Sagent says early adopters of its Dara mortgage-servicing platform are reaching “3x to 4x efficiency.” That figure comes from Sagent CEO Sridhar Sharma in a sponsored HousingWire interview published October 13, 2026. The interview does not define the efficiency measure, baseline, sample, period or calculation, and no independent validation is provided. The claim should therefore be read as a vendor-reported result, not an established industry benchmark.
What Dara is
Dara is Sagent’s enterprise software platform for mortgage servicing. It is designed to combine operating capabilities, servicing data, workflows and interactions in one connected environment rather than leaving teams to coordinate across disconnected systems.
Sagent organizes Dara around loan administration, money management, escrow, investor management, customer service, collections, loss mitigation, foreclosure, bankruptcy, claims, real-estate-owned properties, litigation, workflow, unified documents, intelligence and embedded compliance. Borrowers, attorneys, vendors and other third parties can interact through portals and integrations.
On its current company homepage, Sagent says Dara powers more than $3.2 trillion in “UBP,” supports more than 16 million active loans and processes more than $1.4 billion in monthly payments. These are company-reported scale figures; they do not substantiate the separate 3x-to-4x efficiency statement.
| Metric | Sagent-reported figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| “UBP” powered | More than $3.2 trillion | Current homepage figure accessed October 13, 2026; Sagent’s “UBP” wording is retained. |
| Active loans serviced | More than 16 million | Current homepage figure; reported by Sagent. |
| Monthly payments processed | More than $1.4 billion | Current homepage figure; reported by Sagent. |
What Sagent means by the 3x claim
“We are very confident we can take, and we are already seeing this with some of our early adopters, a servicing operation to 3x to 4x efficiency,” Sharma said. “I’m not talking about a 30 to 40 percent increase.”

The statement does not say whether efficiency means loans handled per employee, processing time, operating cost, error rate, throughput or another measure. It also does not disclose the adopters’ starting point, the number of organizations, the time window or how results were calculated. Readers evaluating the claim should ask Sagent for those definitions and for independently reviewable results before treating the figure as a forecast for a particular servicing operation.
The four capabilities Sagent links to higher efficiency
Connected operations
Sagent’s central argument is that a single servicing environment reduces the handoffs and maintenance burden created by separate systems. Shared data and orchestrated workflows are intended to let servicing, collections, loss mitigation, foreclosure and other functions work from the same operating context. Sharma described the goal this way: “The vision for Dara is one connected platform,” Sharma said. “If you look at what the industry has to deal with today, there is fragmentation across the servicing ecosystem. Dara solves that: One connected platform across the entire lifecycle.”

AI-driven automation
Sharma says Dara was built with AI in mind and can support customers that bring their own AI agents through an MCP layer. The practical promise is to automate repetitive work while retaining the customer’s data context and business rules. He also emphasizes that AI needs operating guardrails, so deployment decisions should cover permitted actions, escalation paths, testing and human review rather than automation volume alone.
Embedded compliance and traceability
Sagent presents compliance as part of the platform instead of a separate control layer. Sharma says every activity is audited, whether it is performed by AI or manually: “Everything that is done inside of Dara, whether you use AI or you do it by hand, it gets audited, so you have full traceability.” That is a company description of the system’s capability; the supplied material does not independently test audit completeness or regulatory outcomes.

Friction-free interactions
Dara’s portals, APIs and integrations are intended to connect borrowers and external participants with servicing staff and data. Sagent says this can improve homeowner experiences and reduce the complexity of linking third-party tools. The value for a particular servicer will depend on existing channels, integration quality, accessibility and how many interactions can be completed without manual re-entry.

Sharma says Dara can ingest a new regulatory document, identify affected functions and let operators change the relevant configuration in days rather than months: “What used to take months, we can now do in days, if not much faster,” Sharma said. This is Sagent’s claim about its change-management approach, not an independently measured implementation result. A buyer should verify which jurisdictions, rules, workflows and approvals are covered, and whether the change history is exportable for an examination.

How to assess the claim for a servicing operation
- Define the denominator. Establish whether efficiency will be measured as cost per loan, loans per employee, cycle time, productivity, quality or a combination.
- Record a baseline. Capture current staffing, volumes, exception rates, error rates, vendor costs and processing times before migration.
- Map the lifecycle. Check whether the proposed deployment covers the functions that create the most handoffs, including escrow, collections, loss mitigation, foreclosure and claims.
- Test controls. Review AI permissions, human approvals, audit logs, retention, reporting and change-management evidence.
- Measure after adoption. Compare like-for-like periods and loan populations, separating platform effects from staffing changes, volume shifts or policy changes.
What the evidence establishes—and what it does not
- Established: Dara is an enterprise mortgage-servicing platform that Sagent positions as a connected system for operations, data, workflows and interactions.
- Established: Sharma publicly attributed a 3x-to-4x efficiency result to some early adopters in the October 13, 2026 sponsored HousingWire interview.
- Not established: the definition, baseline, sample, time period, calculation or independent validation behind that result.
- Established: Sagent reports large servicing scale figures on its homepage.
- Not established: that those scale figures cause or verify the efficiency claim, or that every servicer would achieve the same outcome.
Questions procurement teams should ask
- Which workflows and loan types were included in the early-adopter results?
- What baseline and units produce the “3x to 4x” figure?
- How are AI agents governed through the MCP layer, and which actions require human approval?
- Can auditors retrieve complete records for automated and manual activity?
- What migration, integration and data-conversion work is required for legacy systems?
- How are regulatory updates tested, approved and rolled back?
