Talabat riders in the UAE can open a du Pay wallet if they are over 18, are UAE citizens or residents, hold a valid Emirates ID, and have an active UAE mobile number. You do not have to be a du subscriber, and du Pay does not state that a bank account is required to open the wallet.
That explains how to create and use the wallet, not how Talabat pays riders. The available du Pay material describes general eligibility, funding, card, transfer and bill-payment features; it does not confirm that Talabat requires, recommends or uses du Pay for rider earnings. Check your current Talabat onboarding instructions or contact Talabat rider support before treating du Pay as a payout method.
What you need before opening du Pay
du Pay’s stated eligibility rules are straightforward, but every requirement matters because the app verifies your identity during registration.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- You must be a UAE citizen or resident and over 18.
- You need a valid Emirates ID.
- You need an active UAE mobile number that can receive SMS messages.
- You do not need a du mobile subscription. du Pay says it is available to mobile users across UAE networks.
- You do not need a bank account merely to open the wallet.
Use the same mobile number you expect to keep available for wallet notifications and verification. If your Emirates ID has expired, or the number cannot receive SMS messages, resolve that issue before starting. The official process requires images of both sides of the ID and a facial scan, so have the physical document available and complete the checks in good lighting.

- Gift Cards are shipped active and ready for use.
- This card is non-reloadable. No cash or ATM access. Funds do not expire. If available funds remain on your card after the valid thru date has passed, please call customer service for a replacement card. A one-time purchase fee applies at the time of checkout. No fees after purchase.
- To access your card information safely, type the complete website address shown on your Gift Card (MyGift.GiftCardMall.com) directly into your browser's address bar. Don't use search engines or shortened versions of the website address, as these may lead you to fake or fraudulent sites. Do not provide any Gift Card details (example: Card Number) to someone you do not know or trust. If you believe you've reached an illegitimate website, contact cardholder service at 1-888-524-1283. Be cautious of phishing sites, there are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
- To report your Lost or Stolen Physical Visa Card, call Customer Service 24/7 at 1 (888) 524-1283 to cancel your Gift Card as soon as you can. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
- Use your Visa Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, including online.
How to open a du Pay wallet
- Prepare an active UAE number. Confirm that the SIM is working and can receive an SMS verification code. The number is used for registration and wallet interactions.
- Install the official du Pay app. Download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Open the app after installation and follow the registration option.
- Enter your mobile number. Submit the UAE number and enter the SMS verification code sent to it.
- Create the wallet PIN. The registration instructions describe setting a four-digit PIN during this stage. Follow the app’s current prompts and confirm the PIN when requested.
- Scan your Emirates ID. Capture the front and back of the valid ID as directed. Keep the document flat, fully visible and free from glare so the details can be read.
- Complete the facial scan. Follow the on-screen positioning and lighting instructions. This is part of the identity check, not an optional profile photo.
- Finish account setup. Complete any remaining prompts and confirm the PIN or other security step if the app asks you to do so. du Pay says the wallet account opens once the process is complete.
Do not promise yourself a particular approval time. The cited registration instructions explain the steps but do not establish a guaranteed review period or successful approval in every case. If the app cannot read the ID or facial scan, retry under the conditions it requests rather than repeatedly submitting blurred images.
Does a Talabat rider need a du number or bank account?
No du mobile subscription is stated as a prerequisite. du Pay says users on mobile networks across the UAE can register with a working UAE mobile number. A bank account is also not required to open the wallet.
A bank account can still be useful later. One of the funding routes uses a wallet IBAN and a UAE bank transfer, so a rider who wants to move money from a bank account—or receive a transfer from a payer that supports this method—will need the relevant bank-account details on the sending side. That is different from requiring a bank account for registration.
These wallet rules do not establish a Talabat policy. If a Talabat screen, contract or support agent instructs you to provide a particular bank or wallet account, follow that current Talabat instruction and verify the account details before sending them.

How to add money to du Pay
du Pay lists three funding channels. The best choice depends on whether you already have a UAE bank account or card, whether you are carrying cash, where supported locations are available, and what fee or minimum the app currently displays.
UAE bank transfer to your wallet IBAN
- Open the du Pay app and choose the bank-account funding option.
- Display the wallet IBAN and other account details shown by the app.
- Give those details to the person or organization sending the money, or use them from your own UAE bank account.
- Ask the sender to check the beneficiary details carefully before confirming the transfer.
- Check the du Pay balance and transaction history after the transfer is processed.
This route can be practical when a payer supports bank transfers and you do not want to visit a cash-in location. The help material does not provide a universal processing-time promise, so do not assume that a transfer will appear immediately. Keep the transfer receipt and the displayed IBAN until the balance is visible.
Cash at a supported kiosk or ATM
- Open the app and use its location finder to identify a supported cash-in kiosk or ATM.
- At the location, select du Pay Add Funds.
- Enter the mobile number connected to the wallet and the amount you want to deposit.
- Insert or deposit the cash as instructed by the machine.
- Wait for the SMS confirmation and then check the wallet balance in the app.
The help article gives NT Payments, iPay, MBME and UPay as examples in the kiosk network. Availability can vary by location, so rely on the app’s current list rather than travelling to an unlisted machine. Keep the cash-in receipt until the SMS confirmation and balance update are complete.

UAE-issued debit or prepaid card
- Open the app’s Add Funds via debit card flow.
- Link an eligible UAE-issued debit or prepaid card when prompted.
- Enter the amount and complete the card verification steps.
- Confirm that the wallet balance and transaction record show the top-up.
du Pay’s cited help article states an AED 50 minimum for this card-funding option. That is a minimum for the stated route, not a claim that every other funding channel has the same minimum. Fees and acceptance can change, so review the amount shown in the app before confirming.

Which funding method fits your situation?
| Method | What you need | Useful when | Important checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| UAE bank transfer | A wallet IBAN and a sending UAE bank account | A payer or your own bank can send electronically | Copy the displayed IBAN accurately; processing time is not guaranteed by the cited help instructions |
| Cash-in kiosk or ATM | Cash, your wallet mobile number and a supported location | You have cash and need a listed nearby location | Availability is location-dependent; wait for the SMS confirmation; examples include NT Payments, iPay, MBME and UPay |
| UAE-issued debit or prepaid card | An eligible card that can be linked in the app | You already use a UAE card and prefer in-app funding | The cited article states an AED 50 minimum; check current fees and card acceptance before confirming |
Funding a wallet and being paid by Talabat are separate questions. A successful top-up proves only that the selected du Pay funding channel worked; it does not show that Talabat has connected its rider-payment system to your wallet.
How to receive money through du Pay
The general du Pay help material says a user can receive money from UAE bank accounts or other du Pay users. For a bank transfer, open the funding or account-details area in the app and share the displayed IBAN and account information with the intended sender. For a transfer from another du Pay user, use the recipient details requested by the app and verify the mobile number before confirmation.
Do not send an IBAN or wallet number through an unverified message claiming to represent Talabat. Compare the request with your current rider agreement or the official support channel. If the payer says a name, account number or reference must match, ask support to confirm the exact requirement before you accept a transfer.
What you can do with the wallet
du Pay’s general help page lists several wallet functions:

- Cards are shipped active and ready for use.
- This card is non-reloadable. No cash or ATM access. Funds do not expire. If available funds remain on your card after the valid thru date has passed, please call customer service for a replacement card. A one-time purchase fee applies at the time of checkout. No fees after purchase.
- Double check if the URL/website is genuine before entering card details online. Do not provide any gift card details (example: claim code) to someone you do not know or trust. There are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
- If you believe that your Card has been lost or stolen, notify Mastercard immediately by calling 1-833-791-7288. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
- Use your Mastercard Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including online. Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase Mastercard gift cards.
- Send international remittances.
- Send money to UAE mobile numbers.
- Receive money from UAE bank accounts or du Pay users.
- Top up mobile services.
- Pay bills for supported entities.
Whether a particular biller, mobile service or remittance destination is available depends on the options shown in your account. The existence of these features does not indicate that they are connected to Talabat’s rider platform.
Using the du Pay card for purchases and cash withdrawals
The du Pay card help page says the card can be used for local or international online purchases, in-person payments and ATM withdrawals. Those are general card capabilities; an ATM or merchant may apply its own acceptance rules or charges.
Activate and view the digital card
- Request digital-card activation in the du Pay app.
- Complete the activation prompt. du Pay says the digital card activates instantly after the user requests activation.
- Enter the wallet MPIN when the app asks to reveal card information.
- Use the displayed card number, expiry information and CVV for an online merchant that accepts the card.
Protect the CVV and card details like cash. Do not share them with a person claiming to arrange rider payments, and do not save them in an untrusted form.

du Pay says its card can be added to Google Wallet after you accept the terms and complete OTP verification. Its help page says Apple Pay and Samsung Pay are not currently supported. Availability can change, so check the card controls in the current app if a mobile-wallet option is missing.

Fees and limits: figures dated to the 1 December 2025 statement
The du Pay Key Facts Statement (KFS) updated 1 December 2025 lists the following figures. They are dated product information, not a guarantee that the same limits or fees will apply indefinitely.
| Item | Published figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum permitted wallet balance | AED 150,000 | Listed by du Pay in the KFS updated 1 December 2025 |
| Monthly wallet credit limit | AED 25,000 | Listed by du Pay in the same dated KFS |
| Monthly wallet debit limit | AED 25,000 | Listed by du Pay in the same dated KFS |
| Domestic bank transfer fee | AED 4 | Stated as applying from 1 January 2026 in the KFS updated 1 December 2025 |
The KFS also describes other transaction and card limits, but a general limit should not be treated as the limit for a particular rider payment, cash withdrawal or card transaction without checking the current terms. Before making a transfer or top-up, open the applicable fee screen or the latest key-facts document and confirm the amount. Funding options, transaction charges and account limits are different questions; a wallet can offer a funding route without that route being free.
Check the balance without creating an ATM fee
du Pay says the wallet balance and card balance are the same. It recommends checking the balance in the app because an ATM balance inquiry can incur a charge from the ATM operator’s bank. For routine checks, use the in-app balance and transaction history instead of inserting the card solely to ask an ATM for the balance.
Keep the wallet and card credentials separate
The wallet MPIN and card PIN are separate codes. du Pay recommends using different combinations. Do not reuse the wallet PIN as the card PIN, and avoid obvious sequences or numbers that another person could infer from your phone or identity documents.
- Keep the phone, SIM and app login under your control.
- Never disclose an SMS verification code, wallet MPIN, card PIN or CVV to a caller or message sender.
- Review the recipient mobile number or IBAN before confirming a transfer.
- Keep your profile documents current when the app requests an update.
- Save receipts for cash deposits and transfers until the balance and transaction status agree.
du Pay’s key-facts document warns that service can be restricted or suspended for compliance issues, suspected fraudulent or unauthorized activity, repeated payment failures or misuse. That is the provider’s stated account policy, not a prediction that a particular rider’s account will be suspended.
Troubleshooting common setup and funding problems
The SMS code does not arrive
- Confirm that the UAE number entered in the app is the number in the phone.
- Check mobile coverage and whether the SIM can receive ordinary SMS messages.
- Wait for the app’s resend option instead of submitting multiple different numbers.
- If the number has changed, use the provider’s current support process rather than attempting to register duplicate profiles.
The Emirates ID scan fails
- Use the valid, unexpired physical ID.
- Place it on a flat, contrasting surface and remove glare.
- Capture all four corners and both sides without cropping.
- Allow the app to focus before taking each image.
The facial scan fails
- Use even lighting and remove anything that obscures the face.
- Follow the movement and framing prompts exactly.
- Hold the phone steady and repeat only when the app requests another attempt.
A cash deposit is not reflected
- Keep the kiosk or ATM receipt.
- Wait for the promised SMS confirmation rather than making a second deposit immediately.
- Compare the mobile number and amount printed on the receipt with your wallet details.
- Use the current du Pay support route with the receipt if the confirmation or balance does not appear.
A card top-up is declined
- Check that the card was issued in the UAE and is eligible for the in-app route.
- Confirm that the attempted amount meets the cited AED 50 minimum.
- Check the card issuer’s approval, available balance and online-payment controls.
- Review the final fee and confirmation screen before trying again.
A transfer has not arrived
- Recheck the recipient IBAN or mobile number against the details displayed in du Pay.
- Ask the sender to confirm the transaction reference and beneficiary information.
- Do not assume the transfer is immediate; the cited instructions do not provide a universal processing-time guarantee.
- Contact the relevant provider with the reference if the status remains unresolved.
How a rider can use du Pay responsibly
- Confirm that you meet du Pay’s age, residency, Emirates ID and mobile-number requirements.
- Open the wallet and complete SMS, ID, facial and PIN steps in the app.
- Choose a funding route based on the money source: bank transfer, supported cash location or UAE-issued card.
- Check the current fee and limit shown for that exact transaction type.
- Use the wallet for supported transfers, remittances, top-ups, bills and card purchases only after verifying the recipient or merchant.
- Check balances in the app, keep MPIN and card PIN different, and retain transaction evidence.
- Separately confirm with Talabat whether du Pay is accepted for rider payments and what account details, if any, must be supplied.
What to verify with Talabat before relying on du Pay for earnings
No reviewed official du Pay material confirms a Talabat partnership, a rider-only wallet setup or a salary arrangement. Before redirecting any expected earnings, ask Talabat through its current rider onboarding or support channel:
- Does Talabat currently pay riders into du Pay wallets in the UAE?
- If yes, is du Pay optional or required?
- Which identifier should be submitted: mobile number, wallet IBAN or another account detail?
- Are there payout schedules, minimum amounts, supported emirates or account-name matching rules?
- Who handles a failed, reversed or delayed payout—Talabat or du Pay?
Until those questions are answered by an authoritative Talabat source, treat du Pay as a general UAE wallet that a rider may choose to open, not as a confirmed Talabat payment channel.
