Apply through Claude Console: sign in, complete the Claude Startups application, and use a company email that matches your website domain. Startups founded within the last five years or funded within the last two may apply; venture capital is not required. If accepted, claim the $1,000 Claude API credit from the Claude Startups area in Console. The credit expires six months after it is granted.
Who can apply for Claude for Startups?
Anthropic says startups founded in the last five years or funded in the last two are eligible to apply. A company can qualify through either timing window; it does not need to meet both. Bootstrapped, pre-seed, and venture-backed startups can apply, so VC funding is not a prerequisite.
Eligibility to apply is not a guarantee of acceptance. Anthropic reviews every application and makes the final decision at its discretion. Its terms say evaluation may consider business traction, investment and funding, and how the company integrates and uses Claude.
What to prepare before applying
- A Claude Console account.
- A company email address that matches the domain used by the company website.
- A short description of what the company is building.
- A product or use case that complies with Anthropic’s supportability policies.
Anthropic does not publish a fixed, exhaustive document checklist on its program page, so do not assume you need a particular pitch deck, incorporation record, or funding document unless the live application requests it.

How to submit the application
- Sign in to Claude Console.
- Open the Claude Startups application and complete the form with your company details and product description.
- Submit the application and monitor the email associated with it for Anthropic’s decision.
Anthropic says most applications are decided within minutes. Applications that need manual review usually take two to three business days. These are stated typical timeframes, not a guaranteed service deadline.
How to claim the $1,000 Claude API credit
After approval, sign in to Claude Console and open the Claude Startups page to claim the API credit. Anthropic describes the award as $1,000 for each approved company. Check the grant date in Console and track the expiry from that date: the credits expire six months after they are granted.

The credit applies to Anthropic’s first-party Claude API through Claude Console. It does not apply to Claude usage through AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, or another third-party platform. Anthropic says program members who receive credits automatically receive higher API rate limits.

What else accepted startups can receive
Claude Team
Anthropic offers one year of Claude Team for organizations that are new to Team, covering up to five Premium seats. This is separate from the API credit: claim it using the link Anthropic emails after acceptance rather than assuming it is included automatically with the Console credit.

Claude Startup Stack partner offers
Members can redeem offers from third-party companies in Claude Console. Anthropic advertises up to $45,000 in combined offer value, but that is not cash and is not a guaranteed benefit or savings amount. What a company can actually use depends on the individual offers, its plans and team size, and each partner’s terms.
Events and Applied AI office hours
The program also lists virtual office hours with Anthropic’s Applied AI team, along with startup events, hackathons, and meetups. Availability and participation details are provided through the program.

How VC-backed startups can check for additional credits
A company backed by a VC in Anthropic’s partner network may be eligible for up to $100,000 in additional API credits through that VC. This is conditional, separate from the standard $1,000 program credit, and not available to every VC-backed applicant. Ask the investor whether it is in Anthropic’s partner network and what route it uses to request the additional credits.

Anthropic’s official program terms say benefits are assigned to the company account identified in the application and that Anthropic may modify, suspend, or terminate the program. Selected awardees are responsible for assessing any tax obligations associated with API credits; Anthropic does not determine how those credits will be taxed. Ask the company’s tax adviser about the treatment applicable to your circumstances.
