The reliable way to automate wild-dino wipes in ARK: Survival Ascended is to use a server mod with a UTC schedule, or a hosting panel that exposes a recurring wipe job. On a self-hosted server, the Automated Dino Wipes mod uses WipeSchedule= in its configuration. On managed hosting, look for a built-in wild-dino scheduler first. Use DestroyWildDinos for a one-off test or emergency wipe; it does not remove tamed creatures.
Choose the method that matches your server
Your options depend mainly on who controls the server software and whether a restart is acceptable.

Do not apply instructions written for ARK: Survival Evolved to an ASA server without checking them. A commonly indexed SE wipe guide is not ASA documentation.
What a wild-dino wipe actually does
A wipe removes currently spawned wild creatures so the game can repopulate the map. It is intended to clear poor levels, unwanted species concentrations, or populations affected by changed spawn settings. It does not wipe your character, structures, inventory, or tamed creatures when performed with the methods described here.

After a wipe, new wild spawns appear over time rather than all at once. One command reference says the replacement population returns over a few minutes. Another says the command only affects map cells loaded in memory and that a full-map operation should be issued from the server console (RCON). Because those statements conflict, test on your own map before making a recurring schedule depend on the result.
Self-hosted setup: Automated Dino Wipes
The Automated Dino Wipes mod is the clearest route when you control the server files. Its configuration uses a start-up switch, a UTC schedule, a duration, exclusions, and warning broadcasts.

- Install the current ASA-compatible release of Automated Dino Wipes through the mod distribution method supported by your server.
- Confirm that the mod is enabled in the server’s active mod list and that the server completes a clean restart.
- Open the mod’s generated configuration file after the first successful start. The listing available on October 14, 2026 was about 506 days old, so compare every option with the current release rather than copying an old file unchanged.
2. Decide whether wipes should run at startup
Set:
WipeOnServerStart=FalseFalse prevents a wipe on every server start. Change it to True only when a wipe after each restart is intentional. A start-up wipe can be useful for a server that restarts on a fixed maintenance cycle, but it can also surprise players after an unplanned crash.
3. Add a UTC schedule
The schedule is a comma-separated list of times in 24-hour hh:mm format, interpreted as UTC:
WipeSchedule=03:00,15:00This example requests wipes at 03:00 and 15:00 UTC every day. Convert the desired local time to UTC before saving. If your community spans time zones, publish the UTC times directly and include a conversion link or calendar entry in your server rules so daylight-saving changes do not create confusion.
Leave the value empty if you do not want scheduled wipes and are using the mod only for manual or start-up behavior:

WipeSchedule=Use leading zeroes, separate multiple entries with commas, and avoid adding explanatory text on the same line. After changing the file, restart the server if the mod’s current documentation requires a reload; if no reload mechanism is documented, a restart is the safe way to ensure the new schedule is read.
4. Set a wipe duration to control lag
Use:
WipeLengthSeconds=60The mod listing describes 0 as instant, 60 as about one minute, and 600 as about ten minutes. Higher values spread the work over longer periods and are intended to reduce lag. Start above zero on an active server; an instantaneous operation may create a sharper performance spike. Adjust only after observing a real wipe with your server’s normal player count.
5. Configure warnings and exclusions
Enable warnings so players know that wild creatures are about to disappear:

Blacklist=Argentavis,CastoroidesNames must match the names shown in-game. The mod also exposes options for cave creatures, beehives, and nest eggs. Review those switches before the first production wipe; protecting a cave population or nest content may be important for a progression-focused server.
6. Test before making the schedule permanent
- Back up the save and configuration files.
- Use a low-impact time and a short observation window, or run one manual wipe first.
- Watch server performance while the wipe runs. Confirm that tamed creatures, protected species, cave populations, and nest or hive content match your policy.
- Check that new wild spawns return and that the next scheduled time is interpreted in UTC.
- Only then publish the recurring schedule to players.

FloatWipeIntervalInSeconds=Set it to the number of seconds between wipes according to the current mod’s configuration reference. It also has an optional start-up wipe:
BoolWipeDinosOnServerStart=Protection controls include BoolNoWipeTamedDino and separate toggles for boss, large, aquatic, and flying dinosaurs. This model suits servers that want “every N seconds” behavior or fine-grained protection categories rather than fixed UTC times. Verify the current option names and value types in the installed version before editing them; no version-stable defaults are established in the available listing.

Managed hosting: look for a panel scheduler first
Some hosting control panels provide recurring wild-dino wipes without installing a mod. The ARK Ascended Server Manager guide updated in July 2026 describes a Dino Management card with recurring wipes, player warnings, and an immediate-wipe action. The guide does not establish which managed hosts expose that card, so treat the feature as panel-dependent.
Panel checklist
- Open the server’s ASA management dashboard and locate a Dino Management, Wild Dino, or similar card.
- Check whether the control says wild dinos. A general “wipe dinos” label should not be assumed to have the same scope.
- Choose the recurrence and warning lead time offered by the panel.
- Save the job, then verify its next-run time and time zone. If the panel does not identify a time zone, ask the host before relying on it.
- Use the panel’s immediate-wipe control during a maintenance window to confirm the result, or run a console test if the panel provides one.
Some panels implement a wipe as part of a restart. That can interrupt players and may alter the timing of other scheduled tasks, so distinguish “wipe only” from “restart and wipe” before enabling it.
What is known about Nitrado-style scheduling
A roughly two-year-old Steam forum report from a user described a general-settings checkbox labelled “enable auto wild dino wipe on server restart” and said the server was restarted every 24–48 hours. The same report said the dashboard did not offer a dino-only schedule. This is an anecdotal, potentially outdated description—not an official current feature list. If your panel shows a similarly named option, confirm whether it still exists, whether it wipes only on restart, and how often the restart occurs.
One-off wipes with DestroyWildDinos

- One command reference says it removes every wild creature on the map and that replacements respawn over the next few minutes.
- Another says it affects only the cell currently loaded in memory and recommends running a true full-map wipe from the server console through RCON.
Because the behavior may depend on where and how the command is issued, test both the command channel and the resulting spawn reset on your server. Record whether distant, previously visited areas repopulate after the operation. Do not assume that a successful console response proves every map cell was cleared.
Tamed creatures are not affected by this command according to both cited command references. Nevertheless, take a save backup and announce the operation, especially on a shared server.

Choose a clock or an interval
Use a UTC clock schedule when players need predictable times, such as 03:00 UTC every day. Use an interval when you want a wipe a fixed number of seconds after the previous cycle, as supported by Hyper’s mod. Do not combine a start-up wipe with a frequent interval unless you have deliberately accepted extra wipes after maintenance restarts.
Protect progression-critical creatures
Decide whether bosses, large creatures, aquatic species, flyers, cave creatures, beehives, and nest eggs should survive. Automated Dino Wipes provides a species blacklist plus cave, hive, and nest-related options; Hyper’s mod provides category toggles. Write the protection policy down before configuring it so an administrator does not make an inconsistent choice during an urgent restart.
Balance population reset against performance
A wipe that is too fast can create a noticeable lag spike. For Automated Dino Wipes, the documented examples identify 60 seconds as a one-minute operation and 600 seconds as ten minutes, with longer durations intended to reduce lag. Start with a non-zero duration, observe the real workload, and change one setting at a time.
Coordinate warnings and maintenance
Enable broadcast warnings in the mod or the equivalent panel feature. Schedule wipes during a quiet period, and state the UTC time, expected duration, and whether a restart will occur. Players should know that wild spawns may take several minutes to rebuild after the wipe.

Troubleshooting
The schedule never fires
- Confirm that the mod is active and that the configuration file belongs to the running server instance.
- Check spelling, capitalization, commas, and the required
hh:mmformat. - Convert the intended local time to UTC and verify the server’s clock.
- Restart if the current mod build does not support live configuration reloads.
- Set a near-future test time and watch the server log and player broadcast.
The wipe happens after every restart
Set WipeOnServerStart=False (or Hyper’s BoolWipeDinosOnServerStart to its disabled value). Check whether the hosting panel has a separate “wipe on server restart” checkbox enabled.
Players report lag or a disconnect
Increase WipeLengthSeconds above the current value, move the schedule to a low-population period, and avoid an instantaneous value of 0 unless testing shows your server can tolerate it. A host scheduler may also be restarting the server; disable overlapping restart jobs.

Recheck the exact in-game names in Blacklist= and review cave, hive, nest, boss, large, aquatic, and flying protection toggles. Test with one species before restoring a broad schedule.
Distant areas still contain old wild dinos
This is the principal symptom of the disputed command scope. Repeat the test from the server console or RCON, then verify an unloaded region after it repopulates. If the mod’s own wipe reaches the whole map while the command does not, use the mod for recurring jobs.
A practical rollout plan
- Identify whether you self-host or use a managed panel.
- Back up the world and configuration.
- Run
DestroyWildDinosonce during maintenance and document what changed. - For self-hosting, install one current wipe mod and configure either a UTC schedule or an interval—not both until tested.
- For managed hosting, enable the panel scheduler only after confirming its scope, time zone, warning behavior, and restart requirement.
- Protect the species and categories required by your server rules.
- Observe one complete cycle, including repopulation and player performance.
- Publish the schedule and maintenance expectations to players, then review the configuration after every mod or panel update.
Limits of the available ASA documentation
No official Studio Wildcard documentation confirming a built-in ASA dino-wipe setting was identified. It is also not established that changing spawn settings retroactively changes already spawned creatures. Treat those settings as separate from a wipe unless current official documentation or a current server-manager release says otherwise. Hosting support is not universal, and old forum instructions can describe controls that no longer exist.
