Prefer not to run the server on your own PC? Godlike.Host offers hosted Palworld servers with free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day.
Palworld does not provide a documented official DungeonRespawnTime slider. On a dedicated server, the supported workaround is to raise DayTimeSpeedRate and NightTimeSpeedRate, which accelerates the whole world clock and can shorten dungeon and boss timers. If you need an exact cooldown for fixed-dungeon bosses, a UE4SS Lua mod exposes RespawnTimeSeconds; it must run on the authoritative PC host or dedicated server, not on a joining client.
What you can and cannot change
Pocketpair’s current official server-parameter table does not list a standalone dungeon-respawn setting. The documented timing controls are broader:
Recommended Free Tools
| Parameter | What it controls | Use for dungeon respawn? |
|---|---|---|
DayTimeSpeedRate |
The speed of daytime progression. | Yes, as a world-wide workaround. |
NightTimeSpeedRate |
The speed of nighttime progression. | Yes, as a world-wide workaround. |
CollectionObjectRespawnSpeedRate |
Intervals for gatherable objects. | No; it is not a dungeon-boss timer. |
Changing the two clock-rate values affects more than dungeons. It changes the pace of other systems that use the world clock, including resource and survival timing. There is no official parameter that targets only dungeon entrances or dungeon bosses.
Pick the right method
| Method | Precision | Where it runs | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| World-clock settings | Broad speed multipliers | Supported dedicated-server configuration | Other world systems also run faster or slower. |
| UE4SS dungeon-boss mod | Explicit seconds value | Compatible PC/Windows authoritative host or dedicated server | Requires a mod dependency and may need maintenance after game patches. |
Use the official settings when you want a server-wide change without adding a mod. Use the UE4SS option when the target is a fixed-dungeon boss and you need a predictable cooldown in seconds. Neither method lets a joining multiplayer client impose its own timer.

Change dungeon timing through official dedicated-server settings
1. Identify the active settings file
Pocketpair’s server guide directs administrators to edit:
steamappscommonPalServerPalSavedConfigWindowsServerPalWorldSettings.ini
Make a backup copy before changing anything. The active file is PalWorldSettings.ini. Do not edit DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini expecting the change to apply; that file is not the live configuration used for your running world.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →2. Stop the server before editing
- Stop the dedicated server cleanly from its control panel or service manager.
- Copy the active
PalWorldSettings.inito a safe backup location. - Open the active file in a plain-text editor.
Stopping first prevents the process from retaining old values or overwriting your edit during shutdown.
3. Locate the two clock-rate parameters
Find DayTimeSpeedRate and NightTimeSpeedRate in the settings entry. Increase the values according to the syntax already used in your file, then save it. Keep the two settings deliberately aligned if you want day and night to pass at comparable speeds; changing only one creates a different day/night balance.

The official table defines these as progression speeds, not as dungeon-specific multipliers. A higher value makes the corresponding part of the in-game clock advance faster. The exact dungeon result therefore depends on how the encounter’s timer is tied to world time, and it should be verified in the live game rather than inferred from the setting name.
4. Restart and test
- Start the server again after saving the file.
- Enter the affected dungeon and note the entrance or boss timer.
- Allow enough in-game time to pass to confirm that the timer behaves as intended.
- Check another clock-driven activity so you know what wider timing changes your players will experience.
If the server starts with an error or appears unchanged, stop it, restore the backup, and confirm that you edited the active Windows-server file rather than the default template.

Hosted dedicated servers commonly expose the same values through a Properties, Configuration, or equivalent panel instead of direct file access. The safe sequence is:
- Stop the Palworld server in the provider panel.
- Open the server’s properties or configuration page.
- Change
DayTimeSpeedRateandNightTimeSpeedRate. - Save the configuration.
- Restart the server and verify the in-game timer.
The panel is only another way to write the server configuration. It does not create a dungeon-only control, and the resulting clock-rate change still applies to other systems.

Set an exact fixed-dungeon boss cooldown with UE4SS
A UE4SS Lua mod named Dungeon Boss Respawn Time Modify rewrites the server-authoritative cooldown for supported fixed-dungeon bosses. It is the precise option because you enter a number of seconds rather than a general world-clock multiplier.
Install it on the authoritative instance
Install the mod on whichever process owns the world:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- The single-player game when playing alone.
- The game process of the player hosting a co-op session.
- The dedicated server process for a dedicated world.
A client that merely joins someone else’s world cannot override the timer. If the host or server does not have the mod, changing files on a joining client has no authoritative effect.
Configure the cooldown
The mod’s configuration uses this Lua structure:
return {
RespawnTimeSeconds = 3600,
ApplyToExistingCooldowns = true,
Debug = false,
}
RespawnTimeSeconds is a direct seconds value. For example, 30 means 30 seconds, 600 means 10 minutes, and 3600 means one hour. Values are rounded to whole seconds. A value that is zero, or that rounds to zero, is clamped to a one-second minimum.

ApplyToExistingCooldowns = true tells the mod to re-time cooldowns that were already running when the configuration takes effect. With it enabled, a boss already defeated before the change can use the new interval rather than waiting under the old one. Debug = false leaves diagnostic output disabled; enable it only when the mod’s own troubleshooting instructions call for logging.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Apply a configuration change
- Stop Palworld or the dedicated server that owns the world.
- Edit the mod’s configuration file without changing the Lua table structure.
- Enter the desired whole-second value for
RespawnTimeSeconds. - Save the file.
- Restart Palworld or the server.
- Defeat or capture a supported boss, then verify the displayed cooldown.
Restarting is required because the server-authoritative timer is initialized by the running process. Editing the file while the process remains online does not guarantee that the current world has loaded the new value.
Know the mod’s scope
The mod is limited to fixed-dungeon bosses. It supports both defeating and capturing those bosses, and it can re-time existing cooldowns when the corresponding option is enabled. It does not cover:
- Field Alpha encounters.
- Raid bosses.
- Tower bosses.
- Random cave-dungeon timers.
If the encounter you are testing falls into one of those excluded categories, an unchanged timer is expected. The mod cannot turn an excluded encounter into a fixed-dungeon target.

Dungeon entrance cycles are not the same as boss cooldowns
A third-party Palworld dungeon reference currently lists 11 cave dungeons and 140 layout variants. It describes each cave dungeon as operating on a 299-minute cycle: the entrance temporarily closes when the cycle ends, and the cycle continues while a player is logged out.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThose figures describe an entrance or cave cycle, not proof of a universal boss-respawn value. Game updates can change third-party counts and timings. Use the live timer at the dungeon entrance as the authority for the version you are playing. If the entrance is closed while a fixed-dungeon boss is also on cooldown, treat those as separate timers when diagnosing a result.
Troubleshoot a timer that did not change
The official setting had no effect
- Wrong file: Confirm that you edited
PalWorldSettings.iniunder the activeWindowsServerpath, notDefaultPalWorldSettings.ini. - No restart: Stop and start the server after saving. A live process may still be using the previous values.
- Only one clock value changed: Check both
DayTimeSpeedRateandNightTimeSpeedRate, especially if the test occurred during the other phase of the day. - Wrong expectation: The settings accelerate world timing broadly; they are not a direct fixed-dungeon-boss command. A particular entrance or encounter may follow a different timer.
The UE4SS mod had no effect
- Client-only installation: Move the installation to the single-player process, co-op host, or dedicated server that owns the world. A joining client cannot change an authoritative cooldown.
- Excluded encounter: Confirm that the target is a fixed-dungeon boss rather than a field Alpha, raid, tower, or random cave-dungeon timer.
- Existing cooldown option: If the boss was already defeated, ensure
ApplyToExistingCooldownsis enabled when you expect the running cooldown to be re-timed. - Missing restart: Restart Palworld or the server after every configuration edit.
- Patch compatibility: A game update can require a mod update. If the mod stops loading after a patch, check its current compatibility information before changing unrelated server settings.
The timer seems impossibly long or short
Check the unit first: RespawnTimeSeconds is seconds, not minutes. Thus 600 is 10 minutes, while 3600 is one hour. Also distinguish a dungeon entrance’s cycle timer from a fixed boss’s cooldown; changing one does not establish that the other uses the same clock.
How to choose and safely roll back
Choose the official clock method when
- You administer a supported dedicated server and want to avoid a mod dependency.
- You accept that other world-clock systems will change with dungeon timing.
- A broad acceleration is sufficient and exact seconds are not essential.
Choose the UE4SS method when
- Your encounter is a fixed-dungeon boss within the mod’s stated scope.
- You control a compatible PC/Windows authoritative host or dedicated server.
- You need a specific interval such as 30 seconds, 10 minutes, or one hour.
Restore the previous behavior
- Stop the server or game process.
- For official settings, restore the backed-up
PalWorldSettings.ini, or return the two clock-rate values to their previous settings. - For the mod, restore the previous
RespawnTimeSecondsvalue or remove the mod according to its installation instructions. - Start the authoritative process and verify a fresh timer in-game.
Keep a dated backup whenever you change a multiplayer world. It gives you a known state to restore if a setting, mod update, or game patch produces unexpected timing.
