For Hyperia City, start by choosing your format and game plan—not by assuming there is already a proven deck list. As of October 13, 2026, the set’s prerelease events are scheduled for October 16 and general availability for October 23, so post-release results cannot yet establish a best-performing constructed deck. For prerelease Sealed, Ravensburger’s guide specifies six booster packs and a 40-card deck, allows cards from all six inks, and does not apply the four-glimmer-per-deck restriction. In either format, treat ink drops as a timing resource: spend one to improve your board or a card effect when that matters more than saving it for a later turn.

Choose your format before choosing cards

“A Hyperia City deck” can mean a prerelease Sealed deck or a constructed deck, and those require different building decisions. This guide covers both, but the supported construction details are strongest for Sealed and for the set’s new ink-drop mechanic. Ravensburger’s prerelease guide, published October 8, 2026, is the source for Sealed rules; it is not a constructed deck list.

Format or play mode What the official guidance establishes What to do with that information
Prerelease Sealed Open six booster packs and build a 40-card deck. All six inks are permitted, and the four-glimmer-per-deck restriction does not apply. (Ravensburger, “It’s Almost Prerelease: Hyperia City prerelease guide,” October 8, 2026.) Build from the cards you open. Choose your strongest coherent plan, then select cards to support it; do not treat a constructed list as a Sealed template.
Constructed The sources available for this guide do not establish a tested Hyperia City list, a best ink combination, matchup advice, or tournament results. Identify the constructed format and confirm current card legality before building. Treat any pre-release list as theorycraft, not a proven recommendation.
Pack Rush Ravensburger’s prerelease guide describes Pack Rush as using two boosters to make a 24-card deck, with 15 lore needed to win. Use its separate rules rather than applying the six-pack Sealed setup to Pack Rush.

Hyperia City prerelease events are scheduled for October 16, 2026, with general availability scheduled for October 23, 2026, according to Ravensburger’s September 22 announcement. Those dates make this an early deckbuilding guide: no post-release event record can yet show which constructed choices perform best.

Before you open packs or copy a list, decide what you are preparing for. A Sealed pool is finite and unpredictable: you make the best deck possible from the cards in front of you. Constructed lets you choose cards, but the format’s legality and the card pool matter. Pack Rush has its own smaller setup. Keeping those tasks separate prevents a common mistake: borrowing a number or restriction from one mode and assuming it applies to another.

  • UNLOCK MORE CARDS AS YOU GO: As you progress, you’ll unlock different gates letting you add more card types to your hand. You’ll discover songs, items, and Floodborn glimmers as well as how these help you along your quest.

Start with a plan the set actually supports

Ravensburger highlights the music and singing theme among the Disney and Pixar Coco glimmers. Its prerelease guide says, “As you might expect, the various glimmers inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco are interested in music and singing,” and recommends using their tuneful and harmonizing abilities. That makes a music-oriented deck a sensible starting hypothesis, especially in Sealed if your packs contain cards that support it. It does not establish that a particular Coco list is dominant or even that every Sealed pool can support the theme.

Build around the cards you can actually play together. In Sealed, look for a plan that your pool can sustain; in constructed, decide what the deck is trying to accomplish and verify that the cards and format rules support it. A theme is useful only when enough of your available cards contribute to it. Do not keep a card solely because it has a thematic connection if it does not advance your plan or function well in your deck.

A practical way to test a theme is to sort the pool and ask what each candidate card contributes. Does it directly support the music or singing direction? Does it create an ink drop, benefit from one, or help establish characters? Is it useful when the deck does not draw a particular partner card? The answers help distinguish a real package of mutually useful cards from a handful of cards that merely share a setting or theme. Ravensburger’s Coco pointer is a starting place for exploration, not a rule that the theme must be played.

For an early constructed deck, write the plan in one sentence before choosing the full list. For example, “I want to explore Coco glimmers and use ink drops to improve selected turns” is a testable hypothesis, not an established archetype. If the cards you select do not support that sentence in actual games, revise the plan or the selections. This simple check makes it easier to identify whether a change is solving a problem or just reacting to a memorable draw.

Understand ink drops before building around them

Ravensburger describes ink drops as a one-time-use ink resource. They can pay for cards or empower card effects, and the publisher says they can be spent on the turn they are created. That makes each drop a decision about timing, not a permanent increase to your available ink. The choice is whether using it now produces more value than saving it for a later turn.

The prerelease guide presents two broad options: spend a drop early to establish character glimmers, or save resources to play a high-cost card ahead of schedule. The right choice depends on your board and the cards in your hand. Lead designer Lukas Litzsinger said in Ravensburger’s September 22, 2026 announcement, “Ink drops can completely change the tempo of a game.” That is a description of their potential, not a guarantee that every drop changes a game or that one timing line is always correct.

Ask three questions when you draw a drop-producing card

  • What does it cost to generate the drop? Account for the card, action, or turn investment required; the drop is not free if you gave up another useful play to create it.
  • What changes if you spend it now? Does it put a character into play earlier, let you play a high-cost card ahead of schedule, or improve an effect? If it does not change the turn meaningfully, holding it may be better.
  • Is the card still useful without a drop? Because a drop is one-use, a deck should not assume that extra ink will always be available. Consider whether the card remains functional when the drop is absent.

For constructed, test whether the deck can generate drops reliably enough to justify cards that depend on them. No quantified generation rate or tested list is established here. For Sealed, assess the actual cards in your pool rather than assuming you will consistently assemble a particular sequence.

Compare the main timing lines

Use of the drop Potential benefit What to check
Spend early on characters Develops the board sooner. Whether the early character changes your position more than a later use would.
Save for a high-cost card Can bring a costly play forward. Whether you have a worthwhile high-cost card in hand and can wait without losing the advantage of acting now.
Spend to improve a card effect Can make a specific effect stronger. Whether the enhanced effect is worth using the drop on this turn.

These are strategic alternatives given in Ravensburger’s prerelease guidance, not rankings. A useful adjustment is to note which line you chose and what it accomplished during a game, rather than assuming the same line is correct every time.

Think of the decision in terms of opportunity cost. Using a drop for an immediate character or enhanced effect means it is no longer available for another use; saving it means accepting the current turn without that additional resource. The right question is not simply “Can I spend this?” but “What meaningful option does spending open, and what future option am I giving up?” If both choices look attractive, prioritize the one that addresses the board and hand you have now rather than an imagined ideal sequence.

When testing, distinguish a drop that was available from a drop that changed the game. A resource can be technically spendable but not worth the cost of redirecting it from another use. Conversely, a one-time drop may be especially valuable when it enables a consequential play earlier or turns a card’s effect into a stronger selection. The official guidance supports comparing these lines; it does not give a universal formula for when to use one.

Use Intense Research as a concrete payoff example

The official card gallery lists Intense Research as a Sapphire action with cost 2. It is inkable, Rare, and marked legal in Core Constructed and Infinity. Its printed effect is: “Look at the top 2 cards of your deck, then put one into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your deck in any order. If you removed an ink drop to play this action, look at the top 5 cards of your deck instead.”

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is a clear example of a card effect that improves when an ink drop is removed to play it. In a deck containing the card, weigh the larger selection against the value of using that drop elsewhere. Its cost, rarity, and legality describe the card; they do not prove that it belongs in every Sapphire deck or that it improves a deck’s performance in every situation.

Use this card as a model for reading other ink-drop payoffs: compare the effect as written with the effect after spending a drop. The relevant deckbuilding question is whether the added value matters enough to justify the resource. In the case of Intense Research, the card gallery says the action looks at five cards rather than two when a drop is removed to play it. That is a concrete difference to evaluate, not a claim that the action is automatically the best use of a drop.

Also read the full card text rather than relying on a short spoiler summary or a deck-building shorthand. The official gallery provides the card’s cost, inkable status, rarity, legality labels, and effect. The set release notes provide clarifications and corrections for set-specific wording. Those references are especially useful before describing a detailed interaction; a deck guide should not make a combo sound certain if a correction changes how a card works.

Build a prerelease Sealed deck from your pool

For Hyperia City prerelease Sealed, Ravensburger’s October 8 guide supplies the framework: six booster packs, 40 cards, cards from all six inks allowed, and no four-glimmer-per-deck restriction. It does not supply a guaranteed card combination. Your pool determines whether a Coco music plan, an ink-drop plan, or another coherent approach is realistic.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open and sort the six packs. Group your cards by ink and mark cards that support a shared plan, including music and singing themes or ink-drop generation and payoffs.
  2. Identify the strongest workable plan. Look for a group of cards that function together, not merely a single appealing card. If the pool has relevant Coco glimmers and supporting abilities, try that direction; do not force it if the cards are not there.
  3. Map ink-drop sources to uses. Separate cards that create drops from cards that benefit from them. Consider whether spending a drop early, saving it for a high-cost play, or using it to improve an effect is plausible with the cards you opened.
  4. Choose cards that remain useful in ordinary turns. Avoid relying on the assumption that every hand or game will provide a drop when needed. Evaluate each card in the context of the full pool and the plan you chose.
  5. Make the 40-card deck under the Sealed rules. All six inks are permitted and the four-glimmer restriction does not apply, but permission is not a reason to include cards that do not help the deck function. Prefer a coherent set of plays over unrelated cards simply to use more inks.
  6. Adjust after playing. Note opening hands that did not advance the plan, cards that stayed stranded in hand, and ink-drop uses that did or did not change the turn. Use those observations to replace cards from your pool and test again.

This is a method, not a promise of a particular result: sealed pools vary, and the official guidance does not guarantee that a specific ink combination or theme will be available to every player.

A closer Sealed review before you settle on 40

Once you have a possible group of cards, review the choices in two passes. First, ask whether the overall plan is coherent: are you trying to explore the music theme, make use of ink drops, or simply play the strongest compatible cards your pool offers? Second, examine cards that depend on another card or resource. If a card only reaches its intended payoff when an ink drop is available, make sure you are not treating that payoff as guaranteed. If a card has value without a drop, that flexibility may matter when you compare it with a more conditional option.

All six inks being permitted is a rule allowance, not an instruction to include every ink. A broader selection can expose you to more of your pool, but each chosen card should still serve the deck’s plan. The four-glimmer-per-deck restriction also does not apply to this Sealed setup, but that exception does not change the 40-card deck requirement. Use the official event guidance for the format details and make card choices based on your actual pool.

If you are new to the set, keep a note of why you included cards that support an ink-drop line. After a game, you can check whether the relevant resource was available, whether you chose to spend it, and whether the card did what you wanted. That is more informative than only recording wins or losses, since it helps reveal whether the deck’s intended sequence was realistic or whether a card repeatedly sat unused.

Approach constructed as a hypothesis, not a solved list

For constructed play, first name the format you intend to play and check its current legality. Intense Research is one verified Hyperia City example listed as legal in Core Constructed and Infinity, but that does not establish the legality of every card or the rules for every format. The available official materials do not establish a proven 60-card Hyperia City list, a best-performing ink combination, matchup guidance, or tournament results. Do not present a speculative list as tested or optimal.

A practical early build can still be disciplined. Choose one main plan—such as exploring the Coco music theme—then identify which cards support it and which ink-drop effects reward the resources you can generate. Include cards that remain useful when a drop is unavailable. As games provide evidence, adjust the list based on observable problems rather than changing cards at random.

For a constructed list, treat each card inclusion as a question to test: what job is this card doing, and does the deck need that job often enough to include it? A card that benefits from an ink drop should be considered alongside the cards that can produce drops, not in isolation. A card that supports Coco music should be evaluated by whether it advances the chosen plan in practice, rather than by its theme alone. The point is not to claim a particular ratio or fixed list without evidence; it is to make the connection between the plan and the cards explicit.

Check legality at the level of the intended format before sharing a list. The official card gallery marks Intense Research for Core Constructed and Infinity, but set-specific legality labels on one card cannot answer legality questions for an entire deck. For a list assembled before general release, make clear that it is an early build and revisit the card choices after the set is available and credible event data appears.

Track changes that answer a specific question

  • Unhelpful opening hands: identify which cards appear together and whether the issue is a weak plan, an awkward cost sequence, or dependence on a missing resource.
  • Cards stranded in hand: note when a card is difficult to use and whether the cause is its cost, the situation, or an ink-drop assumption.
  • Ink-drop tempo: record whether spending a drop advanced the board, enabled a consequential card, or improved an effect enough to justify the opportunity cost.
  • Plan consistency: check whether the deck can continue pursuing its chosen approach across games, instead of judging a card from one memorable turn.

Make one purposeful change at a time when possible. If a card is often stranded because the deck cannot generate a drop, changing a different card may not address the cause. If the drop arrives but spending it on an effect repeatedly costs a more important play, evaluate that allocation instead. The goal is to connect an observed problem to a testable adjustment; a short run of games is a reason to learn, not proof of a universal matchup or card ranking.

If you are buying product specifically to build a deck, think about whether you want the discovery of opening randomized packs or are trying to obtain particular cards. Packs offer a way to collect cards from the set, but no pack guarantees a specific inclusion. Once you have an exact list in mind, singles may be a more direct route to those cards. Check current stock, regional availability, and prices with the retailer you use; none of those details is fixed by the product announcement.

Local game stores may also be useful places to ask about prerelease events and product availability, but confirm dates and participation directly with the store. Ravensburger’s announced prerelease date is October 16, 2026, and general availability is scheduled for October 23. Do not assume a particular retailer has stock or that a particular promotion is available without checking current information.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I build and play a Hyperia City deck?

Ravensburger scheduled local prerelease events for October 16, 2026, and general availability for October 23, 2026. At this guide’s October 13 date, there is not yet post-release tournament evidence establishing a best constructed list.

How many cards and packs do I need for Hyperia City Sealed?

The official prerelease guide says to use six booster packs to build a 40-card Sealed deck. It allows all six inks and says the four-glimmer-per-deck restriction does not apply in this Sealed format.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does the Sealed rule apply to Pack Rush?

No. Ravensburger’s prerelease guide describes Pack Rush separately: two boosters make a 24-card deck, and 15 lore is needed to win. Follow that mode’s instructions rather than applying the six-pack Sealed setup.

What are ink drops in Disney Lorcana?

Ravensburger describes an ink drop as a one-time-use ink resource. It can pay for cards or empower card effects, and it can be spent on the turn it is created. It is not a permanent increase in available ink.

Should I spend an ink drop early or save it?

Compare what it enables now with what you could do later. Ravensburger’s prerelease guide suggests spending early to establish characters or saving resources to play a high-cost card ahead of schedule. A specific payoff, such as Intense Research looking at five cards instead of two, is another possible use. The board and cards in hand determine which is more valuable.

Is a Coco music deck the best Hyperia City deck?

The set’s prerelease guidance highlights Coco glimmers’ interest in music and singing and points to their tuneful and harmonizing abilities. That makes the theme a supported place to start exploring, but it does not establish a dominant list or guarantee that every Sealed pool can build one.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is there a proven Hyperia City constructed deck list yet?

This guide is dated before general release on October 23, 2026. The available set guidance does not establish a best-performing ink combination, a proven constructed list, matchup advice, or tournament results. Treat early builds as hypotheses and test them.

Where should I check card wording and legality?

Use Ravensburger’s official Hyperia City card gallery for card details and its October 8, 2026 set release notes for clarifications and corrections. Check legality for the format you intend to play; one card’s legality listing does not establish every card’s status.

Should I buy booster packs or singles to build a deck?

Boosters are randomized and do not guarantee particular cards. Packs are one way to get Hyperia City cards; if you know the exact cards you need, singles are another route. Check current retailer stock and regional availability before buying.

The Bottom Line

Build for the format you are actually playing: six packs and 40 cards for prerelease Sealed, or a separately checked legality and card plan for constructed. Explore the Coco music theme if your cards support it, and treat each ink drop as a one-time timing choice—use it for the board, a high-cost play, or an improved effect only when that opportunity is worth its cost. Until Hyperia City’s October 23, 2026 general release and subsequent event results, constructed lists are starting points, not proven recommendations.
