To activate Mint Mobile on a Samsung Galaxy, first verify that the exact Galaxy model supports eSIM and is unlocked for Mint. New customers can install the eSIM from the Mint Mobile app or an activation QR code sent by email. Existing Mint customers moving service or replacing an eSIM must use the account transfer flow instead of treating the move like a new activation.
Keep the old carrier active until a number transfer and Mint activation are complete. Galaxy menu names differ by model, Android release, region and carrier variant, so use the Mint app’s instructions and treat any Samsung Settings labels as device-dependent.
What you need before activating
An eSIM is a programmable SIM built into the phone. Mint sends an activation profile to that embedded SIM rather than mailing a removable card. The process only works when the phone, account and number-transfer conditions are ready.

Confirm the exact Galaxy model supports Mint eSIM
“Samsung Galaxy” is not a compatibility guarantee. eSIM support differs among model numbers, regional editions and carrier variants. Use Mint’s compatibility checker with the phone’s exact model, not just a family name such as Galaxy S or Galaxy Z. Mint’s setup guidance says recent Galaxy phones may support eSIM, but it does not establish support for every model or variant.

Also check whether the phone can use Mint’s network in its intended region. A model that has eSIM hardware may still be excluded by its firmware or market variant. If the checker does not recognize the exact device, stop before buying or installing an eSIM and ask Mint or the phone’s current carrier to verify eligibility.
Make sure the phone is unlocked
A carrier-locked Galaxy can reject a Mint eSIM even when the hardware supports eSIM. Check the phone’s unlock status with the carrier that sold or financed it. If that carrier must complete an unlock request, finish it before attempting Mint activation; changing eSIM settings cannot bypass a network lock.
Prepare connectivity and account access
- Have a reliable internet connection available. Mint’s replacement workflow specifically requires Wi-Fi, and a stable connection also prevents an interrupted profile download.
- Have access to the email address used at checkout. Mint sends the activation information there.
- Keep the Galaxy charged. If you are moving service between phones, charge both devices.
- For a number port, collect the previous carrier’s billing ZIP code, account number and number-transfer PIN (or the equivalent PIN that carrier uses).
- Do not erase an old eSIM or cancel the previous carrier while the transfer is still pending.
New Mint customer: activate with the app or QR code
The following process is for a new Mint line or a new Mint order. It is different from replacing an eSIM on an existing Mint account.

1. Select eSIM delivery at checkout
After confirming compatibility and unlock status, choose a Mint plan and select eSIM Delivery at checkout. Do not rely on an old price, promotion or plan screenshot; offers and prices can change. The important choice for this procedure is delivery by eSIM rather than a physical SIM.
2. Start a number port if you are keeping your number
During activation, provide the previous carrier information Mint requests. The billing ZIP code, account number and transfer PIN must match that carrier’s records. A mismatch can delay or reject the port.

Let the number transfer finish before installing the eSIM when Mint’s instructions tell you to do so. Keep the old service active until Mint activation is complete. Cancelling early can leave the number in a pending or failed transfer state and may make recovery harder.
3. Locate the activation email
Mint sends the activation information to the email address entered at checkout. Search that mailbox for Mint Mobile, activation code or order confirmation. If you do not see it, check Spam or Junk and the Promotions or Updates tabs used by your email provider.
Use the purchase email account, not an alternate address you may have added later to the phone. Do not forward the message publicly: the QR code and activation values are credentials for your line.
4. Install through the Mint Mobile app
- Connect the Galaxy to the internet and install the official Mint Mobile app.
- Open the app and sign in or continue with the account created during checkout.
- Choose the activation or setup flow shown for your order, then follow each on-screen instruction.
- When Android asks to download or add a mobile plan, approve the eSIM installation and wait for the profile download to finish.
- Allow the app to complete activation before closing it or switching networks.
Mint describes this as a general app-based flow. It does not publish one universal Samsung Settings path for every Galaxy model, Android release or carrier edition. If the app opens Settings, follow the labels displayed on that particular phone rather than searching for a menu name from another Galaxy guide.
5. Install by scanning the emailed QR code
- Open the activation email on a second screen, such as a computer or another phone, so the Galaxy camera can read the entire QR code.
- Use the Mint instructions or the Galaxy eSIM-add screen that your model presents.
- Scan the code and accept the prompt to download the mobile plan.
- Wait for the profile to install, then continue through Mint’s activation screens.
The QR method and app method deliver the same type of eSIM profile. The app is usually easier when the order is already associated with your Mint account; the QR method is useful when the email is available but the app does not start the installation automatically.

6. Finish setup and test the line
Complete every activation prompt, then verify that the Mint line appears in the phone’s mobile-network controls. Place a test call, send a text message and open a webpage with Wi-Fi temporarily disabled if you want to confirm cellular data. If you ported a number, confirm that incoming calls and texts reach the transferred number before cancelling the previous service.

A replacement eSIM is an account operation, not a new-customer QR installation. Use this route when the current profile was deleted, damaged, or needs to be reissued while you remain with Mint.
- Connect the Galaxy to Wi-Fi.
- Open the Mint Mobile app and sign in.
- Go to Account and then SIM Card.
- Choose the replacement option shown by the app.
- Complete the requested account verification, which may use SMS.
- Continue through eSIM installation. Mint may offer QR scanning or manual entry as the installation method.
Replacement availability, limits and any charge can change, so rely on the terms displayed in your account rather than an older support article or screenshot. If the verification text cannot arrive because the old profile is already inactive, use Mint’s account-support channel instead of repeatedly requesting codes.
Move an existing Mint line to a new Galaxy
When the destination phone changes, Mint provides a device-change flow. Install the Mint app on the new Galaxy and sign in with the existing account.
- On the new phone, open the Mint app.
- Select Account, then Change device, then Get an eSIM.
- Complete the SMS verification requested by Mint.
- Install the replacement eSIM on the new Galaxy and wait for the process to finish.
- Test calls, texts and cellular data on the new phone.
Do not delete the old phone’s eSIM until the transfer is complete. Keeping it intact gives you a working line while verification and installation are in progress. Once the new phone is confirmed working, you can remove the old profile before recycling or giving away the previous device.

Should you use Android eSIM Quick Transfer?
Mint also documents Android eSIM Quick Transfer for supported devices. It is an Android-to-Android move, not a universal Samsung feature. Both the source and destination phones must meet the eligibility requirements, and the exact prompts and Settings labels vary by model.
Requirements
- Both phones should be charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
- The destination phone must support eSIM.
- Number Lock must be turned off for the transfer.
- The phones must be eligible Android models; not every Galaxy supports Quick Transfer.
When Quick Transfer is the better route
Use it when Mint and both particular phones present the feature and you want a direct phone-to-phone move. If the option is missing, do not infer that the eSIM is defective. Use Mint’s Account → Change device → Get an eSIM process instead. Quick Transfer cannot be used to move a line from an iPhone to Android because Mint’s documented feature is Android-to-Android.
Choose the correct activation method

Troubleshoot common Mint eSIM problems
The activation email never arrived
- Check the exact email account used during checkout.
- Search for “Mint Mobile,” “activation code” and “order confirmation.”
- Review Spam, Junk, Promotions and Updates folders.
- Confirm that the order completed and that the address was typed correctly.
Do not create a second order merely because the first message is delayed; verify the order status with Mint first.
The QR code will not scan
Display the code sharply and at a size that lets the camera see all corners. Increase screen brightness, remove glare and clean the camera lens. If the code is on the same Galaxy, display it on another screen instead of trying to scan a screenshot from the phone’s own display.

Type those values exactly, including punctuation and capitalization, and never publish or send them to someone who does not need access to the line.

Activation is blocked or the plan will not download
Recheck the three most common prerequisites: the exact model is supported, the phone is unlocked, and any requested number transfer has completed. A Galaxy can show an eSIM menu and still fail Mint activation if its regional variant is unsupported or its carrier lock remains active.
Return to a reliable Wi-Fi connection and restart the phone once. If Mint’s app still refuses the installation, avoid deleting profiles or resetting network settings at random; those actions can remove a working line without fixing eligibility. Contact Mint with the order or account details and the exact error text.
The number transfer is pending
Keep the previous carrier active and verify that its account number, billing ZIP code and transfer PIN were entered correctly. Do not install a replacement profile repeatedly while a port is unresolved. Correct the port information through Mint first, then continue the eSIM steps after the transfer is marked complete.
The old phone stopped working during a move
If you deleted the old eSIM before the new phone was ready, use Mint’s replacement or device-change flow over Wi-Fi. SMS verification may be required, so be prepared to complete account verification through Mint support if the verification message cannot reach the inactive line.
If your Galaxy cannot use Mint eSIM
An unsupported or locked phone cannot be made compatible by scanning a different QR code. Confirm the model and unlock status again. If the phone is compatible with Mint but lacks eSIM support, select a physical-SIM activation option when Mint offers one for your line. A physical SIM does not remove the need for an unlocked, network-compatible phone.
If the phone is locked, request an unlock from the current carrier and wait for confirmation before ordering or installing Mint service. For a replacement device, choose an unlocked Galaxy whose exact model appears as compatible in Mint’s checker.
Protect the eSIM credentials
The QR code, SM-DP+ address and activation code identify the eSIM download. Treat them like account credentials: do not post screenshots, leave the email open on a shared computer, or enter the values into an untrusted website. If you suspect that someone copied the details, contact Mint before attempting another installation so the carrier can determine whether a replacement profile is required.

The decisive checks remain exact-model compatibility, an unlocked phone, a completed port when applicable, and the correct Mint account flow for a new line or an existing one.
