To enter the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Early Access, preorder or prepurchase any digital edition on the platform where you will play. Activision currently lists Tuesday, October 20, 2026 (Pacific Time) as the start date. Buy through the platform’s official store, verify that the offer is live in your country, install through the official launcher, and use an eligible Activision account. A physical preorder is not identified as qualifying, and the older Modern Warfare II DMZ Beta is a separate product.
What qualifies for the new DMZ early access
Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 Editions page says that a preorder or prepurchase of any digital edition qualifies for DMZ Early Access. The offer applies to the platform on which the purchase is made and where you intend to play. It is not a separate DMZ-only purchase described by the current terms.
Digital edition requirement
- Qualifying route: any digital edition of Modern Warfare 4 purchased in advance through a supported platform store or an authorized retailer covered by the current offer.
- Not established as qualifying: the editions page specifies digital purchases and does not say that a physical-disc preorder grants the early-access window. Do not assume a boxed preorder is eligible.
- One account, one destination: purchase on the platform account you will actually use. A purchase on one platform should not be treated as an entitlement on another unless Activision’s live terms explicitly say so.
Start date and timing
Activision lists DMZ Early Access for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Pacific Time. The exact local launch hour can vary with time zone or a revised schedule, so check the editions page and the in-game or platform announcement near launch. The full game release date referenced in the edition terms is October 23, 2026. Windows Central also reported the October 20 schedule, but Activision’s page remains the controlling source: Windows Central’s report.

Check these conditions before spending money
Use this checklist before selecting Buy, Preorder, or Prepurchase. It prevents the most common mistakes: buying the wrong listing, using an unsupported territory, or expecting access on a different account.

- Open the current official terms. Start at Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 Editions page and confirm that the digital-edition DMZ offer and October 20 date have not changed.
- Choose the intended platform. Decide whether you will play on PlayStation, Xbox, PC through Battle.net or Steam, or another platform listed by the current offer. Your purchase, installation, and account login should all line up with that choice.
- Confirm regional availability. Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 Beta FAQ warns that availability can vary by territory and retailer. Open the local storefront, check the product page, currency, age rating, and preorder language, and do not rely on a listing from a different country.
- Check the account you will use. Sign in to the platform account linked to your Activision ID. Activision’s edition terms warn that Activision IDs permanently banned from certain previous Call of Duty titles may not be eligible to play Modern Warfare 4: account eligibility terms.
- Keep proof of purchase. Save the order confirmation and transaction ID. If the entitlement does not appear, support can use the platform account and order details to locate the purchase.
Buy through a safe, official route
Activision’s beta FAQ names Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Battle.net, Steam Store, Nintendo eShop, and most retailers as preorder channels. The new DMZ listing should be checked in the storefront you actually use rather than assumed from an old beta page.

Do not buy access codes from an unofficial download site, accept a shared account, or install a file described as an “early build.” Activision’s instructions point players to official stores and launchers; they do not establish an alternative legitimate installer channel. A code seller can also sell a region-locked, already-redeemed, or unauthorized key that the platform will not honor.
Install DMZ from the official launcher
Activision’s published beta procedure is the best general platform pattern while the DMZ-specific listing is being finalized. The names of buttons can change, so follow the live product page if it differs.

- Open the store or launcher used for the purchase. On console, open the platform store and go to your library or the Modern Warfare 4 product page. On PC, open Battle.net or Steam, sign in to the account that owns the game, and search for the official Modern Warfare 4 entry.
- Locate the DMZ or Early Access entitlement. Select the listing linked from the official product page. Check the publisher, game title, edition, platform, and region before downloading. Do not select the older Modern Warfare II DMZ Beta by mistake.
- Select Install or Download. Use the store’s own download button. If the game uses a shared Call of Duty application, the launcher may offer a content-management screen where DMZ is selected as an install component; use only options presented by the official application.
- Allow updates to finish. Early-access files can receive a day-one patch or a schedule change. Keep free storage available and leave the platform connected to the internet long enough for verification to complete.
- Launch after the access window opens. Starting the application before October 20 does not bypass the time gate. If the store shows a countdown, use it as the local reference, while still checking Activision for a revised schedule.
- Sign in with the linked Activision ID. Complete the account-linking prompt rather than switching to a borrowed platform profile. The ID must be eligible and free of a disqualifying permanent ban.
If the listing is missing
First close and reopen the store or launcher, then sign out and back in to the purchasing account. Check the order history and the edition page. A missing tile can mean the offer has not been published in your region yet, the wrong platform account is active, or the listing is hidden inside the main Modern Warfare 4 product rather than shown as a separate game. Do not download a third-party installer while investigating.
PC safety and security requirements
Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 early-intel and PC guidance tells PC players to enable TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for the beta and explains that these protections support RICOCHET Anti-Cheat. The separate DMZ Early Access page should be checked for any changed or additional requirement before launch.
Check TPM 2.0 in Windows
- Press
Win+R, entertpm.msc, and press Enter. - In the TPM Management window, look for a message that the TPM is ready for use and verify that the specification version is 2.0.
- If Windows reports that no compatible TPM is found, check the motherboard or system manufacturer’s firmware instructions. Do not change firmware settings blindly; record existing settings and use the manufacturer’s documentation.
Check Secure Boot
- Press
Win+R, entermsinfo32, and press Enter. - In System Information, find Secure Boot State. A value of On indicates that Windows currently sees it enabled.
- If it is Off, review the manufacturer’s UEFI instructions and confirm that the system is using UEFI mode before changing settings. Enabling firmware security can affect an older installation configured for legacy BIOS mode.
These checks are preparation, not a guarantee that a particular PC meets every final requirement. Activision says other security measures may be enforced, and the current DMZ instructions take priority over the earlier beta guidance. Update Windows, the GPU driver, and the official launcher from their normal update channels rather than downloading “anti-cheat fixes” from a forum or file host.

Keep the account and launcher consistent
Purchase on the Battle.net or Steam account that will launch the game, and complete the official Activision account link when prompted. Switching launchers, family accounts, or regions after purchase can make an entitlement appear absent even though the transaction succeeded on another account.
Console and territory checks
PlayStation and Xbox
Use the console store associated with the profile that will play. Open the game page, inspect the edition name, and look for the DMZ Early Access language before confirming the preorder. If the console offers a separate beta tile, compare its title and publisher details with the current Modern Warfare 4 page; an older tile is not proof of eligibility.
Xbox Series X|S is among the supported platforms identified in Activision’s beta guidance. Owning a supported platform is the requirement; buying extra hardware is not necessary when you already have a compatible console or PC.

Regional storefront differences
Prices, currencies, ratings, release timing, and preorder availability can differ by country. A store page visible through a VPN or a different account region is not a safe basis for eligibility. Use the country attached to your platform account, and confirm that the checkout page identifies the same territory. If the local page omits the DMZ offer, contact platform or Activision support before purchasing rather than assuming the entitlement will be added later.

The new DMZ Early Access is tied to Modern Warfare 4. The older Modern Warfare II DMZ Beta has a separate support article, separate installation flow, and a separate Steam listing. Activision’s Modern Warfare II installation guide documents the legacy route, while Steam lists Modern Warfare II – DMZ Beta as its own item and says the base game is required.

That legacy listing may appear in search results because it contains “DMZ Beta” in the title. It does not establish access to the October 20, 2026 Modern Warfare 4 window. Always match the game subtitle and edition to the current Activision terms.

Troubleshoot common access problems
The store says you own the game but DMZ is locked
- Confirm that the purchase is a digital Modern Warfare 4 edition, not a physical preorder or a different Call of Duty title.
- Check that you are signed into the platform account that placed the order.
- Refresh the license or ownership information using the platform’s normal account or library command, then restart the official launcher.
- Verify the scheduled Pacific-Time start has arrived in your region; ownership does not open a mode before the access window.
The download points to the wrong DMZ
- Read the full title: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Early Access is distinct from Modern Warfare II DMZ Beta.
- Return to Activision’s current editions page and follow the link or instructions for the new product.
- Remove an accidental legacy download only after confirming which files your platform needs; do not delete the purchased game while troubleshooting an entitlement.
PC reports a security or anti-cheat failure
- Recheck TPM 2.0 with
tpm.mscand Secure Boot State withmsinfo32. - Install launcher, Windows, and driver updates from their official update mechanisms.
- Undo unofficial system tweaks, unsigned overlays, or modified game files, then run the launcher’s own file-repair or verify function.
- If the current DMZ page adds a requirement beyond the beta guidance, follow that newer requirement instead of relying on an older checklist.
The account is blocked
A permanent Activision ban can make an ID ineligible for Modern Warfare 4 under the edition terms. Do not attempt to evade a ban with a borrowed account or a purchased account; that can create additional ownership and security problems. Use Activision’s official account-support process to determine whether an appeal or clarification is available.
The offer is unavailable in your country
Capture the local store page and order status, then contact the platform or Activision support channel. Territory and retailer variation are explicitly possible in the beta FAQ, so a page from another region cannot establish that your local account qualifies.
Launch-day safety checklist
- Re-read the current edition terms for any date or eligibility change.
- Confirm the order is a digital Modern Warfare 4 edition on the intended platform.
- Verify the local storefront shows the product and DMZ entitlement.
- Keep the order confirmation and platform transaction ID.
- Install only from the official store, Battle.net, Steam, or the platform launcher associated with the purchase.
- On PC, check TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, updates, storage, and the latest DMZ-specific requirements.
- Use the purchasing platform account and its linked Activision ID.
- Wait for the October 20 Pacific-Time window rather than trusting an unofficial countdown.
- Ignore shared-account offers, “leaked build” files, key resellers that are not covered by the official terms, and requests for your Activision credentials.

The safe, currently documented path is straightforward: buy any qualifying digital Modern Warfare 4 edition through the official store for your supported platform, verify the offer and territory, install through the official launcher, and sign in with an eligible Activision account.
