On a Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings → Advanced features → Bixby → Language and voice style. Choose a language, then return to the same screen and choose a voice style. The lists you see depend on your Galaxy model, Bixby version, operating-system version, country or region, and the language selected.
Language and voice style are separate settings
Bixby keeps the language it understands and the voice it uses under one menu, but they are independent controls. Language changes the language options presented for Bixby interaction. Voice style changes the available speaking voice for the selected language.
Changing one does not guarantee that the other will change in the way you expect. A language may have only one built-in voice style on your device, while another language may offer several styles or a downloadable option. Your phone or tablet displays only the combinations supported by that particular Bixby release and device.
What you need before changing Bixby
- A Galaxy phone or tablet with Bixby available.
- Access to the device’s Settings app, or the ability to open Bixby and ask it to open Bixby Settings.
- A supported language and, if wanted, a supported voice style for your model, region and Bixby version.
Samsung notes that settings and language options can vary by country or region, language, Galaxy model and operating-system version. Therefore, two Galaxy devices can show different lists even when they are running the same general version of Android.

How to change Bixby’s language
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features.
- Tap Bixby.
- Tap Language and voice style.
- Tap Language.
- Select one of the languages displayed on your device.
The displayed list is the authoritative list for that device. If the language you want is not shown, it is not currently offered through that Bixby installation under the device’s present software, region and model conditions.
After selecting a language, return to Language and voice style to review the voice styles associated with it. Do not assume that a voice available for one language will also be available after you switch to another.
How to change Bixby’s voice
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features, then Bixby.
- Open Language and voice style.
- Tap Voice style.
- Select the desired style from the choices shown.
Some devices can download a voice or create a custom voice, but Samsung does not make those capabilities universal. If your screen offers a download or creation option, follow the on-screen Galaxy Store download or update flow. If it does not appear, your device, Bixby version, language or region may not support it.
If you cannot find “Language and voice style”
Menu names and locations can differ between Galaxy models and software versions. Use either of these supported alternatives:

- Open Bixby by pressing and holding the Side/Bixby button, or by opening the Bixby app, and ask Bixby to open Bixby Settings.
- Open Settings and use its search field to search for Bixby.
These routes can take you to Bixby’s settings even when the menu is not located exactly under Advanced features on your device.
Choosing the right setting for common situations

This distinction helps diagnose a “wrong language” complaint. If Bixby understands or responds in the wrong language, inspect Language. If the language is correct but the speaker sounds different from your preference, inspect Voice style instead.
Use Bixby itself to reach the setting
The Settings route is the clearest method, but Bixby can navigate to its own settings. Press and hold the Side/Bixby button, or open the Bixby app, then ask Bixby to open Bixby Settings. Once there, open Language and voice style and make the language or voice-style selection.
This is particularly useful when a software update has moved the Bixby entry or when your model does not show the same Advanced features layout described in Samsung’s US and Canada support instructions.

Why your device may show different languages or voices
The choices are not a universal catalog shared by every Galaxy product. Samsung identifies several variables that affect availability:
- Bixby version: Samsung states that available settings and language options may vary by the version of Bixby.
- Galaxy model: Hardware and software support can differ between phones and tablets.
- Operating-system version: A system update can change the location of a setting or the options exposed in it.
- Country or region: Samsung can provide different language and voice support in different markets.
- Selected language: Voice styles are tied to the language currently selected, so switching languages can change the voice-style list.
Consequently, the absence of a language or voice style is not, by itself, evidence that the setting is broken. It may simply be unsupported in the current combination of device, software, location and language.
Troubleshooting: the language or voice you want is missing
The Bixby menu is missing
Use Settings search for Bixby. If search does not lead to the control, open Bixby directly and ask it to open Bixby Settings. The exact menu placement can vary by model and software version.

The language does not appear
Only languages supported by that device’s Bixby version are listed. Check that you are viewing the Language list inside Language and voice style, rather than the separate voice-style list. If the language is still absent, Samsung’s documented explanation is variation by Bixby version, location, language, model and operating-system version; the menu does not provide a way to add an unlisted language manually.

The voice style does not appear
First confirm that the desired language is selected. Then reopen Voice style to see the styles supported for that language. A voice style available in another language may not be offered here. If Samsung indicates that a style can be downloaded, complete the Galaxy Store download or update flow shown on the device. A download or custom-voice control is not guaranteed on every Galaxy device.
The available list differs from another Galaxy device
Compare the devices’ Galaxy models, Bixby versions, operating-system versions and regions before treating the difference as an error. Samsung explicitly says these factors can change the available settings and language options.
Bixby still sounds wrong after changing the language
Return to Language and voice style and check both controls. The language selection and voice-style selection are separate. Confirm that the intended language is selected first, then choose a voice style that is listed for that language. If the expected style is not listed, it is not supported in the current configuration.

Custom voices and downloads
Some Galaxy devices expose a custom-voice feature or a downloadable voice style. These are optional capabilities, not baseline requirements for changing Bixby’s language or choosing a built-in style.

- Open Settings → Advanced features → Bixby → Language and voice style, or reach Bixby Settings through Bixby itself.
- Choose Voice style.
- If a download or custom-voice option is shown, follow the device’s instructions.
- Complete any Galaxy Store download or update that the feature requests.
- Return to the voice-style list and select the installed style.
If no custom-voice or download control appears, do not treat that as a failed installation. Samsung says availability varies, so the feature may not be enabled for your model, region, language or Bixby version.
Using Bixby with Galaxy Buds
Supported Galaxy Buds models can use Bixby on the connected phone through voice controls configured in Galaxy Wearable. In this arrangement, the phone remains the device running Bixby; the earbuds provide the supported voice-assistant interaction.
- Verify that your particular Galaxy Buds model is supported.
- Connect the Buds to the Galaxy phone that has Bixby configured.
- Complete the voice-assistant setup in the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Change Bixby’s language and voice style on the phone using Language and voice style.
Earbud support does not create additional Bixby languages or voice styles. The same device, software, language and region limits apply. If the Buds do not respond to a voice command, check model support and Galaxy Wearable setup before changing Bixby’s language.

A practical verification checklist
Use this checklist after making a change or when diagnosing an unexpected voice:
- Open Language and voice style and confirm the selected Language.
- Open Voice style and confirm the selected style belongs to that language.
- Check whether the voice is built in, downloadable or a custom option on your device.
- If the menu is absent, reach Bixby Settings through Bixby or Settings search.
- If an option is missing, account for the Galaxy model, Bixby version, operating-system version and region.
- For Galaxy Buds, confirm that the model is supported and that voice-assistant controls are configured in Galaxy Wearable.
What the setting can and cannot change
Changing Bixby’s language and voice style changes Bixby’s own interaction options. It does not promise that every Galaxy feature, third-party application or connected accessory will support the same language. The lists inside Bixby are the reliable indication of what your current device configuration supports.
If the required language or voice is listed, select it directly. If it is not listed, use the available choice or check the setting again after a Bixby or operating-system update; Samsung’s support guidance does not guarantee availability across all models, regions or software versions.
