To block ads in Samsung Internet, install a compatible third-party content blocker from the browser’s Ad blockers menu, then enable Block pop-ups separately in Privacy dashboard. These controls reduce advertising inside Samsung Internet; they are not a phone-wide ad switch and will not normally remove ads from other browsers or apps.

Samsung describes the listed add-ons as third-party apps certified for Browser. As Samsung puts it in its Browser FAQ, the feature is available only with third-party apps certified by Samsung. That is why Samsung Internet presents a catalog of compatible apps instead of one built-in, universal ad-blocking switch.

Before you start
- Open Samsung Internet itself. Samsung support material may call the same app Samsung Browser.
- Update Samsung Internet through the Galaxy Store or your phone’s available app-update mechanism if an update is offered. A newer version may use different menu wording.
- Have enough storage and a working connection to install the selected blocker.
- Expect the list of available blockers, their prices and their settings to vary. Samsung says some are free and some cost money; inspect the listing before downloading.
- Remember that Samsung’s broad Browser compatibility statement covers Galaxy phones running Android 5.0 or later. It does not establish that every blocker is available on every device or in every region.
- Decide whether you want ordinary page ads reduced, pop-up windows stopped, or both. The two controls are independent, so enabling only one may leave the other type of interruption unchanged.
Install and enable an ad blocker in Samsung Internet
Use the browser’s own catalog rather than installing an unrelated phone-wide cleaner that claims to block everything. Samsung’s documented workflow is:
- Open Samsung Internet. Launch the browser from your app list or home screen. If you have several browsers installed, check the name before continuing.
- Open the browser menu. Depending on the version, tap the icon with three horizontal lines, or open the Tools menu represented by three vertical dots. Samsung’s support pages show both styles.
- Tap Ad blockers. This opens the compatible blocker list. The exact names and number of entries can change over time.
- Review an entry before installing. You may be able to tap the app name for its description, publisher information and pricing. Choose an option that is actually listed on your phone rather than assuming a blocker advertised for another browser will integrate with Samsung Internet.
- Tap the install or download control. Complete any store confirmation or permission prompt shown by your device. Read the listing’s details, including whether it is free or paid, before accepting a purchase.
- Check the Installed list. Samsung says, “Once the Ad blocker is installed, it will be automatically turned on and added to the Installed list.” If its switch is off, turn it on there. The automatic-on behavior is Samsung’s documented behavior, but checking the switch is still worthwhile after installation or an update.
- Open a normal web page in a new tab. Check that the page loads correctly and that the type of advertising you wanted to reduce is affected. Blocking is applied within supported Samsung Internet pages, not to unrelated apps.
Samsung permits installing additional blockers, but running several at once can make troubleshooting harder and may create unnecessary filtering conflicts. Start with one, learn its controls and add another only when you have a specific reason. If you later remove a blocker, revisit the Installed list so you know which protection remains active.
Turn on pop-up blocking separately
A content blocker and pop-up protection are different settings. Enable both if your goal is to reduce ordinary advertising and unwanted windows:
- Open Samsung Internet.
- Tap Menu. On some versions this is the three-line icon; on others, open the three-dot Tools menu first.
- Tap Settings.
- Open Privacy dashboard.
- Turn on Block pop-ups.
The setting targets pop-up windows opened by websites. It does not mean that every banner, sponsored result, autoplay promotion or advert embedded directly in a page will be removed. Conversely, a page can have no obvious pop-up and still contain advertising that a content blocker may filter.

See what Samsung Internet reports as blocked
Samsung’s privacy dashboard can display counts for blocked material, including trackers and ads. To view it, open the browser’s Tools menu and tap Privacy. Depending on the version, the page may also include warnings about malicious sites and a control for blocking automatic downloads.
Use the figures as an indication of activity on the pages you visited, not as a completeness score. A page can still display an advert even when the dashboard reports blocked content, and different sites use different delivery methods. The count also does not tell you that every tracker associated with a page was stopped, nor does it measure performance, battery savings or data savings.

If the privacy page is not in exactly that location, look for a Privacy entry inside the browser’s Tools or Menu area. Samsung’s labels and icon placement can change between Browser releases, so a missing word or different icon does not necessarily mean the feature has been removed.
Choose a blocker without assuming one is universally best
There is no documented comparative test that establishes one listed blocker as the fastest, most private or most effective for every Galaxy owner. Make the decision from information visible in your own Ad blockers screen:
- Availability: Pick an app that appears in the catalog for your device and region. A name seen in an older article may not be listed for your phone.
- Price: Samsung notes that listings may be free or paid. Confirm the current terms in the listing rather than relying on an old article or a different country’s store page.
- Documented controls: Read which types of content the publisher says it filters and whether it offers site-specific or advertising-preference controls.
- Maintenance: Prefer a listing that explains how it is updated and supported for Samsung Browser.
- Compatibility: A blocker certified for Samsung Browser may not work in another browser, even if both are installed on the same phone.
- Conflict potential: If one blocker already meets your needs, adding several may make it difficult to identify which filter caused a broken page.
Do not treat a high blocked-count number, a store rating or a claim such as blocks all ads as proof that every site will look identical. Websites can change their ad delivery, and some pages depend on scripts that a blocker may also filter. Acceptable Ads and all-ads blocking
Some blockers expose their own advertising-policy choices. For example, Adblock Plus documents an optional Acceptable Ads setting for its Samsung Browser product. Its help guidance says that choosing to block all ads also blocks ads it classifies as nonintrusive, and its setup flow offers No, I’d like to disable Acceptable Ads.

This is an Adblock Plus option, not a Samsung Internet default. If you install that particular add-on, open its own settings and choose the preference you want. Other blockers may use different names or offer no equivalent switch. The choice can affect how many ordinary ads are filtered, but it does not change the add-on’s browser-only scope.
Understand the browser-only scope
Ad blocking in Samsung Internet is not the same as filtering traffic across the Galaxy phone. Adblock Plus states that its Android product works only with Samsung Browser and cannot block ads in other browsers or in apps such as YouTube, games or social media.

That limitation applies even when the other app shows an advert over content that looks like a web page. The Samsung Internet add-on is attached to Samsung Internet’s browser environment; it is not a general-purpose system service. Installing a second browser or changing Samsung Internet’s settings will not make the blocker operate inside that other app.
This distinction answers another common question: “Why am I still seeing ads outside my browser?” The short answer is that those ads are being delivered by a different app or service and are outside the supported content-blocker workflow.
Troubleshoot common problems
The Ad blockers menu is missing
- Confirm that you opened Samsung Internet rather than another browser.
- Look for both possible menu paths: the three-line Menu icon and the three-dot Tools menu.
- Update the browser and reopen it.
- Check whether your device, Android release or region supports the catalog. Samsung’s Android 5.0-or-later statement is broad and does not guarantee every listing.
- Look for a separate Tools or More section if the first menu is compact; some versions hide less-used features behind another tap.

The blocker installed but ads remain on a page
- Open Menu or Tools > Ad blockers and verify that the blocker is enabled in Installed.
- Reload the page or open it in a fresh tab. A page already open before installation may need to be loaded again.
- Check whether the advert is part of the site’s page content rather than a separate pop-up.
- Review the blocker’s own settings for an allowlist, site exception or advertising-preference option.

- Check the Privacy view for activity, but do not use its count as proof that every visible element should disappear.

A site’s layout or sign-in stops working
Filtering can remove scripts or page elements that a site needs. First confirm whether the problem disappears when the installed blocker is temporarily disabled. If it does, use the blocker’s site-specific exception or allowlist feature if one is provided, and re-enable filtering for other sites.
Do not disable all privacy controls immediately. Test one change at a time: turn off the blocker for the affected site, reload, and then restore it after you finish. This makes it easier to tell whether the blocker caused the problem or whether the site itself is temporarily unavailable.

Ads appear on the home screen or inside other apps
Those ads are outside Samsung Internet’s scope. Samsung advises checking for a third-party app that may be responsible, especially one installed or updated shortly before the problem began. Use the phone’s Safe mode procedure to see whether the behavior stops, then review and remove suspicious recent apps using Samsung’s support guidance. A browser content blocker will not clean up an app that displays its own advertising.
Do not assume that an ad appearing on top of another screen came from Samsung Internet. If it appears when the browser is closed, during a game, or on the home screen, investigate recently installed or updated apps instead of repeatedly reinstalling the browser add-on.
The privacy dashboard shows blocked items, but I still see adverts
