The dependable way to automate a hosted Hytale server restart is to create a recurring restart task in your provider’s control panel. If you run the server yourself, the third-party HyRestart mod can restart it at fixed clock times and send advance notices. Hytale’s own documentation has not been confirmed to provide a built-in scheduler, so treat both approaches as external automation and verify that your host, panel version, and server build support them.
Choose the automation method first
Your hosting arrangement determines where the schedule belongs. A rented server normally has a web panel that can power the instance off, start it, or restart it on a timetable. A self-hosted instance needs software inside the server environment, such as HyRestart, to trigger the restart.

Neither option is confirmed as an official Hytale feature. A panel task is usually the safer choice for a hosted server because the host controls the power operation. HyRestart gives a self-hosted operator more control over exact clock times, but it adds another component that can become incompatible after a server or loader update.
Prepare a restart that will not surprise players
Automation only helps if the restart happens predictably and players have time to finish what they are doing. Complete these checks before creating a recurring task:

- Confirm the server’s displayed time zone. A schedule set for 03:00 may use the panel’s data-center time rather than your local time.
- Pick a low-traffic period. The available guidance generally favors one restart per day during the quietest period for your players.
- Decide whether you need a daily restart or a shorter interval. A 12-to-24-hour interval is a commonly suggested starting point, but there is no universal Hytale frequency; use your player activity and observed memory behavior.
- Make sure you have permission to create scheduled tasks and to perform power actions. Some panels hide these controls from sub-users.
- Plan a warning before the restart. A restart task by itself can disconnect players without context.
- Test a one-time run before making the task recurring. Watch that the server stops cleanly, comes back online, and accepts a connection.
Do not put the schedule in the normal server configuration file unless a separate tool explicitly requires it. A community guide describes the main configuration as config.json; it is edited with the server stopped and then applied by starting the server again. Recurring tasks are handled by the control panel, while HyRestart is the notable third-party exception.
Set up an automatic restart in a hosting control panel
The labels differ by provider, but the pattern is consistent: create a task whose action is restart, choose when it runs, save it, and then verify it. Create any player-facing warning task first so the warning is evaluated before the power action.

- Open the server’s Quick Tasks tab.
- Configure the Restart Server action.
- Save the quick task.
- Open My Tasks and assign the time or recurring schedule there.
The two-stage layout matters: defining the action in Quick Tasks does not, by itself, create a recurring timetable. Confirm that the saved item appears in My Tasks with the intended time zone and recurrence.
Host Havoc
- Open Scheduled Tasks.
- Create a Scheduled Start/Stop/Restart task.
- Choose the Daily type when you want the server restarted at the same time each day.
- For a shorter cycle, enable Repeat Task and specify the interval.
A six-hour interval is given as an example of the repeat function. That example is not a recommendation for every world: four restarts per day can interrupt long sessions and may be unnecessary if the server remains stable for 24 hours.

- In the Starbase panel, open the Schedules tab.
- Create a schedule and add a warning task if you want players to receive notice.
- Create the restart task and set its interval. The provider guidance recommends starting with 12 to 24 hours.
- Place the warning-message task before the restart task in the schedule.
The order is functional rather than cosmetic. If the restart task is created first, the warning may not execute in time or may not be associated with that schedule.
Cybrancee
- Create a schedule in the control panel.
- Add a task and set its action to power action.
- Set the payload to restart.
- Choose a recurrence, normally once every 24 hours at a low-traffic time.
Review the completed task before enabling it. The action and payload are separate fields; selecting a generic power action without the restart payload may not produce the intended result.

There is no established, universal Hytale restart interval. The practical baseline in current hosting guidance is one restart per day, and one provider describes 12 to 24 hours as a suitable interval range. Use a shorter cadence only when you have a reason, such as memory usage that grows during a normal operating day or a community schedule that naturally divides play into sessions.

Keep the restart time consistent so players learn it. If your community spans time zones, publish the schedule in a named time zone rather than saying only “3 a.m.” A fixed clock time is easier to communicate than an interval that drifts when a task is manually run.

Use HyRestart on a self-hosted server
HyRestart is a third-party mod listed for automatic restarts. It is aimed at operators who manage the server files and process themselves rather than relying on a provider’s scheduler. The mod supports fixed times in 24-hour notation, progressive warnings before each restart, and Discord notifications.
- Obtain the HyRestart mod file from its current distribution source and verify that its version matches your Hytale server and mod loader.
- Place the file in the server’s
modsfolder. - Start the server once. The first launch is needed for the mod to generate its configuration.
- Stop the server and open the generated HyRestart configuration. Editing while the server is stopped avoids having the running process overwrite your changes.
- Enter the desired restart times in 24-hour format, such as
03:00,09:00,15:00, and21:00. - Configure the warning behavior and, if useful, Discord notifications supplied by the mod.
- Start the server and perform a controlled test. Confirm that a warning is emitted, the restart occurs, and the host process brings the server back rather than leaving it stopped.
The four times above illustrate a six-hour pattern; they are not a required default. Remove unnecessary entries if you want one daily restart. Keep the warning lead time long enough for players to reach safety and for any important world operation to finish.
The Pterodactyl limitation
The HyRestart listing warns that outside Pterodactyl, the server may not restart as expected. This is a material compatibility caveat, not a minor configuration detail. If you run the server from a different panel, a shell script, a service manager, or a custom container, test the complete stop-and-start path before trusting the mod on a live world. A warning message can still appear even when the subsequent process restart fails.
If the test leaves the server offline, remove the recurring HyRestart times and use the outer hosting or process manager to schedule restarts instead. Do not assume that changing the clock format will fix an environment-level inability to relaunch the process.

Build warnings into the restart workflow
A restart should be treated as a short maintenance event, not an unexplained outage. On a control panel, create a message or warning task before the restart task. On HyRestart, enable its progressive warning feature and check the configured messages in-game.
- Tell players the planned restart time and the time zone.
- Give at least one early notice and a final notice close to the restart; the exact lead times depend on what your panel or mod allows.
- Ask players to finish trades, combat, building operations, or other actions that would be harmful to interrupt.
- Use Discord notification support only if your community already relies on Discord and the integration is configured securely.
- After the restart, post a short “online again” notice if your panel or community workflow supports it.
On BisectHosting in particular, create the warning-message task before the restart task. The provider guidance calls out that ordering as necessary for the warnings to work.
Verify that the schedule really works
Do not wait for the first weekly failure to discover that the task uses the wrong time zone or action. Use a short, controlled test:
- Temporarily set the task for a few minutes in the future, or run it once if the panel provides a manual option.
- Remain connected as an administrator and observe the warning, disconnect, shutdown, and return-to-service sequence.
- Check the panel’s task history or status for a successful run. If the panel does not expose history, record the observed start and end times yourself.
- Join again as a normal player to confirm that the server is reachable and that the expected world and permissions are present.
- Restore the production schedule and document the time zone, cadence, warning order, and the person responsible for changing it.
A successful manual restart does not prove that a scheduled restart is configured correctly. The scheduler may use a different account, time zone, or power-action permission than the button you used for the test.

Troubleshoot common failures
The task never runs
- Check that the task is enabled and saved under the correct server, not merely drafted in a task editor.
- Recheck the panel time zone and daylight-saving behavior. A correct clock value in the wrong zone looks like a scheduler failure.
- Confirm that your account can perform restart or power actions.
- Open the task again and verify that the action is restart, rather than stop or start.
- Look for a changed panel label or workflow. Provider interfaces evolve, so use the current help text for your account if a menu no longer matches these paths.
The warning appears but the server does not come back
- For HyRestart, investigate the documented limitation outside Pterodactyl first.
- Test the provider’s own restart control separately. If that also fails, the issue is the host or process manager rather than the warning component.
- Remove overlapping schedules. A second task can stop the server again, start it while files are still closing, or make the status appear inconsistent.
- Check whether another maintenance, backup, or update task runs at the same time.
The restart occurs without a warning
- On a panel, verify that the warning task is attached to the same schedule and is ordered before the restart.
- On HyRestart, confirm that warnings are enabled in the generated configuration and that the configured times use 24-hour notation.
- Perform a near-term test rather than waiting for the next daily run.
The mod does not generate a configuration
- Confirm that the file is in the server’s actual
modsfolder and that the server is using the loader required by that mod. - Start the server once after installation, then stop it cleanly before looking for the generated file.
- Check version compatibility and remove duplicate copies of the mod.
- If the server fails to start after installation, remove HyRestart and return to the last known working state before testing a compatible release.
Keep the schedule maintainable
Record the schedule outside the panel: server name, time zone, restart times, warning lead times, mod version if applicable, and the date of the last successful test. This prevents a future administrator from creating a second schedule because the first one is not obvious.
Review the automation after a Hytale server update, a hosting-panel migration, or a change of process manager. Panel task names can move, and a third-party mod can stop working after a loader or server change. Re-test after every such change rather than assuming an old recurring task still has the same permissions and action semantics.

Keep the cadence tied to an observed need. If a daily restart solves the problem and players rarely notice it, increasing to every six hours adds disruption without demonstrated benefit. If memory use or reliability degrades before the daily run, shorten the interval temporarily, collect observations, and then choose the least disruptive schedule that remains effective.
Recommended decision
Use your hosting provider’s Scheduled Tasks feature when the server is hosted. It avoids code, uses the provider’s supported power operation, and commonly supports daily or repeating schedules. Create the warning first, test a near-term run, and start with one restart every 24 hours or a 12-to-24-hour interval.
Use HyRestart only when you control a self-hosted installation and have verified that its process environment can relaunch the server. Configure fixed 24-hour times, enable progressive warnings, and test outside Pterodactyl with particular care because the mod listing warns that automatic restarting may not work there. No built-in Hytale scheduler has been confirmed, so do not rely on a server configuration-file setting that your panel or mod does not document.
