You cannot currently follow a verified boss guide for Kintarō in Ravenswatch because the official material identifies him as a playable Hero DLC character, not as an enemy that players defeat. Passtech’s version 1.6.0 announcement, dated October 12, 2026, introduces Kintarō and Kuma as a playable pair. If you meant a different Ravenswatch boss, identify that enemy before relying on attack-by-attack counter advice.

Is Kintarō a boss in Ravenswatch?

No documented official source reviewed for this article describes Kintarō as a boss or enemy encounter. Passtech’s release wording is “Kintarō joins the Ravenswatch!” and places him in Hero DLC alongside Kuma. The Steam DLC description likewise presents the player as directing Kuma while mounted and controlling Kintarō with the bear when dismounted.

That distinction changes the answer to the search question. A boss guide normally needs enemy telegraphs, attack timing, damage values, arena behavior, and tested responses. The official Kintarō material does not provide those details because it presents a character for the player to control rather than a boss to defeat. No validated sequence for dodging or interrupting a Kintarō boss exists in the supplied official documentation.

What to do if you meant another enemy

Do not silently substitute another Ravenswatch boss for Kintarō. Check the spelling and the enemy’s name in your game, then match the advice to the current platform and patch. A strategy written for a different creature can give you the wrong telegraphs, ranges, or recovery windows.

What Kintarō actually is: a Hero DLC character

Kintarō arrives as a playable hero through Hero DLC. The DLC pairs him with Kuma and gives the character two stances: mounted and dismounted. Each stance has its own named ATTACK, POWER, SPECIAL, and DEFENSE abilities. The package also lists two Ultimate abilities and 26 unlockable Talents.

The Steam listing says the DLC requires the base game. Buying or owning a physical or digital edition of the base game should not be treated as proof that the Hero DLC is included; confirm the edition and platform listing before purchase.

Documented element What the official material establishes What it does not establish
Role Playable Hero introduced through Hero DLC A boss fight or enemy encounter
Partner Kuma, used in mounted mode and present when dismounted Independent enemy AI behavior
Stances Mounted and dismounted, with separate named abilities Exact damage, cooldown, range, or hit timing
Progression Two Ultimates and 26 unlockable Talents A ranking of the Talents or a best build
Health model Kintarō and Kuma share a health bar; Kuma hits transfer as Internal Damage Numerical transfer rate, threshold, or recovery speed

Mounted and dismounted abilities

Passtech’s 1.6.0 announcement names the abilities below. The names establish the move set, but the announcement does not publish frame data, damage numbers, hitboxes, or enemy-counter instructions. Treat the table as a reference for identifying what you see in-game, not as a claim about relative strength.

Stance ATTACK POWER SPECIAL DEFENSE
Mounted Claw Swipes Charge Leap Roar
Dismounted Axe Whirl and Pound Double Leap Roar and Shout

Mounted stance

In mounted mode, the documented controls are associated with Kuma. The named abilities are Claw Swipes for ATTACK, Charge for POWER, Leap for SPECIAL, and Roar for DEFENSE. The source does not say how far Charge travels, how many targets Claw Swipes hits, whether Leap grants invulnerability, or how Roar affects enemies. Those details must be confirmed from the in-game tooltips or current patch notes rather than inferred from the names.

Dismounted stance

When dismounted, the move names change to Axe (ATTACK), Whirl and Pound (POWER), Double Leap (SPECIAL), and Roar and Shout (DEFENSE). The Steam description characterizes this state as controlling Kintarō alongside Kuma. It does not publish a separate health pool, damage formula, or timing chart for the individual abilities.

Ultimates and Talents

The DLC description confirms two Ultimate abilities and 26 unlockable Talents. Official material supplied for this topic does not name those Ultimates or list the Talent effects, so a responsible guide cannot rank them, recommend a specific combination, or claim that one is the universal answer to a particular enemy.

How the shared health bar and Internal Damage work

Kintarō and Kuma share one health bar. When Kuma is hit, the Steam listing says the damage transfers to Kintarō as Internal Damage. Mounting Kuma again helps recover those wounds gradually. The published description gives no recovery rate, delay, cap, or conversion formula.

Practical implications for someone playing Kintarō

  • Read Kuma’s incoming hits as damage to the shared Kintarō–Kuma resource, not as harmless damage to a separate companion.
  • Keep the distinction between ordinary health and Internal Damage visible when evaluating your condition; the official description specifically names the transferred portion Internal Damage.
  • Use the mounted state with the expectation that remounting supports gradual recovery from those wounds, without assuming an instant full heal.
  • Do not report an exact recovery percentage or timing unless a current in-game tooltip or patch note supplies it.

This information supports survivability planning while playing the hero, but it is not a counter strategy against a Kintarō boss. There is no official boss health bar, attack cycle, or Internal Damage mechanic documented for an enemy version of the character.

The version 1.6.0 Trait interaction

Passtech’s 1.6.0 launch notes record the following interaction: “Using Kintaro’s TRAIT ability interrupts the ATTACK and breaks the ATTACK combo”. This is a dated launch-note statement, not a promise that the behavior remains unchanged after later patches.

How to interpret that note

If you are testing the 1.6.0 behavior, activating the Trait during an ATTACK sequence can interrupt that sequence and end the combo. That is the only conclusion supported by the note. It does not provide a damage comparison, an optimal Trait timing, or evidence that the interaction applies identically in every stance.

Because the announcement is tied specifically to version 1.6.0, check later official patch notes and the current in-game behavior before treating the interaction as live advice. A patch may preserve, alter, or remove it.

Why an attack-by-attack “counter Kintarō” list would be misleading

A genuine counter guide needs repeatable observations. The official sources supplied for Kintarō do not include:

Best Value
Ravenswatch: Legendary Edition - Compatible for XSX - UK PAL
  • Brand new UK Import PAL version. Game in English.
  • Enemy-style telegraph descriptions or animation tells.
  • Startup, active, recovery, or cooldown timings.
  • Damage values, stagger thresholds, armor rules, or hitbox measurements.
  • Arena layouts or scripted phases.
  • Validated dodge, block, interrupt, or status-effect responses.
  • A current patch demonstration of Kintarō appearing as a boss.

Without those facts, assigning a dodge direction to Charge, claiming that Roar can be interrupted, or publishing a “safe punish” after Axe would be fabrication. The ability names are useful for recognizing the playable kit; they are not evidence of how an enemy encounter behaves.

A reliable way to resolve the search mismatch

  1. Verify the name. Look at the exact spelling in the game’s UI. Kintarō is the hero name used in the official announcement; a similarly named enemy may be the one you encountered.
  2. Verify the role. Determine whether the character appears in your hero-selection or DLC screen. That is consistent with the official Kintarō documentation. A boss health bar or encounter objective would indicate that you are dealing with another enemy.
  3. Verify the patch. The ability list and Trait interaction cited here come from version 1.6.0 material dated October 12, 2026. Later notes take precedence.
  4. Capture the missing evidence. For a real counter guide, document the attack animation, warning cue, distance, damage, recovery window, and what action successfully avoids or interrupts it.
  5. Match advice to the exact enemy. Once the intended boss is identified, use that boss’s own telegraphs and mechanics rather than Kintarō’s playable move names.

What you can safely use when learning Kintarō

For players who actually mean “How do I play Kintarō?”, the official information supports a focused learning checklist:

  • Learn which stance is active before reading the ability name; ATTACK, POWER, SPECIAL, and DEFENSE change between mounted and dismounted states.
  • Track Kuma’s position because hits to Kuma transfer to the shared health bar as Internal Damage.
  • Recognize that remounting is described as gradual Internal Damage recovery, not an instant reset.
  • Test the Trait outside and inside an ATTACK sequence if you are checking the 1.6.0 combo-interruption note.
  • Confirm current tooltips and patch notes before making a build around any Ultimate or Talent.

These are evidence-based orientation points, not claims that one stance, ability, Ultimate, or Talent is best. The available official descriptions do not contain enough performance data to make that ranking honestly.

Bottom line for the title “How to Beat Kintaro in Ravenswatch”

The premise is unsupported as written: Kintarō is documented as a playable Hero DLC character paired with Kuma, not as a boss. His official kit includes separate mounted and dismounted abilities, a shared health bar with Internal Damage when Kuma is hit, gradual recovery when remounted, two Ultimates, and 26 Talents. Version 1.6.0 also notes that using the Trait interrupts an ATTACK and breaks its combo, subject to confirmation in later patches.

Until an official source or current gameplay evidence identifies a Kintarō enemy encounter, there is no trustworthy attack-by-attack counter guide to publish. If your game shows a different boss, use that enemy’s exact name and current version to find the appropriate strategy.
