You can change the XREAL One Pro+ display without a phone or computer. Double-click the red X button on the right temple to open the on-screen display (OSD), then use Spatial Screen for size, distance, stabilization, and leveling. For brightness, open the Quick Panel with either + or −. Pressing X cycles the motion behavior between Follow and Anchor.
The controls below follow XREAL’s current One Pro tutorials. Menu names and shortcuts can change with firmware, so update the glasses if a control described here is missing.
Controls and menus you need
The right temple contains the controls used throughout this guide:
- X: selects an item in the OSD, cycles motion modes, and selects axes in Screen Leveling.
- + and −: move through choices, change a selected value, and open the Quick Panel when clicked outside the OSD.
- Double-click X: opens the OSD. A single click is used for motion-mode cycling when the OSD is closed.
The OSD is divided into Spatial Screen, Display, Sound, My, and Other. Screen geometry and motion controls are under Spatial Screen. Brightness is easiest to reach from the Quick Panel, although display-related options may also appear in Display depending on firmware.

Open the on-screen display
- Put on the glasses and connect them to the source device as usual.
- Locate the red X button on the right temple.
- Double-click the button. The OSD appears in the virtual display.
- Use + or − to move through categories and options.
- Press X to enter or select an item.
If the OSD does not appear, make sure the glasses are powered and receiving video, then try a deliberate double-click rather than a long press. If individual menu items are absent, check firmware before assuming the hardware lacks the feature.
Change virtual screen size
XREAL lists 171 inches as the One Pro default screen size. This is the apparent diagonal size of the virtual image, not the physical size of a panel inside the glasses. The setting changes how large the screen appears in your field of view.
Exact steps
- Double-click the red X button to open the OSD.
- Select Spatial Screen and press X.
- Choose Screen Size and press X.
- Click + to enlarge the virtual screen or − to reduce it.
- Hold + or − when you want fine adjustment. XREAL documents 4-inch changes for each held adjustment increment.
Increase the size when text or a video feels too small at your chosen distance. Reduce it if you must move your head to see the edges or if the image feels visually overwhelming. Size and distance are independent: you can keep a large screen while moving it nearer, or keep the same distance while making the screen smaller.

| Decrease size | Click or hold − | Moves to a smaller virtual image. |
| Fine adjustment | 4-inch increments while holding a button | Lets you make smaller changes than a large single jump. |
Change virtual screen distance
Screen Distance controls how far away the virtual screen appears. The documented default is 4 m, with an adjustable range of 1–10 m. This is a virtual distance, not the physical distance from your eyes to the glasses.

- Open the OSD with a double-click of X.
- Enter Spatial Screen.
- Select Screen Distance and press X.
- Click + to move the screen farther away.
- Click − to bring it closer.
- Hold either button for finer movement. Each held adjustment changes distance in 0.1 m increments.
A single click changes the distance by 1 m, while holding the button gives the 0.1 m steps documented by XREAL. If the screen feels too close for comfortable reading, move it outward before reducing its size. If interface elements seem tiny, move the screen closer or increase its size rather than changing both at once.

Adjust brightness
Brightness uses the Quick Panel rather than requiring you to navigate through several OSD pages. XREAL notes that this shortcut requires current glasses firmware.
Quick Panel procedure
- With the OSD closed, click either + or − once. The Quick Panel opens.
- Press X until Brightness is selected.
- Click + to raise brightness or − to lower it.
- Hold a button to move through the brightness levels continuously or make a longer adjustment.
- Stop pressing the controls and allow the panel to close, or follow the on-screen exit behavior shown by your firmware.
If clicking + or − opens a different panel, or Brightness is not listed, update the glasses through XREAL’s OTA firmware process and try again. Firmware labels and available controls can change, so do not use an older menu map as proof that your unit is defective.

XREAL cautions that natural visual persistence can create slight blur or trailing when the virtual screen is moving. Lowering brightness may reduce how noticeable those artifacts are. This is a comfort and image-quality trade-off: a dimmer setting can make motion look cleaner, but it may be less suitable in a bright room.

Choose Follow or Anchor motion behavior
The motion mode determines what happens when you move your head. With the OSD closed, click X to cycle between Follow and Anchor.
| Mode | Behavior | Best fit | Important control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Follow | The screen moves smoothly with your head movement. | Reading or watching while you want the image to remain aligned with your gaze. | Long-press X to recenter. |
| Anchor | The screen remains fixed in a stable position in space. | Use when you want a room-stable virtual screen. | Screen Leveling is available. |
Switching modes
- Close the OSD if it is open.
- Click X once to move to the next motion mode.
- Repeat the click until the desired label appears.
- In Follow, long-press X whenever the screen no longer sits where you want it.
Recenter in Follow after changing posture or handing the glasses to another person. In Anchor, moving your head does not intentionally drag the screen along with you; instead, the virtual image stays at its spatial position.
Reduce shake with Stabilizer
Stabilizer applies real-time compensation for subtle head movement. XREAL says it is enabled by default in Follow mode and recommends it when you want a steadier image during movement.
Enable or disable it
- Double-click X to open the OSD.
- Enter Spatial Screen.
- Select Stabilizer and press X.
- Choose the enabled or disabled state.
- Exit the OSD and move your head gently to judge the result.
Understand the trade-off
Enabling Stabilizer can make the image feel steadier while walking or during other head movement. XREAL also warns that stabilization may impose brightness limits and introduce slight blur or trailing. Disabling it can improve perceived display quality and responsiveness when you are sitting still, but small head movements may be more visible.

- YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
- ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
- 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
- LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
- WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.
- Choose enabled when shake is distracting, especially during walking or frequent head movement.
- Choose disabled when maximum display quality matters more than motion compensation and you can keep your head relatively still.
- If the image looks dimmer or less crisp after enabling it, compare both states at the same brightness and posture before deciding.
Level a tilted screen
Screen Leveling corrects a virtual screen that appears rotated or skewed. XREAL makes this control available in Anchor or Spatial Anchor.
Exact steps
- Switch to Anchor or Spatial Anchor.
- Open the OSD with a double-click of X.
- Go to Spatial Screen > Screen Leveling.
- Press X to cycle through Roll, Yaw, and Pitch.
- Use + or − to correct the selected axis.
- Repeat for another axis if necessary, then exit the menu.
Each adjustment changes the selected axis by 0.5°. The documented range is −5° to +5°. The setting supports power-off memory, so the correction can persist after the glasses are turned off.
- Roll: corrects a clockwise or counterclockwise tilt.
- Yaw: corrects left-right rotational misalignment.
- Pitch: corrects an upward or downward tilt.
Make one small change at a time and look at a straight horizontal or vertical edge. Large corrections can make the screen feel unnatural if the underlying issue is your fit or interpupillary-distance setting.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPractical setup choices
Desk or seated viewing
- Start at the documented 4 m distance and 171-inch size.
- Choose Anchor if you want the screen to remain in one room position.
- Use Screen Leveling only if the anchored image is visibly tilted.
- Disable Stabilizer if you are still and prefer the highest perceived display quality.
- Set brightness high enough for comfortable reading, then lower it if motion blur or trailing becomes noticeable.
Walking or frequent head movement
- Choose Follow so the screen moves smoothly with your head.
- Long-press X to recenter after you settle your posture.
- Enable Stabilizer if small movements make the image shake.
- If stabilization makes the image dimmer or less crisp, test a lower brightness or disable Stabilizer when you stop moving.
Small text or a crowded interface
- Move Screen Distance closer in 0.1 m steps before making a very large size change.
- Increase Screen Size if the entire interface remains too small.
- Recenter Follow after changing your head position so text does not drift away from your preferred gaze area.
Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Brightness is not in the Quick Panel | Outdated firmware or a changed menu layout | Update the glasses through the OTA process, then open the panel again with + or −. |
| Double-clicking does not open the OSD | Timing, inactive glasses, or no active display connection | Confirm power and video, then try two quick clicks on the red X. |
| The screen follows when you want it fixed | Follow mode is active | Click X to switch to Anchor. |
| The screen is fixed but you want it to track your gaze | Anchor mode is active | Click X to switch to Follow and long-press X to recenter. |
| The image shakes during movement | Stabilizer is disabled or motion is too pronounced for the current setting | Enable Stabilizer under Spatial Screen and compare the result at the same brightness. |
| The image looks dimmer, blurred, or leaves trails after stabilization | Stabilizer’s documented brightness and image-quality trade-off | Lower brightness to reduce persistence, or disable Stabilizer when you are sitting still. |
| Screen Leveling is unavailable | The glasses are not in Anchor or Spatial Anchor | Switch to one of those modes before opening Spatial Screen. |
| The screen remains tilted after leveling | Wrong axis selected or the glasses are not sitting consistently | Try Roll, Yaw, and Pitch separately in 0.5° steps, and check the fit before applying a large correction. |
Fit, IPD, and prescription-lens comfort
Software adjustments cannot correct every visual-comfort problem. XREAL recommends matching the One Pro’s M/L setting to your interpupillary distance (IPD). A mismatch can make a screen seem off-center or force your eyes to work harder even when size, distance, and leveling are correct.

If you need vision correction, XREAL recommends prescription lenses. Use the appropriate prescription insert or custom lens option for your model rather than trying to compensate by enlarging the virtual screen. A larger image may improve readability, but it does not correct an optical prescription mismatch.
Firmware and support checks
Keep the glasses firmware current. XREAL ties the Quick Panel brightness shortcut and newer screen features to firmware updates, and menu labels can change between releases. When a setting described in this guide is missing:
- Check the glasses’ current firmware version using XREAL’s OTA update process.
- Install an available update according to XREAL’s instructions.
- Restart the glasses and reopen the OSD.
- Check Spatial Screen and the Quick Panel again before troubleshooting cables or hardware.
If the control is still unavailable after updating, consult the support information for your exact regional model and firmware. The One Pro documentation and companion-device support can vary by release, so use the instructions supplied for the glasses you own.
