For a concrete beginner build, this guide uses Bandai’s ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam, product code 2582155, released January 15, 2022. The name “Strike Gundam” also covers other grades and editions, so confirm the grade, scale, and product code on your box before cutting anything. Then use the paper manual supplied with that exact kit: Bandai says its online manual library is incomplete and that posted instructions can differ from the printed manual or change when product specifications change.
What you are actually building
“Strike Gundam” is a family name, not one universal parts list. Bandai’s catalog includes several Strike-named products, including different grades, scales, editions, and a separate Lite Package version. Parts, equipment, marking sheets, and assembly details can therefore differ substantially. The steps below explain a safe workflow for the ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam (2582155), while clearly marking advice that depends on the contents of your own box.
Verify the box before opening runners
- Read the grade and scale printed on the front or side panel. This guide’s reference point is ENTRY GRADE at 1/144 scale.
- Check the product code. The target kit is 2582155.
- Look for an edition or package designation. A Lite Package or another regional release may not contain the same accessories or marking sheet.
- Keep the manual, runner labels, and marking sheet together. Do not substitute an online manual for the printed one unless you have confirmed that it is for the identical product code and edition.
What tools do you need to build a Gundam model kit?
You can begin with very little. The correct tool list depends on how the ENTRY GRADE parts in your package are designed and what the manual says. Bandai’s official ENTRY GRADE ν Gundam manual demonstrates that molded-color parts in that particular kit can be assembled without tools such as nippers; that is not a guarantee about every Strike release. Treat tools as aids unless your own instructions make one necessary.

Useful starter tools
| Tool | What it helps with | Is it universally required for the target kit? |
|---|---|---|
| Plastic model nippers | Separating a part from a runner and trimming the remaining gate | Not established for every ENTRY GRADE Strike package; useful when parts are not intended to be twisted free |
| Fine-tip hobby tweezers | Handling tiny parts, stickers, or a carrier sheet | Optional; especially helpful for small markings |
| Small scissors | Cutting around a decal or marking sheet when the manual calls for it | Only relevant if your sheet and instructions use that format |
| Phillips screwdriver | Driving screws in kits that include them | Not established for this ENTRY GRADE Strike kit; do not buy one solely on the basis of another Strike manual |
The functions above come from Bandai’s official Strike Noir instructions, which also state that tools are not included with that product. Strike Noir is a different model, so use its tool guidance as technique advice rather than proof that the ENTRY GRADE Strike box contains, requires, or excludes any particular tool.

Prepare a clean work area
- Use a tray or shallow box lid so a small part cannot roll away.
- Keep the runners in their bags until you are ready for that assembly section.
- Provide bright, even light. A desk lamp aimed from the side makes gate marks and orientation tabs easier to see.
- Wash and dry your hands before handling light-colored armor. Skin oils can make parts look dull or attract dust.
- Do not use solvent cement, paint, or a hobby knife as a first step. The kit’s snap-fit design and manual should determine whether any extra finishing method is appropriate.
Use the correct manual and identify the marking sheet
The paper manual in your purchase is the controlling guide for that edition. Bandai’s web manual service warns that it does not contain every manual and that online instructions may differ from the paper version. If a diagram, runner letter, part number, or accessory in an online copy does not match your box, stop and return to the supplied instructions rather than forcing a part.
Find out whether your markings are stickers or transfer decals
Do not apply a marking until you know which material you have. A sticker has an adhesive backing and is normally peeled from a sheet and pressed onto the plastic. A transfer decal is carried on a clear film: you position it, rub the printed mark, and lift the carrier so the mark remains on the part. These methods are not interchangeable.
The reviewed official material does not establish one marking-sheet type for every ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam package or region. Inspect the sheet and the diagram in your own box. If the manual calls the sheet stickers, follow the sticker panel; if it shows a carrier film and rubbing motion, follow the transfer-decal panel. Never assume that the transfer-decal procedure shown for Strike Noir is included with your Strike Gundam.

How to organize runners and part numbers
Runner organization prevents the most common beginner error: cutting a visually similar part from the wrong frame. Bandai’s Strike Noir manual explicitly tells builders to match the numbered part in the manual with the part on the corresponding runner. Apply that discipline to the Strike Gundam while recognizing that the example manual is for a related model.
- Lay the runners on the table in alphabetical or numerical order, keeping each runner’s label visible.
- Read the next manual diagram before touching the plastic. Note the runner letter and the complete part number, not just the shape.
- Find the printed number on the runner and compare the surrounding parts with the illustration. A mirrored left or right part can look correct until it is installed.
- Place removed parts in a small tray in the order the manual uses them. For a subassembly with several similar pieces, keep the unused runner beside it until the diagram is complete.
- Mark a runner bag or a small compartment with the section name—head, torso, arm, leg, waist, backpack, or weapon—if you are stopping for the day.
Do not cut every runner at once. Keeping the unused frame intact gives you a reference for orientation and reduces the chance of losing a tiny connector.

How to cut parts from the runners without damaging them
If your kit or preferred method uses nippers, Bandai’s Strike Noir manual illustrates a two-stage cut. First separate the part from the runner with a little gate material left on the part. Once the piece is free and easier to hold, trim the remaining gate closer to the surface. This reduces the leverage that can stress a thin part during the initial cut.
- Identify the correct part number and inspect where each gate joins it.
- Make the first cut on the runner side of the gate, leaving a short nub rather than trying to cut flush in one squeeze.
- Hold the freed part by a thicker section, away from pegs, armor edges, or flexible joints.
- Trim the remaining gate in a second, controlled cut. If the gate is wide, take two small bites instead of twisting it off.
- Check the trimmed area under good light. A faint mark or stress discoloration can remain even with careful cutting; the two-stage method limits risk but cannot promise an invisible surface on every plastic.
- Test the part against the diagram before pressing it into the assembly. If an edge, tab, or hole is not oriented as shown, remove it and recheck the part number.
If the manual for your specific ENTRY GRADE Strike indicates that a part can be separated by hand, follow that instruction rather than forcing nippers into a tight gate. Conversely, if a connector resists, do not bend it repeatedly: inspect for an uncut gate or an incorrectly selected neighboring part.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAssembly order: a reliable way to follow the diagrams
Build in the sequence printed in your manual, not in an order borrowed from another Strike variant. The following workflow explains how to read each section; the actual numbered steps, runner letters, and included equipment belong to your edition.
Head
Before closing the head, confirm the face, helmet, and any clear or contrasting piece are facing the same direction as the illustration. Tiny eye or sensor parts are easy to reverse. Press only until the seam closes as shown; if the halves do not meet, look for a protruding tab or a part that is one step out of position.
Torso
Check the chest armor and waist connection before locking the torso halves. The torso often contains the main peg that later supports the hips, so a misaligned connector can make every later section appear crooked. Rotate the completed subassembly gently to verify that the intended movement remains free.

Arms
Assemble left and right arms by comparing the manual’s orientation arrows. Keep elbow and shoulder joints in the position shown while adding armor so you do not trap a joint at an unintended angle. If the two sides look identical, compare part numbers rather than relying on color.
Legs
Legs usually contain several layered armor pieces and a jointed section. Install each armor plate in the order shown, checking that a seam or notch lines up before applying pressure. Do not use the completed opposite leg as a substitute diagram: a mirrored part can fit physically while placing the detail on the wrong side.
Waist and skirt armor
Confirm which skirt pieces are fixed and which are meant to move. Test the range gently after installation. If a front or side panel pops off, inspect its peg and receiving hole for an obstruction rather than repeatedly snapping it back into place.
Backpack and weapons, if included
Use the manual to identify every backpack connector and weapon part supplied with your edition. Bandai’s catalog shows that Strike-named products do not all share the same equipment. Do not order or assemble an accessory because another Strike review displays it. When a weapon has a left/right or top/bottom orientation, match the numbered diagram and the shape of its mounting peg.
Final fit check
- Compare the completed silhouette with the manual’s final illustration.
- Move each intended joint through a small range without forcing it.
- Check that hands, backpack mounts, and weapons are fully seated but still removable where the manual depicts them as interchangeable.
- Look for unused parts. An unused piece may be an optional hand, a replacement, or an item belonging to a different step; it is not automatically a mistake.
How do I apply the decals?
First classify the sheet, then use the matching method. The reviewed sources do not confirm the marking format for every package of the target kit, so the instructions below are conditional.

Applying adhesive stickers
- Read the sticker number in the manual and locate it on the sheet.
- Cut around the sticker only if the sheet or instructions call for trimming. Avoid cutting through the printed area.
- Use tweezers to lift a corner, keeping the adhesive side away from dust and fingerprints.
- Position one edge first, then lower the rest gradually to avoid a crease or trapped air.
- Press the sticker with a clean fingertip or the flat side of a tool. Do not scrape the printed surface.
- If it is visibly misaligned, lift it slowly as soon as possible. Repeated removal can reduce adhesion or leave residue, so check placement before pressing firmly.
Applying transfer decals when your manual confirms that format
The following sequence is the one illustrated in Bandai’s Strike Noir instructions and applies only when your Strike Gundam sheet and manual show the same carrier-film system.
- Choose the marking and cut around it with a small margin. Keep the printed design attached to its carrier.
- Place the carrier over the target panel and secure it so it cannot slide.
- Rub the marking with a rounded point, using controlled pressure over the entire design. Avoid a sharp edge that could scratch the plastic or tear the film.
- Lift one corner of the carrier slowly. Watch the mark rather than pulling quickly.
- If any portion remains on the carrier, lower it back into the original position and rub that area again.
- When the entire mark has transferred, remove the carrier completely and inspect the edges.
Bandai’s Strike Noir guidance says an incorrectly placed transfer decal can be removed with tape. Use that recovery method only for a confirmed transfer decal, and test gently; it is not a universal solution for adhesive stickers or every plastic surface.
Decal troubleshooting
- The mark will not leave the carrier: replace the film precisely, burnish the untransferred area again, and lift more slowly.
- The marking moved: stop pulling, realign it while it is still supported by the carrier, and repeat the rubbing step.
- A sticker has a bubble: lift the nearest edge carefully and lay it down again from one side. Do not puncture it unless your own instructions permit that technique.
- The sheet does not match the manual: verify the kit code and edition. Do not apply a marking based on a Strike Noir or another Strike manual.
Common mistakes and how to recover
A part seems too tight
Stop before adding more force. Check for a remaining gate, a reversed part, or a neighboring piece installed one step early. Compare the complete part number and the orientation drawing. Snap-fit plastic should not require crushing pressure.
A joint is loose
Confirm that every connector is fully seated and that no armor piece is holding the joint at an angle. Do not add glue before checking the manual: a joint designed to move can be permanently damaged by adhesive.

You cut the wrong part
Keep the runner and the part together, then return to the previous diagram. Similar-looking pieces may belong to opposite sides or a later subassembly. If a replacement is needed, use the exact product code when contacting the retailer or manufacturer; do not assume another Strike edition uses the same part.

A gate mark is visible
A controlled two-stage cut can reduce the mark, but it cannot guarantee a perfect surface on every plastic. Leave a tiny amount for a later trim rather than gouging the armor. If the area will be hidden by another piece, prioritize structural fit over aggressive cosmetic cutting.
You lost a small piece
Pause and search the tray, floor, clothing, and runner bag before continuing. The manual’s runner map can show whether the missing item is unique or duplicated. Store loose parts in a labeled container while searching so a second piece does not disappear.
How to compare other Strike Gundam kits before buying
If you are choosing between Strike-named kits, compare concrete specifications instead of the shared character name.
| Comparison point | What to verify | Why it changes the build |
|---|---|---|
| Grade and scale | For this guide: ENTRY GRADE, 1/144. Other products may use a different grade or scale. | Determines part size, articulation approach, detail level, and manual structure. |
| Edition or version | Standard package, Lite Package, regional release, or another named edition | Can change runners, accessories, colors, and marking sheets. |
| Included equipment | Read the box contents and manual diagrams for the exact product code | Strike variants do not all include the same backpack or weapons. |
| Marking material | Sticker sheet, transfer decal sheet, or another format shown in your manual | Each material requires a different application and correction method. |
| Tool requirement | Follow the specific manual; nippers and tweezers may be useful but are not universally required | Prevents buying tools—or forcing parts—based on another model’s instructions. |
| Price and stock | Not stated in the reviewed official catalog material; check a current retailer for your region | Availability and pricing change independently of the kit’s specifications. |
When a listing says only “Strike Gundam,” ask for the grade, scale, product code, included equipment, and marking type. Those details identify what you will actually receive.
Storage and display after the build
- Keep the manual and unused parts in a labeled bag with the product code 2582155.
- Support the model by its torso or hips when moving it; avoid lifting by a backpack, antenna, or weapon.
- Use a stable surface away from direct sunlight and heat, which can discolor or warp plastic over time.
- Dust with a soft brush rather than pressing a cloth into small joints or decals.
- If a removable weapon or backpack loosens, inspect the peg and hole for alignment before modifying either part.
Most importantly, retain the original manual. It is the authoritative reference for reassembly, replacement-part identification, and any markings that belong to your exact edition.
The Bottom Line
Build the ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam by verifying product code 2582155, following the paper manual supplied with your box, matching every part number to its runner, and using a controlled two-stage cut when nippers are appropriate. Determine whether your sheet contains stickers or transfer decals before applying any marking; the decal method and included accessories can differ across Strike Gundam editions.
