Cancel an Al Jazeera subscription through the provider that bills it: use Settings > your name > Subscriptions for Apple-billed subscriptions, or open Google Play subscriptions for subscriptions billed through Google Play. The phone with the app installed does not, by itself, tell you which service manages the payment. If you cannot find the subscription, check the account used for the purchase and the payment receipt to identify the billing provider.
This guide follows the Apple Support and Google Play Help cancellation instructions current as accessed on October 13, 2026. It explains how to locate and cancel a subscription, what to check when it is missing, and what cancellation does—and does not—tell you about charges or refunds.
Cancel by the billing provider
The cancellation route depends on where the subscription was purchased and billed, not simply on which phone has the app installed. Apple’s instructions apply to subscriptions billed through Apple; Google Play’s instructions apply to subscriptions billed through Google Play. The public Al Jazeera app listings do not identify how an individual subscription is billed, so do not choose a cancellation route just because you use an iPhone or Android phone.
Start with the service that processed the payment. If you know where you subscribed, use that provider’s subscription settings. If you are unsure, check the purchase receipt or the provider named in the charge details. Then sign in to the account used for the purchase and look for the Al Jazeera entry there.

The third row is a troubleshooting direction, not a claim that Al Jazeera uses a particular alternative billing route. The available public app listings do not establish an Al Jazeera-specific alternative payment arrangement. If neither Apple nor Google Play shows the subscription, use the receipt or charge details to identify who handled the transaction instead of guessing.
Cancel an Apple-billed subscription on iPhone
- Open Settings on the iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen to open the Apple Account settings.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Look through the subscriptions associated with that Apple Account and select the Al Jazeera subscription, if it appears.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and follow any confirmation prompts until the cancellation is complete. The button may be farther down the subscription screen, so check below the subscription details if it is not immediately visible.
These steps are for a subscription billed through Apple. Finding and opening the Al Jazeera app on an iPhone is not a substitute for checking the Apple Account’s Subscriptions page. Likewise, being able to use the app does not show which provider handled payment.
Apple says that if the subscription screen has no Cancel button, or shows an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled. In that situation, do not look for a second cancel action on the same screen. Check the displayed status and, if you are investigating a charge, compare it with the receipt and the account shown in the payment details.
If Al Jazeera is not listed, first confirm that this iPhone is signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase. A subscription list is tied to the account being checked; looking under a different Apple Account will not establish whether the purchasing account has an active subscription. If you use more than one Apple Account, check the account associated with the purchase receipt. If the correct account still has no entry, examine the receipt or charge details to see whether Apple was the billing provider at all.

Cancel a Google Play subscription on Android
- Open the Google Play subscriptions page on your Android device.
- Sign in to the Google Account that made the purchase. If more than one Google Account is in use on the device, verify that you are checking the purchasing account rather than assuming the currently selected account is the right one.
- Select the Al Jazeera subscription from the subscriptions list, if it appears.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the on-screen instructions through the final confirmation. Recheck the subscriptions page afterward to see the resulting status.
Google Play Help states: “When you uninstall the app, your subscription won’t cancel.” Uninstalling Al Jazeera, removing its icon, or no longer opening it does not replace the cancellation steps in Google Play. If Google Play billed the subscription, cancel it through Google Play.
Google Play says a recurring subscription continues to renew and be charged according to its terms unless the user unsubscribes. Removing the app therefore is not a reliable way to stop a recurring charge. Use the subscription’s own cancellation control and complete the prompts instead.
If the Al Jazeera item is missing from Google Play subscriptions, confirm the Google Account used when the purchase was made. Then check the purchase receipt or payment charge details. Google Play’s instructions explain how to cancel subscriptions billed through Google Play, but the public app listing does not establish that every person’s subscription—or any particular charge—is billed there. If the payment information names a different provider, follow up with that provider rather than continuing to search the wrong account.

A missing subscription entry is a reason to check the account and billing provider, not proof that billing has stopped. Work through these checks in order:

- Check the account currently open. For an Apple-billed purchase, confirm the iPhone is signed in to the Apple Account used at purchase. For a Google Play purchase, confirm you are viewing the Google Account that made the purchase. If you use more than one account, check the one tied to the receipt rather than checking only the account most often used on the device.
- Look at the receipt or charge details. Find the payment receipt or inspect the charge information on your payment statement. Identify the provider shown as having processed the payment. The phone’s operating system and the app’s presence on that phone do not identify the billing provider.
- Return to the matching provider. If the receipt points to Apple, check Apple Subscriptions while signed in to the purchasing Apple Account. If it points to Google Play, check Play subscriptions while signed in to the purchasing Google Account. If it names a different provider, do not assume Apple or Google Play can cancel that payment; contact the provider identified on the receipt or charge.
- Check the displayed status after cancellation. Once you have completed a provider’s cancellation prompts, return to that provider’s subscription page and review the status. Do not treat the absence of an item from a different account or service as confirmation of cancellation.
This process separates two questions that are easy to confuse: “Which account am I looking at?” and “Which company billed the subscription?” Both need to be answered before a missing listing can be interpreted. For example, an Al Jazeera subscription will not be found by checking a Google Account if the purchase is managed in Apple Subscriptions; equally, an Apple Subscriptions page is not evidence about a payment handled elsewhere.
If you cannot identify the billing provider from the receipt or charge details, do not guess based on the app store listing. The listings describe the app and its publisher or developer, not the payment arrangement for a particular person’s account. Use the provider information attached to the actual transaction to decide where to continue.
What the app store listings do—and do not—tell you
The Apple App Store listing identifies Al Jazeera Network as the developer and labels the iOS app “Free.” The Google Play listing describes the Al Jazeera news app and identifies Al Jazeera Network as publisher; it describes news and live content. These details identify the app listing, not the billing status of every account that uses it.

What happens after cancellation
Google Play explains that recurring subscriptions renew and are charged according to their terms unless the user unsubscribes. It also distinguishes recurring subscriptions from prepaid plans, which expire at the end of their stated period. That distinction matters when checking what kind of plan is shown: a recurring plan needs cancellation to stop its renewal, while a prepaid plan expires at the end of the period stated for it.
Do not infer a refund from cancellation. Google Play says refunds are subject to its refund policy; canceling a subscription by itself does not establish that a refund will be issued. If your question is about a refund rather than stopping future renewal, consult the billing provider’s refund policy and the details for the transaction. The cancellation instructions and refund decision are separate matters.
After you complete cancellation, check the status shown by the provider that billed the subscription. If the provider indicates it is already canceled or shows an expiration status, use that status rather than trying to cancel repeatedly. If the entry is absent, revisit the account and receipt checks above; absence alone does not confirm that a charge has stopped.

- Use the Apple Account or Google Account that made the purchase.
- Complete the cancellation prompts within Apple Subscriptions or Google Play, as applicable.

How do I cancel an Al Jazeera subscription on Android?
If Google Play bills it, open the Google Play subscriptions page, sign in to the Google Account used for the purchase, select Al Jazeera, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts through confirmation. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a Google Play subscription.
Why can’t I see my Al Jazeera subscription?
You may be looking at a different Apple Account or Google Account from the one used to make the purchase, or the subscription may not be billed by the service you are checking.
