Yes, the community The Last Guardian PC port should run on a Steam Deck OLED with SteamOS 3.9.2: the project provides a Linux x86-64 build for SteamOS 3.6 or newer. Its documented dependable target is 30 frames per second, matching the PS4 version. A 60 FPS mode exists, but remains experimental, and there is no controlled Steam Deck OLED benchmark proving that it can sustain 60 FPS.
What the new PC port actually is
HayatoG’s tlg_pc is a community port of the PS4 version of The Last Guardian. It runs the original game code natively rather than using a CPU emulator and translates the PS4 graphics path to Vulkan. The project supports Linux and Windows, controllers, mouse and keyboard input, and game saves.
This is not a commercial PC release supplied with game data. The project states that players must use their own PS4 copy, dumped from their own console. The required title is PS4 CUSA03627 with update 01.03.

| Mode | Status | What the project establishes |
|---|---|---|
| 30 FPS | Stable target | Designed to match the original PS4 behavior. |
| 60 FPS | Experimental | Available as an option, but still being tested; no Steam Deck OLED benchmark is reported. |
| Unlocked frame rate | Experimental | Available for testing, without a guaranteed frame rate or frame-time result. |
Will SteamOS 3.9.2 run it?
The Linux build is listed for SteamOS 3.6 or newer, so SteamOS 3.9.2 meets the stated software requirement. However, Valve identifies SteamOS 3.9.2 as a Beta and Preview release dated September 25, 2026, not as the stable channel. The release notes describe the update as containing features still being tested and compare its changes with stable SteamOS 3.8.
#1 Best Overall
- 1TB NVMe SSD
- 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass, 7.4" Diagonal display size up to 90Hz refresh rate
- Wi-Fi 6E
- 50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)
- Carrying case with removable liner
Changes that may matter on Deck
SteamOS 3.9.2 includes fixes for VRR frame-limiter behavior, frame-limiter corrections, hidden Wi-Fi networks that failed on the first connection attempt, boot-speed and boot-logo regressions, virtual-keyboard language input, Remote Play, and general security and stability. Those are platform improvements, not game-specific performance measurements. Valve’s notes do not report testing of The Last Guardian.
If you want the least experimental environment, use the stable SteamOS channel and install the port there if your system meets the project’s SteamOS requirement. Moving to Beta or Preview may expose 3.9.2 fixes, but it also introduces the normal risks of pre-release system software.
Does the OLED model perform better than the LCD Deck?
Not as a CPU or GPU tier. Valve says the OLED model was designed to the same performance specification as the LCD model, and Deck Verified ratings apply to both. Therefore, OLED alone is not evidence of a higher frame rate for this port.

| Deck Verified applicability | Ratings apply to both models | Ratings apply to both models |
| Evidence quality for this game | No controlled OLED benchmark supplied | No controlled LCD benchmark supplied |
The OLED display can change how the game looks and feels to its owner, but the available evidence does not establish a game-FPS advantage over LCD. Do not treat an OLED purchase as an upgrade that guarantees 60 FPS.
What performance has actually been demonstrated?
The port documentation reports sessions of more than 10 minutes covering boot, menus, the introduction and gameplay without failures. Its Linux testing is identified on Nobara and Fedora 44, not on a Steam Deck running SteamOS 3.9.2. That makes the result useful as evidence that the port works on Linux, but not as a Deck-specific benchmark.
No cited result provides average FPS, 1% lows, frame-time graphs, power draw, fan speed, temperatures or battery life for either Deck model. Consequently, the honest expectation is a stable 30 FPS mode, while sustained 60 FPS on OLED or LCD remains unverified.

Requirements before installing
- A Steam Deck OLED or LCD running SteamOS 3.6 or newer.
- A Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU; this is a stated port requirement.
- About 25 GB of free storage for the merged game data.
- Your own PS4 dump of CUSA03627 with update 01.03. The project does not include game files.
- The project’s PC graphics guidance recommends 6 GB of VRAM. This is a recommendation for compatible PC hardware, not a Deck-specific performance guarantee.
Installation and first-run checklist
- Confirm the Deck is on SteamOS 3.6 or newer. SteamOS 3.9.2 qualifies, but remember that Valve labels it Beta and Preview software.
- Obtain the Linux x86-64 build of
tlg_pcfrom its project distribution and place it on the Deck. Use only your own legally obtained game dump. - Provide the CUSA03627 update 01.03 data where the port expects it, then keep at least 25 GB free so the merged data can be created.
- Launch the port and select the stable 30 FPS mode first. This gives you the documented reference target before testing experimental options.
- Pair or connect a supported controller. The project documents DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox and 8BitDo support; mouse camera control and key remapping are also available.
- Only after the 30 FPS mode is working, try the experimental 60 FPS or unlocked setting. Judge it by sustained play and frame pacing rather than the menu option alone.
Graphics, controls and saves
The port can output at native 1080p and offers optional SMAA anti-aliasing, RCAS or CAS sharpening, and color controls. It documents controller support for DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox and 8BitDo devices, plus mouse camera input and remapping. Autosave and Continue are supported, so the port does not require a separate save-management workflow.

How to interpret a problem
The game will not start
First check the Linux build, SteamOS version, Vulkan 1.3 support and the required CUSA03627 update 01.03 data. Because no game files ship with the project, an incomplete or mismatched dump is a more relevant check than changing OLED display settings.
The 60 FPS option stutters
That result is consistent with the option’s documented experimental status. Return to the stable 30 FPS mode; neither Valve’s SteamOS 3.9.2 notes nor the port documentation promises a locked 60 FPS on either Deck model.

Wi-Fi or boot behavior changes after updating
SteamOS 3.9.2 specifically addresses first-attempt failures with hidden Wi-Fi networks and several boot regressions. If those issues persist, remember that 3.9.2 is a Beta/Preview build and consider the stable channel rather than treating the game port as the cause.
Bottom line
Steam Deck OLED is a viable platform for the new The Last Guardian PC port under the project’s stated SteamOS requirements. Plan around 30 FPS, use your own PS4 CUSA03627 update 01.03 dump, and regard 60 FPS as an experiment. OLED and LCD share the documented performance specification, so the evidence does not justify claiming that OLED runs this game faster.
