Build the LEGO Technic PEUGEOT 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar by following the numbered official instructions for set 42156 in order, checking the moving mechanisms as the manual introduces them, and leaving the bodywork and livery details until the steps call for them. The 2023 set has 1,775 pieces and is rated for ages 18 and up. LEGO provides a downloadable PDF instruction manual; the LEGO Builder app is an optional way to view instructions in 3D.
Identify the right set and get its instructions
Make sure the manual is for LEGO Technic PEUGEOT 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar, set 42156. LEGO lists it as a 2023 set with 1,775 pieces and an 18+ age rating. The official LEGO instructions page has a downloadable PDF for the set. Start there rather than relying on a generic search for “Peugeot LEGO instructions,” which may return other models or unofficial build material.
The age rating is LEGO’s audience designation; it is not a measured build-time estimate or a published difficulty score. The official information does not establish how long an individual builder should expect the assembly to take. Work at a pace that lets you follow each numbered step and check the parts before moving on.
Choose PDF or the optional Builder app
The PDF is suitable if you prefer a conventional page-by-page manual, whether viewed on a screen or printed. LEGO’s Builder app offers a digital alternative: LEGO says it can organize instructions, zoom in, rotate the model in 3D, save sets and track progress. Those features can make a complex Technic assembly easier to inspect, but the app is not required to build the set.

Use one instruction format at a time and keep your place clearly marked. If you switch between formats, confirm that both show the same numbered step before continuing. This simple check helps avoid assembling from a different point in the sequence.
Prepare your workspace before opening the build
The completed car measures over 13 cm high, 50 cm long and 22 cm wide, according to LEGO’s product page. The instructions do not establish a required work surface, separate tools or an assembly time. As practical builder advice, choose a stable, well-lit surface with enough room to see the manual and keep parts from getting mixed together.
- Keep the PDF or app visible without placing it where loose pieces can cover the screen or pages.
- Use small dishes, trays or clear areas on the work surface to keep loose parts manageable. These are optional organizing aids, not required components.
- Keep the pieces for the current instruction stage close at hand, and avoid mixing them with parts from later stages unless the manual directs you to do so.
- Allow enough clear space to turn the model carefully as it grows. The finished car’s 50 cm length is a useful guide for display planning, not a stated minimum build-area measurement.
If you acquired the set second-hand, check the seller’s parts and condition information before starting. LEGO lists the set as retired on its UK product page, but that is a UK storefront status—not proof that the set is unavailable everywhere or from all sellers. For a used set, compare the seller, condition, stated completeness, regional price and return terms. Do not assume that a listing includes every piece or the original manual unless its description says so.

Set 42156 is a Technic model with connected mechanisms as well as exterior bodywork. The safest approach is to build in the official manual’s order: the documented sequence determines when structural and moving parts are installed and how later assemblies connect. The feature list alone does not establish the exact subassembly order, so do not skip ahead based on what a part looks like or try to reproduce a sequence from a different car set.

- With a LEGO 1:10 scale building kit, the building process is an experience in itself, but the finished result is a racing car with waunchable details
- Open the official set 42156 instructions. Confirm the set number and begin at the first numbered step. If you are using the PDF, use the page controls or bookmarks available in your reader to keep your place.
- Read each step before adding parts. Identify the pieces shown and their orientation. Technic connections can look similar while facing different directions, so compare the illustration carefully rather than relying only on color or shape.
- Build only what the current step shows. Keep the model oriented as illustrated when possible. If you turn it to reach a connection, return it to the depicted orientation before comparing it with the next diagram.
- Check the result before advancing. Compare the completed connection with the picture, including the direction and position of axles, connectors and visible components. A brief check is easier than trying to diagnose a mismatch several steps later.
- Test moving functions gently when the manual makes them available. The steering, suspension and drivetrain should not be forced. A check at the relevant stage is general builder practice, not a claim that LEGO publishes a special test procedure or a set-specific repair sequence.
If a connection does not match the diagram, pause and compare the assembly with the last step you are confident was correct. Backtrack only as far as needed to find the mismatch, then reassemble in sequence. Avoid pulling forcefully on an axle or a connected mechanism to make it fit; that can shift other parts and make the original error harder to locate.
Pay attention to the drivetrain, suspension and steering
LEGO describes this model as incorporating a V6 piston engine connected to the rear wheels, a model electric motor and battery, front and rear suspension, and steering operated by either the steering wheel or a gear wheel on top. These are features of the LEGO model. They should not be read as a complete technical description of the full-size race car’s hybrid system.
V6 engine and rear-wheel connection
The engine’s moving pistons and its connection to the rear wheels are among the model’s mechanical features. Follow the manual’s illustrations closely wherever it shows these connected parts. When the instructions make it possible to move the mechanism, turn it gently and observe whether the parts move as shown. Do not infer a precise real-car powertrain design from the simplified mechanism in the LEGO build.

LEGO lists a model electric motor and battery as part of the set’s hybrid-system features. That describes elements represented in the build; it is not evidence that the finished model is a working powered vehicle or that separate electronics are required. Use the manual to identify how these parts fit into the model rather than assuming they connect to a functioning electric drive.

Front and rear suspension
The set includes modeled suspension at both ends of the car. As each assembly is added, compare its position with the relevant instruction illustration. If you check movement, do so gently and only once the manual has shown the parts assembled. The supplied product details do not specify suspension travel or a performance test, so avoid judging it against the behavior of a real race car.
Steering from two points
LEGO says the steering can be operated by the steering wheel or by a gear wheel on top of the model. Follow the instructions for the linkage and check that the parts respond without forcing them. A visual check at the step where the steering assembly is completed can help catch an orientation error before bodywork makes access less convenient.
These mechanisms make accurate assembly important, but LEGO does not publish a list of common step-specific faults or a tested troubleshooting procedure for the set. If a part seems blocked, compare it with the last correct manual illustration and check the orientation of the connected pieces before applying pressure.

Add the bodywork, livery and lighting details
The finished model has opening doors, livery graphics and PEUGEOT and sponsor logos. LEGO also lists Technic light elements that glow in the dark. These details contribute to the car’s display appearance, while the underlying mechanical assemblies are what make the build more than a static shell.

Install exterior components and decorative details when the numbered instructions call for them. Before closing over an area, check that the underlying parts remain in the positions shown. If a body panel seems not to align, do not force it into place; compare the surrounding structure with the manual and look for an earlier assembly that may be reversed or incomplete.
Handle printed or graphic details carefully during assembly. LEGO’s product information establishes that the model includes livery graphics and logos, but it does not specify a separate maintenance method for them. Avoid treating any unofficial cleaning or repair technique as LEGO’s instruction for this set.
Once the doors are installed, open and close them gently to verify their movement. The dark-glowing light elements are a model feature; do not assume they are powered lights or that they require batteries unless the instructions for the set explicitly say so.
Check the finished model and plan its display
When the manual is complete, make a final visual and movement check without forcing any part. The purpose is to confirm that the model matches its instructions, not to carry out a performance test.

For display, allow roughly 50 cm of length, plus a little clearance if you want to turn the model or access its doors. LEGO gives the car’s dimensions as over 13 cm high, 50 cm long and 22 cm wide. Those are finished-model measurements; the exact space available on a shelf may need to account for its edges, nearby objects and how you intend to view it.
Availability and historical launch context
LEGO’s UK product page labels set 42156 “Retired product.” This describes that regional storefront’s status and should not be interpreted as a guarantee that no retailer or second-hand seller has it, or that every regional LEGO store uses the same status. The official instructions page is listed separately and provides the PDF manual.
At launch in 2023, LEGO announced historical prices of €199.99, US$199.99 and £169.99 for their respective markets. These are release-era prices, not current resale estimates or evidence of present availability. A current marketplace price can vary by region, condition, completeness and seller, so compare those details rather than treating the launch figures as a current valuation.
LEGO announced the model in connection with the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. That context explains the “24H Le Mans” name, but it does not change the assembly process: the official numbered manual remains the reference for building set 42156.
