To add a Game Server Login Token (GSLT) to an Unturned server, create a token for Unturned’s Steam App ID 304930 at Steam’s game-server account page, then place that token in the server’s Login_Token setting under the Browser section (or use the GSLT command in Commands.dat or your startup command). Stop the server before editing, save the change, and start it again. A server without a GSLT is anonymous and hidden from the Internet server list.
What a GSLT does for an Unturned server
A GSLT is a Steam Game Server Login Token that associates an Unturned server with a Steam account that owns the game. The token is separate from your normal Steam password and is intended for server authentication. It should be treated as a secret: anyone who obtains it may be able to use it for server authentication or consume one of the account’s available server-account slots.

The documented consequence is that anonymous servers are hidden from the Internet server list. If players can connect only by direct address, or cannot find the server in the public browser, a missing or invalid token is one of the first settings to check.
Every server needs its own unique token. Do not paste one token into several unrelated servers, and do not publish the token in a screenshot, support post, startup log, or configuration repository.

Before you create a token
Check the Steam account
The Steam account used to create the token must satisfy Steam’s requirements. It must own Unturned, must not be banned or limited, and must have a qualifying registered phone number. If the account fails one of these checks, Steam may not let you create a game-server account or the resulting server may not authenticate as expected.
- Sign in to the Steam account that owns Unturned.
- Confirm that the account is not limited or banned.
- Confirm that a qualifying phone number is registered to the account.
- Use the same account’s management page later if you need to view the token again.
Plan one token per server
Steam allows an account to hold up to 1,000 GSLT keys. That limit is an account-wide ceiling, not a recommendation to reuse tokens. Create a separate key for each server instance so that you can identify, replace, or revoke a single server credential without confusing it with another installation.
Know which configuration method your installation uses
Unturned versions and hosting environments do not all expose the setting in the same place. A control panel may provide a field labelled “login token” or “GSLT.” A self-managed installation may read Login_Token from the Browser section of its server configuration, or accept the GSLT command through Commands.dat or the startup command. Older guides refer to Config.json; do not assume that filename is correct for your version. Check the files and labels actually supplied by your current server build or host.

Create the Unturned GSLT key
- Open steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers and sign in to Steam if prompted.
- Scroll to Create a new game server account.
- Enter
304930as the App ID. This is Unturned’s Steam App ID; entering a different game’s ID creates a token for the wrong application. - Enter a memo that identifies the intended server, such as
UnturnedServeror a name that distinguishes your production and test instances. The memo helps you recognize the key later; it is not the token itself. - Select Create.
- Copy the displayed Login Token immediately and store it in a password manager or another access-controlled location.
Use the account-management page if you need to view the token again. Keep the copied value exact: do not add quotation marks, spaces, or explanatory text when you paste it into the server setting.
Add the token through a hosting panel
Hosting panels differ, so the field name and menu location are provider-specific and are not uniform across Unturned installations. The reliable sequence is the same even when the interface wording changes.
- Open the panel for the correct Unturned server instance.
- Use the panel’s Stop or Shut down control and wait until the server is fully offline. Editing while the process is running can be overwritten when the process exits.
- Open the server configuration, startup settings, or network/browser settings supplied by the panel.
- Find the field labelled Login Token, GSLT, or an equivalent Steam game-server token field.
- Paste the token created for this specific server. Check that the entire value is present and that no leading or trailing whitespace was introduced.
- Save or apply the configuration.
- Start or restart the server and wait for it to finish loading.
If the panel has no token field, do not paste the key into an arbitrary password, Steam account, or administrator field. Use the panel’s file manager or command/startup configuration only when you can identify the setting as the Unturned GSLT/Login Token option. If the panel hides those files, ask the host which supported field maps to Login_Token.

Add the token on a self-managed server
Configuration-file method
Stop the Unturned process first, then open the server configuration used by your version. In the Browser section, add or change the Login_Token value to the token you created for this server. Preserve the existing file’s syntax and indentation; edit only the relevant value unless you know another change is required.
The exact configuration filename is version-dependent. Some older instructions call the file Config.json, but that name is not confirmed for every current Unturned installation. If you cannot find a Browser section or a Login_Token key, identify the configuration file generated by your server version rather than blindly creating a second file with a familiar name.
After saving, start the server using the same launcher or service that normally runs it. If the application rewrites the configuration on startup, stop it again, verify that the value remained in the Browser section, and then restart once more.

Commands.dat or startup-command method
Some installations accept the GSLT command in Commands.dat or as part of the server startup command. The precise command syntax can vary with the Unturned version and launch method, and the available material does not establish one universal spelling or argument format. Use the GSLT command shown by your version’s current server documentation or launcher, then supply the token as its value.

Verify that the token is being used
Verification should test both the configuration and the result players care about: visibility in the Internet server list.

- Confirm that the server was stopped before the change and restarted afterward.
- Reopen the effective configuration or panel field and check that the token value is still present under the Browser-related setting.
- Make sure the token was created with App ID
304930, not another Steam application ID. - Check the server’s normal startup output for an authentication or configuration error. Do not post the token itself when sharing logs.
- From an external Unturned client, refresh the Internet server list and search for the server. A correctly authenticated server should no longer be treated as anonymous and hidden from that list.
A successful local save does not prove that Steam accepted the key. The token must belong to an eligible Steam account, match Unturned’s App ID, be assigned to the intended server, and be loaded by the process that is actually running.

The server remains hidden from the Internet list
- Token was never loaded: Stop the process, confirm the setting is in the active Browser configuration, save, and restart. A panel may have separate files for different server instances.
- Wrong configuration file: Older guides may name
Config.json, while your version may use another file. Locate the file your current installation generates and edit that one. - Wrong App ID: Recreate or replace the key using
304930. - Token belongs to another server: Each server requires its own unique token. Check the memo and account-management page, then assign the key created for this instance.
- Account requirement failure: Verify ownership of Unturned, the registered qualifying phone number, and that the account is not limited or banned.
- Unchanged process: A running server may still have its old settings in memory. Perform a complete stop and start rather than only refreshing the panel page.
The panel does not show a GSLT field
Panel interfaces are not standardized. Look in startup parameters, server configuration, and Browser/network settings rather than assuming the field is under player passwords or administrator credentials. If the host does not expose any supported location, request the provider’s documented method for setting Unturned’s Login_Token; do not disclose the secret in a public ticket.
The token was exposed
Treat an exposed token as compromised. Remove it from public posts, screenshots, repositories, and shared logs, then use Steam’s game-server account management page to manage the affected key and issue a replacement as appropriate. Replace the value in the server configuration, save while the server is stopped, and restart. Because tokens are credentials, limit access to the people and systems that operate the server.
You cannot tell which token is active
Use distinctive memos when creating keys, maintain a private inventory of server name, instance, creation date, and assigned token, and keep one key assigned to one server. Never record the token in the memo itself or in a filename that may be publicly served. If several keys are indistinguishable, compare the account’s management list with the server inventory and assign a fresh, clearly labelled key to the intended instance.

Operational checklist
- The Steam account owns Unturned, has a qualifying registered phone number, and is not banned or limited.
- The token was created at Steam’s game-server account page with App ID
304930. - The memo identifies the intended server without containing the secret.
- The key is unique to this server and stored privately.
- The server was stopped before the configuration was changed.
Login_Tokenis under the Browser section, or the supported GSLT command was added toCommands.dator the startup command.- The change was saved and the server was restarted.
- The Internet server list was refreshed and the token was not exposed in any shared diagnostic output.
What is established about limits and filenames
The account limit is up to 1,000 GSLT keys. That is the documented maximum for one Steam account; it does not change the requirement for a unique key per server. The location of the setting is less uniform: the Browser section and the Login_Token name are established options, while the exact configuration filename depends on the Unturned version. Hosting-panel field names likewise vary by provider. When an interface or version differs from these labels, preserve the underlying requirement—supply the server’s GSLT as its Login Token through the method that installation supports—rather than copying an outdated path.
The Bottom Line
Create the key with App ID 304930, assign a unique token to the server’s Browser Login_Token setting (or supported GSLT command), and always stop, save, and restart before checking the Internet list.
