To cancel residential Spectrum Internet, call 855-757-7328 or send hardcopy written notice to Spectrum, 2 Digital Place, Floor 4, Simpsonville, SC 29681. Spectrum’s residential terms say cancellation takes effect after Spectrum receives the request—not merely when you decide to stop using the service. Ask for the effective disconnect date, document the confirmation, return every leased device and power supply, and monitor the next billing-cycle statement. Do not assume your final month will be prorated.
Use a documented cancellation channel
Spectrum’s Residential General Terms and Conditions of Service, listed as effective October 7, 2026, identify two formal ways to terminate a recurring residential service:
- Phone: call 855-757-7328.
- Hardcopy notice: mail written notice to Spectrum, 2 Digital Place, Floor 4, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
The terms state: “To terminate any recurring Service, Subscriber must call 855-757-7328, or provide a hardcopy written notice of termination to Spectrum at 2 Digital Place, Floor 4, Simpsonville, SC 29681.” They also state that “Subscriber-requested termination will be effective after the date Spectrum receives such request.”

Phone versus written notice

If avoiding another monthly charge is your priority, submit the request early enough for Spectrum to receive it by the last day of your current subscription period. A call can be faster; a mailed notice gives you a physical paper trail. You may use both, but make clear that the second contact confirms the first rather than creating conflicting dates.
Check your billing cycle before choosing the disconnect date
Find the service-period dates on your latest statement. The relevant deadline is the last day of the current monthly subscription service period, not necessarily the calendar month’s last day and not necessarily the date your payment is withdrawn.
Spectrum’s terms say: “Unless Subscriber cancels Service on or before the last day of the current monthly subscription service period, Subscriber will be charged in full for Services for the next monthly subscription service period.” The terms also describe responsibility for the full monthly subscription charge when service is terminated before the period ends, subject to applicable-law restrictions and exceptions in the terms.

Accordingly, do not promise yourself a prorated refund. Public information does not establish that every account receives a daily prorated credit, and the exact result can depend on your account, billing period and any applicable exception. Ask the representative to state:
- the current subscription-period start and end dates;
- the date Spectrum will treat as the effective disconnect date;
- whether a full next-period charge will be created under your account’s timing;
- which balance, credits or pending charges will appear on the final statement; and
- whether any equipment remains associated with the account.
Write those answers down while you are cancelling. If the answer conflicts with your statement, ask for an explanation before ending the call.

Step-by-step: cancel by phone
- Read the latest statement. Note the billing-period end date, account number and service address.
- Prepare account details. Have the account holder’s name, service address, phone number and any security information Spectrum uses for verification.
- Call 855-757-7328. Say clearly that you are terminating residential Internet service, not merely pausing it or changing the plan.
- Request a specific effective date. Ask the representative to confirm whether the date is based on the current billing period and when Spectrum records receipt of your request.
- Ask about bundled services. If your account also has voice or other services, identify exactly which service is ending. Voicemail access ends on the Internet disconnection date, according to Spectrum’s support guidance.
- Confirm equipment obligations. Ask for the equipment list and whether any item is already marked for return.
- Get confirmation. Record the confirmation number, representative’s name or ID if supplied, the effective date and any return instructions.
- Save evidence. Keep the statement, your notes and confirmation until the final bill is settled and all equipment is shown as returned.
Step-by-step: cancel with a hardcopy letter
The terms require hardcopy written notice but do not prescribe a particular form. Make the letter unambiguous and give Spectrum enough information to identify the account.
Include these details
- Account holder’s full name.
- Spectrum account number, if available.
- Complete service address, including apartment or unit number.
- A telephone number or email address associated with the account.
- A direct statement that you are terminating residential Spectrum Internet service.
- Your requested effective disconnect date.
- A request for written confirmation of the received date, effective date, equipment obligations and final-billing process.
- Date and signature of the account holder.
Mail it with proof
Send the notice to Spectrum, 2 Digital Place, Floor 4, Simpsonville, SC 29681. Keep a complete copy. Use a mailing method that provides a dated receipt and delivery or receipt evidence, because the terms tie effectiveness to when Spectrum receives the request. Do not rely on the date written on the letter or the date you place it in the mail.

Return every leased device and its power supply
After cancellation, check the equipment list on your account or ask the representative to read it to you. Spectrum’s guidance identifies modems, routers, receivers and auxiliary equipment as examples of leased items. Return each Spectrum-owned item and the supplied power supply that belongs with it.
Do not discard equipment because it is old, damaged or no longer working. Spectrum’s return instructions direct customers to take such equipment to a Spectrum Store or The UPS Store. An unreturned-equipment charge may be added, but the official guidance reviewed does not state one universal fee amount.

Choose a return route

Before handing anything over, photograph the device labels and serial numbers. This is a practical record, not a substitute for the store receipt or tracking record. Keep the proof until the account shows no equipment balance and the final statement is resolved.
Spectrum Fiber exception
If you have Spectrum Fiber, do not return the Spectrum Optical Network Unit (SONU) or its universal power supply cord. Spectrum’s equipment instructions say the SONU must remain plugged in and operational at the premises. Confirm the Fiber-specific instructions with Spectrum rather than applying the ordinary modem-and-router procedure.
Hawaii exception
Spectrum’s post-disconnection guidance says Hawaii has a different equipment-return process. Customers in Hawaii should follow the dedicated local instructions instead of assuming that the general store, UPS or home-kit process applies.
Understand the final statement
Spectrum says the final statement is issued in the next billing cycle and may include outstanding charges, including usage-related amounts. A further statement may arrive if equipment is still listed as unreturned. Cancellation does not erase a legitimate balance that was incurred before disconnection.

- Check the service dates covered by the final Internet charge.
- Compare the effective disconnect date with the date Spectrum recorded receiving your request.
- Look for equipment charges and match them against store receipts or tracking records.
- Check any remaining usage or other outstanding charges.
- Save the statement after payment or dispute resolution.
If a charge appears wrong, contact Spectrum promptly and provide the confirmation number, billing statement, delivery proof and equipment receipt. Ask the representative to identify the contractual or account event that produced the charge. Keep notes of the date, department and promised correction. If the issue is not resolved, request escalation and retain copies of every document.
Back up Spectrum email before access ends
Spectrum’s support guidance says Spectrum email access continues for 60 days after Internet disconnection. Treat that as a deadline, not permanent access.
- Sign in to the Spectrum mailbox while it remains available.
- Export or forward messages you need to retain.
- Save contacts and any attachments stored only in the mailbox.
- Change the email address on banking, shopping, employment, health, government and other important accounts.
- Tell people and organizations that still use the Spectrum address how to reach you.
- Verify that password-reset messages arrive at the replacement address before the 60-day period ends.
If your account included voice service, Spectrum says voicemail access ends on the disconnection date. Save important messages before service is disconnected.

Do not wait for the next statement
A statement shows the billing period but does not itself cancel service. Submit the request through the phone or hardcopy channel and obtain the effective date.
Do not confuse payment date with service-period end
Your automatic-payment date may be different from the last day of the monthly subscription period. Use the service dates printed on the statement and ask Spectrum to confirm them.

Do not assume equipment is “free to keep”
Leased equipment remains a return obligation even if you bought your own replacement device or the Spectrum hardware is not working. Return it unless Spectrum specifically identifies it as an exception, such as the Fiber SONU.
Do not rely on an unverified web-only cancellation
Spectrum’s public support page directs customers to sign in to view cancellation options, but the available material does not establish that an online action alone completes termination. Use the terms-listed phone number or hardcopy notice and retain proof of receipt.
Do not throw away return evidence
A tracking number, dated store receipt and photographs of serial numbers can resolve an equipment dispute far more easily than a recollection of what was handed over.
A complete cancellation checklist
- Read the latest statement and mark the monthly subscription-period end date.
- List every Spectrum-owned device, accessory and supplied power supply.
- Choose a cancellation channel: 855-757-7328 or hardcopy notice to the Simpsonville address.
- Submit early enough for Spectrum to receive the request by the desired deadline.

Those steps address the main sources of surprise charges while preserving the records you need if Spectrum later shows a balance or equipment fee.
