If enemies keep catching you in Silent Hill: Townfall, don’t rely on one tactic. Use the CRTV to check for threats, listen and scout from cover, then break line of sight or hide if you can do so unseen. The game expects both stealth and combat: some encounters may require a fight, and no evidence establishes that every enemy can be avoided.
Use the CRTV, but keep watching and listening
The CRTV is a handheld television that can show threat signals and help you detect nearby enemies. Treat it as a scouting tool, not a permanent map: check it for information, then return your attention to the surroundings. Looking at the device too long can leave you less aware of what is happening around Simon.

That matters because Townfall is played from a first-person perspective, which limits what you can see to the sides. Listen for threats as well as watching for them. PlayStation’s guide emphasizes sound and environmental awareness in its first-person gameplay tips.
Scout from cover before crossing exposed ground
Use nearby objects—such as fences, signs, or parked cars—to reduce your exposure while checking a route. Before stepping around a corner or over cover, hold R1 and move the right stick to lean and look. This can help you spot an enemy before you commit to a path.
#1 Best Overall
- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- Returning to an island town to ‘put things right’, Simon Ordell descends into a world of tense evasion, explosive confrontations, and mind-bending puzzles that slowly surface the truth of St. Amelia
- Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right’, encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest
- Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface
- Experienced entirely in first person, Simon must explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including the CRTV, a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged
Cover and peeking provide a safer way to gather information than walking straight into an exposed area. They do not guarantee that an enemy will not notice you, so keep listening and be ready to change your route.
Break line of sight when an enemy spots you
If an enemy sees you, try to put an obstacle between you and it or turn around a corner. Running may help you lose sight quickly, but sprinting in a straight line through open space leaves you exposed. Change direction and use available cover rather than assuming distance alone will end the pursuit.

- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- When Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to "put things in order", he meets a city lying quietly in dense fog, seemingly abandoned, yet anything but dormant
- After venturing further to understand his connection to this place and its inhabitants, he gradually discovers fragments of the past rising to the surface
- Simon must explore, evade and survive from a first-person perspective. It uses a limited arsenal of weapons and tools, including the CRTV: a portable TV to receive unstable signals
- The dodging is tension, the battles are hectic and the story-based puzzles reveal a truth that does not want to remain hidden
PlayStation describes breaking sight with a corner or object as a way an enemy may lose track of you; it is not a guaranteed escape in every encounter.

Hide only if you can enter unseen
Cabinets, closets, and lockers can provide hiding places, and you can watch through a crack or use the CRTV while concealed. The crucial condition is whether the enemy saw you go in. If it witnessed your entry, it can follow you and pull you out. First break line of sight, then seek a hiding place the enemy did not see you enter.
Fight when stealth is not enough
Stealth is not a promise that every encounter can be skipped. The official PlayStation guidance describes blocking and counterattacking as combat options, and the game’s official page characterizes stealth and combat as strategic. If a fight is necessary, use the combat mechanics rather than assuming you can always run or hide your way through.
Actions across the playthrough shape multiple outcomes, but the available official information does not establish a specific enemy-kill threshold or say that a no-kill run is required for an ending. The developers have said the main endings reflect the culmination of actions over the playthrough, rather than one binary choice at the end; all three main endings can be reached on a first playthrough, while the secret ending becomes available after completing the game once. See the developer interview and the official PlayStation game page.

Adjust the challenge if enemies are overwhelming
TechRadar’s September 21, 2026 review reports that Story mode reduces enemy threat, Normal is the intended mode, and Nightmare increases enemy power and makes the flashlight detectable. These are review-reported details, not a guarantee of how every current build behaves. Check the game’s available settings, since patches may change behavior. The review also describes enemies as varying in speed and danger, and notes environmental cut-throughs and hiding places; its route observations reflect one reviewer’s playthrough, not a sure result for every difficulty or encounter.

Official guidance explains the general tools for evasion and combat, but does not provide a complete named enemy roster, verified weaknesses for individual enemies, or a reliable encounter-by-encounter escape route. For that reason, the most dependable approach is to apply the mechanics to the situation: gather information with the CRTV, scout from cover, use sound, break sight when pursued, and fight when the encounter calls for it. Silent Hill: Townfall released September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store, and is set on the remote Scottish island of St. Amelia, according to Konami’s release announcement.
