The Shark Matrix Plus creates its first home map during an app-guided Explore Run. Set it up in SharkClean, charge it, prepare the rooms so it can move through them, and follow the app’s prompts. Once the map is available, you can use app controls for room or spot cleaning, schedules, no-go zones and carpet zones. For mopping, the RV2600WA guide requires an Explore Run with the pad plate removed, followed by carpet-zone setup and verification.

Which Shark Matrix Plus instructions apply to your robot?

Shark’s support materials list an owner’s guide and quick start guide for the RV2600WA Series Matrix Plus 2-in-1. Shark’s product listing identifies a Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Self-Empty XL as model RV2610WA. These identifiers refer to related products, but the suffix matters: the mapping procedure below follows the RV2600WA Owner’s Guide, and a feature or part may not apply to every model in the family.

Before following model-specific directions or buying replacement parts, check the label on your robot and select the guide for that exact model. In particular, verify compatibility for reusable microfiber mop pads rather than assuming a pad listed for one Matrix Plus suffix fits another.

How does the Shark Matrix Plus map a home?

Its initial map is made during an Explore Run started through the SharkClean app. The run lets the robot explore the accessible floor plan; it is not a guarantee that every room will be represented perfectly after a single attempt. The RV2600WA Owner’s Guide describes the instruction this way: “After setup is complete, follow instructions in the app to help your robot conduct an Explore Run to create an initial map of your home.”

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Prepare the home before starting: a robot cannot explore a room it cannot enter, and loose cords or small objects can obstruct its route. Leave the base where it is during the run. After mapping, the app’s map controls support room or spot selection for Matrix Clean, schedules, no-go zones and carpet zones. App screens and labels can change with software versions, so use the prompts shown in the installed SharkClean app rather than relying on a guessed menu path.

Before you start the first mapping run

Complete setup and charge the robot

Finish the device setup directed by SharkClean and put the robot on its base. The RV2600WA Owner’s Guide says to fully charge it before its first cleaning so it has the opportunity to explore, map and clean as much of the home as possible. The guide says a full charge may take up to six hours; this is the manufacturer’s instruction, not a guarantee for every battery condition or charge cycle.

Make the floor plan accessible

  • Open interior doors to let the robot reach more of the home during exploration.
  • Pick up cords and small objects under 4.5 inches high, following the height guidance in the RV2600WA Owner’s Guide.
  • Think about areas the robot should not enter. The guide recommends using no-go zones for those places once the map controls are available.

Shark describes the Matrix Plus as using 360-degree LiDAR mapping. That is the manufacturer’s product description; it should not be read as a promise that every layout, threshold or obstacle will be handled successfully. The practical goal of preparation is to give the robot a clear route through the areas you want represented.

Run Explore Run and preserve the map

  1. Open SharkClean after device setup. Follow the app’s current instructions for the initial Explore Run; the guide does not establish a universal sequence of app-screen names that applies to every app version.
  2. Start the Explore Run. Allow the robot to explore the home with the doors open and the route cleared. Treat this as a mapping exploration, not as confirmation that every room or boundary has been captured exactly as intended.
  3. Leave the robot and base in place. Do not relocate either during a cleaning run. The Owner’s Guide warns that moving the dock can interfere with navigation and may mean that remapping is needed.
  4. Review the map controls in the app. Use the available map features to select rooms or spots, make a schedule, and define no-go or carpet zones where appropriate. Follow the installed app’s prompts because screens and labels may vary.

If the robot cannot safely cross a threshold, the guide advises excluding that area with a no-go zone rather than expecting it to cross. The guide also gives particular advice for rugs and runners near stairs, including an eight-inch measurement with an exception for rugs that continue over the edge. Because stair and rug placement affect fall risk, consult the exact diagram and wording in the guide for your model and layout instead of applying that number without its exception.

Choose the right cleaning mode after mapping

Whole-home vacuuming

For a general vacuuming run, press CLEAN on the robot or start cleaning in the app. The guide describes a pattern that cleans along the perimeter and then proceeds in rows. This is the whole-home option; use it when you want a general pass rather than directing the robot to a particular mapped area.

Room or spot cleaning

Once a map exists, choose a room or spot in the app for Matrix Clean. Shark’s product page describes Matrix Clean as an app-based cleaning feature; use the controls shown for your model and app version to choose the intended area.

The RV2600WA guide also describes a manual spot clean for an area of approximately five by five feet: place the robot at the spot and hold CLEAN for five to seven seconds. These are the guide’s instructions for that manual spot-clean method, not a substitute for selecting a mapped room in the app. Confirm the control on your unit’s matching guide if its buttons or model suffix differ.

Vacuuming versus mopping

The product is described by Shark as a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop with sonic mopping. Vacuuming and mopping are not interchangeable setup choices: the RV2600WA guide imposes mapping and carpet-protection steps before a mop run. Complete the map first, establish which carpeted areas must be excluded, and then prepare the mop setup as described below.

What must be done before a mop run?

  1. Map first with the pad plate removed. The RV2600WA Owner’s Guide says the robot must complete Explore Run before mopping and specifies that the pad plate is removed for that run.
  2. Set up carpet protection in the app. Configure Carpet Zones on the map so carpeted areas are avoided in mop mode.
  3. Run Carpet Verification. The guide calls for verification of the carpet zones. Complete the app’s verification process rather than treating zone setup alone as proof that all carpet is excluded.
  4. Clear obstructions from the floors to be mopped. Remove rugs or mats that block access to the hard floors you want the robot to mop.
  5. Attach the mop setup and start the mop run. Follow the app and matching owner’s guide for the controls on your model.

The order matters: mapping with the pad plate removed is a stated prerequisite, not merely a convenient preference. Likewise, a carpet zone is a map setting for mop-mode avoidance; it does not physically remove a rug that obstructs a floor the robot needs to reach.

Set boundaries for places the robot should avoid

The guide describes app-based no-go zones for areas the robot should not enter and carpet zones for protecting carpeted areas during mopping. Use the relevant map control for the job rather than treating the two settings as identical: a no-go zone excludes an area from entry, while a carpet zone identifies carpet for mop-mode avoidance.

Consider a no-go zone where a threshold cannot be crossed safely or where access is undesirable. For mopping, mark the carpeted areas and complete Carpet Verification before attaching the mop setup. The exact app menu path is not established across current software versions, so follow the installed app’s instructions and check that the intended map area is selected.

What to do if the map or route is incomplete

  • A room is missing from the map: Check whether its door was open and whether cords or small objects blocked entry during exploration. The guide recommends opening interior doors and clearing low objects to improve access; it does not promise that every map will be complete in one Explore Run.
  • Navigation changes after moving the base: Restore the dock and robot to their intended locations. The guide warns that moving the base during cleaning can interfere with navigation and may require remapping.
  • A threshold is not crossed safely: Do not rely on the robot to cross it. Use a no-go zone for the area the guide says it cannot safely cross.
  • A rug is in the mop route: Remove rugs or mats that block the floor to be mopped, and configure and verify carpet zones for carpeted areas.
  • An app label or screen differs: Follow the prompts in your installed SharkClean version and refer to the guide matching the model label on the robot. The documented feature names are not a guarantee that every software version presents identical screens.

Mapping data and manufacturer claims

Shark’s connected-device privacy notice, as surfaced in the company’s search results, says LiDAR mapping supports room selection and no-go zones in SharkClean and that robot mapping data is sent to the app. The notice page redirected when accessed, so this is a limited attribution to Shark’s notice rather than a full account of retention, sharing or privacy settings. Consult Shark’s current connected-device notice and the app’s privacy information for those details.

Shark’s product listing also presents performance and filtration figures. Those are manufacturer claims, and the available product-page information does not establish a publication date for them; they are not independent test results. They are not needed to complete mapping or choose a cleaning mode.
