If your Cash App account is frozen or restricted, contact Cash App through an official support channel and ask what review or verification step applies. A support request is not a guaranteed appeal: Block’s published U.S. materials do not set one universal freeze-appeal form, deadline, independent reviewer, or promise of reinstatement. Here, “Block account” means a Cash App account held with Block, Inc.; the steps may not apply to a different Block product or a Square business account.
How to appeal a frozen Cash App account
Start with Cash App support, preferably through the app if you can still sign in. Explain that the account is restricted, give the date and exact wording of the notice, identify what access or funds are affected, and ask whether the account can be reviewed and whether verification is required. Use only a contact route published by Cash App, and keep a dated record of the exchange.

The current U.S. Cash App Terms of Service list in-app chat, cash.app/help, the phone number 1-800-969-1940, and written contact at Cash App, 1955 Broadway, Suite 600, Oakland, CA 94612. The Terms identify 1-800-969-1940 as the only phone number available for Cash App Support. Check the current official terms before relying on contact details, since those details can change. - Open the official support route. In Cash App, use the support or chat option if you can access it. If you cannot sign in, go to cash.app/help or call the phone number shown in the current Cash App Terms. Do not use a number sent by an unsolicited message or found on an unofficial recovery site.
- Describe the restriction precisely. Say that the account is frozen, locked, or restricted, using the wording Cash App showed you. Include when access changed and whether you cannot sign in, send or receive money, use the Cash App Card, or access a balance.
- Identify the account and any affected transaction. Through the verified support channel, provide your $Cashtag and the phone number or email address associated with the account. If a particular transfer or purchase is involved, include its date, amount, and why you believe it is incorrect or unauthorized.
- Ask for the next step. Request a review and ask whether Cash App needs identity verification or other documents, and how to submit them securely. Do not send identity documents in response to an unsolicited message or to someone claiming to be a recovery agent.
- Keep a record. Save the restriction notice, the dates you contacted support, any case references, documents submitted, and replies. If you write by mail, keep a copy and proof of delivery; that is useful recordkeeping, not a special appeal requirement.
Cash App says its representatives will never ask for your password, PIN, or full debit card number. Do not disclose those details to someone claiming to review or unlock your account. Cash App Terms of Service

A concise message you can adapt
Send a clear account of what happened rather than a long argument about why the restriction is unfair. For example:
My Cash App account was restricted on [date]. The notice said: [exact wording]. I can no longer [describe the affected feature or funds]. My $Cashtag is [Cashtag], and my account is associated with [phone number or email]. Please review the restriction and tell me whether verification or documents are needed and how to submit them securely. If this concerns a transaction, it was [date and amount], and I believe it is incorrect because [brief reason].
Replace the bracketed details with your own information, and share account identifiers only through an official verified channel. A specific timeline and description make it easier to distinguish a sign-in problem, a general account restriction, and a transaction dispute.

Why might a Cash App account be frozen?
A restriction alone does not establish that an account holder did something wrong. Cash App’s published policies describe circumstances in which Block may limit, suspend, or terminate access, but those general provisions do not identify the reason for an individual account action.

- Policy or prohibited-use concerns: Cash App’s Acceptable Use Policy says prohibited conduct can lead to account closure, blocked app use, and information sharing with law enforcement. It also reserves the ability to suspend or terminate use for policy violations, including without notice. The policy states: “But, if you don’t follow our policy, we may close your account, block you from using the app, and share info about you and your activity with law enforcement.” Cash App Acceptable Use Policy
- Account information or activity that needs review: The U.S. Terms discuss inaccurate or incomplete information, suspected unauthorized or illegal activity, legal process, and other reasons that can apply to specific features. These are examples of grounds described in the terms, not a diagnosis of your case. Cash App Terms of Service
- A legal or third-party demand: Block says it may freeze, withhold, or remit funds in response to a subpoena, court order, search warrant, notice, or other binding governmental or third-party order. The terms give tax levies, garnishment orders, and lien notices as examples. If a hold arises from such a demand, ordinary account review may not resolve the underlying issue; identify the specific notice and seek appropriate advice about that demand. - Feature-specific suspension terms: The U.S. Terms include a provision for certain virtual currency suspensions or terminations under which Block need not disclose decision details. That feature-specific clause should not be treated as a promise that every Cash App restriction will—or will not—be explained. Cash App Terms of Service
Cash App may also require additional authentication when an account is accessed from a new device. The Terms say a customer may be required to set up a new account if Cash App cannot verify the account. Do not create another account to evade a restriction; ask support what verification applies to the account you already have. Cash App Terms of Service
First identify what kind of problem you have
“My account is frozen” can describe several different issues. The route and any reporting period depend on whether the problem is general account access, an electronic transfer error, or a Cash App Card purchase. A transaction deadline is not a general deadline for appealing an account restriction.

The electronic-transfer terms linked above are at Cash App’s Jamaica terms URL. Do not assume that a provision there governs a U.S. account or every Cash App product. Check the current agreement applicable to your account and transaction, and ask support which procedure applies. If you suspect an unauthorized transfer
Report the specific transfer promptly through the applicable dispute route rather than describing it only as a frozen-account problem. Be ready to identify the transaction date, amount, recipient if shown, and why you did not authorize it. Follow the instructions for the product and jurisdiction tied to the account; deadlines and information requirements in an electronic-transfer error process do not automatically govern a Cash App Card purchase or a general restriction. If you dispute a Cash App Card purchase
Use the Cash Card purchase-dispute path: Profile → Support → Cash Card → Dispute a Purchase. Follow the prompts; the Card Program Agreement says a form will be sent to initiate an investigation. What to prepare before contacting support
This is a practical preparation list, not a formal universal checklist required for every Cash App review. Cash App’s terms request identifying information and a description of the issue for certain error inquiries; the exact information depends on the problem.
- Your $Cashtag and the email address or phone number associated with the account.
- The date access was restricted and the exact wording of the in-app or email notice.
- Which function is affected: signing in, sending or receiving money, a displayed balance, a transfer, or a card purchase.
- For a transaction issue, the transaction date and amount, plus a brief explanation of why it appears erroneous or unauthorized.
- What troubleshooting or verification steps you have already taken, and any support case reference.
- A direct request for review and a question about the next verification step or secure document-submission method.
Keep your explanation factual and concise. If support asks for identity documents, confirm that you are still communicating through an official Cash App channel before submitting them. Never provide your password, PIN, or full debit card number, even if a message says your account will otherwise remain frozen. Cash App Terms of Service

If the app is inaccessible
Use the official help site or the phone number published in Cash App’s current U.S. Terms. State that you cannot access the account, when the problem began, and what notice you received. If you recently changed devices, mention that fact; Cash App’s Terms describe additional authentication for access from a new device. Do not try to bypass a restriction by opening another account. - Use your Visa Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, including online.
If a balance is unavailable
Tell support that funds are affected and give the amount displayed, if any, along with the date access changed. Ask whether the restriction is an account review, a transaction-specific issue, or a hold connected to a legal or third-party demand. If a specific transfer or card transaction is involved, use the appropriate dispute route as well; an account-review request and a transaction-error report address different questions.
If you have received a court, tax, garnishment, lien, or other legal notice, preserve it and identify it when seeking help. Block’s terms describe holds in response to binding orders, so a general support review may not settle a dispute about the underlying demand. The terms do not establish that contacting Cash App alone will remove such a hold. Cash App Terms of Service
How to follow up without compromising your account
Keep your follow-up tied to the original case where possible. Refer to the date of your first contact and any case reference, briefly state what remains unresolved, and ask whether Cash App needs anything else from you. Save replies and submission confirmations in one place. If you do not receive a clear answer, use another official contact route listed in the Terms and refer to the existing case; do not assume that a new contact creates a guaranteed escalation or a faster review.

What an account review can—and cannot—promise
A review request gives Cash App an opportunity to consider the restriction or tell you what verification step applies; the published U.S. materials do not promise that every account can be restored, that a particular reviewer will reconsider a decision, or that support must disclose every decision detail. The terms describe broad restriction powers and, for certain features, allow decisions without full disclosure. That is why the most useful request is specific: identify the restriction, provide relevant account or transaction facts, ask for the applicable review or verification process, and keep a record of the response.
If your concern is a regulated transaction error or access to funds under a legal demand, identify the particular product and issue before relying on a deadline or assuming an ordinary freeze review is the right remedy. The relevant terms differ by account feature and claim type; the 10-business-day and 60-day periods described above are not a universal appeal clock.
