The most dependable earnings calendar combines a personal watchlist with each company’s investor-relations (IR) events page. Use third-party calendars to discover likely dates, but confirm any date you plan to trade, publish, or rely on against the issuer’s own announcement. Store the source URL, certainty status, release timing, call details, and last-checked date beside every entry; then recheck near the event because future schedules can change.
What an earnings calendar should contain
An earnings calendar is more than a list of dates. It is a time-based record of when companies are expected to release financial results and when management may discuss them with investors. A useful entry lets you answer five questions immediately:
- Which company and ticker are involved?
- Which fiscal quarter or year is being reported?
- Is the date estimated, scheduled by the issuer, or already completed?
- When will the release and any conference call or webcast occur, including the time zone?
- Where can you verify the information and find the release, presentation, or webcast?
Keep the release and a later call as separate events when the company lists them separately. For example, an issuer may publish results before the market opens and hold a call afterward. Treating those as one generic date can cause you to miss the discussion or misread when the information became available.
1. Define the companies and periods you will track
Start with a deliberate watchlist
Write down the companies before you search for dates. Include at least the company name, ticker, exchange, and the reporting periods that matter to you. A watchlist might cover only your holdings, or it might also include direct competitors, suppliers, customers, and large companies that can move an entire sector.

Decide the scope before building the calendar. A narrow holdings-only calendar is easier to maintain. A peer calendar can provide context, but it creates more entries and more verification work. Record the scope in a note or a dedicated sheet so that you do not gradually add companies without deciding whether they are genuinely relevant.
Use a stable identity for every company
Ticker symbols can be reused on different exchanges and can change after a corporate action. Store the exchange with the ticker, and keep the issuer’s legal or commonly used name as a separate field. This prevents two similarly named companies from being merged into one record.
2. Find the date from the issuer’s investor-relations page
Use the company’s own events section as the authority
Look for a page labelled “News and Events,” “Events and Presentations,” “Financial Results,” or a similar investor-relations heading. The issuer’s IR page is the best place to confirm a scheduled earnings event because it is where the company publishes its own event details. Nasdaq’s Events & Presentations page demonstrates the pattern: event listings can include results dates, releases, presentations, webcasts, reminders, and an archive of earlier events.

Record the date you checked it. If the page has a calendar view and an individual event page, store the individual event link as well; it is usually the most useful destination when you later need the webcast or presentation.
Use third-party calendars for discovery, not final authority
Third-party calendars can help you find likely reporting weeks for a long list of companies. They may be the fastest way to identify which IR pages to open. A forecast shown by a third party remains a forecast until the issuer schedules the event or another clearly defined confirmation occurs.
EarningsTracker describes a process that combines issuer IR pages with SEC EDGAR and treats a date as confirmed when the company files its earnings report. That is the service’s stated methodology, not a universal industry definition. If you use it or another service, keep its status label and source visible instead of silently converting an estimate into an official date: EarningsTracker.
Capture the release and call independently
An event listing can contain several related items. Enter a results release, a slide presentation, and a conference call or webcast as separate records when they have different times or links. A single company may therefore create two calendar events for one reporting period: “Q2 results release” and “Q2 results call.” Link both records to the issuer’s page and note how they are related.

| Field | What to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Company | Issuer name | Prevents confusion between similarly named businesses. |
| Ticker and exchange | Symbol plus exchange | Identifies the security unambiguously. |
| Reporting period | Fiscal quarter and year, such as Q3 FY2026 | Separates successive results and companies with non-calendar fiscal years. |
| Event type | Results release, call, webcast, presentation, or filing | Distinguishes what actually happens at the listed time. |
| Date | Issuer-announced date, or estimated date if not announced | Supports date sorting without hiding uncertainty. |
| Release timing | Before open, after close, or an exact time when supplied | Shows when information is likely to become available. |
| Call time and time zone | Exact time zone supplied by the issuer | Avoids missed calls when you work outside the issuer’s region. |
| Webcast or event link | Direct issuer URL | Provides one-click access to live or archived materials. |
| Source page | IR page used to verify the entry | Lets you recheck a volatile date quickly. |
| Status | Estimated, issuer scheduled, or reported/filed | Makes the confidence level visible. |
| Last checked | Date you last reviewed the source | Shows how fresh the entry is. |
| Notes | Change history, special instructions, or material links | Preserves context without altering the core fields. |
If a company has not supplied a call time, leave the time field empty and note “time not stated” rather than guessing. If a comparable value is unavailable, use “not stated” and identify the source page in your notes.
4. Label certainty so estimates cannot masquerade as facts
Estimated
Use “estimated” when a date comes from a forecast or an unconfirmed calendar entry. Keep the estimate’s source and the date you retrieved it. Estimates are useful for planning which IR pages to monitor, but they should not be presented as an issuer commitment.
Issuer scheduled
Use “issuer scheduled” when the company’s IR page explicitly lists the future event. Preserve the wording and any stated time zone. This is the status to use for a future date that has been announced but has not happened yet.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsReported/filed
Use “reported/filed” after the event has occurred or the relevant report has been filed, depending on the convention you have documented. Add the final release, filing, presentation, and webcast links that are available. If you adopt a service’s confirmation rule, record that rule in a methodology note instead of implying that every calendar uses the same definition.
Keep a change trail
Do not overwrite an old date without recording what changed. Add a short note such as “moved from 12 May to 14 May; checked 6 May” and update the status. A change trail explains why a reminder fired on a date that is no longer current and helps you spot issuers whose schedules move frequently.
5. Build the working calendar in a spreadsheet
Create one master table
- Create columns for the fields in the table above, with one header row and one event per row.
- Freeze the header row and turn on filters so you can view one company, exchange, reporting period, status, or event type at a time.
- Use a consistent date format and store the time zone in its own column instead of embedding it in a free-form note.
- Use a controlled list for status values:
estimated, issuer scheduled, andreported/filed. Consistent spelling keeps filters reliable. - Keep the source URL and last-checked date adjacent to the event date. This makes verification possible without opening a separate research log.
Add practical views
- Upcoming: filter to future dates and sort ascending.
- Needs verification: show estimated entries or entries whose last-checked date is older than your chosen review interval.
- Today’s events: filter by date and then sort by time zone and event time.
- History: show reported/filed entries with links to releases, presentations, and webcasts.
Conditional formatting can make status visible at a glance, but color must not be the only indicator. Keep the text label so the sheet remains understandable when exported or viewed without formatting.
Handle a long list without losing control
For dozens or hundreds of companies, enter the watchlist first, then populate dates in batches. Work by company or exchange so that each source page is checked systematically. Do not copy a date across several fiscal periods merely because a company usually reports in the same week; a recurring pattern is still an estimate until the issuer posts the new event.

6. Add reminders and time-zone-safe calendar events
Enter the issuer’s stated time, not your assumption
When the issuer supplies an exact time and time zone, enter both. Let your calendar application convert it to your local zone, and inspect the converted time before saving. If only “before market open” or “after market close” is stated, preserve that wording and avoid inventing an exact hour.

Use separate reminders for release and call
Create one event for the results release and another for the call or webcast when they occur at different times. Give each event a descriptive title that includes the company, period, and event type. Attach the issuer’s release or webcast URL to the relevant event, not just to a general company entry.
Set reminders when you create the entry
Choose a reminder that fits the decision you need to make: an earlier alert for preparation and a nearer alert for attendance. Nasdaq’s example event listing shows why reminders and direct event links are useful: the listing includes a date and time, webcast access, materials, and calendar-reminder options. If a company’s future details are unavailable, Nasdaq’s calendar advises signing up for email alerts so you can be notified when information is posted.
7. Verify volatile dates on a maintenance schedule
Recheck before you rely on an entry
Future dates can change. Reopen the issuer’s IR page before publishing a schedule, placing a trade, preparing a briefing, or sending an alert to other people. Update the date, time, links, status, and last-checked field together so an old link does not remain attached to a new event.
Use a two-pass review
- Planning pass: review the entire upcoming list and identify estimated dates that need issuer confirmation.
- Near-event pass: check each event again close to the scheduled date, paying particular attention to the time zone, release timing, call link, and any rescheduling notice.
The exact interval is a policy choice for your workflow; the important behavior is to review again rather than treating an old future date as permanent.
Watch for missing details
An issuer may announce a date before publishing a call time, webcast URL, presentation, or release link. Keep the event in the calendar with the missing field marked “not stated,” then revisit it when the company’s alert or event page is updated. Do not fill gaps with a third party’s guess when the issuer has not supplied the detail.
8. Archive completed results for comparison
After a release or call, change the status to “reported/filed” and retain the original event date. Add links to the earnings release, presentation, webcast, or transcript when available. Nasdaq’s events pages illustrate the value of an archive by keeping past results and associated materials accessible at the event level.
Keep the historical record in the same table or in a linked archive rather than deleting old rows. The archive lets you compare the next reporting period with the previous one, check whether a date was moved, and retrieve the exact materials that were available at the time. It is a record of events and sources, not a substitute for your own analysis of the company’s results.

| Criterion | Questions to ask | Why it affects your workflow |
|---|---|---|
| Source transparency | Does it identify issuer IR pages, filing records, or another feed? | You need a path to verify a date independently. |
| Status labels | Can you distinguish an estimate from an issuer-scheduled event and a completed report? | Prevents false certainty. |
| Coverage | Which companies and exchanges are included? | A broad list is not useful if your holdings are absent. |
| Update behavior | How are moved dates and newly announced call details handled? | Stale entries are a key risk with future events. |
| Timing support | Are time zones and before-open or after-close timing shown? | Determines whether reminders fire at the right moment. |
| Materials | Does an entry link to releases, presentations, webcasts, or filings? | Reduces the time spent hunting for primary documents. |
| Alerts and export | Can you receive reminders or move events into your own calendar? | Determines whether it fits your existing process. |
The available sources demonstrate issuer event pages, reminders, archived materials, and one service’s stated sourcing and confirmation approach. They do not establish comparative accuracy or audited coverage for every calendar. Treat those as evaluation questions rather than assuming that one provider is universally more accurate.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Finding dates several weeks in advance
Three weeks before a reporting period, begin with the watchlist and look for issuer announcements. For companies that have not posted a date, record a clearly labelled estimate from a discovery calendar, add the issuer IR URL, and put the row on a verification list. As soon as the company publishes an event, replace the estimate with the issuer-scheduled date, retain the old value in the change note, and add the release and call details.
This approach gives you advance planning without confusing a historical pattern or third-party forecast with a promise from the company. The closer the event gets, the more valuable a fresh IR-page check becomes.
Common failure modes and fixes
Copying a date without its status
Symptom: A spreadsheet shows a precise date but no indication of where it came from.
Fix: Add the source URL, last-checked date, and one of the three certainty labels. If the source is a forecast, keep “estimated” visible until the issuer schedules the event.
Using one event for the whole reporting cycle
Symptom: A reminder points to a release when you intended to attend the call.
Fix: Create separate release and call records whenever the issuer lists separate times or links.

Ignoring time zones
Symptom: A converted reminder appears at an unexpected local time.

Fix: Store the issuer’s stated time zone, verify the calendar conversion, and keep “before open” or “after close” wording when no exact time is provided.
Letting old links survive a reschedule
Symptom: The date changed but the event opens an outdated webcast or presentation.
Fix: Recheck the issuer page, update every related field in one edit, and record the change in the notes.
Deleting completed events
Symptom: You cannot find the release or call materials when the next quarter arrives.
Fix: Mark the event completed and archive its links instead of removing the row.

- Record company, ticker, exchange, and fiscal period before searching for dates.
- Use third-party calendars to discover candidates, then open the issuer’s IR page.
- Store the source URL and last-checked date with every event.
- Label each entry estimated, issuer scheduled, or reported/filed.
- Capture release timing, call time, time zone, webcast, and materials when stated.
- Keep releases and calls as separate events when their schedules differ.
- Set reminders immediately and recheck near the event.
- Archive the release, presentation, webcast, and any available transcript after completion.
Frequently asked questions
Can an issuer’s IR page still change after a date is posted?
Yes. Future scheduling details are subject to change, so retain the source and last-checked date and review the page again near the event. If the company moves the date, update the calendar and preserve the change in your notes.
What should I do when a company gives a date but no call time?
Enter the date and the issuer’s wording, mark the time as “not stated,” and check the same IR event page later. Do not substitute an estimated time from another calendar for an issuer-supplied detail.
How should I handle a company with a non-calendar fiscal year?
Use the company’s own fiscal-quarter and fiscal-year labels rather than assuming that Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 align with January–December quarters. Store the label exactly as the issuer presents it so the event remains tied to the correct reporting period.
