Adjust HungerSpeedMultiplier, ThirstSpeedMultiplier and FatigueSpeedMultiplier in your server’s sandbox settings. A value of 1.0 is normal, a value between 0.0 and 1.0 slows the need, a value above 1.0 accelerates it, and 0.0 disables that need. Use your host’s Sandbox Settings panel when available; otherwise edit SandboxSettings.ini in the world save folder. Stop the server before changing a file or panel setting, then save and restart it.
What the three survival multipliers control
Abiotic Factor stores hunger, thirst and sleep pressure as separate sandbox multipliers. Each multiplier changes how quickly the corresponding need rises during play; it does not directly change food values, drink values or the character’s maximum health.

The values are speed multipliers, not percentages. For example, 0.5 makes a need accumulate at half the normal rate, while 2.0 makes it accumulate at twice the normal rate. Keep the decimal point in the value and do not add a percent sign.
Choose the control-panel or file-edit method
The control-panel method is the safer choice when your host exposes these settings. It writes the correct configuration for you and avoids guessing the save path. Direct editing is useful on a self-managed server or any host that gives you access to the world files.

Prepare the server before changing settings
- Tell players to disconnect. A restart interrupts the world and can discard unsaved activity.
- Stop the server completely. Do not edit the file while the process is still running. A running server can rewrite the old values when it shuts down.
- Record the current values. Copy the existing settings or take a screenshot of the panel. This gives you a rollback point if the new balance is unpleasant.
- Change only the intended multipliers. Leave unrelated sandbox options untouched unless you have a separate reason to modify them.
- Save the change, then start the server. A restart is required for the server to load the new sandbox data.
Change hunger, thirst and fatigue in a host panel
Panel names differ by provider, but the controls map to the same three keys. Look for a page called Sandbox Settings, Sandbox or a similar survival-settings section.

- Stop the Abiotic Factor server.
- Open the server’s Settings tab.
- Select Sandbox Settings.
- Find the survival multipliers for hunger, thirst and fatigue.
- Enter the desired numeric values. Use values from
0.0through2.0. - Save the settings.
- Start the server and allow the world to finish loading before players reconnect.
Wabbanode’s panel saves the corresponding sandbox values for the world. If the options are not visible, confirm that the server is stopped and that you are editing the correct Abiotic Factor instance rather than a different game or installation.

- Stop the server from the Game Host Bros control panel.
- Open the sandbox or survival settings page.
- Set the hunger, thirst and fatigue multipliers.
- Choose Save & Restart.
That action writes the settings and restarts the instance in one operation. Wait for the server to report that it is online before testing the needs in-game.
When the panel uses different labels
Some panels show friendly labels such as “Hunger speed” rather than the configuration key. Match them by meaning: hunger corresponds to HungerSpeedMultiplier, thirst to ThirstSpeedMultiplier, and sleep pressure or fatigue to FatigueSpeedMultiplier. Do not confuse these with stamina, movement speed or damage multipliers.

Edit SandboxSettings.ini directly
Locate the world file
The commonly documented server-world path is:
AbioticFactor/Saved/SaveGames/Server/Worlds/<WorldName>/SandboxSettings.ini
Replace <WorldName> with the actual directory name of your world. The exact root can vary with the host’s installation layout. Some guides refer to a Config/WindowsServer location instead, so use the path shown by your host’s file manager or current documentation when it differs from the path above.
Check the section header
Open the file with a plain-text editor. The file should contain the section header:
[SandboxSettings]Without that header, the server may not associate the entries with sandbox settings. Keep the header on its own line, with no quotation marks.

Add or change the multipliers
Under the header, add only the keys you want to override. For example:

HungerSpeedMultiplier=0.50
ThirstSpeedMultiplier=0.75
FatigueSpeedMultiplier=0.00This example slows hunger to half the normal rate, slows thirst to three-quarters of normal, and disables fatigue. It is an example configuration, not a required preset; choose values that fit your group’s preferred pace.

If the file already contains one of these keys, edit its number instead of creating a duplicate line. Duplicate entries can make it unclear which value the server will use. Preserve the file’s normal text format, and do not wrap numbers in quotes.
Save safely and restart
- Save the file in the same folder with the exact name
SandboxSettings.ini. - Confirm that your editor did not append an extra extension such as
.txt. - Close the editor so no unsaved lock or pending change remains.
- Start the server.
- Join the world and observe the needs for enough play time to verify that the rate has changed.
Useful values for different play styles
Because each need is independent, you can make one survival pressure gentler without changing the others. The table below shows practical starting points; it does not claim a particular number of in-game minutes because the rate also depends on gameplay conditions and the game’s own simulation.

Change one multiplier at a time when balancing an established co-op world. That makes it easier to identify which adjustment solved a complaint or made the game too easy.
Existing worlds: what is and is not established
Available guidance is inconsistent about whether sandbox choices are permanently fixed when a world is created. One hosting guide describes the settings as being selected during world creation and stored in the save data, while a Steam discussion reports that players changed them on an existing world. Treat existing-world behavior as version- and host-dependent rather than guaranteed.
If a panel change appears to have no effect on an established world, check the host’s current Abiotic Factor documentation before recreating the world. Some guides mention a -SandboxIniPath launch option that can point the server to an alternate sandbox file, but its availability and behavior should be confirmed for your server version and host before you rely on it.
Troubleshoot settings that do not apply
The server ignores the file
- Verify that the file is inside the active world directory, not a similarly named local or backup folder.
- Check the spelling and capitalization of all three keys.
- Confirm the first section is exactly
[SandboxSettings]. - Make sure the file is really named
SandboxSettings.ini, notSandboxSettings.ini.txt. - Stop the server, edit the file, save it, and restart. Editing while it is running can be overwritten.
The panel saves but the old rate remains
- Confirm that you used the panel’s final Save, Save & Restart or equivalent action.
- Wait for a complete restart; reconnecting during a partial restart can put you on an instance that still has the old configuration.
- Check whether the panel controls a different world or server instance than the one you joined.
- Inspect the saved file, if your host provides file access, to see whether the expected keys and values were written.
A value is rejected
Use a plain decimal between 0.0 and 2.0. Remove percent signs, units and quotation marks. Values outside that range may be rejected by a panel or behave unpredictably if entered manually.

Only one need changes
That is expected when only one key was edited. Each need has its own multiplier. Check all three lines or panel fields if you intended to change hunger, thirst and fatigue together.

- Join after the restart has completed.
- Note the current hunger, thirst and fatigue indicators.
- Perform ordinary activities for a consistent period, such as moving around the same base area or completing a short trip.
- Compare the observed change with the previous behavior. A lower multiplier should take longer to produce the same increase; a higher multiplier should produce it sooner.
- If a need does not move at all, confirm that its value is intentionally
0.0and that you are testing the correct world.
Do not judge the setting immediately after joining. Allow enough simulation time for a difference to become visible, and remember that a disabled need should remain unchanged rather than merely filling more slowly.
Rolling back a change
To restore normal behavior, set the affected multiplier back to 1.0, save, and restart the server. If you changed several values and did not record the originals, restoring all three to 1.0 returns the documented default pacing, although it may not restore unrelated sandbox options.
