To switch to H2O Wireless with your own phone, first check its IMEI with H2O and confirm it is unlocked. Then choose a physical SIM or eSIM, select a plan, activate service, and—if you want to keep your number—start a transfer from your current carrier. Compatibility depends on the exact device, and number transfers can take time, so check eligibility and transfer requirements before canceling existing service.
Can you bring your own phone to H2O Wireless?
Yes, H2O Wireless accepts compatible customer-owned phones. That does not mean every model or every feature will work: check the phone’s IMEI through H2O’s BYOD and eSIM page or activation flow, and make sure the device is unlocked. H2O’s terms also note that some services may not work on some devices. Check coverage at the places you use your phone most, including home, work, and regular travel locations.
Find the IMEI in your phone’s settings, then enter it in H2O’s checker or activation flow. Use the result for the exact handset you plan to activate; compatibility should not be inferred from a brand name alone.

- Check the phone. Confirm it is unlocked and submit its IMEI to H2O’s device checker. Review coverage for your usual locations.
- Choose a SIM type. Select a physical SIM if your phone has a usable SIM tray, or eSIM if the exact phone supports it. H2O’s physical card is a three-in-one SIM for standard, micro, and nano slots; eSIM avoids waiting for a mailed card but is available only on compatible devices. - Choose a plan. Compare the data threshold before reduced speeds, hotspot allowance, international benefits, and the plan’s Broadband Facts disclosure—not just the advertised monthly price. Current examples are listed below.
- Start activation. Go to H2O’s activation flow, choose “Activate a New Line or Transfer,” and follow the prompts for your SIM type and device.
- Transfer your number if desired. Select the transfer option and follow H2O’s current instructions. Have a bill from your existing carrier available. Ask that carrier for the precise account and security details required for a transfer; requirements can vary by provider.
- Test the new line. Check calls, texts, mobile data, voicemail, and any features you depend on. If data does not work, use the troubleshooting section below.

Prices and benefits can change; check the live plan page and Broadband Facts for the selected plan and your location. Displayed plan prices are not necessarily the total bill: H2O’s disclosures identify additional charges, including a Federal Universal Service Fund and an Administrative & Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee, and government taxes vary by location.

What to know before transferring your number
H2O says port completion is not guaranteed. Keep your current line active until the transfer finishes; do not treat the old service as canceled while the port is still processing. H2O warns that some services, including 911 location services, may not be immediately available during a transfer.

Fix mobile data after activation
Android: check the APN
If calls or texts work but mobile data does not, H2O’s SIM configuration guide says to check the Access Point Names (APN) settings. Menu labels vary across Android versions and manufacturers. The guide lists these settings:

- Open your phone’s Access Point Names settings and enter or verify the values above.
- Save the APN and select it as the active profile.
- Restart the phone, turn Wi-Fi off, and test mobile data.
If data still fails, contact H2O technical support.
iPhone: reset network settings if needed
H2O says iPhone settings are set automatically when an H2O SIM is inserted and cannot be changed manually. If service does not work as expected, its guide recommends resetting network settings. The precise menu labels can vary by iOS version; be aware that a network reset can remove saved network settings.
