It proposes moments, prepares captions and vertical framing, and leaves you to check the context, correct errors, and choose what to export. The creator guide cautions that this process cannot guarantee virality.
What ShortMatic does—and what it does not do

This is different from generating a video from a written prompt. ShortMatic proposes candidate moments in existing footage; a creator still needs to decide whether each moment works as a standalone clip and whether its captions and crop are usable. - Let the tool suggest moments. ShortMatic identifies possible short clips from the source. Treat these as candidates, not editorial decisions.

What to check before publishing a suggested clip
- Context: Make sure the clip does not depend on a question, explanation, or visual that was left outside the cut.
- Captions: Read the full caption track against the audio, especially names, technical terms, and short words that can change meaning.
- Crop: Confirm that faces, gestures, demonstrations, and embedded text remain visible throughout the clip.
- Ending: Check that the clip reaches a meaningful conclusion rather than cutting off mid-thought.
- Destination: Review the export for the platform you intend to use; the product page names multiple destinations but does not establish that their publishing requirements are identical.
ShortMatic is not the similarly named text-to-video workflow
There are two similarly named sites in the available material. shortmatic.app describes the long-video clipping and review workflow discussed here. shortmatic.com describes a different process: start with text or audio, generate a script and voiceover, combine it with gameplay or stock visuals and effects, then download or publish. Do not assume that features, pricing, or account details on one domain apply to the other.
How it differs from other short-video workflows
ShortMatic’s own comparison page frames Opus Clip and Munch as clipping tools, while describing CapCut as a general-purpose editor. That is the vendor’s comparison, not an independent evaluation. For a useful choice, focus on the job you need done and how much control you want:

Who should consider this workflow?
It is aimed at someone with long-form footage who wants help finding possible short clips, but still wants to make the editorial call. If you want a system to create a video from text or audio, the shortmatic.app review-queue description is not that workflow. If you prefer to select every cut yourself, a manual editor may offer a better fit.
