To change rates on a Conan Exiles dedicated server, stop the server, back up and edit its ServerSettings.ini, restart it, then test the result in-game. A value of 1.0 is the normal baseline for the rate settings described by community guides: values above 1.0 increase a rate, while values below 1.0 reduce it.
The exact setting names can vary with the server build and configuration generator. Treat the keys below as names to verify in your own generated file, not as a substitute for that file. This is especially important for crafting speed, where published guides disagree about which key controls time and whether a higher or lower value is faster.

Rate changes are server-side. Players do not need to edit their clients, but everyone must reconnect after the server restarts. You need administrator access to the dedicated server or to the hosting panel that manages its configuration.
- Hosted server: access to the provider’s stop/start controls and configuration editor or file manager.
- Self-hosted Windows server: access to the installation and its
ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/directory. - Self-hosted Linux server: access to the corresponding
LinuxServerconfiguration directory. - A backup: copy the existing
ServerSettings.inibefore making any change. - A test plan: decide which action will show the change, such as killing an NPC for XP or harvesting one resource node.
Public official documentation does not establish a definitive, version-independent list of rate keys. Hosting and community guides are useful operational references, but your server’s generated file is the authority for which entries it accepts.

Locate ServerSettings.ini
Using a hosted-server control panel
- Open the server’s control panel and choose Stop. Do not edit a live file if the panel may rewrite it during shutdown.
- Open the panel’s configuration editor, often labelled Configuration Files, Server Settings, File Manager or similar. Labels differ by provider.
- Open
ServerSettings.ini. If the panel offers both a simplified form and a raw editor, use the raw file when you need a key that is not exposed in the form. - Download or copy the original file before saving. Keep that copy outside the editor so you can restore it if the server refuses to start or a setting behaves unexpectedly.
A panel may regenerate the file when you save a form or change a game version. Recheck the file after an update and confirm that your entries are still present.
Self-hosted Windows
The usual location is:
ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerSettings.ini

How Conan Exiles rate multipliers work
Most rate entries use a multiplier whose baseline is 1.0. A value of 2.0 generally means twice the baseline, while 0.5 generally means half. The meaning is not universal for every key, however: crafting-related entries are documented inconsistently, so verify them experimentally.

Keep the spelling, capitalization and punctuation used by the generated file. One guide specifically warns that changing ItemConvertionMultiplier to the grammatically correct “Conversion” can cause the game to ignore the entry.
Change a rate safely: the complete procedure
- Announce a maintenance window. Warn connected players that the server will stop and that the new rates will apply after the restart.
- Stop the server cleanly. Use the panel’s Stop control or stop the dedicated-server process. Editing while it is running risks having the process overwrite your changes.
- Back up the file. Copy
ServerSettings.iniand give the copy a dated name, such asServerSettings.ini.backup-2026-10-14. Do not replace the only copy. - Open the generated file. Use the hosted editor or the Windows/Linux path above. Search for the key instead of changing an unrelated file.
- Change only the required value. Preserve the existing key name and use a decimal value such as
1.5,2.0or0.7. Avoid changing several unrelated systems at once; isolating changes makes testing possible. - Save the file in plain text. Do not add quotation marks, commas or comments unless your existing editor already uses a format that supports them. Keep each setting on its own line in the same key-value style as the file.
- Start or restart the server. Rate changes normally require a restart before the game loads them.
- Verify the live result. Join with an administrator character and perform a controlled action. Record the old and new result when possible, then ask another player to confirm the experience from a normal account.
- Restore if necessary. Stop the server, replace the edited file with your backup, and restart if the server fails to load or the setting produces an unwanted result.
Adjust XP without accidentally multiplying it twice
PlayerXPRateMultiplier is described as a global or master XP value. The kill, harvest, craft and time entries provide more targeted control. The global value can stack with a source-specific value, so calculate the combination before you publish a setting.
For example, a guide describes PlayerXPRateMultiplier=2.0 together with PlayerXPHarvestMultiplier=2.0 as producing four times the harvest XP: the two multipliers multiply rather than simply adding two percentage points. If you want approximately double harvest XP while leaving other XP sources at their normal baseline, use a deliberate combination such as a global value of 1.0 and a harvest value of 2.0, then verify the result in-game.

Global XP
Raise PlayerXPRateMultiplier when you want a broad change affecting the server’s XP economy. A value such as 1.5 is a moderate community-style increase; it is not an official recommended value. Lowering it below 1.0 slows progression.
Kill, harvest and craft XP
Use PlayerXPKillMultiplier, PlayerXPHarvestMultiplier and PlayerXPCraftMultiplier when one activity should progress differently from the others. Change one source-specific entry at a time and test the relevant activity. Remember that harvest XP is separate from the quantity of stone, wood or other material collected.
Passive time XP
PlayerXPTimeMultiplier is described as passive XP awarded for being logged in. If players gain unexpected experience while standing idle, inspect this value as well as the global XP setting.
Set harvesting yield and resource respawn independently
Harvest quantity
HarvestAmountMultiplier changes the amount obtained from each harvest action. A community guide suggests that values from 1.0 to 3.0 are sensible starting points and warns that values above 3.0 can make inventories overflow after every harvest. That is a practical warning from a third-party guide, not a game-enforced limit; server hardware, stack settings and the activity being harvested can change the experience.
Use a lower value when you want gathering to remain a meaningful part of progression, or a higher value when a small group must support large construction projects. Test a common resource and a heavy resource separately if your server’s balance depends on both.

Respawn timing
ResourceRespawnSpeedMultiplier controls how fast resources return after depletion. It is a different lever from HarvestAmountMultiplier: increasing yield does not necessarily make a node return sooner, and increasing respawn speed does not necessarily increase the amount obtained per hit.
Change one of these values at a time. Otherwise, a player who sees more resources may not know whether the cause was larger harvests, faster respawns or both.
Crafting speed is the least certain setting area
Do not assume that one universally accepted “crafting speed” key exists. Published guides disagree about two names and their direction:

For a controlled test, choose a recipe with a duration you can observe, stop the server, change only one candidate key, restart, and time the recipe from queue to completion. If there is no change, restore the value and test the other key. A typo, a panel that rewrites unknown entries, or a server build that does not recognize the key can all look like a failed multiplier.
Never silently “correct” ItemConvertionMultiplier to ItemConversionMultiplier. The warning from a community guide is that the corrected spelling may be ignored, even though it looks more natural.

Community preset examples
The following are third-party starting points, not official Funcom presets and not guarantees for every server version. Copy only the entries you understand, and verify the resulting play experience.

Because the crafting and conversion entries are disputed, apply the preset in stages instead of pasting every value at once. Start with XP or harvest, verify those systems, and only then test crafting, conversion and spoil-related entries.
Use a small, repeatable test plan
XP test
- Choose one repeatable action, such as the same type of NPC kill.
- Record the character’s XP immediately before and after the action.
- Change only the global or relevant source-specific key, restart, and repeat the same action.
- If the increase is larger than expected, inspect both the global XP value and the source-specific value for stacking.
Harvest test
- Use one resource node and count the items produced by a fixed number of hits.
- Do not change respawn speed during this test; it does not affect the amount from the current action.
- After testing yield, leave the area and measure return time separately if you changed
ResourceRespawnSpeedMultiplier.
Crafting test
- Select a recipe with a visible, repeatable duration and note the station used.
- Change one candidate crafting key and restart.
- Time the recipe from queue to completion under the same conditions.
- If the duration is unchanged, check the spelling in the generated file and test the alternative key rather than raising the value repeatedly.
Troubleshoot changes that do not appear
The server reverted the value
Confirm that the server was stopped before editing and that you saved the same ServerSettings.ini used by the running instance. Hosted panels can regenerate configuration files; reopen the file after saving and after every game or server update.
The rate is much higher than intended
Check for a global XP multiplier combined with a source-specific multiplier. For harvesting, distinguish XP from material yield: changing both can make progression appear to accelerate twice even when each individual value looks reasonable.
Crafting speed did not change
Check whether your file uses CraftingTimeMultiplier, ItemConvertionMultiplier, or neither. Preserve the game’s spelling, test one key at a time, and remember that CraftingCostMultiplier concerns materials rather than duration.
The server will not start after editing
Stop the process, restore the backup, and start again. Once the server is running, reapply one change at a time using the exact syntax and key names already present in the generated file. This isolates a malformed entry from a key that the current build simply ignores.
Players report overflowing inventories
Reduce HarvestAmountMultiplier and test a normal harvesting route. One community guide specifically warns that values above 3.0 can produce more material than inventories can comfortably hold on every action.

Because documentation conflicts, test the exact key in your file; do not use cost scaling as a proxy. |
Keep a simple change log containing the date, key, old value, new value and test result. It makes seasonal events, wipes and version updates easier to reverse without guessing which adjustment changed the server economy.
