The dependable way to add Calendly to WordPress is to generate an embed from Calendly’s Add to website menu, then paste the complete code into WordPress. Use a Custom HTML block on WordPress.org, a supported HTML block on eligible WordPress.com plans, or an Elementor Shortcode widget. Calendly offers three presentation styles: an inline scheduler, pop-up text, and a floating pop-up widget.
Choose the style that matches the booking experience you want, publish it, and test the page on desktop and mobile. The instructions below cover ordinary pages, site-wide widgets, WordPress.com plan limits, Elementor’s extra-scrollbar issue, and an advanced JavaScript implementation.

Prepare these items before opening WordPress:
- A Calendly account with at least one active event type.
- Access to the Calendly page you want visitors to use: either a landing page containing your active personal or team event types, or a booking page for one event type.
- Permission to edit the WordPress page, template, or theme area where the code will be placed.
- A way to preview the result on a computer and a phone.
Calendly generates the JavaScript and markup for you. Do not try to construct a booking URL or rewrite the embed snippet by hand. Open the relevant Calendly page, select its three-dot menu, choose Add to website, select an embed style, adjust the available settings, and click Copy code. The copied snippet is the version to paste into WordPress.
“You can embed your Calendly page so visitors can schedule time without leaving your site.”

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That behavior is the main advantage of an embed: the visitor can complete scheduling without being sent to a separate browser page.
Choose the right Calendly embed style
Calendly’s three documented choices differ mainly in how much page space they use and how visitors start the booking flow.

| Inline embed | The scheduler is visible inside the page. | A page whose primary job is collecting appointments, such as a “Book a call” page. | It occupies substantial vertical space, especially when event details and available times are displayed. |
| Pop-up text | A normal text link or button opens Calendly in a pop-up. | A compact call to action in a paragraph, hero section, or button. | Visitors must click before they can see times. |
| Pop-up widget | A floating button remains available and opens the scheduler when selected. | Sites where booking should be reachable from many pages or sections. | The floating control is persistent and can overlap other interface elements if the theme places content near the screen edge. |
Use inline when showing availability immediately is more important than conserving space. Use pop-up text when the booking action belongs inside existing copy or a button. Use the pop-up widget when visitors may decide to book while browsing several different pages.
Generate the code in Calendly
- Sign in to Calendly and open the landing page containing your active personal or team event types, or open the booking page for one event type.
- Open the page’s three-dot menu.
- Choose Add to website.
- Select Inline embed, Pop-up text, or Pop-up widget.
- Adjust the settings Calendly presents for that style.
- Click Copy code.
Keep the complete copied snippet together. It commonly contains both HTML and JavaScript; copying only the visible link or only part of the script can leave an empty area in WordPress. If you later change the event type, landing page, or embed settings, generate a fresh snippet and replace the old one rather than trying to edit individual attributes.

Add an inline Calendly scheduler to WordPress.org
WordPress.org sites generally use the block editor. The Custom HTML block is the appropriate place for Calendly’s generated inline code.
- Sign in to the WordPress dashboard.
- Open Pages and select the page where the scheduler should appear, or create a new page.
- Place the cursor where the scheduler belongs and add a Custom HTML block.
- Paste the complete code copied from Calendly into that block.
- Use the editor’s preview option to check the placement and approximate height.
- Select Update for an existing page or Publish for a new page.
Leave the block’s contents as code. A paragraph block, visual text editor, or rich-text field can escape JavaScript characters or convert the snippet into visible text instead of running it. If the page shows code rather than a scheduler, remove that block and insert a new Custom HTML block.
Make the inline area easy to use
- Give the scheduler its own section rather than placing it inside a narrow column.
- Check the page at the same width your visitors use; a multi-column layout can make the booking area uncomfortably narrow.
- Keep a clear heading above the block so visitors know what they are scheduling.
- After publishing, select a real time slot in a test booking flow and confirm that the confirmation step appears.
Add a floating pop-up widget across a WordPress.org site
For a site-wide floating control, Calendly instructs WordPress.org users to place the widget code in the theme footer immediately before the closing </body> tag.
- In the WordPress dashboard, open Appearance > Editor.
- Open the footer template or footer area used by the active theme.
- Locate the end of the markup and place the complete Calendly pop-up widget code immediately before
</body>. - Save the template.
- Preview several pages, including a page with long content and one with forms or other floating controls.
A footer insertion makes the widget available beyond a single booking page. It also means the button can appear on every page using that footer, so check that it does not cover chat controls, cookie notices, navigation, or mobile content. If your theme does not expose an editable footer in the Site Editor, use the theme’s documented footer-code area rather than inserting scripts into an arbitrary content block.

Embed Calendly on WordPress.com
WordPress.com support depends on the plan and the capabilities enabled for that site. On a plan that supports custom plugins or HTML blocks, the process is similar to WordPress.org:
- Edit the target page.
- Add a Custom HTML block.
- Paste the complete Calendly code.
- Preview the page.
- Select Update when the result is correct.
On a WordPress.com plan without that support, use a normal text or image link instead. Link the text, button, or image to the Calendly scheduling page, a particular event type, or a team page. This fallback sends the visitor to Calendly rather than rendering the scheduler inside WordPress, but it does not require JavaScript in the page content.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How to tell which WordPress.com approach applies
- If the editor lets you add and save a Custom HTML block without stripping the code, an embed may be available.
- If the block is unavailable, sanitized, or removed when you update the page, use a standard link.
- Do not repeatedly paste the same script into a block that the plan does not permit; the code cannot run if WordPress.com removes it during sanitization.
Add Calendly with Elementor
Elementor pages use a widget rather than the block editor’s Custom HTML block. Calendly’s Elementor procedure is:
- Open the page in Elementor.
- Drag a Shortcode widget onto the section where the scheduler or trigger should appear.
- In the widget’s Content tab, paste the complete Calendly embed code.
- Preview the page at desktop and mobile widths.
- Publish or update the page once the booking flow and layout are correct.
Elementor can add overflow-y:auto to the surrounding area. That can create a second scrollbar inside the page, forcing visitors to scroll both the page and the scheduler. If an extra scrollbar appears, set the relevant inline widget’s overflow to hidden:

.calendly-inline-widget { overflow-y: hidden !important; }
Apply the rule only to the Calendly inline widget or its dedicated container. Broadly hiding overflow on the entire page can clip menus, notices, or other content. Recheck the event list, calendar, and confirmation view after applying the rule because the scheduler’s height can change between steps.
Advanced JavaScript embedding
The generated snippet is the simplest and safest option for most WordPress sites. Developers may need a custom implementation when the scheduler must be inserted into a particular target element or populated with visitor data. Calendly documents loading its external widget script, creating a target div, and calling Calendly.initInlineWidget.
<script src="https://assets.calendly.com/assets/external/widget.js" type="text/javascript" async></script>
<div id="calendly-target" style="min-width:320px;height:700px;"></div>
<script>
Calendly.initInlineWidget({
url: 'YOUR_SCHEDULING_URL',
parentElement: document.getElementById('calendly-target'),
prefill: {},
utm: {}
});
</script>
YOUR_SCHEDULING_URL is a code placeholder: replace it with the scheduling URL for the Calendly page you intend to display. The parentElement value must identify the target container. The optional prefill and utm objects can be populated when your implementation needs to pass those values.
Use this approach only when the standard code from Add to website or a WordPress block cannot meet the layout requirement. A custom script introduces more places for a theme, optimization layer, or content-security rule to interfere, so test it after every significant theme or performance change.

Test the embed before announcing the page
Publishing the page is not the end of the setup. Run this checklist in a private browser window as well as while logged in:
- The scheduler loads instead of displaying raw code or an empty container.
- The intended event type or landing page is shown.
- Available dates and times can be selected.
- The visitor can complete the form and reach Calendly’s confirmation state.
- The inline frame or pop-up fits at a narrow mobile width.
- The floating widget does not cover navigation, cookie controls, or another floating button.
- The browser does not show a second scrollbar around an Elementor inline embed.
- Refreshing the page does not create duplicate widgets.
Calendly’s code requires JavaScript. A WordPress theme can affect whether that JavaScript runs and how the embed is styled, so always preview the published page rather than relying solely on the editor canvas.
Troubleshoot common WordPress and Calendly problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Only a blank area appears. | The code was truncated, JavaScript was removed, or the page is being viewed in an editor that does not execute scripts. | Regenerate the snippet with Add to website, paste the complete code into a Custom HTML block or Elementor Shortcode widget, then test the published URL. |
| The code is visible as text. | It was pasted into a paragraph or rich-text field. | Move it to a Custom HTML block or the Elementor Shortcode widget. |
| The scheduler works on one page but not another. | The second page uses a different template, footer, or content field. | Inspect where the snippet was inserted and verify that the same JavaScript is allowed in that template. |
| An extra vertical scrollbar appears in Elementor. | Elementor added overflow-y:auto. |
Apply .calendly-inline-widget { overflow-y: hidden !important; } to the relevant inline widget and retest all scheduler states. |
| The floating button overlaps another control. | Both controls occupy the same edge of the viewport. | Move or remove the competing control, or choose pop-up text on pages where a persistent widget is not appropriate. |
| WordPress.com strips the snippet. | The site’s plan does not permit the required custom HTML or script. | Use a normal text or image link to the Calendly scheduling page, event type, or team page. |
| Visitors see stale event choices. | An old generated snippet is still embedded. | Return to Calendly, select the current page, copy new code, and replace the old block. |
Decide between an inline embed, pop-up text, and widget
Use this short decision framework:
- If booking is the sole or dominant purpose of the page, start with an inline embed.
- If booking is one action among several and should open from a sentence or button, choose pop-up text.
- If visitors should be able to book while moving through unrelated pages, choose a pop-up widget and place it in the shared footer.
- If your WordPress.com plan cannot run the code, publish a conventional link instead of trying to bypass the plan limitation.
- If Elementor creates nested scrolling, keep the Shortcode widget but correct the inline widget’s overflow.
These choices are presentation decisions, not different Calendly accounts. You can generate another style later and replace the code without rebuilding the WordPress page.
Maintain the integration
- When you deactivate or rename an event type, check every page that embeds it.
- After changing themes, footer templates, optimization settings, or Elementor layouts, test both inline and pop-up experiences again.
- Keep one clearly labeled booking page as a fallback link, even if most visitors use an inline or pop-up experience.
- When troubleshooting, first compare the live page with a newly generated Calendly snippet; this separates a WordPress placement problem from an outdated Calendly configuration.
The practical rule is simple: generate the code in Calendly, insert it in the WordPress location designed for code, and verify the live booking path on the devices your audience uses.
