To see a tab that is open on another device, use the same browser and account on both devices, turn on that browser’s open-tab sync option, and open its synced-tabs view. Firefox synchronizes tabs through a Mozilla account, Safari through iCloud and the same Apple Account, and Edge through a signed-in Microsoft account. These systems work within their own browser ecosystems: a Firefox tab will not appear in Safari or Edge merely because the devices share an owner or operating system.
The steps below cover current desktop, iPhone, iPad and Mac workflows documented by Mozilla, Apple and Microsoft. Menu names can change with browser and operating-system updates, so a recently redesigned screen may use slightly different wording.
What must be true before another device can show your tabs
Open-tab syncing is an account feature, not a local network feature. Both devices must be using the same browser, signed in to the same account, and configured to synchronize the category that contains open tabs. A device can be online and still show no remote tabs if the account differs or the open-tabs category is disabled.
- Use the same browser family: Firefox syncs Firefox tabs, Safari syncs Safari tabs, and Edge syncs Edge tabs.
- Sign in everywhere: use one Mozilla account, Apple Account or Microsoft account on every endpoint you want connected.
- Enable the correct data type: the setting may be called Open tabs (Firefox and Edge) or Safari/iCloud Tabs (Apple devices).
- Allow synchronization to complete: newly opened tabs may not appear instantly. Reopen or refresh the synced-tabs screen after checking the settings.
Set up both the device that owns the tab and the device that will display it. Enabling sync only on the viewing device cannot upload a tab from a source device that is signed out or has the category disabled. Likewise, signing in with the same email address in two different browser families does not create a shared list.

No computer, phone, accessory or physical media is required. The feature is built into the browsers and their account-sync services.
Firefox: view tabs from another Firefox device
Mozilla describes Firefox Sync as a way to access open tabs across desktop, laptop and mobile devices that use Firefox. Set up Firefox Sync on every device first, then select Open tabs as one of the data types to synchronize.
Turn on Firefox open-tab sync
- Open Firefox on the first device and sign in to your Mozilla account.
- Repeat the sign-in on every computer or mobile device whose tabs you want to share.
- Open Firefox Sync settings and make sure Open tabs is selected. Other sync categories, such as bookmarks or history, do not substitute for this setting.
- Leave Firefox connected long enough for the account state to update, then check the second device.
Check the account identity and the selected data types on both ends. A device can remain signed in while an individual category has been turned off. If you use several Firefox profiles, verify that the profile containing the tabs is the one connected to the Mozilla account.

The exact settings layout can vary by platform, but the account menu and Sync settings are the places to verify the account and selected data types.
Open synced tabs on Firefox desktop
Firefox offers several entry points for the same list. Use whichever is visible in your installation:
- Open the Firefox account menu and choose the option for tabs from other devices.
- Open the Sidebar and select the laptop-and-phone button.
- Open Firefox View from the Tools menu or the List all tabs icon, then choose Tabs from other devices.
Select a listed tab to open it in the current Firefox window. The list identifies the device that supplied the tab, which helps when several computers or phones are signed in. If you are looking for one particular page, use that device label to distinguish similarly named tabs from different machines.
Open synced tabs in Firefox for iOS
- Open Firefox on the iPhone or iPad and tap the numbered tab icon.
- Tap Sync at the bottom of the tab screen. Mozilla also documents swiping right to reach this view.
- Tap a tab in the list to open it on the current device.
If the list looks old or empty, tap Sync Now. Then confirm that Firefox for iOS is signed in to the intended Mozilla account and that Open tabs remains enabled in Sync settings. Sync Now is especially useful after you have just opened a tab on another computer and the mobile list has not updated.
Close a Firefox tab on its source device
Mozilla documents a close action in the synced-tab list. On desktop and iOS, use the close control associated with the remote tab when you want to remove it from the device where it is open. This is different from merely closing the copy you opened locally: check the device label and action before confirming. If you only want to stop viewing the page on the current device, close the local tab instead.

Safari: use iCloud Tabs between iPhone, iPad and Mac
Safari uses iCloud rather than a separate browser account. Sign in to the same Apple Account on every device, enable Safari in iCloud on each one, and make sure the iCloud Tabs section is available on Safari’s Start Page. Safari’s open tabs and Tab Groups are maintained as Safari data across iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Prepare iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings > [your name] > iCloud > See All.
- Turn on Safari.
- Confirm that the device is signed in to the same Apple Account used on the other iPhone, iPad or Mac.
- Open Safari, display the tab view, start a new tab, and scroll down to the tabs open on other devices.
If the remote list is not visible, edit Safari’s Start Page and ensure iCloud Tabs is turned on. The iPhone user guide also states that viewing Mac tabs from an iPhone requires Safari enabled in iCloud on the Mac and two-factor authentication on the Apple Account. That Mac-side setting is easy to miss because the phone can otherwise appear correctly signed in.
To distinguish devices, look at the device headings in the iCloud Tabs area. Open the page by tapping its entry; this creates a local Safari view while the source tab remains available on its original device unless you explicitly close it.
Prepare a Mac and find its remote tabs
- Sign in to the same Apple Account on the Mac.
- Enable Safari in iCloud in macOS System Settings.
- Open Safari and show the Start Page. Apple documents the menu path Bookmarks > Show Start Page.
- Scroll to the iCloud Tabs area to see Safari tabs currently open on the other connected devices.
If Safari opens to a different page or a saved tab group, return to the Start Page to expose the iCloud Tabs section. A missing section usually means either iCloud Safari is disabled or the Start Page’s iCloud Tabs option is hidden.
Apple describes open tabs and Tab Groups as Safari data kept up to date across iPhone, iPad and Mac. A tab opened on one of those devices therefore appears in the iCloud Tabs area of the others after synchronization.
Open or close an iCloud tab
On iPhone and iPad, tap a listed iCloud tab to open it. Apple also documents closing an iCloud tab from the iPhone or iPad tab view. Use that control only when you intend to close the tab on its source device; opening a tab on the current device does not itself close the original. Treat a close gesture as a cross-device action, not as a way to remove only the local copy.
Microsoft Edge: enable open-tab sync
Edge includes open tabs among its syncable data types. Microsoft’s support instructions establish the account and synchronization settings, but the reviewed guidance does not give a single, universal gesture for displaying a remote-tab list on every desktop and mobile version. Set up synchronization first, then use the synced-tabs area presented by your installed Edge release.
Set up Edge on a computer
- Open Edge and select the profile icon.
- Choose Sign in to sync data and sign in with the account you use on the other Edge devices.
- Open Settings > Profiles > Sync.
- Make sure the Open tabs category is enabled.
- Repeat these checks on each computer or mobile device that should contribute tabs.
Signing in alone is not enough if the open-tabs category has been switched off for the profile. The Sync page is the authoritative place to verify that toggle. If more than one Edge profile is present, perform the check in the profile that owns the tabs.

Set up Edge on a phone or tablet
- Open the Edge app and tap the profile image.
- Choose Accounts and sign in to the same account used on the other devices.
- Open Settings > profile image > Sync settings > Sync.
- Confirm that open-tab synchronization is enabled.
After synchronization is active, look for the tabs-from-other-devices view in the current Edge build. Microsoft’s cited instructions confirm the sync setting and the inclusion of open tabs, but they do not establish one cross-platform navigation path or promise a remote-close control. Do not assume that an Edge control for closing another device’s tab exists unless your version explicitly presents it. If no tab list appears, return to the profile’s Sync page rather than treating a generic history screen as the synced-tab view.

The practical difference is where each browser exposes the feature: Firefox names a dedicated synced-tabs view, Safari places iCloud Tabs on the Start Page, and Edge’s available display can vary by release. The account and category checks are the same idea in all three cases.
Troubleshoot an empty or outdated tab list
Work through these checks in order. Changing several settings at once makes it harder to identify the cause.

Open the browser’s account or profile screen on both devices and compare the signed-in account. A second Mozilla account, Apple Account or Microsoft account can look similar while producing a completely separate tab list. On shared computers, also check which browser profile is active.
2. Confirm the browser matches
Firefox tabs appear in Firefox, Safari tabs in Safari, and Edge tabs in Edge. Cross-browser tab discovery is not provided by these sync services. If a page was opened in a different browser, open that browser’s own account and sync settings instead of looking for it in another app.
3. Confirm the feature is enabled at both ends
- Firefox: Sync is on and Open tabs is selected.
- Safari: Safari is enabled in iCloud on each device, and iCloud Tabs is visible on the Start Page.
- Edge: the profile’s Open tabs sync category is enabled on each device.
Checking only the device where you are trying to view tabs can miss a disabled setting on the source device.
4. Refresh the browser’s synced view
Reopen the tab list after the settings are correct. In Firefox for iOS, tap Sync Now specifically. In Safari, return to a new tab and scroll to the iCloud Tabs section again. Edge’s exact refresh behavior depends on the installed version, so close and reopen the relevant synced-tabs view rather than relying on an old screen.

For Safari, verify iCloud on the Mac as well as on the iPhone or iPad. If an iPhone is expected to show Mac tabs, confirm the two-factor-authentication requirement Apple states in its iPhone guide. For Firefox, revisit the Mozilla account sign-in and Open tabs selection if iOS remains empty.

6. Allow for a changed interface
Browser and operating-system releases can rename menus or move account controls. The underlying checks remain the same: same account, same browser, open-tab sync enabled, and a refreshed synced-tabs view. The Mozilla support page describing Firefox’s feature was last updated August 24, 2026; Apple’s cited material includes an iOS 27 user guide. Treat menu labels as release-dependent rather than permanent guarantees.

They are not cross-browser sharing
Using the same email address or owning the same devices does not merge browser sessions. A tab open in Firefox is not automatically listed by Safari, and an Edge account does not import Safari’s iCloud Tabs.
They show browser tabs, not every app or private activity
The documented features concern open tabs in the named browser. They do not promise access to tabs in a different browser or to unrelated apps. Whether a particular private-browsing session is synchronized is not established by the cited setup guidance, so do not rely on sync as a record of every browsing window.

Mozilla documents opening and closing a tab from another device, and Apple documents opening and closing an iCloud tab from iPhone or iPad. The Microsoft material confirms Edge open-tab synchronization but does not establish remote closing. Treat an Edge tab as viewable unless your current version explicitly offers additional controls.

Can I see Firefox tabs in Safari?
No. Each service syncs tabs within its own browser family. Use Firefox on the viewing device and sign in to the same Mozilla account, or open the page in Safari separately.
Why do I see bookmarks but not open tabs?
Bookmarks and open tabs are separate sync categories. Return to the browser’s Sync settings and enable Open tabs for Firefox or Edge. In Safari, enable Safari in iCloud and show iCloud Tabs on the Start Page.
Do both devices need to be signed in?
Yes. The source device must upload its tabs through the account, and the destination device must use that same account to retrieve them.

What if a tab appeared earlier but disappeared?
Check that the source device is still using the same account and that open-tab sync remains enabled. Refresh the destination view; on Firefox for iOS use Sync Now. In Safari, return to the Start Page’s iCloud Tabs area.
A quick setup checklist
- Choose the browser whose tabs you need to share.
- Sign in to the same browser account on both devices.
- Enable Firefox Open tabs, Safari in iCloud plus iCloud Tabs, or Edge Open tabs.
- Open the browser’s synced-tabs location.
- Refresh the list if the tab is missing.
- If it remains empty, recheck the account, source-device setting and any platform-specific requirement.
