To stop the next automatic Mint Mobile plan payment, turn off Auto Renewal in your account at least 24 hours before the listed renewal date. In the Mint Mobile app, go to Account > Payment > Payment method, then switch Auto Renewal off. You can make the same change after signing in at mintmobile.com/login. Turning off the setting does not refund a plan you already paid for or end that prepaid term immediately.
What turning off Auto Renewal actually does
Auto Renewal controls whether Mint Mobile automatically charges your saved payment method for the next plan term. Mint’s terms say that when you enroll, automatic plan-fee payments continue until you cancel Auto Renew. The setting is about future renewals; it is not the same as canceling a plan that has already been paid for.
Mint uses 30-day service cycles for its standard plans. A 12-month plan can use 30- or 31-day cycles, for a total term of up to 365 days. The amount charged at renewal can change if you change plans or if Mint changes prices after giving notice. The applicable terms are published in the Mint Mobile Terms & Conditions.
Because the plans are prepaid, disabling Auto Renewal generally leaves the current paid term in place. It stops the account from automatically buying the next term only when the change is completed by Mint’s deadline. You can continue using service through the end of the paid period, then decide whether to renew manually or let the account lapse.

If you switch Auto Renewal off successfully, your current prepaid service normally remains available through the end of its paid term. You then choose whether to renew manually. If you do nothing, the account can move into suspension after the plan expires.
Before you change the setting
Find the exact renewal date
The Mint Mobile app displays your renewal date. Mint also says it sends text and email notice 30 days before an automatic renewal. Check the date rather than relying on memory, especially if you have changed plans, changed the length of your term, or recently replaced a payment method. A 30-day notice is a reminder, not the cancellation deadline; the operative cutoff is still at least 24 hours before the scheduled renewal or end of the payment cycle.
Check payment status and the next due date
Sign in to the Mint app or website and review the payment status and next due date. Mint’s payment-help guidance explains that these details are available after logging in. You can also use the payment-failure and missed-renewal help page if a payment is already showing as failed or overdue.
Allow more than the minimum lead time
Mint’s terms and help pages require the change at least 24 hours before the end of the payment cycle or scheduled renewal date. Make the change earlier whenever possible. The extra time lets you sign in again, confirm the switch stayed off, and contact support if the account does not update. If you are already inside the 24-hour window, treat the renewal as potentially scheduled and ask customer care to review it rather than assuming the switch will stop the charge.
Decide whether you need uninterrupted service
Auto Renewal off is useful when you want control over the next purchase, but it also means you must remember to renew manually if you want continuous service. Put the displayed expiration or renewal date on your calendar. If you need the line for work, travel, two-factor authentication, or another important purpose, leave enough time to make a manual payment before the plan expires.
Turn off Auto Renewal in the Mint Mobile app
- Open the Mint Mobile app and sign in.
- Tap Account in the bottom-right corner.
- Scroll to the Payment section.
- Tap Payment method.
- Switch Auto Renewal off.
- Remain on the account screen long enough to confirm that the control now shows Auto Renewal disabled. Reopen the screen or sign in again if the status is unclear.
After the switch is off, note the renewal date shown in the account. If you intend to keep service, set your own reminder to renew manually before that date passes. Disabling the setting does not create a credit for the current term.
Turn off Auto Renewal on the Mint website
- Open Mint’s account sign-in page.
- Sign in with the credentials for your Mint Mobile account.
- Open the payment or payment-method settings where Auto Renewal is displayed.
- Turn Auto Renewal off.
- Refresh the account page and verify that the setting remains off and that the listed renewal date is the one you expect.
The app and website manage the same account preference. Use whichever access point is available, but do not assume the change worked until the account shows the new state. If one interface appears stale, check the other and contact Mint rather than repeatedly changing settings without confirming the result.

Use customer care when the setting is unavailable
Mint’s terms list customer service at 800-683-7392 for canceling Auto Renew or reviewing payment preferences. Call if you cannot sign in, the control is missing, the page will not save the change, or the renewal is less than 24 hours away and you need the account status reviewed.
When contacting support, have the account information needed to identify your line and explain whether you are asking to stop a future renewal, investigate a charge that already occurred, or discuss a current service cancellation. Those are separate requests and can have different outcomes. Ask the representative to confirm the Auto Renew status and the next due date so you know what was actually changed.
The 24-hour cutoff and what happens if you miss it
Mint says an Auto Renewal preference change or cancellation must be made at least 24 hours before the end of the payment cycle for the change to take effect. Its help article describes the same deadline as at least 24 hours before the scheduled Auto Renewal date, and the FAQ frames it as at least 24 hours before the next plan renewal date. The Mint Mobile FAQ includes the question, “How do I cancel auto renewal payments?”
If you make the change inside that 24-hour window, do not assume the upcoming charge has been stopped. Check the account immediately and contact customer care at 800-683-7392 to ask whether the payment is already scheduled. Turning off the switch after a charge has been initiated is not a promise that the charge will be reversed.

A text or email reminder arriving 30 days ahead gives you time to act, but it does not replace verifying that the preference saved successfully.
What happens after Auto Renewal is off
Your paid term continues
Switching off Auto Renewal does not instantly shut off a plan that you have already paid for. The service remains governed by the end date of that plan term. You can use the remaining service and later renew manually if you change your mind. A completed renewal charge and a prepaid term are separate from the account preference controlling the next cycle.
The account can enter suspension after expiration
Mint’s auto-renewal help article states: “If you turn off Auto Renewal and do not manually renew your plan before it expires, your account will go into suspension.” Suspension is the consequence of allowing the paid term to end without a successful renewal; it is not the same event as disabling the setting.

Long suspension can lead to cancellation
Mint’s terms say that after at least 60 days without a successful plan renewal while the account is suspended, the account may be canceled. After cancellation, Mint may reassign the telephone number, and you may be unable to transfer it. If keeping the number matters, arrange any desired transfer before the account reaches cancellation. The published guidance does not provide a universal port-out sequence, so confirm the requirements with Mint and the provider you plan to use.
Manual renewal is a separate transaction
Turning Auto Renewal off does not prevent you from buying another plan manually. If you decide to stay with Mint, sign in before expiration, review the plan and price presented, and complete the renewal yourself. Because plan length and pricing can affect the amount due, check the transaction details rather than assuming the next payment will match the last one.

How to avoid an unexpected renewal charge
- Check the date first. Record the renewal date displayed in the app or account.
- Act earlier than 24 hours before it. The cutoff is a minimum requirement, not a reason to wait.
- Disable the setting through the app or website. Follow the exact account path and save the change.
- Verify the status. Sign in again and make sure Auto Renewal still shows off.
- Review payment status. Look for a pending, completed, or failed transaction and confirm the next due date.
- Decide what happens to service. If you need the line to remain active, plan a manual renewal before expiration.
- Protect a number you need to keep. Do not allow the account to remain suspended for 60 or more days without resolving renewal or transfer plans.
- Keep the tasks separate. Stopping future billing, ending service, transferring a number, and requesting a refund are different actions. Verify which result you actually want before contacting Mint.
Auto Renewal cancellation is not a refund request
Mint’s terms generally state that plan fees are not refunded unless a law or the applicable return policy requires it. Therefore, turning off Auto Renewal prevents a future automatic renewal only when the change is made in time; it does not refund the prepaid term you already bought.
A separate published return policy can provide a full refund and cancellation for a qualifying new wireless-service activation within seven calendar days of activation when the purchase was made directly from Mint.com and the refund request form is submitted. Mint’s FAQ indicates that the seven-day guarantee also applies to purchases made through its app, while purchases made through other sellers can follow different procedures.
Because purchase channel, activation date, and eligibility matter, use the current Mint Mobile return policy for the request process. Do not treat the seven-day rule as a general refund promise for an established plan or for a renewal charge. If a renewal has already posted, ask Mint what remedy applies to that transaction instead of assuming the new-activation guarantee covers it.

The Auto Renewal switch is missing
Sign in through the website and check the payment settings there. If the control is still unavailable, call 800-683-7392 and ask customer care to review the Auto Renew preference. Keep a record of when you requested the change, especially if the renewal date is close.
The switch appears off, but you are still worried about a charge
Refresh the account, sign in again, and confirm both the setting and the listed renewal date. Then check payment status for a pending or completed transaction. If the account changed less than 24 hours before renewal, contact customer care because the cutoff may prevent the change from applying to the upcoming cycle.

A renewal charge has already posted
Disabling Auto Renewal after the charge does not automatically reverse it. Review the plan terms and the return policy to see whether your activation and purchase channel qualify for a refund, or contact Mint to ask what remedy applies to that transaction. Keep in mind that a refund request and a request to stop future renewals should both be addressed if you no longer want another charge.
You forgot to renew and service is suspended
Sign in to check the account’s status and next due date, then renew manually if you want to restore service. The longer the account remains suspended without a successful renewal, the greater the risk of cancellation under the 60-day term in Mint’s conditions.

You want to leave Mint but keep your phone number
Turning off Auto Renewal alone does not transfer or reserve your number. Make any desired transfer arrangements before the account reaches cancellation. Once Mint cancels the account, its terms say the number may be reassigned and may no longer be transferable.
You changed plans or expect a different amount
Renewal amounts may vary when you change plans or when Mint changes prices after notice. Review the plan, term length, and amount shown in the account before a manual renewal. If an automatic payment already occurred and the amount is unexpected, check the payment details and ask customer care to explain the transaction.

You only want to stop the next charge

You want service to end when the paid term ends
Disable Auto Renewal and do not manually renew. Monitor the account so you know when the plan expires and enters suspension. If the number is not important, you can allow the account to follow Mint’s suspension and cancellation rules; if it is important, make transfer arrangements before cancellation becomes possible.
You were charged and believe you qualify for a refund
Separate the refund question from the Auto Renewal setting. Confirm when the service activated, where you bought it, and whether the seven-calendar-day policy applies. Then follow the return-policy instructions or contact Mint for account-specific guidance.

You need more time to decide
Turning off Auto Renewal preserves the choice to renew manually later, provided you act before the plan expires. Write down the expiration date and check the account periodically. If you leave the account suspended, remember that Mint’s terms allow cancellation after at least 60 days without a successful renewal.
