Use Sync & Backup to copy a NASync DXP6800 Ultra to another UGREEN NAS, use Back up & Restore with rsync or WebDAV for a compatible third-party NAS or server, and use Cloud Drives for supported cloud accounts and object storage. Choose a versioned backup when you need historical recovery; a synchronization task can mirror deletions and is not automatically an independent backup.
Choose the protection method before creating a task
The DXP6800 Ultra has three practical off-device paths. They differ in what happens when files are edited or deleted, how the destination is reached, and how restoration works.
| Route | Best suited to | Requirements | Recovery caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Another UGREEN NAS via Sync | A second UGREEN device needing straightforward cross-device replication | The destination runs UGOS Pro with Sync and Backup installed; both devices can connect over the network | This is documented as synchronization. Review direction and deletion rules, and retain independent versions if you need historical recovery. |
| Remote rsync or WebDAV backup | A third-party NAS, server, or other compatible remote endpoint | Sync & Backup on the DXP6800 Ultra; rsync or WebDAV enabled remotely; reachable address, credentials, and correct protocol settings | UGREEN says remote backup files are encrypted by default. A backup version policy can preserve older states, but each version uses more destination storage and restoration is performed through a UGREEN NAS. |
| Cloud Drives | Sending files to a supported account or object-storage service | Cloud Drives installed and connected to a provider; account or access keys; network access; selected source and destination paths | Cloud synchronization can propagate changes, including deletions. Use provider versioning or deleted-file recovery and verify a restore instead of treating a synchronized directory as automatically immutable. |
For an off-site copy, place the destination outside the room or building that contains the DXP6800 Ultra. A second NAS protects against some local device failures but still needs its own access controls and storage. Cloud storage removes the need to operate a second physical NAS, but adds provider credentials, service limits, and possible data-transfer charges that are not specified in the available documentation.

The DXP6800 Ultra Download Center listing showed UGOS Pro 1.20.0.0142, released on 2026-09-21, when this information was published. Open the NAS update screen and check the version actually offered to your unit; rollout timing and app requirements can differ.
Inventory what must be recoverable
- List the shared folders and application data that belong in the copy.
- Exclude caches, temporary downloads, and regenerable files when they do not help recovery.
- Estimate the destination space required for the first copy plus retained versions. A version policy can require substantially more room than the current source data.
- Decide how much delay is acceptable: real-time replication, a scheduled run, or a manually started job.
Check identity, network, and permissions
- Create a destination account limited to the intended backup path where the destination supports that arrangement.
- Record the destination address, port, account name, and password or access keys in a password manager.
- Confirm that firewalls, router rules, and DNS allow the selected protocol. Do not expose a management interface to the public internet merely to make a backup task connect.
- Make sure the destination clock and the DXP6800 Ultra clock are correct; incorrect time can make logs and version retention difficult to interpret.
Route A: synchronize with another UGREEN NAS
A second UGREEN NAS is the most direct native pairing. The remote unit must run UGOS Pro and have Sync and Backup installed. UGREEN documents real-time, manual, and scheduled synchronization strategies.
Create the task
- On the DXP6800 Ultra, open Sync & Backup.
- Create a synchronization task and choose Sync another UGREEN NAS.
- Enter the destination IP address, UGREENlink ID, or a supported domain name, then provide the credentials requested by the interface.
- Select the local source folders and the remote destination paths.
- Choose real-time, manual, or a schedule. Real-time mode reduces replication delay; a schedule or manual run makes the transfer window explicit.
- Review the synchronization direction and conflict behavior before saving the task.
- Run the task and inspect its status and logs. Do not assume that a task showing as created has completed its first full transfer.
Connect across networks
For a remote UGREEN NAS, use UGREENlink when it fits your network. UGREEN also documents domain-name connections with prerequisites: both devices need Sync and Backup version V1.1.2.0649 or higher, and port 22000 must be mapped as required by the connection. Confirm the exact port-forwarding and firewall rules in the current interface, and restrict the rule to trusted source addresses where possible.
Prevent a mirror from becoming your only copy
Synchronization keeps endpoints aligned. If a file is deleted or changed on the source and the task is configured to propagate that change, the remote copy can be deleted or overwritten as well. Before enabling real-time mode, determine whether the task offers one-way or bidirectional behavior and how conflicts are resolved. If historical recovery matters, pair synchronization with a separate versioned backup or destination-side retention.

Route B: back up to a third-party NAS or server with rsync or WebDAV
Use this route when the destination is not a UGREEN NAS but provides a compatible rsync or WebDAV service. The destination administrator must enable the service and supply an account that can write to the intended path.
Enable and validate the destination service
- Enable rsync or WebDAV on the remote NAS or server.
- Create a dedicated account and restrict it to the backup directory if the product supports path-level permissions.
- Record the server address, service port, path, username, and password or key.
- From the network where the DXP6800 Ultra resides, verify that the address resolves and the service is reachable. A successful ping alone does not prove that the rsync or WebDAV port is usable.
- Confirm that the third-party product supports the selected protocol and its authentication mode.
Create the UGREEN backup task
- Open Sync & Backup > Back up & Restore.
- Create Backup this UGREEN NAS.
- Choose rsync or WebDAV.
- Enter the destination address and credentials, then set the protocol and port.
- Select the DXP6800 Ultra folders and remote destination path.
- Configure filters and, where available, a backup version policy.
- Review the task and start it. Use the task log to distinguish authentication, permission, network, and capacity failures.
Ports and transport security
UGREEN lists 873 as rsync’s default port. Its WebDAV defaults are HTTP 5005 and HTTPS 5006; the server may use different values. Prefer HTTPS or another encrypted transport when the connection crosses an untrusted network. A port number is not proof that traffic is protected, so confirm the destination’s actual TLS and certificate settings.
Understand encryption and versions
UGREEN states that remote backup files are encrypted by default. The contents are viewed after the backup is restored to a UGREEN NAS, so document the restoration procedure and any required credentials before an emergency. Enabling a backup version policy creates historical versions; every retained version consumes additional space on the destination. Set retention to match the data’s recovery needs and available capacity, then test that an older version can actually be selected and restored.

Connect a provider and create a one-way copy
- Install or update Cloud Drives in App Center.
- Add the cloud destination and complete its sign-in or access-key setup. Depending on the service, this can require an account, bucket, region, Key ID, application key, or similar credentials.
- Select the NAS source path and the cloud destination path.
- Choose the available one-way NAS-to-cloud transfer or synchronization workflow. Avoid two-way synchronization when changes made in the cloud should not propagate back to the NAS.
- Set any schedule, filters, and polling options offered by the app.
- Run a small test set, inspect the task log, and restore sample files before submitting the entire data set.
Backblaze B2 and Amazon S3 support
UGREEN’s June 2026 system update notes add Backblaze B2 support to Cloud Drives for the DXP Series, which is an x86 family. The B2 setup tutorial calls for a bucket name, Key ID, and application key, after which files can be transferred or a synchronization task can be created.
UGREEN’s May 2026 update notes add Amazon S3 support to Cloud Drives for the DXP Series. The installed app should be treated as authoritative for the available regions, authentication fields, and task modes. The existence of a connected cloud drive does not by itself prove that scheduled, one-way, versioned backup is available for that provider.
Deletion, overwrite, and polling behavior
UGREEN’s Cloud Drives guidance warns that synchronization is a continuing relationship: changes, including deletions, can be reflected across endpoints. Use cloud version history, object versioning, or deleted-file recovery where the provider offers it. Add retention controls appropriate to the data, and test recovery from both a current object and an older or deleted object.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Cloud Drives describes a polling-period setting that periodically compares file lists; enabling polling can affect drive sleep. Choose a polling interval that balances detection delay against power and wake-up behavior, and rely on the task log rather than assuming every transiently disconnected file was copied.

Make the backup recoverable, not merely present
Run a controlled first copy
Start with a folder containing documents, a large file, nested directories, a filename with spaces, and a file that can be safely deleted. Confirm that each item reaches the destination with the expected path and size. Then remove or rename the test file on the source according to the task’s rules and observe whether the destination changes. This reveals deletion behavior before production data is involved.
Perform a sample restoration
- Choose several files from different source folders.
- Restore them to a separate test directory or spare UGREEN NAS location, not over the live originals.
- Open the restored files and compare names, sizes, and—where relevant—application readability.
- If using versions, restore an older version and confirm that it predates the test change.
- Record the task name, destination path, credentials location, and restoration sequence for someone who may need it under pressure.
Monitor every run
- Review task logs after the first full run and after network or firmware changes.
- Watch destination free space, especially when version retention is enabled.
- Investigate skipped files, permission errors, authentication failures, and repeated retries instead of treating a partial run as complete.
- Periodically perform another restore test; a job can continue running while a destination account, path, or retention policy has changed.
Troubleshoot common failures
The destination cannot be found
Check the address, DNS resolution, firewall, router mapping, and selected port. For cross-network UGREEN synchronization, verify UGREENlink or the domain-name prerequisites, including Sync and Backup V1.1.2.0649 or later on both devices and the required port 22000 mapping.
Authentication succeeds but writing fails
Confirm that the account has write permission to the exact remote path, that the path exists when the protocol requires it, and that a quota or read-only share is not blocking creation. Test with a dedicated empty directory before changing permissions on production data.

Check filters, excluded extensions, source-path selection, and whether the run was incremental. Compare the task log with a known test file and check the destination’s free space. For cloud tasks, verify that the provider operation was a transfer or one-way sync rather than a mount-only connection.

Files disappeared from the copy
Review synchronization direction and deletion rules first. A mirrored sync may have propagated a source deletion. Recover from destination version history, object versioning, deleted-file recovery, or a separate versioned backup if one exists. Do not immediately rerun a destructive synchronization task until the cause is understood.
Real-time cloud sync misses changes
Inspect the network and task log, then consider enabling the Cloud Drives polling-period comparison. Polling can increase wake-ups and affect drive sleep, so set it deliberately rather than selecting the shortest interval by default.
Capacity and current model notes
The DXP6800 Ultra is a six-bay NAS with six SATA bays and two M.2 NVMe bays. UGREEN’s product page states a maximum capacity of 208 TB; that is hardware context, not a recommended backup size or a guarantee that a destination can hold all versions. Calculate destination capacity from the actual protected data, expected growth, and retention policy.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesKeep the DXP6800 Ultra’s firmware and backup apps current, but schedule updates so they do not interrupt a critical transfer. After an update, recheck provider integrations, task status, credentials, and a small restore. Cloud Drives provider lists and task capabilities can differ between general support pages, release notes, and the installed build.
Quick Recap
Operational checklist
- Choose synchronization only when mirrored current state is intended; choose versioned backup when older or deleted data must be recoverable.
- Keep at least one destination outside the DXP6800 Ultra’s immediate physical location.
- Use a dedicated, least-privilege destination account and protect credentials and encryption information.
- Confirm network reachability and protocol ports before starting a large run.
- Set retention with enough capacity for every planned version.
- Run a small test, inspect logs, and complete a sample restoration before trusting the task.
- Re-test after firmware, app, router, credential, or destination-storage changes.
