], adjust DayCycleSpeedScale for the whole 24-hour cycle, or use DayTimeSpeedScale, NightTimeSpeedScale and DawnDuskSpeedScale for individual periods. Stop the server before saving, restart it afterward, and test one change at a time.
Which settings control the day-and-night cycle?
Conan Exiles uses multipliers rather than a setting that directly says “make the day 30 minutes.” The values in ServerSettings.ini change how quickly the in-game clock moves through the cycle. A higher multiplier makes that segment pass faster; a lower multiplier makes it last longer.

Use the master setting when you want the whole clock to run at a different pace. Use the segment settings when you want, for example, normal-length days but shorter nights. Do not change every multiplier at once unless you have a specific reason: stacking them makes the resulting speed difficult to predict.
Where to find ServerSettings.ini
On a Windows dedicated server, the commonly reported location is:

ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerSettings.ini
The time-of-day entries belong beneath the [ServerSettings] heading. The exact folder presented by a hosting provider can differ by server build and control panel, so verify the path shown for your installation rather than creating a second file in a similarly named directory. No Funcom-maintained document confirming a universal path or default file was identified.

If your provider offers a configuration-files panel, the file may be exposed there instead of through a traditional file manager. A panel can also rewrite the file when the server starts, so make changes in the panel’s copy when that is how your host manages configuration.
Before you edit: protect the current configuration
- Record the current values of all four time settings. Defaults reported by community sources conflict, so your existing file is the authoritative starting point for your server.
- Make a backup copy of
ServerSettings.ini, or at least paste the original lines into a dated text file. - Tell players the server will be unavailable while it is stopped. A running server can overwrite a file when it shuts down.
- Change one value first. A single-variable test makes it possible to tell whether the setting was accepted and whether the result is what you wanted.
Use ordinary decimal notation such as 1.0 or 2.0. Preserve the existing spelling and section structure. If a key is already present, edit that line rather than adding a duplicate elsewhere in the file.
Change the setting on a hosted server
Control panels use different names, but the safe sequence is consistent:
- Open the hosting control panel for the Conan Exiles server.
- Choose the server’s configuration-files editor, file manager or equivalent option.
- Stop the server completely and wait until the panel reports that it is offline.
- Open
ServerSettings.ini. If the panel provides several configuration files, select the one containing the[ServerSettings]section. - Find the relevant key, for example
NightTimeSpeedScale=1.000000. - Change only the value you intend to test. For a common shorter-night experiment, leave the other values unchanged and set
NightTimeSpeedScale=2.0. - Save the file through the panel. Do not close the editor before it confirms the save.
- Start or restart the server.
- Join the game and observe at least one transition before making another change.
Some panels regenerate configuration from separate sliders or templates. If your edit disappears after a restart, use the panel’s own setting for day, night or cycle speed, or check whether a startup configuration is overwriting ServerSettings.ini.

Edit the file directly on a dedicated server
For a server you administer yourself, use the following process:
- Stop the Conan Exiles server service or process cleanly.
- Navigate to
ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerSettings.ini, adjusting the root path to match your installation. - Copy the file as a backup before opening it.
- Open it in a plain-text editor.
- Locate
[ServerSettings]. Keep each time setting in that section. - Edit one multiplier, save the file, and close the editor.
- Start the server and connect as an administrator or player who can observe the in-game clock.
Do not rename the file, change its extension, or paste the settings into a client-side configuration file. These values affect the dedicated server’s simulation; changing a local copy does not change a hosted world.
Choosing values for the result you want
Make the entire cycle faster or slower
Change DayCycleSpeedScale while leaving the segment values at their current settings. Increasing the master value makes the 24-hour cycle complete sooner. Decreasing it makes the cycle take longer. Because the master value is combined with segment multipliers, note all four values before calculating or comparing results.
An older community settings file shows DayCycleSpeedScale=10.000000, while many newer community references list 1.0. That disagreement is why copying a value from another server is unsafe: first inspect the value actually stored in your file.
Make nights shorter without changing normal daylight
Leave DayCycleSpeedScale and DayTimeSpeedScale unchanged, then increase NightTimeSpeedScale. A frequently shared example is:
DayCycleSpeedScale=1.0
NightTimeSpeedScale=2.0
This is a popular configuration example, not an official default. It asks the night segment to run at twice its previous speed relative to that segment. Test it in your own build because the master multiplier and transition handling affect the observed result.

Make nights longer
Reduce NightTimeSpeedScale below the value currently in your file, while leaving the other settings unchanged. Do not assume that 0.5 will always produce a precisely measured twofold increase in real-time night length; community reports do not establish a universal formula or duration for every server version.
Change daylight only
Adjust DayTimeSpeedScale and keep the master, night and dawn/dusk values fixed. A higher value shortens daylight. A lower value extends it. Community material places daytime roughly between 07:00 and 16:59 in game time, but the exact boundaries and how transitions are counted should be treated as approximate.

Change dawn and dusk transitions
Use DawnDuskSpeedScale when the problem is the length of sunrise or sunset rather than the main daylight or night periods. Because the transition may be grouped with night by some implementations, change this setting separately and observe both transitions before deciding whether it has the desired effect.
What are the default values?
There is no single verified default table that can safely be applied to every Conan Exiles server build. The available community references disagree:

Read the values in your own file before changing them. If a control panel shows a different value from the file, treat the panel as a possible override and test which one persists after restart.
How long is a Conan Exiles day?
Published community estimates conflict, and no official Funcom timing specification was verified. One Steam guide estimates roughly 15 real-time minutes of daytime and 10 minutes of nighttime at its stated defaults. A hosting guide describes a default full cycle of about one real-time hour at a 1.0 speed. Those figures cannot both be treated as universal defaults.

If precise scheduling matters, measure your own server instead of converting an estimate. Record the real time when a recognizable in-game hour begins, then record when the same point in the next cycle occurs. Repeat once after changing only one multiplier. This gives you a local baseline without assuming that another build uses the same defaults.
Understanding stacked multipliers
DayCycleSpeedScale is described by a community-maintained wiki as the master speed for the whole cycle and as being applied in addition to the segment multipliers. In practical terms, a non-default master value can alter the result of a day, night or transition value that you also changed.
For predictable troubleshooting, use one approach at a time:
- For a globally faster or slower clock, change only
DayCycleSpeedScale. - For different day and night behavior, keep the master at its current baseline and change one segment value.
- For a transition-specific experiment, change only
DawnDuskSpeedScale.
Do not infer an exact real-time duration from the numeric multiplier alone. The conflicting community timings and uncertain transition boundaries make measurement on the target server more reliable than a formula copied from another configuration.

- Confirm the server was stopped when the file was edited.
- Reopen the file after saving and check that the new value is still present.
- Restart the server fully rather than merely reconnecting a client.
- Observe the in-game clock through the segment you changed. For a night setting, compare the start and end of darkness; for a day setting, compare daylight; for dawn/dusk, watch the transitions.
- Write down the real-time duration and the exact values used.
- If the result is wrong, restore the backup or revert the one changed value before trying another adjustment.
Testing one value at a time also reveals whether a hosting panel is rewriting the file, whether the server is reading a different configuration path, or whether the observed timing is being attributed to the wrong segment.
Troubleshooting common problems
The setting has no effect
- Check that the key is under
[ServerSettings], not in an unrelated section. - Confirm that you edited the dedicated server’s file, not a local client file.
- Stop and restart the server after saving; a live process may still be using its previous values.
- Verify that the control panel did not restore an older copy during startup.
- Recheck spelling and capitalization of the key name.
The value changes back
Make the edit through the hosting provider’s configuration editor if it supplies one. A startup template, slider or synchronization feature may regenerate ServerSettings.ini. Save, restart, and then reopen the file to see which value the server actually retained.

The cycle is much faster or slower than expected
Inspect all four multipliers, including values you did not intend to change. A master value inherited from an older configuration can combine with a segment value and produce an unexpected result. Restore the backup, establish a known baseline, and change only one setting.
Dawn or dusk does not match the day setting
That behavior is consistent with the uncertainty around transition handling. Test DawnDuskSpeedScale independently and record whether the change affects sunrise, sunset, or both. A forum user reported that dawn and dusk seemed to count toward night, but this is not a confirmed rule for all server builds.

Players report different timing from your test
Ask everyone to test on the same server restart and compare a complete transition rather than a partial segment. Client-side observations made after joining at different points in the cycle can make the duration appear inconsistent. Keep a written record of the server build, configuration values and measured interval.
Recommended change workflow
For most administrators, the least error-prone method is:
- Back up the current
ServerSettings.ini. - Read and record the existing values; do not assume they are all 1.0.
- Decide whether you need a global change or a single-segment change.
- Stop the server.
- Edit one key under
[ServerSettings]. - Save, restart and measure the result in game.
- Keep the tested value only if it produces the intended schedule; otherwise restore the backup and try a different single value.
This workflow matters more than any copied “best” number because default values, transition treatment and real-time durations vary among community-reported server configurations.
