To board the Frigate, wait until the Frigate map condition is active, approach the ship’s rear, and reach one of the circular ARC platforms deployed beneath it. Get onto a platform while it is low, stand in its center, and use Disrupt. The platform carries you upward; step onto the hull when it reaches the ship. The approach is exposed to the Frigate’s underside weapon and to hostile Raiders, so check the surrounding area first and do not begin the ride while a squad has a clear view of you.
What the Frigate is and why boarding is dangerous
The Frigate is an encounter added with the Frozen Trail update through the “Frigate & Redirection” map conditions. The developer describes it as a substantial challenge for highly skilled Raiders, with internal passageways, routes that must be unlocked, and ARC enemies defending the interior. That framing matters: reaching the hull is only the entry step, not proof that the vessel is safe or that you must clear every room.
Current launch-week walkthroughs describe the boarding device as a round ARC drone or platform that deploys beneath the ship. You climb or grapple onto the platform, disrupt it from the center, and ride it toward the Frigate. Guides identify this approach as the most exposed part of the encounter because your movement is limited while you wait for a platform and during the ascent. The Frigate’s underside weapon may target the approach, and another Raider squad can attack from nearby. Enemy behavior, platform timing, and the surrounding player situation can change between raids or after a patch, so treat these as current tactical observations rather than guarantees.

You do not select one permanently fixed Frigate location. The Frigate appears as a map condition, and current guides report it on more than one map. Before deploying, open the map screen and confirm that the Frigate condition is active for the map you are about to enter. If the condition is absent, changing your route or searching the normal map will not produce the encounter.

Use the active-condition indicator
- Check the map’s current condition before committing to a raid.
- Do not rely on a remembered map, landmark, or rotation from an earlier session; live rotations are subject to change.
- Once inside the raid, use the condition and the ship’s visible silhouette to orient yourself rather than assuming a single permanent approach point.
The Frigate’s exact rotation and enemy placement are live-service details. A guide’s listed map observations are time-bound, so an old route can be wrong even when the boarding mechanic remains the same.
What should you bring before attempting the boarding?
Guides recommend entering with plenty of ammunition and healing. The recommendation is practical rather than a tested minimum: you may need to defend yourself on the approach, inside the Frigate, or while disengaging from another squad. Bring enough supplies for the objective you actually intend to complete, and avoid treating a quest attempt as an automatic full-clear run.
Useful in-game movement equipment
A Grappling or Snap Hook can help you reach a low platform or recover from an awkward approach. These are in-game items, not real-world equipment, and they do not remove the need to watch for the underside weapon or other players. A hook gives you another way to get onto the platform; it does not make the ascent protected.

- Quest attempt: plan to board, find the required enemy types, damage them, and leave when the objectives register.
- Exploration or full clear: reserve more ammunition, healing, and time for passageways, locked paths, and ARC defenders.
- Opportunity boarding: if the condition is active but the approach is watched, wait for a safer opening instead of forcing the ride.
How do you get on top of the Frigate?
The reported method is a short sequence: approach the rear, wait for a circular platform to descend, stand on it, use Disrupt, and step onto the hull at the top. The timing is deliberate; jumping at the ship without the platform does not replace the boarding interaction.

- Confirm the condition. Verify on the map screen that the Frigate condition is active in the current raid.
- Move toward the ship’s rear. Use cover and listen for nearby activity while closing the distance. The rear is the area identified by current guides for finding the deployed platforms.
- Observe before entering the open ground. Look for other Raiders, the direction of fire from the underside weapon, and a platform that is low enough to reach. Do not expose yourself merely because the ship is visible.
- Choose a circular ARC platform. Wait for one to deploy or descend within reach. If it is moving away or is too high, remain under cover and watch for the next usable position.
- Get onto the platform. Climb onto it or use a Grappling or Snap Hook if your in-game loadout provides one. Keep your movement controlled; the platform is the boarding route, not a permanent safe room.
- Stand in the center and use Disrupt. Activate the interaction when you are positioned on the platform. The disruption starts the lift toward the Frigate.
- Ride the ascent. Stay alert during the exposed ride. A squad that was out of sight when you started can still see or attack you while the platform carries you upward.
- Step onto the hull. When the platform reaches the ship, move from it onto the Frigate rather than assuming the interaction has completed the boarding for you.
If the interaction prompt does not appear, check that you are standing on the platform rather than beside it and that you have reached its central area. If the platform is not low, waiting is safer than attempting an unsupported jump.
How can you make the exposed approach safer?
There is no guaranteed safe route across the open ground. The strongest protection is choosing when not to start. Current guides specifically warn that the player is slow and exposed near the platforms and that the underside weapon may target the approach.
Check the firing lane first
Pause at cover with a view of the platform area. Identify where the ship’s underside weapon is directing pressure and whether a nearby squad has a direct line of fire. If either threat controls the route, stay concealed and wait for movement, a distraction, or a clearer platform cycle. “Clear” means clear enough to attempt the crossing in your lobby, not permanently free of danger.

Do not let the platform become a trap
A platform can carry you toward the ship, but once you use Disrupt your movement options are restricted by the ride. Starting the ascent while enemies are watching can turn a successful interaction into an easy target. If you see a squad holding the area, do not ride up alone; either coordinate a simultaneous push or abandon the attempt and reposition.

Use team roles without assuming safety
With a squad, one player can watch the approach and the likely enemy angle while another waits for the platform. Keep the plan simple: call the platform’s position, confirm that the lane is open, then board. A teammate watching the ground does not make the platform immune to the underside weapon, and it does not guarantee that a second squad is absent.
Solo boarding requires a stricter threshold
Solo players cannot cover the approach and the ascent at the same time. Wait longer for a quiet window, keep healing available, and avoid beginning the ride merely because a platform is reachable. If another squad is visibly set up around the ship, leaving the area is often safer than trying to outshoot them while immobilized.
How do you complete the Boarding the Frigate quest in ARC Raiders?
Celeste’s introductory quest asks you to find a way onto the Frigate and damage three enemy types: a Hydra, a Vaporizer, and a Rocketeer. A launch-week walkthrough states that kills are not required for these objectives. You therefore do not need to eliminate every named unit, and the quest does not itself require a complete Frigate clear.

- Enter a raid while the Frigate condition is active.
- Board by using a low circular platform, Disrupting it from the center, and stepping onto the hull.
- Search the accessible interior for a Hydra, Vaporizer, and Rocketeer.
- Deal damage to each required enemy type. Confirm the objective tracker updates before moving on.
- Leave once the objectives are complete unless you have deliberately chosen to continue exploring or fighting.
Because damage is sufficient according to the walkthrough, avoid spending resources on a prolonged fight solely to secure final blows. If a target is heavily defended, take a controlled shot, break line of sight, and reassess rather than turning the introductory objective into an unnecessary clear.

Quest completion versus a full Frigate clear

Solo or squad: which boarding plan fits?
Neither approach has a documented success-rate advantage. The useful distinction is how much of the exposed approach your group can monitor and how much risk you are willing to accept.

What to do after you reach the hull
Reaching the top does not mean the encounter has ended. The Frigate’s design includes interior passageways, routes that can be unlocked, and ARC enemies. Move from the platform onto the hull, then orient yourself before pushing deeper. If your goal is the Celeste quest, look for the three required enemy types and register damage rather than wandering into every available fight.
For a quest-focused run
- Keep enough ammunition and healing for the target encounters and the return trip.
- Engage only when you can identify the required enemy type and have an exit or cover option.
- Verify each damage objective before leaving the interior.
- Extract once the tracker confirms completion unless you intentionally accept the additional risk of exploration.
For exploration
Expect the vessel’s locked paths and ARC defenses to add work beyond boarding. The official encounter description does not provide a universal room-by-room route, and current guides do not establish a guaranteed sequence for every raid. Adapt to the paths available in that run rather than treating a launch-week map memory as permanent.
Troubleshooting common boarding failures
The Frigate is not visible
Recheck the map condition. The encounter is tied to an active condition and is reported on more than one map; it is not guaranteed on every deployment.

A platform is present but too high
Do not force a jump across open ground. Wait for the platform to descend or for another platform cycle. A Grappling or Snap Hook may help when the platform is reachable, but it does not replace the need to avoid hostile fire.
Disrupt is not available
Move fully onto the platform and stand in its center. The reported interaction is performed there; being beside the platform or on its edge may not satisfy the prompt.
You are attacked during the ride
The ascent is exposed by design. If you started while a squad had a line of fire, the safest correction is to avoid repeating that timing: disengage when possible, heal, and wait for a new opening. There is no evidence that the platform itself protects you from every player or weapon.

The quest tracker has not advanced
Confirm that you damaged the correct enemy type—Hydra, Vaporizer, or Rocketeer—and that the tracker registered the hit. The walkthrough requirement is damage, not necessarily a kill, so do not assume an unregistered objective needs a full elimination until you have verified the target and damage event.
What the current evidence does—and does not—promise
