For a clearer XR display, start by adjusting the glasses on your face: center the image, make sure all its edges are visible, and correct any cropping before changing menu settings. Then check prescription-lens compatibility, adjust IPD if the image is doubled or incomplete, and tune screen size, distance, text optimization, and brightness. Controls vary by model; the menu paths and numerical settings below are for XREAL One Series unless noted otherwise.
Make one adjustment at a time and check the whole image again. If you change several settings at once, it can be hard to tell whether the fit, IPD, geometry, or display processing helped. These steps can improve the view when the relevant controls are available, but they cannot compensate for an unsupported connection, an incorrect prescription, or hardware limitations.
Start with fit and image position
Connect the glasses to a supported video source and wear them in your normal viewing position. Check whether the image is centered, complete, and free of obvious cropping or shifting. A display that is off-center or cut off is a reason to adjust the fit before changing text or screen settings.

- Adjust the temples. Move the arms vertically, if your model allows it, until the lenses line up with your eyes and the image sits in a natural position.
- Try the nose pads. XREAL’s first-use guidance describes three interchangeable nose-pad sizes. Try the size that positions the lenses correctly; do not assume pads are interchangeable across brands or models.
- Check the image again. Look at the full display, including its edges. RayNeo also recommends adjusting nose-pad and temple position when display edges are unclear, but features and adjustment methods are specific to each product family.
Physical alignment can affect both clarity and how much of the virtual display you can see. For XREAL’s instructions, see XREAL support.

What to look for during the fit check
Use the same content while making small fit changes. Notice whether the display is centered in your view, whether its corners and edges are all visible, and whether moving the glasses slightly changes the apparent sharpness. If the image improves when the glasses sit higher, lower, or at a different angle, that is a useful sign to continue refining the physical position rather than immediately enlarging the screen.
Try the available nose-pad sizes one at a time and settle the glasses in their normal wearing position before judging the image. XREAL’s first-use guidance recommends adjusting the arms, nose pads, and fit position before first use for visual clarity and long-term wearing comfort. That is manufacturer advice for its products, not a promise that fit changes will resolve every image problem. Some other glasses may not offer interchangeable pads or adjustable temples.
If you are shopping for replacement pads, use a model-specific part and verify the shape and compatibility before buying. “XR glasses replacement nose pads” is a useful category to search, but there is no universal pad standard established here. A part that looks similar may not fit your frame.
Check prescription-lens compatibility
If you use prescription glasses, confirm whether your XR model supports prescription inserts and whether the insert is seated securely. Insert frames differ across XREAL One, One Pro, Air 2, and Air families, so an accessory that fits one model may not fit another. Check compatibility for the exact glasses model or ask an optician who can fit the appropriate insert. Do not try to correct a prescription mismatch by enlarging the virtual screen or changing text settings.
Check the device documentation before ordering an insert: compatibility is about the exact glasses model and insert frame, not simply whether the accessory is described as “for XREAL.” If you already have a compatible insert, confirm it is installed securely and positioned as intended. If you are unsure which insert is appropriate, an optician familiar with the model can help fit it. An insert intended for a different XREAL family should not be assumed to fit.
Adjust IPD when the image is doubled or incomplete
Interpupillary distance (IPD) is the distance between the centers of your pupils. XREAL’s One Series tutorial recommends trying IPD adjustment if the screen looks incomplete, appears doubled, or has unclear edges. The adjustment is model-specific; the values below are not universal XR standards.
| Model | Supported IPD range listed by XREAL | Adjustment detail |
|---|---|---|
| XREAL One and One 1S | 59.5–70.5 mm | 13 levels; each step changes IPD by 1 mm from the model center |
| XREAL One Pro (M) | 57–66 mm | 13 levels; each step changes IPD by 1 mm from the model center |
| XREAL One Pro (L) | 66–75 mm | 13 levels; each step changes IPD by 1 mm from the model center |
These specifications come from XREAL’s One Series tutorial; its publication date is not stated on the retrieved page. XREAL also warns that changing IPD can slightly reduce the maximum screen size and farthest screen distance.

The ranges differ between models, including between the One Pro (M) and One Pro (L). Use the range for the specific glasses you own; do not treat the numbers as general XR sizing guidance or infer that a setting outside the listed range is available. IPD adjustment is a troubleshooting control on the listed One Series devices, not proof that every headset or pair of glasses has software IPD adjustment.
Change IPD on XREAL One Series
- Double-click the X button to open the on-screen menu.
- Open Spatial Screen, then select IPD Adjustment.
- Use the plus or minus buttons to change the setting. Check whether the full image and its edges become clearer, and stop when the view improves.
Menu labels can change with software versions. If the path differs on your glasses, use the current manual for that model rather than guessing at another control.
When you adjust IPD, judge whether the image looks more complete and whether doubling or unclear edges improve. Also remember the trade-off XREAL notes: changing the value can slightly reduce maximum screen size and the farthest screen distance. If the image becomes less usable, revisit the prior setting rather than assuming a larger adjustment is always better.
Estimate your IPD carefully
XREAL calls a visit to an optometrist the most accurate way to measure IPD. Its measurement page also describes measuring with a ruler and using a camera-based online tool. Treat those as estimates, not equally accurate substitutes for an optometrist’s measurement. Consult XREAL’s IPD measurement guidance for its available methods.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteMeasurement and adjustment are related but separate: a measurement gives you an estimate of the distance between your pupils, while the glasses’ supported range determines which adjustments their software offers. If using an estimate, make small changes and use the appearance of the image as a check. For a more accurate measurement, XREAL identifies an optometrist visit as the preferred method.
Set screen size and distance separately
Screen size controls how large the virtual display appears; screen distance moves it nearer or farther away. Adjust them as separate controls, aiming for a display that fits within your visible area and a distance that feels comfortable. Making a screen larger does not necessarily solve unclear text, especially if it pushes the display’s edges outside your field of view.
First make sure the image is centered and complete. Then consider size: if text is hard to read but the whole display fits comfortably, a size adjustment may help. If the edges disappear or the display feels too large, reduce its size and check the full perimeter again. Distance is a different control: it changes where the virtual screen appears, rather than simply making the display larger or smaller. Try changing it independently so you can judge its effect.

Adjust the controls on XREAL One Series
- Double-click the X button to open the on-screen menu.
- Open Display.
- Choose Screen Size or Screen Distance, then use the plus or minus controls to adjust each one.
- Check whether the complete display remains visible and whether the text is readable at the new size and distance.
XREAL’s One Series guide gives a specific example for Anchor mode: at a virtual distance of 4 m, set the screen to 117 inches (80% FOV) to avoid placing its edges beyond the field of view. The guide is dated March 3, 2025. This is an example for that model and mode—not a universal XR setting or a recommendation for every wearer.
The example illustrates why the largest possible screen is not necessarily the most useful setting: screen edges can extend beyond the visible area. The 117-inch figure refers to XREAL’s example at a 4 m virtual distance in Anchor mode. It should not be transferred to another model, mode, distance, or wearer as a target.
The One Series OSD guide also lists UltraWide and Side View modes. These change how content is presented; they are optional and are not the first fix to try for blurry text or a poorly aligned display.
Improve text readability and viewing comfort
Once the image is aligned and fully visible, use display settings to refine readability and match the picture to the room. On XREAL One Series, open Display and try Text Optimization to smooth jagged text edges. Adjust Color Temperature to suit your preference and lighting, and reduce brightness in a low-light environment.
Text Optimization is specifically described as a way to smooth jagged edges on XREAL One Series. It is a finishing step, not a substitute for fit or a correctly set screen. If letters remain unclear, check alignment, prescription compatibility, IPD, and whether the screen size and distance leave the display fully visible before relying on this processing setting.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Brightness and color temperature are separate refinements. The manufacturer recommends lowering brightness and warming the color in low-light settings; color temperature can also be adjusted to personal preference and lighting. These options can change how the picture is perceived. They do not establish a medically safe setting or guarantee that eye discomfort will be prevented.
These controls can change perceived readability and comfort, but they do not correct poor physical fit, an incompatible or incorrectly installed prescription insert, or an unsupported video connection. If text remains unclear, return to those checks rather than relying on display processing alone.

The XREAL Air manual advises reducing the brightness difference between the display and the surrounding environment. It also says to stop using the glasses immediately if you experience eye strain or dizziness. The cited manufacturer materials do not establish a universal safe session duration or show that any particular setting prevents eye strain.
In practice, avoid treating a dark room as a reason to keep a bright virtual display unchanged: lower brightness when the display is much brighter than its surroundings, then check whether the image remains comfortable to view. Likewise, do not keep wearing the glasses through eye strain or dizziness. Stop using them if either symptom occurs. No general number of minutes or hours is established here as a safe session limit.
Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| The whole image is shifted, cropped, or not centered | Adjust the fit first: check temple position and nose-pad size, then confirm the image is complete before changing menu settings. |
| The image is doubled or looks incomplete | On XREAL One Series, try IPD Adjustment. Its available range depends on the exact model. |
| The display edges are unclear | Check physical alignment and nose-pad or temple position. RayNeo gives similar fit advice for its own family; adjustment features are not universal. |
| Text edges look jagged | On XREAL One Series, try Text Optimization after confirming fit and screen geometry. |
| The display is too large or its edges are hard to see | Reduce Screen Size or adjust Screen Distance on XREAL One Series. Recheck that the full display fits within your visible area. |
| The picture feels too bright in a dark room | Lower brightness and adjust color temperature to preference. The XREAL Air manual also advises reducing the brightness difference between the screen and surroundings. |
| Discomfort includes eye strain or dizziness | Stop using the glasses. The XREAL Air manual does not set a general safe session length. |
Work through symptoms in order rather than changing every setting at once. A shifted or cropped image points first to fit; a doubled or incomplete view is when XREAL recommends trying IPD adjustment; jagged text edges may respond to Text Optimization on the One Series. If a change makes the image worse, return to the previous setting and continue with a different check.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What varies by XR glasses model
These instructions describe manufacturer-specific features, not a standard menu shared by all XR glasses. Before following a control path or buying an accessory, check the exact model’s current documentation for:
- Whether the temples and nose pads can be adjusted or replaced, and which pad fits that model.
- Whether the device offers software IPD adjustment and what range it supports.
- Whether prescription inserts are available and compatible with the exact glasses.
- Whether its menu includes screen-size, screen-distance, text-optimization, brightness, or color-temperature controls.
Do not assume an XR setting, nose pad, or prescription insert described for one product family will work with another. Manufacturer documentation establishes capabilities for the models it covers, not for XR glasses as a whole.
When comparing glasses or accessories, check the exact IPD compatibility range and whether the adjustment is physical sizing or software control. Also confirm whether nose pads and arms can be adjusted or replaced, whether a prescription insert is offered for that model, and which viewing controls appear in its menu. A feature on one product family is not evidence that another has the same control.

A practical adjustment order
- Center and complete the view. Wear the glasses normally, adjust temples or pads if supported, and check that no edge is cropped.
- Confirm vision correction. Verify that any prescription insert is supported for the exact model and securely installed.
- Address doubling or unclear edges. If you have XREAL One Series, try its IPD Adjustment and check the image after each change.
- Fit the display to your view. Adjust screen size and distance independently; do not use the 4 m, 117-inch Anchor mode example as a universal setting.
- Refine text and room comfort. If available, try Text Optimization for jagged text and adapt brightness and color temperature to the lighting.
- Stop if symptoms occur. Discontinue use if you experience eye strain or dizziness.
This sequence puts fit ahead of processing and comfort refinements because a menu setting cannot reposition glasses that sit incorrectly. It also keeps model-specific steps in their proper context: XREAL One Series menu controls are not universal XR controls, and RayNeo’s fit advice applies to its own family.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the edges of my XR glasses screen blurry?
Start by checking whether the glasses sit correctly and whether the image is centered and complete. Adjust the temples or nose-pad position if your model allows it. RayNeo gives similar fit advice for its glasses family. On XREAL One Series, unclear edges are also one reason to try IPD Adjustment. The relevant controls vary by model.
What should I try if the image looks doubled or incomplete?
Check fit first, then try IPD Adjustment if your model supports it. XREAL recommends this for One Series when the screen appears incomplete, doubled, or has unclear edges. Its listed adjustment ranges are model-specific: 59.5–70.5 mm for One/1S, 57–66 mm for One Pro (M), and 66–75 mm for One Pro (L).
How do I measure IPD accurately?
XREAL describes an optometrist visit as the most accurate method. Its measurement guidance also describes a ruler and a camera-based online tool; treat those as estimates rather than equally accurate substitutes.
Should I change screen size or screen distance to make text clearer?
They are separate controls. Screen size changes how large the virtual display appears; screen distance moves it nearer or farther. Adjust each separately and check that the full display remains visible. On XREAL One Series in Anchor mode, XREAL gives 117 inches (80% FOV) at 4 m as an example to avoid putting the edges beyond the field of view—not as a universal target.
Can I use any XREAL prescription insert or replacement nose pad?
No. Insert frames differ across XREAL One, One Pro, Air 2, and Air families, and replacement pads are not established as a universal fit. Check the exact glasses model and accessory compatibility before buying; an optician can help fit the appropriate prescription insert.
What should I do if the glasses cause eye strain or dizziness?
Stop using the glasses if you experience eye strain or dizziness. The XREAL Air manual gives that instruction, but it does not establish a universal safe session length or a setting that prevents these symptoms.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Do all XR glasses have Text Optimization, IPD adjustment, and the same menus?
No. The control paths and capabilities vary by model. Text Optimization and the cited IPD menu path are for XREAL One Series. Check your exact model’s current documentation for available controls and supported ranges.
The Bottom Line
For clearer XR text, align the glasses and make sure the whole display is visible before changing settings. Check prescription compatibility, use model-specific IPD controls only when appropriate, and adjust screen size separately from distance. Then refine text processing, brightness, and color temperature if your model supports them. Menu paths, accessories, and numerical settings vary by model; stop using the glasses if you experience eye strain or dizziness.
