To change the name other devices see for your Samsung Galaxy phone, open Settings > About phone > Edit, enter the new name, and tap Done. If you mean a paired accessory’s name in your phone’s Bluetooth list, open that device’s Bluetooth settings instead; it is a separate change.
Change the name your Galaxy phone shows over Bluetooth
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Tap Edit.
- Enter the name you want your phone to use.
- Tap Done.
Samsung says the phone’s name is visible when connecting through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The menu can vary by model and software version, so if you do not see About phone > Edit, search Settings for Device name. Some devices show About device or About tablet followed by Device name. Samsung Philippines Support and Samsung UK Support describe these phone-name settings and note that screens can differ.
Rename a paired Bluetooth accessory
To change how headphones, a car system, or another already-paired device is labeled in your Galaxy phone’s Bluetooth list, use the accessory’s entry—not the phone-name setting:
- Open Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
- Tap the gear icon beside the paired device.
- Tap Rename.
- Enter the new name and tap Rename to confirm.
This changes the paired accessory’s name in the phone’s Bluetooth settings, not the name the Galaxy phone presents to other devices. The detailed steps above are from Samsung US support; Samsung UK also documents a gear-and-rename flow. Samsung US Support and Samsung UK Support.
