To stop a browser game from using your camera, microphone, or precise location, deny the game site’s permission in your browser. Open the game’s site-permissions panel, set the relevant control to Block or Deny, and save. For a broader camera or microphone lockout on Windows, also review Settings > Privacy & security > Camera or Microphone. Browser permissions and operating-system permissions are separate: both must allow access before a game can use protected hardware.
These controls may disable game features that rely on voice chat, video, motion sensing, or location. The steps below cover Chrome on a computer, Firefox on desktop, Safari on Mac, Microsoft Edge, and Windows device-level settings.
What blocking a permission actually does
A browser game cannot normally open a camera, microphone, or precise-location service simply because the page loaded. The browser asks for permission and stores your decision for that site. You can revoke an earlier decision or prevent future requests.

There are two permission layers for camera and microphone:

- Economical &Reusable: Built durable materials with a long-lasting battery, our CAGIWIRU air duster it's a sustainable alternative to disposable air cans.
- Browser site permission: controls whether that particular domain may request and use the device through the browser.
- Operating-system permission: controls whether the browser, or desktop applications generally, may use the hardware.
Both layers must permit access. Blocking the site in the browser is the narrowest option. Blocking camera or microphone access for the browser in Windows is broader and can affect every site and other browser features.
Location has an additional limitation. A browser’s precise-location permission controls access to the location service supplied by the operating system. It does not make every form of approximate location inference impossible; a site can still estimate a region from information such as an IP address.
Choose the right control first
| Goal | Best control | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Stop one game using the camera | Set Camera to Block or Deny in that site’s browser permissions | One website |
| Stop one game using the microphone | Set Microphone to Block or Deny in that site’s browser permissions | One website |
| Stop one game receiving precise location | Set Location to Block or Deny for that site | One website |
| Prevent most sites from requesting camera or microphone | Use the browser’s global camera or microphone settings, such as Chrome’s “Never allow” choices or Firefox’s block-new-requests option | Many websites in that browser |
| Prevent the browser from using camera or microphone at device level | Windows Settings > Privacy & security > Camera or Microphone | Windows-wide, subject to system exceptions |
Use the one-site option when you trust other sites but not the game. Use a global browser setting when you want every new site to ask less often or be refused by default. Use Windows controls when the browser itself should not be able to reach the hardware. These choices are independent, so changing one does not automatically change another.

Chrome on a computer
Block the current game site
- Open the game in Chrome.
- Select the site-information icon to the left of the web address.
- Choose Site settings.
- Find Camera, Microphone, or Location, then choose Block (or the equivalent deny choice shown by your version).
- Close the settings page and reload the game if it was already open.
Chrome saves the change automatically. If the panel offers Reset permissions, use it to clear customized decisions for the site; the game will have to ask again the next time it requests access. Resetting is useful when you are unsure whether an old Allow decision is still attached to the domain.
Manage all camera or microphone decisions
- Open Chrome’s menu and select Settings.
- Go to Privacy and security > Site settings.
- Select Camera or Microphone.
- Review the allowed and blocked lists. Select the game domain and change its setting, or remove the entry to clear the stored decision.
Chrome’s permission prompts can include choices such as Allow this time, Allow while visiting the site, and Never allow. Choose the permanent blocking option when you do not want the game to ask again. “Allow this time” is temporary, while “Allow while visiting the site” lasts for the current visit rather than functioning as a permanent exception.
Chrome may remove permissions from sites you have not used recently. As Google explains, “To protect your data, Chrome removes permissions from sites that you haven’t used recently.” A previously saved decision can therefore disappear after inactivity. Labels can vary with Chrome version or an administrator’s policy.

Firefox on desktop
Block a game’s camera or microphone entry
- Open Firefox and select the application menu.
- Choose Settings, then open Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to Permissions.
- Select Settings beside Camera or Microphone.
- Locate the game’s domain, set its status to Block, and save the change.
In the same dialog, enable Block new requests asking to access your camera or Block new requests asking to access your microphone if you want Firefox to reject future requests broadly instead of deciding site by site. This is a browser-wide choice for new requests; it does not necessarily erase every existing site entry, so review the list as well.
Change the permission for the open page
With the game open, select the permissions icon in Firefox’s address bar. The panel shows the current camera and microphone decisions. Selecting the X beside an allowed or blocked status clears that saved decision; Firefox will ask again on the next visit. Clearing is different from blocking: use it when you want a fresh prompt, not when you want a permanent refusal.
If the page never displays a prompt, open Page Info > Permissions, clear Use Default for Camera or Microphone, and select Block. Mozilla warns that “You may not be able to use certain features or the site altogether if you block camera and microphone access.”
These desktop instructions are different from Firefox’s device-level permissions on Android or iOS, which govern what the Firefox app itself may do on the device. Do not assume that a desktop site entry is present in the mobile app or that a mobile app permission blocks one game domain.
Safari on Mac
Deny camera, microphone, or location for one game
- In Safari, choose Safari > Settings > Websites.
- Select Camera, Microphone, or Location in the sidebar.
- Find the game’s domain in the website list.
- Open its menu and select Deny.
Safari’s choices are generally Ask, Deny, and Allow. Choose Ask if you want to decide at the next visit; choose Deny to stop requests without another prompt. Safari also provides a When visiting other websites default for sites that do not have an individual entry. Set that default to Deny if you want new sites to be refused automatically, then add exceptions only when needed.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For the site currently open, use Safari’s Page menu and choose Website Settings to reach the same per-site controls. These menu paths apply to Safari on Mac. Apple documents camera and microphone privacy settings as device-specific rather than shared across Apple devices, so do not assume a Mac decision is automatically applied to an iPhone or iPad. Other website settings may be shared, but the privacy-sensitive camera and microphone controls are not.

Microsoft Edge
Block camera or microphone for one domain
- Open Edge’s menu and select Settings.
- Go to Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All sites.
- Select the game’s domain.
- Set Camera and/or Microphone to Block.
You can also open the game, select the information or permissions icon beside the address, and change the media permission from that site panel. If the game uses a separate sign-in or embedded domain, check each domain that appears in the address bar; blocking only the launcher domain may not change a permission stored for the actual game host.
Block precise location
- Open Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All permissions > Location.
- To stop Edge asking every site, turn off Ask before accessing.
- To block only the game, open the game’s address-bar information or permissions menu and set Location to Block.
By default, Edge asks before sharing precise location. Windows can estimate location from signals such as an IP address, nearby Wi-Fi access points, and GPS data when available. Turning off Windows location services therefore does not guarantee that a website cannot infer an approximate region; the Edge permission determines whether precise location supplied through its location mechanism is shared.
Windows device-level camera and microphone controls
Use Windows controls when you want to prevent the browser from using the hardware at all, not merely stop one game.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Open Settings.
- Select Privacy & security.
- Choose Camera or Microphone.
- Review the switches for device access, app access, and desktop-app access. Turn off the category that includes your browser if you want a broader block.
Windows-level permission is not a substitute for the browser’s site decision. Even when Edge is enabled in Windows, an individual game still needs browser permission. Conversely, disabling Windows access can stop every site in that browser from using the hardware and may affect other software.
Desktop applications do not always appear as separate entries in the Windows list. Windows Hello may also use the camera for sign-in even when ordinary app access is disabled, so distinguish a browser-game block from a complete prohibition on every camera use. Microsoft’s Edge guidance treats operating-system privacy settings, Edge site permissions, and hardware or driver availability as separate prerequisites for media capture. A failed capture request can therefore reflect a disabled device, missing driver, blocked browser, or blocked site.
How to confirm the game is blocked
- Reload the game after changing the setting. A page that was already open may retain its previous media session until it is refreshed.
- Open the browser’s site-information or permissions panel again and verify that Camera, Microphone, or Location shows Blocked or Deny.
- Watch for the browser’s permission indicator near the address bar. It should not show an active camera or microphone connection for the game.
- If the game still reports access, close other game tabs, quit and reopen the browser, and check the operating-system permission layer.
A browser block controls requests made through that browser permission mechanism. It does not control a separate native game application, another browser, or hardware access granted directly to another program. If another application’s indicator is active, identify that application rather than assuming the game bypassed the browser setting.

Troubleshooting common problems
The game still asks for permission
- Confirm that you changed the permission for the exact domain, including a different subdomain used for login or a game frame.
- In Chrome, remove the site from an allowed list or use Reset permissions, then set the desired permission again.
- In Firefox, clear the address-bar decision with the X, then use Page Info > Permissions to set Camera or Microphone to Block.
- Check whether a school or workplace administrator manages the browser. Managed policies can override or hide ordinary controls. Chrome notes that work or school administrators can manage camera and microphone settings.
The game no longer works correctly
Camera and microphone blocking can disable voice chat, video-based play, identity checks, motion-related input, or another protected feature. The whole site may fail if that feature is required. If you need the feature later, return to the same site-permissions panel, change the setting to Ask or Allow, and reload only after you understand why access is required. Granting access temporarily is preferable to leaving a permanent Allow decision when you only need one session.

That usually means you blocked only the game site, not the browser or Windows. Check Settings > Privacy & security > Camera and Microphone in Windows, then inspect the browser’s global camera and microphone lists. Also verify that another tab or application is not the one currently using the device. Hardware availability and drivers are a separate issue from permission; a device can be visible even though the particular game request is denied.
Location appears to work after you blocked it
Verify the game’s Location entry in the browser. If precise location is blocked but the site still displays a broad city or region, it may be using IP-based estimation or information you supplied to the site. A browser permission cannot eliminate every possible location inference. Blocking Windows location services also does not stop all approximate estimates based on network information.
The permission controls are missing
Update the browser if it is permitted by your administrator, reload the site over a normal secure connection, and check the browser’s main privacy settings rather than only the game interface. Menu names can differ by browser release, operating system, or managed-device policy. On a managed school or work computer, a policy may intentionally prevent local changes; the administrator may need to alter the setting.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.One-site blocking versus an all-site lockdown
For a single browser game, per-site blocking is usually the least disruptive choice: other sites retain their own settings, while the game loses access. Use global browser controls when you want new requests denied across the browser. Firefox’s block-new-requests controls and Chrome’s global Camera or Microphone pages are useful for this approach. Use Windows camera or microphone settings when you need a device-wide restriction that covers multiple browsers and desktop applications. Treat each as a separate decision; changing one layer does not automatically change the others.
Privacy checklist before you play
- Check the game domain in the browser’s site-information panel.
- Set Camera, Microphone, and Location to Block or Deny unless the feature genuinely requires them.
- Review the browser’s global permission lists for old Allow entries.
- On Windows, confirm whether browser desktop-app access is enabled.
- Reload the game and look for an active camera or microphone indicator.
- Remember that precise-location blocking does not prevent all approximate location estimates.
- If a managed school or work device controls the browser, ask the administrator about the policy rather than repeatedly changing local settings.

Is blocking the website enough to disable the camera completely?
It blocks that domain through that browser, but it does not stop another site, another browser, a native application, or Windows features from using the camera. Use Windows camera privacy settings for a broader restriction.
Can a game still know my location after I deny permission?
It cannot receive the precise location supplied through the browser’s location mechanism, but it may estimate an approximate region from an IP address, nearby network information, or details you provided.
What is the difference between Block, Deny, and Ask?
Block or Deny refuses the site’s request. Ask leaves the decision for a future prompt. Chrome may also offer Allow this time or Allow while visiting the site, which are temporary alternatives to a permanent Allow choice.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

The game may rely on voice chat, video, identity verification, motion input, or another protected feature. Mozilla cautions that some features or the entire site may not work when camera or microphone access is blocked.
Does a Mac Safari setting also apply to my iPhone or iPad?
Not necessarily. The documented Safari controls here are for Mac, and Apple says privacy-sensitive camera and microphone settings are not shared across Apple devices.
What if my school or employer controls the setting?
A managed browser can impose camera, microphone, or location policies and may hide or override local controls. Contact the administrator if the setting cannot be changed.
The Bottom Line
For the narrowest block, deny Camera, Microphone, and Location in the game’s own browser site-permissions panel, then reload. If you need a wider camera or microphone lockout, disable browser access in Windows Privacy & security as well. Remember that blocking precise location stops browser-supplied location data, not every approximate location estimate.
