The TRIBIT StormBox Micro 3 is a compact, mountable Bluetooth speaker with a claimed 24-hour battery life, IP68 dust and water protection, and USB-C reverse charging. Independent reviews praise its bass and sound scale for its size, though one notes occasional hardness in the upper frequencies. At TRIBIT’s listed price of $64.99 USD, it looks most useful for rides, hikes, and travel where mounting options matter; its battery claim depends on listening at 50% volume with default EQ.
What does the StormBox Micro 3 offer?
TRIBIT lists the StormBox Micro 3 at $64.99 USD on its product page, accessed October 7, 2026; prices can change. The manufacturer describes it as a portable speaker designed for outdoor use. Its compact footprint and mounting options are central to the appeal, while its specifications include:
- Output: 13 W, with a 48 mm NdFeB driver.
- Battery: 4,800 mAh.
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 6.0, AAC and SBC codec support, and a stated maximum range of 45 m.
- Size and weight: 4.41 × 4.25 × 1.77 inches and 0.73 lb.
- Charging: USB-C input up to 5 V/3 A, and USB-C charge-out at 5 V/1 A.
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The official launch article, dated April 23, 2026, also lists hands-free calling and a nine-band app EQ.
How does it sound?
Reviews generally find the sound unusually full for a speaker this small. What Hi-Fi? describes bass with depth and grip alongside decent detail, but notes that upper frequencies can sound hard at times. Tom’s Guide also describes the sound as big for the size and says the BassX setting is useful. TechRadar reports that the Micro 3 sounds louder and meatier than its 10 W predecessor; that is the publication’s comparison, not a standardized measurement.
#1 Best Overall
- SURPRISINGLY POWERFUL SOUND: SoundLink Micro’s crisp sound and impressive bass allows you to use this mini wireless speaker to break through any silence and form an in-the-moment connection.
- ULTRA-PORTABLE SIZE: The SoundLink Micro Speaker is designed to be ultra portable. A pocketable size and an improved utility strap mean you can attach the small Bluetooth speaker to a bag, slip it in a pocket, or play it from the palm of your hand.
- DURABLE DESIGN: A rugged, tiny-but-tough design means the SoundLink Micro Portable Speaker (2nd Gen) is built to bounce back. It’s dust and waterproof (rated IP67) and shock and rust resistant — so this small waterproof speaker can play rain or shine.
- UP TO 12 HOURS OF EXTENDED BATTERY: With double the battery life of the original SoundLink Micro, you can keep the connection going for up to 12 hours of your day.
- ADVANCED BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY: With an extended range of up to 30 feet and increased bandwidth, Bluetooth now brings you better connectivity over previous versions.
Taken together, the listening reports suggest a bass-forward, energetic presentation that can work well outdoors, with a possible treble edge that listeners sensitive to brighter sound may notice. These are reviewers’ listening judgments, not claims of a single objectively correct sound profile.
How long does the battery last, and can it charge a phone?
TRIBIT claims up to 24 hours of playtime with default EQ at 50% volume and an approximately two-hour charge time. Tom’s Guide also reports the 24-hour rating and cautions that louder outdoor listening drains the battery faster. Treat 24 hours as a conditional manufacturer rating, not an expectation at every volume or EQ setting.

The USB-C port can also provide charge-out at 5 V/1 A, so the speaker can supply power to another device away from an outlet. Using reverse charging draws on the speaker’s own battery. TRIBIT does not include a wall charger in the listed package contents: the box contains the speaker, a USB-C-to-USB-C cable, and a manual.

The speaker has a silicone strap and magnetic mounting, giving it more placement options than a speaker that must sit on a flat surface. TRIBIT specifically describes strap mounting on handlebars. The magnet can also help attach it to suitable metal surfaces; Tom’s Guide calls the magnet useful for mounting.

TRIBIT lists IP68 dust and water protection and says the speaker passed a 1.22 m drop test. Those are a protection rating and a manufacturer-reported test claim, not a guarantee against every accident, impact, or exposure. Check that a mounting surface is secure and appropriate before relying on the speaker during movement.
What are the app, calls, and pairing options?
The speaker supports app-based EQ and TWS pairing. Tom’s Guide reports six EQ presets plus a custom nine-band EQ, while What Hi-Fi? finds the app straightforward but not especially deep. TechRadar reports that the built-in microphone sounded clear during its test.

TWS stereo pairing requires two StormBox Micro 3 speakers. What Hi-Fi? says a Micro 2 and Micro 3 cannot be paired together for this function, and that pairing is limited to two speakers of the same generation.
Who should consider it—and what are the trade-offs?
- Consider it if you want a compact speaker that can strap to a bike or bag, attach magnetically to a suitable surface, and provide sound for outdoor listening.
- Consider it if reverse charging would be useful when you are away from an outlet and are willing to spend some speaker battery to power another device.
- Think carefully if the lowest possible carry weight matters: the listed weight is 0.73 lb, and Tom’s Guide considers it somewhat heavy for its size.
- Think carefully if you are sensitive to bright or hard upper frequencies, since What Hi-Fi? reports occasional hardness in that range.
- Check compatibility if you already own a different-generation speaker and expect to use TWS stereo pairing; the Micro 3 pairs with another Micro 3, not a Micro 2.
Verdict
The StormBox Micro 3’s strongest case is practical: a strap, magnetic mounting, claimed outdoor protection, and reverse charging accompany sound reviewers find substantial for its compact size. Its main compromises are the weight for its dimensions, a reported tendency toward upper-frequency hardness, and a battery-life figure that applies at 50% volume with default EQ. At TRIBIT’s listed $64.99 USD price, it is worth considering if those mounting and utility features match how you listen; check the current price before buying.
