You cannot add Minecraft Bedrock Edition to the CurseForge app at present. CurseForge’s supported Minecraft integration is for Java Edition; Bedrock is not listed as a supported game, edition, or modloader.
That means there is no working Settings → Add Game → Minecraft Bedrock path, Bedrock profile type, or Bedrock-specific Install and Play workflow in CurseForge.
Why Bedrock cannot be added to CurseForge
CurseForge’s Minecraft features are built around Java profiles and Java modloaders. The available choices include:
- Forge
- Fabric
- NeoForge
- Quilt
- Vanilla Java
Vanilla does not mean Bedrock. It means the standard Java game without a modloader.

The current CurseForge app support list names Minecraft Java Edition, not Minecraft Bedrock Edition. This applies to the Windows Overwolf and Standalone apps. CurseForge’s Linux documentation also says that the app currently supports Minecraft: Java Edition and World of Warcraft.
What the “Add Game” option actually does
If CurseForge does not detect a supported game, you can open the game settings and choose:
- Open CurseForge.
- Open Settings.
- Click the + button.
- Choose Manually add a game, or choose Scan computer for games.
Manual addition only lets you point CurseForge to the installation folder of a game it supports. It does not convert an unsupported game into a supported one. Selecting a Bedrock folder therefore will not create a usable Bedrock profile or make Bedrock add-ons install through CurseForge.
If Bedrock does not appear in the game list, that is expected. It is not normally a detection problem that can be fixed by selecting another folder or running the scan again.
What CurseForge supports for Minecraft Java
For a supported Java installation, the setup flow is different:

- Open the Minecraft section in CurseForge.
- Choose Discover or Browse.
- Use the dropdown to select Modpacks, or browse individual mods.
- Choose a compatible Minecraft version and modloader.
- Select the modpack or mod and click Install.
For a modpack, the installed pack appears under My Modpacks. For an individual mod, CurseForge lets you choose Create a new profile or Select a profile.
Java profiles use filters labelled All Game Version and All Mod Loaders. CurseForge checks the selected Minecraft version and modloader when creating a profile. If a file does not match the profile, the app can mark it incompatible and show the reason through the question-mark tooltip.

How to use Bedrock add-ons instead
Bedrock add-ons need to be obtained from a source that specifically supports Minecraft Bedrock and then imported using Bedrock’s own file associations or world/resource-pack menus. Depending on the file type, this may involve opening a .mcpack or .mcaddon file with Minecraft, or copying the files into the appropriate Bedrock folders and enabling them in a world.
Do not assume that a Java mod, Java modpack, or Forge/Fabric file can work in Bedrock. The two editions use different modding systems and file formats. A Java mod generally cannot be installed as a Bedrock add-on.
If your goal is to use CurseForge mods
Install or select Minecraft Java Edition in CurseForge instead. During setup, CurseForge creates its own modding environment and dedicated game installation; Minecraft does not have to be installed in advance for this setup.

Common errors after trying to set it up
Bedrock is missing from the game list
This is expected because Bedrock is not currently a supported CurseForge app game. Scanning the computer or manually selecting its folder will not change that.
A Java mod is incompatible
Check both the Minecraft version and modloader. A Forge file may not work in a Fabric profile, and a file made for one Minecraft version may not work with another. Create a compatible profile or select a matching existing one.
A Java profile will not launch
Conflicting mods and incompatibilities between installed mods and the selected modloader are common causes. Remove or update the conflicting file, then test the profile again.

CurseForge reports launcher or unzip errors
Open the app’s right-side menu and choose Repair Installation. This is the documented first repair step for errors such as “Failed to install Minecraft launcher,” “Error Code 0,” launcher-core errors, and unzip errors.
CurseForge cannot create Minecraft directories
This can indicate insufficient read/write permission for the selected user folder. During setup, choose Advanced and try a folder such as:
C:CurseForgeThe button says “Play Demo”
This usually indicates a Minecraft account-login issue. Sign out and sign back in with the Microsoft account that owns the required Minecraft license.

Can I add Bedrock Edition to CurseForge manually?
No. CurseForge has a “Manually add a game” option, but it only adds supported games. Selecting a Bedrock installation directory does not create a Bedrock profile or enable Bedrock add-ons.

Does CurseForge support Minecraft Bedrock on Windows?
The current CurseForge app support documentation lists Minecraft Java Edition, not Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Bedrock therefore cannot currently be managed as a CurseForge Minecraft game on Windows.

Can I choose Vanilla in CurseForge to install Bedrock?
No. Vanilla is the unmodded version of Minecraft Java Edition. It is not another name for Bedrock Edition.
Can CurseForge launch Bedrock Edition?
No. The CurseForge launcher options belong to its Java modpack workflow. They do not launch or manage Minecraft Bedrock.
Can I install a Java CurseForge mod in Bedrock?
Usually not. Java mods use Java modloaders such as Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt. Bedrock uses a separate add-on system and different file formats.

There is no current support path documented for adding Bedrock. Check CurseForge’s current supported-games and Minecraft setup documentation for any future change.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Bedrock Edition cannot currently be added to the CurseForge app. Use CurseForge for Minecraft Java Edition profiles, mods, and modpacks. For Bedrock, use Bedrock-compatible add-ons and Minecraft’s own import and pack-management features instead.
