Rebuild your ARC Raiders Raider Skill Tree for Frozen Trail 2.0 instead of carrying over an old-tree plan. The October 8, 2026 update reshaped the branches around deliberate choice nodes: at 10 points in a branch you pick one of two middle skills, while later end-of-branch gates let you select from larger skill pools. Your best allocation depends on whether you value movement, carrying and resilience, or looting and field utility.

The official update confirms the redesign but warns that Embark may continue tuning existing and new skills. The point totals and reset price below come from a current third-party guide updated October 8, 2026, so check the descriptions shown in your game before committing points.

What changed in Frozen Trail 2.0

Embark’s Frozen Trail 2.0 update notes, published October 8, 2026, describe a substantial Raider Skill Tree rework. The old middle-node structure was replaced by a single path with a binary choice: you can take only one of the two skills, and changing that decision requires resetting the tree. At each branch end, there are two nodes; each node presents three skills, with up to two of those three becoming available after the required investment.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That structure makes the order of your spending matter. A point placed in one branch moves you toward its choice gates, while a choice at a gate can lock out the alternative until you respec. Embark explicitly cautions that more changes are likely: “As this is a fairly big reimagining of the Skill Tree, there will likely be more tweaks and updates in the near future, to existing and new skills, as we see how you are engaging with it.”

The update is part of the Frozen Trail content drop, which also adds Pendola Pass, new ARC enemies and weapons, Outpost systems and other content. The official launch information lists Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and GeForce NOW as supported platforms; the skill-tree rules are the same planning problem regardless of platform.

Current branches, gates and point limits

The following values are reported by TheArcRaiders.com’s Frozen Trail 2.0 skill guide, updated October 8, 2026 and cross-checked there against two community datasets on October 9. They are not numerical statistics quoted in Embark’s update notes.

Branch Primary purpose Reported gate information
Mobility Stamina and traversal, including sprinting, climbing, rolling, vaulting and movement chains Binary middle choice at 10 points; first end choice at 30; second end choice at 40
Conditioning Carry weight, encumbrance management, resilience and effectiveness while hurt or downed Binary middle choice at 10 points; first end choice at 30; second end choice at 40
Survival Looting, stealth while looting, field crafting, recycling and in-raid repairs Binary middle choice at 10 points; first end choice at 30; second end choice at 40

The guide reports 76 base skill points at level 75. It also reports a reset price of 2,000 Coins per point after the launch respec. At that rate, resetting all 76 points would cost 152,000 Coins if every point were allocated; the amount you see in-game is the authority if a later patch changes the pricing rule.

Choose an objective before spending points

There is no authoritative win-rate study or universally optimal Frozen Trail build. Treat the following as practical archetypes rather than an official meta. Decide what you want your Raider to do most often, then spend toward the gate that supports that job.

Movement-focused PvP

Choose this when fights are decided by who reaches cover, climbs a ledge, escapes a bad angle or chains movement without exhausting stamina. Mobility is the foundation; the trade-off is fewer points for carrying capacity or crafting utility.

Carrying and resilience

Choose Conditioning when your squad regularly extracts heavy loot, operates while encumbered or survives long engagements. You give up some traversal and field-looting specialization in exchange for a more forgiving combat and extraction profile.

Looting and field utility

Choose Survival when your value comes from searching efficiently, staying less exposed while looting, crafting during a raid, recycling materials or repairing equipment away from a base. This approach sacrifices some movement and damage-avoidance flexibility.

Three 76-point starting plans

These are transparent starting allocations, not tested claims of superiority. They use the guide-reported 76-point pool and gates. Within each branch, read the current in-game descriptions and take the option that matches your weapons, squad role and preferred routes.

Archetype Mobility Conditioning Survival Gates reached Main trade-off
Movement-focused PvP 40 20 16 Both Mobility end choices; middle choices in all three branches Less carry and field-crafting depth
Carry and resilience 24 40 12 Both Conditioning end choices; middle choices in all three branches Less traversal specialization and fewer Survival end options
Looting and field utility 20 16 40 Both Survival end choices; middle choices in all three branches Lower investment in encumbrance and movement

Each plan puts at least 10 points into every branch, so each reaches the reported binary middle-choice threshold. Only the branch receiving 40 points reaches both reported end gates. A branch at 30 or more reaches its first end choice; a branch below 30 keeps its investment focused on the early path.

How to adjust the plans

  • If you want the first end choice in a secondary branch, move points from the primary branch until that secondary branch reaches 30. Do not assume the resulting loss is harmless: dropping Mobility below 40 can remove access to its second end choice.
  • If your squad already has a dedicated looter, move Survival points into Conditioning or Mobility rather than duplicating field utility.
  • If you play solo, keep enough Survival for repairs and enough Conditioning to tolerate encumbrance; a pure specialist build can make recovery from a bad raid harder.
  • If your preferred routes involve repeated climbs, vaults and rolls, prioritize the Mobility descriptions that support those actions even when an end gate is farther away.

Planning the 76 points around the gates

Think of the reported thresholds as a budgeting problem rather than three independent checklists. Ten points buys access to a branch’s binary decision, but it does not put you close to an end node by itself. Moving from 10 to 30 costs another 20 points; moving from 30 to 40 costs another 10. Those increments are useful when deciding whether a small improvement in a second branch is worth delaying a major specialization in your first.

For example, a 40/20/16 plan spends 40 points to secure both Mobility end choices, then leaves 36 points for baseline Conditioning and Survival utility. A 30/30/16 split reaches a first end choice in two branches but gives up both second end choices. That can be sensible for a player who wants one movement option and one carrying or looting option, but it should be an intentional trade rather than the result of spending points wherever they appear.

Likewise, 24 points in a branch can provide its middle choice and additional early-path skills, yet it remains below the reported 30-point end gate. If the end skill is the reason you selected that branch, stop spending in other branches long enough to reach 30. If the end skill is not central to your role, keep the points where they solve a repeated problem instead of chasing a gate for its own sake.

Before confirming a purchase, write the three totals on paper and mark the next threshold for each branch. This prevents an accidental 29-point branch when one more point would have opened the first end choice, and it makes the cost of moving from one archetype to another clear.

Coordinating a build with your squad

The three archetypes can complement one another in a group. A Mobility-focused player can prioritize routes, repositioning and escape timing while a Conditioning player carries more of the team’s material burden. A Survival-focused player can handle searches, recycling or in-raid repairs. These are planning roles, not official classes, so coordinate around what each person actually does rather than assuming every squad needs one of each.

Discuss overlap before spending. If two players both intend to be the primary looter, one may be better served moving points into Mobility or Conditioning. Conversely, if everyone avoids Survival, the squad may lack the field utility it expects. The best split can change with your regular teammates, your preferred routes and whether you commonly extract with heavy materials.

Step-by-step: build the tree in the current layout

  1. Open the Raider Skill Tree after updating to Frozen Trail 2.0. Do not rely on screenshots or point plans from the pre-Frozen Trail tree; the middle structure was redesigned.
  2. Write down your objective. Pick movement-focused PvP, carrying and resilience, or looting and field utility. If you split your role between two of them, choose which one deserves the 30- or 40-point commitment.
  3. Place the first 10 points in a branch. At the reported 10-point threshold, inspect the two middle skills and choose one. Compare the exact current descriptions, not just the skill names; Embark can tune values after launch.
  4. Repeat the middle choice in other branches only if it serves your plan. A 10-point investment in a secondary branch can provide useful baseline utility, but it also delays the 30- and 40-point gate in your main branch.
  5. Commit to 30 points when the first end choice is worth the specialization. At the reported 30-point gate, choose from the skills offered by the first end node. The guide describes each end node as a three-skill selection with up to two of the three available after the required investment.
  6. Commit to 40 points only when the second end choice is central to your role. Forty points in a branch unlocks the second reported end gate. Reaching it leaves 36 points for the other two branches, so plan those remaining points before confirming purchases.
  7. Review the whole tree before leaving the screen. Check that your selected middle options do not conflict with how you move, carry loot or craft. If an option is unclear, defer the purchase until you can test its description in a low-risk raid.
  8. Record your allocation. A simple note such as “Mobility 40, Conditioning 20, Survival 16” makes it easier to restore the plan after experimenting or a future patch.

How to evaluate individual skills

Traversal and stamina

Compare skills by the situations they solve: long sprints between cover, repeated climbs, emergency rolls, vault speed or a chain of movements that would otherwise stop because of stamina. A traversal skill is most valuable when it changes your route or escape timing, not merely when it improves a movement action you rarely use.

Carry capacity and resilience

Conditioning choices matter most when encumbrance changes your extraction decisions or when you frequently fight while injured or downed. Consider how often you abandon valuable loot, how far you carry materials and whether your squad can protect a slower carrier. A resilience choice can be more valuable than a small capacity increase if your raids routinely end in contested extracts.

Looting and stealth while looting

Survival skills should be judged against your looting pattern. If you search high-risk areas, a stealth-oriented option may reduce exposure; if you make repeated supply runs, faster or safer searches can save more time than a combat-oriented alternative. Do not select a looting skill solely because it sounds useful if your role rarely opens containers.

Crafting, recycling and repairs

Field utility pays off when you use materials during the raid rather than waiting for a return to base. Count the situations in which recycling or an in-raid repair lets you keep a weapon, armor piece or tool that would otherwise end the run. If your group already supplies those actions, redirect points to the branch that solves your personal bottleneck.

Testing a choice without wasting the whole build

Start by identifying one repeated failure: running out of stamina during an escape, abandoning loot because of encumbrance, or ending a raid without the field utility you needed. Select the branch and middle option that directly addresses that failure, then keep the rest of the allocation stable. This gives you a clearer comparison than changing all three branches at once.

Use a low-risk raid to observe whether the skill changes the situation you identified. Note the route, load and outcome rather than relying on a general feeling that the build is “better.” If the issue never appears, the points may be more useful elsewhere. If it appears repeatedly, decide whether reaching the 30-point end choice is worth taking points away from a secondary branch.

This process also protects your reset budget. A single targeted adjustment tells you more than repeatedly rebuilding the entire tree, especially when the guide-reported price is charged per point.

Resetting and changing a choice

The guide reports that changing a middle choice requires resetting the tree, not simply toggling the other option. It also reports a cost of 2,000 Coins per point after the launch respec. Before confirming a reset, capture your current branch totals and the exact alternatives you intend to take.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Reset for a role change: move from a loot-focused Survival investment to Mobility or Conditioning when your squad composition or regular activity changes.
  • Reset after a patch: reread every affected skill and compare the new description with your recorded plan. A numerical tweak can change whether a 30- or 40-point commitment remains worthwhile.
  • Reset experimentally: avoid spending the full pool on an untested idea if you cannot afford the reported per-point fee. Try to identify the one branch or choice that addresses your problem, then change only what is necessary.

Because the reset system and prices are guide-reported rather than fully detailed in the official update excerpt, use the confirmation screen in your current client as the final cost.

Version and platform checks

Frozen Trail 2.0 launched on October 8, 2026. When comparing a guide, screenshot or saved note, include the date and patch context. Embark’s launch notes say the redesigned tree may receive further adjustments as the team observes how players engage with it. A later client can therefore change a skill effect, a gate or the reset presentation even if the branch names remain familiar.

The official launch information lists Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and GeForce NOW. Platform does not change the allocation logic, but a player moving between platforms or devices should still open the live client and confirm the descriptions and point totals before spending.

Common mistakes and fixes

Reusing an old-tree build

Problem: an old allocation assumes the previous middle-node layout or points toward a skill that moved. Fix: start from the Frozen Trail 2.0 branches and recalculate around the 10-, 30- and 40-point gates.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Spreading points evenly without a goal

Problem: you reach several early choices but no meaningful end specialization. Fix: choose one branch for 30 or 40 points, then use the remainder to cover the other role you actually perform.

Taking a middle option by name alone

Problem: a familiar-sounding skill does not match your routes, loadout or squad role. Fix: read the current description and ask which repeated situation it improves.

Ignoring the cost of changing your mind

Problem: you select a binary option casually and later discover that switching requires a full reset. Fix: reserve the reported 2,000 Coins per point for experimentation and record the chosen path before confirming.

Assuming the guide is permanent

Problem: a later balance pass changes a value or gate. Fix: treat the guide’s numbers as an October 2026 snapshot and verify the live client. Embark has already said further tuning is likely.

What current evidence can—and cannot—prove

No source establishes a statistically best tree, win-rate advantage or universal meta percentage. The 76-point pool, 10-point middle threshold, 30- and 40-point end thresholds and 2,000-Coin reset rate are current guide-reported values, not official performance statistics.

There is also a useful but limited outside observation. In an October 7, 2026 PC Gamer preview, Morgan Park wrote that he focused on Mobility and Conditioning and that, although longer sprinting felt useful, the new abilities did not immediately make him play differently. That is one writer’s short preview impression, not a controlled test and not evidence that either branch is weak.

A practical decision rule

Start with Mobility if movement determines whether you can initiate or escape fights. Start with Conditioning if your raids are limited by load, injury or downed-state recovery. Start with Survival if your income and sustain depend on searching, crafting, recycling or repairs. In each case, take the middle option that fixes your most frequent problem, push the chosen branch to 30 when its first end skill clearly supports your role, and go to 40 only when the second end choice justifies giving up points elsewhere.

Recheck the live descriptions whenever Embark patches the tree. Frozen Trail 2.0 is a new baseline, not a promise that these gates or skill effects will remain unchanged.

What happens at 10 points in a branch?

The guide reports a binary middle choice at 10 invested points. You select one of two skills, and changing that decision requires resetting the tree rather than simply switching options.

What are the 30- and 40-point gates?

The guide reports the first end choice at 30 points and the second at 40 points in a branch. Each end node presents three skills, with up to two of those three available after the required investment.

Which branch is best for PvP movement?

Mobility is the natural starting point for players who value stamina, sprinting, climbing, rolling, vaulting and movement chains. It is a practical archetype, not a statistically proven best build.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How much does a full reset cost?

The current guide reports 2,000 Coins per point after the launch respec. Applying that rate to 76 allocated points would be 152,000 Coins, but use the in-game confirmation screen if the price changes.

Should I put 40 points into one branch?

Do so when that branch’s second end choice is central to your role. A 40-point commitment reaches both reported end gates but leaves only 36 points for the other two branches, so you give up some secondary specialization.

Can I copy an older ARC Raiders skill build?

Not safely. Frozen Trail 2.0 changed the middle-node structure and reshuffled skills. Rebuild from the current tree, check the 10-, 30- and 40-point thresholds, and read the live descriptions.

Will these skill values stay the same?

Not necessarily. Embark’s October 8, 2026 notes say further tweaks to existing and new skills are likely. Treat dated guide values as a starting reference and verify every choice after a patch.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

For Frozen Trail 2.0, choose your job first, take the relevant middle option at 10 points, and commit to 30 or 40 points only when an end choice is worth the points it removes from other branches. Mobility supports traversal, Conditioning supports carrying and resilience, and Survival supports looting and field utility. The current guide reports 76 points and a 2,000-Coin-per-point reset, but Embark may tune the tree, so confirm the live client before locking in a build.
