You can bring W-2 information into an H&R Block tax return by following the import prompts available in your account. H&R Block says imported W-2 and employer information can be edited as you prepare your return. The precise buttons and supported employers may vary, so check the figures against your original form before filing.
Import your W-2 into your H&R Block return

Sign in to your H&R Block account and open the return for the tax year you are filing.

Follow the import or document prompts shown in your return. H&R Block says it can import tax information that includes W-2 and employer information, but its support page does not specify a universal sequence of buttons or list participating employers. See H&R Block’s import support page.

If your account offers document capture, use the phone-photo option and follow the on-screen instructions. H&R Block’s 2026 reviewers guide describes this as Scan & Go; availability can depend on the account, product tier, and tax year. Review the information brought into the return and compare it with your W-2 before filing. If import is not offered or does not work for you, use the available upload or photo option, or enter the information from the form manually.
Check the imported information against your W-2
Compare the employer details and the wage and tax-withholding amounts shown in your return with the original W-2. H&R Block says imported fields can be edited as you work through the return. Correct any discrepancy in the return, and contact your employer if the W-2 itself appears wrong. H&R Block explains the form and how to address errors in its W-2 guide.

Know which kind of import you are using
Importing a current-year W-2 is different from transferring details from a prior-year tax return. H&R Block’s 2026 reviewers guide uses “Direct Import” for transferring prior-year TurboTax return fields into H&R Block, and separately describes Scan & Go and W-2 document import. A prior-year transfer is not a substitute for bringing the current year’s W-2 into your return.

W-2 has not arrived
Import requires the form or available document information. H&R Block says employers generally provide W-2s by mail or electronically; if yours is missing, contact your employer. Its guidance is available in the W-2 guide.

W-2 contains an error
Contact your employer and ask for a corrected form rather than relying on an import to fix incorrect source information. Once you have the corrected details, make sure the return reflects them.
