The short version: Squad is won by coordinated squads, not isolated kills. Stay near your squad marker, communicate through the correct voice channel, move construction and ammunition supplies to forward operating bases (FOBs), and treat every death, radio and vehicle as a ticket decision. Construction supplies create spawn bunkers, repair points and fortifications; ammunition keeps soldiers, vehicles and emplacements fighting. A FOB radio defines the operating area, while a HAB or Hideout is the spawn bunker built inside it.
The exact ticket economy and some spawn rules vary by game mode, map, server settings and updates. Use the ticket panel on the full-screen map for the values in your match.
What Squad expects from a new player
The Squad Wiki describes Squad as “an online, team-based, military themed first-person-shooter created and developed by Offworld Industries. The game encourages high levels of teamwork and communication.” That description is more than a genre label: the game’s objectives, spawning and resource systems all reward coordinated decisions.
Join a squad with a clear task and tell the squad leader that you are new. Choose a role the squad needs rather than taking a specialist role automatically. Stay close enough to the squad marker to support assaults, defenses and revives. Use local voice chat for people nearby and squad voice chat for information intended for your fireteam. A useful contact report is short and specific: direction, distance, landmark and activity, such as “enemy machine gun, east side of the compound, 100 meters.”

Ask before taking a logistics truck, helicopter or high-value combat vehicle. Those vehicles are team assets, not personal transport, and losing one can remove many more tickets than an ordinary infantry death.
How communication and squad movement work
Stay with the squad’s plan
The squad leader’s marker indicates where your group can provide the most value. If the squad is attacking, move with the group, hold sectors and revive when the area is reasonably secure. If it is defending, watch likely approaches, report contacts and avoid wandering into a separate fight that cannot be supported.
Use the right voice channel
- Local chat: coordinate with players who can hear you in the immediate area, including nearby squads.
- Squad chat: pass contacts, status updates and requests to your squad leader and squadmates.
- Command communication: use it only when your role and squad structure permit it; keep the channel clear for information leaders need.
Do not fill a channel with continuous narration. Report what changes a decision: a radio location, an enemy vehicle, a blocked route, a cleared building or a need for ammunition.

What logistics supplies do
The logistics system lets a team build and maintain a network of FOBs by delivering two separate resources in bulk. The Logistic System page defines the purpose this way: “Logistics enables teams to deploy and maintain a network of forward operating bases (or ‘FOBs’) by providing construction and ammunition supplies in bulk.”
Construction supplies
Construction points pay for deployables. The most important beginner example is a spawn bunker: a HAB for conventional factions or a Hideout for unconventional factions. Construction also supports ammunition crates, repair stations and defensive fortifications. A FOB without construction cannot provide the full infrastructure the team expects from it.

Ammunition supplies
Ammunition points resupply infantry weapons, vehicles and emplacements. A position may have a working spawn but still be combat-ineffective if its ammo is empty. Infantry squads should call for ammunition before a prolonged defense or attack, rather than waiting until every rifle and anti-vehicle asset is dry.
How to run a logistics delivery
Every logistics run follows the same loop: load, travel, enter the correct transfer area, unload the requested mix, then return or safely recover the vehicle. The precise quantities depend on the vehicle and the squad leader’s plan.

Ask the squad leader which FOB needs supplies, whether construction or ammunition is the priority, and how the load should be split. Do not guess the ratio.
- Announce the run. Tell the squad that you are taking the logistics vehicle, identify the destination and state the requested supply mix. This prevents two drivers from duplicating one trip while another FOB receives nothing.
- Load at main or transfer from another FOB. The current logistics system supports both routes. At main, load the supplies available there. For a transfer, use an existing FOB that has stock and permission to transfer it.
- Use the correct transfer radius. The vehicle must be inside the relevant FOB construction radius, or inside the map-specific transfer range at main. Being visually near a radio is not enough if the vehicle is outside the active radius.
- Drive or fly safely. Avoid predictable roads when the enemy is watching, but do not take an unnecessary route that leaves the vehicle exposed for longer. Keep the squad informed if the route is blocked or the vehicle is damaged.
- Unload the requested supplies. Confirm that the destination is the intended FOB and that the vehicle is in the transfer area before unloading. If the leader changes priorities, adjust the mix rather than emptying supplies at a convenient but unneeded location.
- Report completion. Say what was delivered and whether the vehicle is returning, being hidden for a later run or being recovered. A logistics vehicle abandoned near an enemy objective is both lost capability and a potential ticket loss.
For a new player, this is one of the safest high-impact jobs: ask for a precise request, make one deliberate delivery and communicate when it is complete.
FOB, radio, HAB and rally: the differences
FOB: the operating area
A FOB is the radio-centered operating area. The radio establishes the team infrastructure around it; it is not itself the infantry spawn bunker. Deployables are placed within a 150-meter build radius of the FOB radio, which is why radio placement determines where a team can construct spawns, ammunition points, repairs and fortifications.
Radio: the critical anchor
The radio is the asset that defines and sustains the FOB. If enemies locate and destroy it, the team loses the FOB and pays a substantial ticket cost under common rules. Protect radios with concealment, nearby defenders and observation of likely flanking routes. A visible radio with no fallback plan is an invitation to a costly attack.

HAB or Hideout: the persistent spawn
Once a spawn bunker is built, the FOB gains an active team spawn. Conventional factions use a HAB; unconventional factions use a Hideout. It is a persistent spawn while active, unlike a rally’s temporary squad-level function. A HAB is not indestructible: enemies can pressure it, disable spawning and attack the radio supporting it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRally point: the squad’s temporary spawn
A rally is a squad-level temporary spawn that uses a wave system. It is useful for the squad’s immediate regroup or for creating a fallback when the main FOB is threatened. Because it is temporary and local to the squad, it should not be treated as a replacement for a supplied FOB and active HAB.
When a HAB is under pressure
Enemy pressure can disable spawning at a HAB until the siege condition clears. The documented case uses a 30-second reactivation condition. If the spawn is unavailable, do not repeatedly click it while ignoring the cause: check the map, identify whether enemies are close, use a rally or another FOB if available, and help clear the area only when your squad can do so together.
Tickets: the match resource
The Tickets page states: “Tickets are the win-lose condition in Squad.” In most modes, the first team to reach zero tickets loses. Tickets are consumed by events such as player deaths, destroyed radios and vehicle losses; some modes also award or remove tickets for objectives and other conditions.
The following are current common guidance values listed by the Official Squad Wiki for 2026 access. They are not universal constants: balance updates, game modes, maps and server rules can change them. Check the in-game ticket panel before making a high-risk decision.

| Event | Common ticket value | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Infantry loss | 1 ticket | A single death is small, but repeated unsupported attacks create a large drain. |
| Commander loss | 2 tickets | A commander’s death costs more than a standard infantry loss. |
| FOB radio destroyed | 20 tickets | Protecting the radio is a major strategic responsibility. |
| Light vehicle, transport, logistics vehicle, helicopter or cheap APC lost | 5 tickets | Abandoning or needlessly exposing support vehicles is expensive. |
| APC, IFV, artillery vehicle or AT light vehicle lost | 10 tickets | Coordinate these assets and avoid solo engagements. |
| Main battle tank lost | 15 tickets | A failed attack can cost the team many infantry deaths plus a high-value vehicle. |
These numbers explain why a statistically impressive personal kill count does not guarantee a win. A squad that repeatedly loses radios, logistics trucks or armored vehicles can lose the ticket race while winning local firefights.
How to make ticket-aware decisions
Before you push
- Check whether a rally, HAB or alternate FOB can provide a safer route than a frontal run.
- Ask whether the squad has enough ammunition and whether a revive is possible.
- Wait for teammates, smoke, vehicle support or a coordinated breach instead of entering alone.
After you are wounded
If the area is secure enough, call for a revive rather than giving up immediately. A revive avoids an additional infantry-loss ticket and returns a player to the fight faster. If enemies are on top of the body or the position is being overrun, communicate that a revive is unsafe so medics do not create another casualty.
When using vehicles
High-value vehicles should have a clear task, route and disengagement plan. Do not drive a tank, APC or logistics truck into an objective without infantry support simply because it is available. If a vehicle is damaged or the route is compromised, withdraw, hide it where practical and report its status instead of abandoning it in enemy territory.
When a radio or HAB is threatened
Tell the squad leader immediately, mark the contact and watch likely approaches. A radio loss can cost 20 tickets under the common table, while losing the HAB may cut off the team’s most useful spawn. Keep a rally or alternate FOB available so one breach does not strand the entire attack.

Common new-player problems and fixes
“I cannot build or unload at the FOB.”
Check that the vehicle or builder is inside the FOB’s construction radius, that the radio is active, and that the destination is the intended FOB. For a main-base run, verify the map-specific transfer range. If the squad requested a delivery elsewhere, move to the correct marked location instead of repeatedly trying the wrong one.

“The HAB is visible but I cannot spawn there.”
It may be under enemy pressure or temporarily disabled by the siege condition. Check for enemy presence, wait for the documented reactivation window when the area is clear, or use a rally or another FOB. Tell the squad leader if the HAB remains blocked.
“The team keeps running out of ammunition.”
Request an ammunition delivery before the position reaches zero, identify which FOB needs it and avoid sending multiple uncoordinated trucks. A HAB without ammunition cannot sustain a long defense.
“I keep dying while attacking.”
Move with the squad, wait for a coordinated push and use cover and smoke. Ask for a revive when safe. Check whether the rally or HAB is being attacked; spawning into the same compromised location only repeats the ticket drain.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →“Our FOB disappears and the team loses tickets.”
The radio may have been exposed, left undefended or flanked. Conceal it, place observation around likely approaches, and maintain an alternate rally or FOB. Treat radio defense as a continuous task rather than something to consider only after enemies are inside the HAB.
What to remember
Squad’s systems reinforce one rule: make your action useful to the group. Communicate before moving a team asset, deliver the supplies the FOB actually needs, understand that the radio and spawn bunker serve different purposes, and check the current ticket panel before taking a risk. Staying with the squad and preserving infrastructure will contribute more to a new player’s first wins than chasing isolated kills.
