The Redsbaby NUVO Platinum is the Platinum Black Twill colourway of the original NUVO, a full-size pram that converts from single to double or twin configurations. It is now discontinued, with Redsbaby clearing remaining stock, so check current availability of the precise colour and setup before buying. The published specifications describe useful configuration flexibility, but public evidence does not establish how it performs in independent handling or safety tests.
What the Platinum name means
“Platinum” refers to the original NUVO’s colourway, not a separate pram model. Redsbaby now lists that original model as discontinued; its product page indicates remaining stock is being cleared. CHOICE also marks it discontinued. Availability may vary by configuration, so confirm whether the single, double or twin setup you want is actually offered. The manufacturer’s product page is at Redsbaby’s NUVO product page, and CHOICE’s public listing is at CHOICE’s NUVO entry.
Take care not to confuse the original NUVO with the distinct NUVO². Redsbaby’s manuals and product-guides index separates materials by model. For a used pram or accessories, verify that documentation and parts specifically identify the original NUVO.
Can it be used from birth and converted for two children?
Redsbaby describes single, double and twin configurations, including combinations with compatible capsules. Newborn use requires a compatible bassinet or a compatible car capsule fitted with its dedicated adaptor; the seat alone is not the stated newborn option. The original NUVO product guide restricts use to the configurations it shows. Consult the original NUVO guide in Redsbaby’s manuals index before assembling a combination.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For double mode, the guide says to place the primary child in the upper seat or capsule first and secure that child, then place the second child in the lower seat, bassinet or capsule. The allowed combinations and position-specific load limits matter: do not assume that every seat, bassinet and capsule can be arranged in every orientation.
Specifications and load limits
Redsbaby’s product page and original double-mode guide give figures that apply to different parts and configurations. In particular, the single-seat limit on the product page differs from the double-mode seat limits in the guide; use the instructions for the setup actually fitted rather than treating those figures as interchangeable.

CHOICE reports a published discrepancy in seat-load information across the specifications, box and seat. Its public entry does not resolve that discrepancy. For the particular pram and configuration in front of you, follow the applicable original NUVO guide and any product labels; do not infer a higher limit from a different configuration or listing.
Capsule compatibility and accessories
Redsbaby names Britax capsules and capsules using a Maxi-Cosi connection point, but capsule fit depends on the exact capsule and dedicated adaptor. Check the precise capsule model, adaptor and pram generation with Redsbaby before purchase. A connection-point description alone does not establish compatibility with every capsule that uses it.

The manufacturer’s guide index lists original-NUVO accessory guides. When buying a rain cover, sunshade, insect net, seat liner, organiser, cup holder, Buggyboard or capsule adaptor, check that the listing explicitly identifies compatibility with the original NUVO rather than NUVO². Stock and listing-level compatibility can change, particularly for a discontinued model.
Safety instructions that affect everyday use
The original double-mode guide warns: “Incorrect assembly and use can result in serious injury or death.” It also states: “WARNING: DO NOT USE FOR UNSUPERVISED SLEEPING.” These are product-use warnings, not evidence of an incident rate. Read the guide for the exact configuration, and follow its instructions, including:

- Keep children attended. Do not leave a child unattended with the rain cover fitted.
- In double mode, secure the child in the upper position before placing the second child in the lower position.
- Do not use the bassinet after the child can sit up unaided, and do not use it for unsupervised sleep.
- Avoid overloading and take care on slopes or uneven surfaces; the guide warns these conditions and incorrect use can affect stability.
Care and maintenance
Redsbaby’s original NUVO guide recommends regular checks of locks, brakes, harnesses and fixings. It advises light lubrication of moving parts, sponge-cleaning with warm water and mild detergent, and air-drying before storage. Do not store the pram damp or wet. Rinse salt water from frame parts, and avoid alcohol-containing products on leatherette.

CHOICE’s public NUVO entry provides specifications, but its expert rating, performance and ease-of-use scores, and safety and durability test outcomes are behind member access. The public page therefore does not support a claim that the NUVO passed or failed CHOICE testing, or that CHOICE recommended it.

A public Australian parent discussion includes individual comments praising folding, storage and handling, as well as a twin user’s complaint about recline choices in some seat orientations. These are dated, self-selected experiences, not representative user research or controlled testing. They can point to practical questions to investigate, but cannot establish typical handling, comfort, durability or safety performance.
Is the discontinued NUVO Platinum a good buy?
It may suit a buyer who specifically wants the original NUVO’s single-to-double or twin configuration and can confirm the exact seats, adaptors and accessories needed. The most important checks are whether the desired Platinum setup is available, whether each part belongs to the original generation, and whether the relevant guide permits the planned arrangement. For a second-hand pram, inspect condition and confirm that essential parts and compatible accessories can still be obtained.
This evidence does not establish a broad “best double pram” verdict. To compare it fairly with another pram, use equivalent configurations and check folded dimensions, whether seats remain attached when folded, complete configured weight rather than chassis weight alone, width, basket capacity, child limits by position, recline and orientation choices with two children, and current availability of replacement parts. Do not treat measurements with different scopes as like-for-like.
