Hasleo Backup Suite’s reviewed instructions have you choose a destination path for a backup task; they do not document a feature that finds an external disk by identity when Windows changes its drive letter. The practical workaround is to assign the backup volume a stable, unused letter in Windows Disk Management, then set the Hasleo task destination to that letter and its backup folder. The drive must also be connected when the backup is due.
What happens when Windows changes the drive letter?
A scheduled Hasleo task is configured with a destination path. Hasleo’s schedule documentation describes when a task runs, while its guides for disk and partition backups and file and folder backups direct you to choose a destination. The reviewed instructions do not document resolving that destination by volume label, serial number, or another identity independent of the drive letter.
If the task expects a path such as E:Backups but Windows mounts the external volume as another letter, the configured path may no longer point to the intended disk. Changing schedule timing does not itself make the task locate a disk whose letter has changed.

Windows 11 includes Disk Management for changing volume drive letters. Microsoft says the utility looks and works the same in Windows 10 and Windows 11; see Microsoft’s Disk Management guidance for opening and using it.

- Connect the external backup drive. Open Disk Management from the Start button’s context menu, or press
Win+R, enterdiskmgmt.msc, and press Enter. - Identify the external volume by its capacity, label, and partition details. Take care not to change the letter of a Windows, system, or source volume.
- Change the backup volume’s letter to one that is unused and unlikely to be assigned to another device. In Disk Management, right-click the volume, choose Change Drive Letter and Paths, then choose Change and select the letter.
- In Hasleo Backup Suite, edit the task and set its destination to the chosen letter and the correct backup folder. If the existing task cannot be edited as needed, create a task with the intended destination.
- Run a test backup with the drive connected, then confirm that the expected backup image or files appear in the selected folder.
Choosing a separate destination, such as an external hard drive for backups, helps keep backup data apart from the source disk; Hasleo’s disk-backup guidance recommends an external drive or network location separate from the source. A new drive is not required to address a changing letter if the current drive can be assigned a suitable one.
Choose a setup that matches how you use your drives

A community thread about this Hasleo scenario reports that users assigned distinct letters to external volumes; the original poster said the selected letter remained after signing out and back in. Make sure the disk is available when the task runs
Hasleo documents one-time, daily, weekly, monthly, and event-triggered schedules. Its schedule options include running a missed schedule at the next system startup and waking the computer for a scheduled task. These options concern when a task runs; the reviewed documentation does not describe them as detecting a disconnected disk or retrying automatically when that disk is connected later.

Keep the drive connected and mounted at the scheduled time. If you enable the missed-schedule-at-startup option, treat it as a documented catch-up behavior—not as a substitute for having the destination available. Microsoft’s separate File History reconnect guidance is for Windows File History, not Hasleo Backup Suite, so it does not establish that Hasleo behaves the same way.
