To block websites on a Samsung phone or tablet, start with the child’s account and the browser they use. Samsung account Family settings can manage web content in Samsung Internet for a child profile, while Google Family Link offers site controls for a supervised child using Chrome. If you want to block one exact site, use a block-list option; if you want tighter access, choose approved-sites-only. Explicit-site filtering is a separate option and is not a guarantee that every unsuitable page will be blocked.

Choose the control that matches the browser

There is no single Galaxy setting that blocks a custom list of websites across every browser. Choose the control based on the account and app the child uses.

Control Best fit Restriction style
Samsung account Family > Web content Child profile using Samsung Internet, where supported Allow all, allow selected sites, or try to block explicit sites
Google Family Link Supervised child Google account using Chrome Block individual entries, allow only approved sites, or try to block explicit sites
Samsung Kids My Browser Child using Samsung’s managed environment Controlled browsing experience; Samsung does not describe it as a general custom site-by-site list

These controls are tied to their respective child accounts and browser experiences. Do not assume a restriction set for Samsung Internet or Chrome also applies to another browser installed on the device.

Block or allow websites with Samsung account Family

Samsung UK documents this route for supported devices: Settings > Samsung account > Family > child profile > Web content. From there, a parent can choose which sites to approve or block for the child. The exact options and availability can vary by region, account setup, software version, and device.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  1. Open Settings on the Galaxy device and select Samsung account.
  2. Open Family and select the child profile.
  3. Tap Web content.
  4. Choose the restriction mode that fits your goal, then add or approve websites if that option is available.

Samsung’s guidance describes three modes: allow all sites, allow only sites chosen by the parent, or Try to block explicit sites. For blocking a particular website, use the relevant blocked-site or approval controls shown for the child profile. For the strictest browsing boundary, an allow-only-selected-sites mode is narrower than a category filter.

Check local eligibility

Samsung’s U.S. family-controls page says child-account parental controls can be applied to Galaxy devices running One UI 5.1 or later (Samsung U.S. guidance). Samsung UK’s Galaxy for Families guide gives One UI 6.1 or later (Samsung UK guidance). Because the stated minimum differs by region, check the support page for your country and the menus on your device rather than treating either version threshold as universal. Samsung’s September 2024 guide explains the three web-content modes (Samsung parental-controls guide).

Set website rules for Chrome with Google Family Link

Use Family Link when the child has a supervised Google account and browses in Chrome. Google’s documented path is Family Link app > child > Controls > Google Chrome and Web. Family Link supports allowing all sites except manually blocked ones, trying to block explicit sites, or allowing only approved sites. Under the site controls, parents can add entries to Approved sites and Blocked sites (Google’s Chrome and child-account guidance).

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the Family Link app and select the child.
  2. Go to Controls, then Google Chrome and Web.
  3. Choose the browsing mode: allow all with selected blocks, try to block explicit sites, or only allow approved sites.
  4. Add the website under Blocked sites or Approved sites, as appropriate.

Choose between a website entry and a domain entry

Google distinguishes a specific website from a domain. A website entry such as www.google.com does not automatically cover differently prefixed or suffixed sites. A domain entry applies across related site variants. If you need to restrict a whole family of related addresses, use the domain form offered by Family Link rather than assuming one URL entry covers them all.

When Samsung Kids is the better fit

Samsung Kids provides a managed child environment that includes My Browser, a browser Samsung describes as safe browsing that parents can control and monitor. It can be useful when you want a child-oriented space rather than unrestricted access to the regular device interface (Samsung Kids on Galaxy).

Do not confuse website blocking with browser security or ad blocking

  • Safe Browsing: Samsung Browser places this under Settings > Security and privacy. It warns about unsafe websites; it is not a parent-curated list of sites to block (Samsung Browser help).
  • Content and ad blockers: Samsung Browser can use third-party apps certified by Samsung through Tools > Ad blockers. These aim to prevent unnecessary content, not enforce a parent’s custom website allow/block list (Samsung Browser FAQ).
  • Secure Wi-Fi: This feature focuses on encrypting traffic and blocking tracking apps on public Wi-Fi, with availability limits. It does not let you choose particular websites to block (Samsung Secure Wi-Fi help).

Troubleshoot a site that still opens

  • Confirm the child uses the controlled browser. A rule configured for Chrome or Samsung Internet may not cover other browsers.
  • Check the selected mode. “Try to block explicit sites” is a category filter, while a specific block entry or approved-sites-only mode is intended for more targeted control.
  • Review the exact address or domain. In Family Link, a website entry may not cover differently prefixed or suffixed versions; use a domain entry if the rule should apply across related variants.
  • Verify the right child profile and account. Samsung Family settings apply through the Samsung child profile; Family Link rules require the supervised Google account.
  • Check regional and software availability. If the menu is missing, consult Samsung support for your country and check the Galaxy’s One UI version; Samsung’s published U.S. and UK thresholds differ.
