The reliable way to ban a player on a FiveM server is through txAdmin. For someone who is online, open Live Console, select the player’s name, choose Ban Player, and submit the ban form. For someone who has already disconnected, use the Players page to find the account by name, notes, or player ID, then ban it from that record.

txAdmin stores the identifiers it knows for that player—such as a Steam ID, Discord ID, FiveM license, or in-game identifier—and applies the ban to those stored identifiers rather than relying on a display name. Your account must have the players.ban permission. The exact labels can vary between txAdmin releases, so treat the paths below as the current workflow described for 2026 and confirm them against the documentation shipped with your installed version.

Choose the right banning method

txAdmin is the main method because it records a ban, associates it with the player’s stored identifiers, and gives staff a history entry to review later. The panel also works when the player is offline. A console-only setup can remove a connected player, but FXServer does not include a built-in ban command; permanent bans require txAdmin or a separate, trusted administration resource.

Situation Recommended route What it can do Important limitation
Player is currently connected txAdmin → Live Console Open the player’s record, enter a reason and other ban details, and apply a stored-identifier ban Requires a staff account with players.ban
Player is offline txAdmin → Players Search by name, notes, or player ID and ban the matching record You must select the correct historical record; a name alone can be ambiguous
You only have an RCON/FXServer console status, then clientkick Disconnect a connected client with a reason This is a kick, not a persistent ban
Your server has a custom administration script That script’s documented command May provide commands such as /ban or /unban Those commands are not built into FXServer or guaranteed to use txAdmin’s ban database

Requirements and checks before you ban

Use an account with the correct permission

The txAdmin permission named players.ban means “Ban/Unban a player.” If the ban controls are missing or disabled, ask the server owner to add that permission to your txAdmin staff role. Being able to view the console or kick someone does not automatically grant permission to create or revoke bans.

Confirm that you have enough identity information

txAdmin can apply a ban only when it has at least one identifier for the player. Depending on what the player presented while connecting, that can include a Steam ID, Discord ID, FiveM license, or an in-game ID. A name is useful for locating a record, but it is not a dependable identity by itself.

Record the reason and evidence

Write a reason that another moderator can understand without asking you for context. Include the rule breached, the relevant round or incident, and a short reference to your evidence if your staff process uses clips, logs, or reports. Avoid entering sensitive personal information in a public-facing reason. A clear reason makes later appeals and unban decisions much easier.

Ban a connected player in txAdmin

This is the quickest route when the player is still on the server.

  1. Open txAdmin. Sign in to the txAdmin panel associated with the FXServer instance you are moderating.
  2. Open Live Console. Select Live Console in the left sidebar. The page lists currently connected players alongside the live server output.
  3. Open the player’s record. Locate the connected player and click the player’s name. Do not rely solely on the numeric in-game ID if several players have recently joined or left.
  4. Choose Ban Player. Use the player action menu and select Ban Player. If this action is unavailable, check your players.ban permission rather than trying an unverified console command.
  5. Complete the ban form. Enter the reason and any other fields shown by your txAdmin version. Read the selected player details and identifiers before submitting.
  6. Submit the ban. Confirm the action. txAdmin stores the ban and disconnects the player as part of the moderation action. The exact confirmation wording can differ by release.
  7. Check the record. Verify that the player appears in txAdmin’s player or history data with the reason, your staff identity, and the generated ban information. Save any supporting evidence according to your server’s retention policy.

Why selecting the record matters

The numeric ID shown during a session is temporary. When a player leaves, that number can be assigned to somebody else later. A ban made after selecting the wrong row can affect the wrong person, while a ban based on a display name can miss an alternate account. Open the profile and inspect the available identifiers before confirming.

Ban an offline player from the Players page

Use this workflow when the offender disconnected before a moderator could act.

  1. Open Players. In txAdmin, go to the Players page rather than Live Console.
  2. Search the stored records. Search using the player’s name, notes, or player ID. Try more than one field if the name is common or has changed.
  3. Match the correct account. Compare the record’s identifiers, previous notes, connection history, and incident details with your evidence. Do not ban a similarly named record without an identifier match.
  4. Open the player actions. Select the matching player record and choose the ban action. txAdmin supports banning and warning offline players; a kick is meaningful only for a currently connected player.
  5. Enter a precise reason and submit. Include the incident date or session context if that helps staff distinguish this case from another report.
  6. Review the saved entry. Confirm that txAdmin lists the ban against the intended player record and that your reason is complete.

What a txAdmin ban covers

A txAdmin ban applies to every identifier txAdmin has stored for the selected player. The stored set may include a Steam ID, Discord ID, FiveM license, and an in-game identifier. This is why a profile-based ban is more durable than blocking a name or a temporary session number.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The ban is not magic identity proof. If a player connects with an identifier txAdmin has never seen, or if your server’s identity integrations do not expose an expected identifier, that identifier cannot be included retroactively. Review the identifiers shown on the player record and keep your staff procedure focused on matching the account to the incident.

What the blocked player sees

On the next connection attempt, the blocked player receives a ban message showing the Ban Reason, Ban Date, Banned by, and Ban ID. Use a factual, professional reason because it becomes part of the player’s explanation for why access was denied.

How to confirm that the ban worked

Do not assume that a browser notification alone proves the action was recorded. Check the player’s txAdmin record or moderation history after submission. Look for the ban status, the reason, the acting staff member, and the ban ID. If your server has a second moderator, have that person verify the entry before closing a high-impact case.

If the player is still visible as connected after you submit the ban, refresh the panel and inspect the live player list. A delayed disconnect can be a browser update issue, a server load issue, or a sign that the action did not complete. Do not repeatedly submit bans while you are unsure whether the first one succeeded; check the history entry first.

Console-only actions when txAdmin is unavailable

The rconlog resource provides a practical console route for removing a connected player. First run:

status

The status output lists connected clients and their current numeric IDs. Then run:

clientkick <id> <reason>

Replace <id> with the number from the current status output and replace <reason> with a concise explanation. For example, the command format is:

clientkick 12 Repeated rule violations

This action is a kick. It disconnects the current session but does not create a persistent txAdmin ban. Because numeric IDs can be reused after a player leaves, run status immediately before the kick and confirm the name or other displayed details. If the incident warrants a ban, use txAdmin when it becomes available or use a separately installed moderation system whose documentation explains how its ban storage works.

Why an in-game /ban command may not work

FXServer does not ship with a universal built-in ban command. Some hosting guides and community server packages show /ban and /unban, but those commands come from custom admin scripts or framework resources. Their syntax, permissions, storage, and identifier matching are implementation-specific.

The product ships with all relevant accessories, a minimum 90-day warranty, and may arrive in a generic box.

Before using such a command, identify which resource registers it and where it stores bans. Confirm that it records persistent identifiers, that only authorized roles can call it, and that another moderator can find and revoke the entry later. A command that merely removes a player from the current session is a kick, regardless of whether it is named “ban.” Do not assume that a custom command synchronizes with txAdmin’s ban list.

How to unban a player

Unbanning requires the same level of identity care as banning. First locate the ban entry and verify the Ban ID, player record, original reason, and identifiers. Do not revoke a ban because a similarly named account appears in a search.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A commonly documented txAdmin workflow is to open the moderation History, find the ban entry, and choose Unban. Menu wording and placement can change between txAdmin versions, and this path is not confirmed in an official version-specific guide for every release. If your panel does not show that action, use the current help text in your installed txAdmin build or ask the server owner with administrative access; do not edit server files or a database blindly.

After revoking a ban, record who approved the change and why. Ask the player to reconnect only after the entry shows as revoked. If the connection is still blocked, check whether another ban entry covers a different stored identifier or whether a separate administration resource has its own ban list.

Common problems and fixes

“Ban Player” is missing

  • Confirm that you are signed in to the correct txAdmin instance, not a read-only account on another server.
  • Ask an owner to grant the players.ban permission to your role.
  • Refresh the page after a role change and sign in again if necessary.
  • Do not substitute a random console command; FXServer has no universal built-in ban command.

The player cannot be found offline

  • Search by a player ID or saved note instead of the current display name.
  • Try spelling and formatting variations used in the original session.
  • Review your logs or incident report for an identifier captured while the player was connected.
  • If txAdmin never stored an identifier for that account, a profile-based ban cannot target what the panel does not know.

The wrong person appears in search results

  • Compare identifiers and prior notes, not just the name.
  • Check the incident time against connection history.
  • Stop before submitting if the record cannot be matched confidently; request a second moderator’s review.

The player reconnects after a ban

  • Verify that the ban entry exists and is active in txAdmin history.
  • Check which identifiers were stored on the banned record.
  • Determine whether the reconnecting account is presenting an identifier that was not in the original record.
  • Look for a separate custom ban resource that may be conflicting with or bypassing the txAdmin workflow.
  • Record the new connection details and apply the server’s escalation policy rather than repeatedly banning by a reused numeric ID.

A kick command affects the wrong client

Run status again and compare the current numeric ID with the intended player’s displayed information. IDs are session numbers and can be reassigned. A status line from several minutes earlier is not safe evidence for a later clientkick.

Moderation practices that prevent mistakes

Separate immediate safety from the final decision

If a player is actively disrupting the server, a connected-session kick can stop the immediate problem while staff review evidence. Use the txAdmin ban workflow for the persistent decision once the account and rule violation are confirmed. This avoids turning an urgent removal into an irreversible mistake based on an unverified name.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use consistent reason text

Adopt a short internal format such as “Rule number — behavior — incident date.” Keep the player-facing text understandable and avoid speculation. Consistency lets another moderator distinguish harassment, cheating, exploit abuse, and ordinary disputes when reviewing history.

Protect staff permissions

Grant players.ban only to roles that need it. Review role membership when staff leave, and keep a separate procedure for appeals and unban approvals. The ability to kick should not automatically imply the ability to create or revoke persistent bans.

Keep an audit trail

Use txAdmin’s ban reason, Ban ID, and history entry as the primary record. Store supporting clips or logs according to your community’s retention and privacy rules. When an unban is approved, add the decision and approving staff member to the same case record.

Developer and automation considerations

txAdmin exposes a playerBanned event that is broadcast when a player is banned through txAdmin. Server developers can use that event to trigger related moderation logging or notifications, provided their integration follows the event data and security model of the txAdmin version they run.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not build automation around a guessed event payload or an unverified custom command. Test integrations on a private server, ensure that logs do not expose more identifier data than staff need, and make sure an automation failure cannot silently turn a ban into a kick or grant an unauthorized user ban access.

Quick decision checklist

  • Is the player connected? Use Live Console; otherwise use Players.
  • Does your account have players.ban? If not, ask an owner to update your role.
  • Can you match the account using a stored identifier, not only a name or temporary ID?
  • Have you entered a clear, evidence-based reason?
  • Did you verify the saved ban entry and Ban ID after submission?
  • If you used clientkick, did you understand that it removed the session but did not create a persistent ban?
  • If you are using /ban, have you confirmed which custom resource owns the command and where it stores the ban?
