Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum Layer 2, not Ethereum mainnet. It uses Arbitrum technology, Ethereum for data availability, ETH for gas, and EVM-compatible wallets, but transfers still depend on the network, token representation, and bridge route you select. The native Ethereum-to-Robinhood route is the canonical bridge: deposits are documented at about 10 minutes, while withdrawals have a roughly seven-day challenge period followed by a separate Ethereum claim transaction. Partner bridges can be faster, but their supported assets, fees, and settlement models differ.

What Robinhood Chain is—and what it is not

Robinhood’s developer documentation describes Robinhood Chain as an Arbitrum Layer 2 built on Ethereum. The chain publishes transaction data availability through Ethereum blobs and uses ETH as its native gas token. Its current mainnet chain ID is 4663. These properties place it in the Ethereum scaling ecosystem, while its execution environment remains a separate network.

That distinction matters whenever you send funds. An Ethereum address beginning with 0x can often be used by the same wallet software on Robinhood Chain, but the address format alone does not select a network. A transaction sent on Ethereum remains on Ethereum; it does not arrive on Robinhood Chain unless you use a supported bridge or service that performs the cross-chain movement.

Robinhood Chain should therefore be compared with Ethereum in two layers:

  • Architecture: it is an Ethereum-secured Layer 2 using Arbitrum technology, rather than an independent Layer 1.
  • Transfers: moving an asset between Ethereum and Robinhood Chain requires a bridge route, with its own timing, token contracts, fees, and settlement assumptions.

Other EVM-compatible networks share familiar wallet and smart-contract conventions, but they do not automatically share liquidity or token contracts with Robinhood Chain. Every transfer interface must be checked for the exact source chain, destination chain, asset and route.

Robinhood Chain versus Ethereum and other EVM networks

Characteristic Robinhood Chain Ethereum mainnet Other EVM-compatible networks
Role Arbitrum Layer 2 built on Ethereum Ethereum’s base Layer 1 Varies: Layer 1s, Layer 2s and sidechains use different security and data models
Wallet compatibility EVM wallets, including Robinhood Wallet; chain ID 4663 Standard EVM wallets Usually EVM wallets, but each network must be added and selected separately
Native gas token ETH ETH Usually the network’s own token, although some Layer 2s also use ETH
Data and security model Uses Ethereum blobs for data availability and Arbitrum’s Layer 2 design Ethereum’s native consensus and execution Depends on the individual network; EVM compatibility does not establish equivalent security
Moving assets to Robinhood Chain Requires the canonical bridge or a supported partner route Acts as the source or destination for bridge transactions Requires a route that explicitly supports both that network and Robinhood Chain
Independent fee benchmark Not stated in the cited official documentation Not stated in the cited official documentation Not stated; fees vary by network and route

No independent, apples-to-apples figures were supplied for transfer fees, finality, throughput or cost across Robinhood Chain, Ethereum and other EVM networks. Avoid treating a bridge’s advertised speed as a network-wide performance comparison.

How the canonical Ethereum bridge works

Robinhood describes its Arbitrum canonical bridge as the default native route between Ethereum and Robinhood Chain. The documentation presents it as trustless and without third-party validators, with security inherited from Ethereum. Its timing is asymmetric: an Ethereum-to-Robinhood deposit is typically about 10 minutes, while a Robinhood-to-Ethereum withdrawal requires a seven-day challenge period and then a claim transaction on Ethereum.

Depositing from Ethereum to Robinhood Chain

  1. Prepare an EVM wallet. Use Robinhood Wallet or another compatible wallet, and make sure it contains the asset you intend to bridge plus enough ETH on Ethereum for approvals and the bridge transaction.
  2. Open the canonical bridge. Select Ethereum as the source network and Robinhood Chain as the destination. Do not rely only on the displayed 0x address; verify both network selectors.
  3. Select the asset and amount. Confirm that the token is supported by the bridge. A token being visible in your wallet does not prove that the canonical bridge accepts it.
  4. Approve the token when prompted. ERC-20 transfers commonly require a separate Ethereum approval transaction before the deposit. Review the spender and amount in your wallet before signing.
  5. Submit the deposit. Sign the bridge transaction on Ethereum and keep its transaction hash. Robinhood’s documentation describes the normal deposit time as about 10 minutes, but congestion, source-chain finality and maintenance can change the actual wait.
  6. Switch to Robinhood Chain and verify receipt. Add or select chain ID 4663 in the wallet, then check the destination balance in the wallet or the Blockscout explorer listed by Robinhood.

Withdrawing from Robinhood Chain to Ethereum

  1. Choose the canonical withdrawal direction. Set Robinhood Chain as the source and Ethereum as the destination, then select the supported token representation held on Robinhood Chain.
  2. Approve and initiate the withdrawal. Sign any required approval and withdrawal transactions. The bridge records the withdrawal and starts its challenge window.
  3. Wait through the challenge period. Robinhood documents this period as about seven days. It is a protocol security window, not an estimate of a few minutes.
  4. Return to the bridge after eligibility. Once the challenge period has passed and the withdrawal is ready, connect the same wallet and select the claim action.
  5. Claim on Ethereum. The claim is a separate Ethereum transaction, so the wallet needs ETH on Ethereum for Layer 1 gas. Until that claim is confirmed, the funds are not available on Ethereum even though the challenge period has ended.

Bridge documentation estimates are not guarantees. Ethereum congestion, a delayed source transaction, wallet connection issues or a contract maintenance event can extend the practical timeline.

Faster partner routes and how they differ

Robinhood’s bridge documentation lists several partner routes that can settle in seconds or minutes, depending in part on source-chain finality. These are not interchangeable versions of the canonical bridge. Some use messaging protocols, some use liquidity providers and intents, and some combine a swap with a bridge.

Route Mechanism described by Robinhood Documented timing What to verify before signing
LayerZero OFT / Stargate Omnichain messaging and token transfers Minutes; varies with source-chain finality Whether the specific asset is an OFT-supported token, the direction, destination representation and total fee
Chainlink CCIP / Transporter Cross-chain messaging and token transfers Minutes; varies with source-chain finality Asset and route availability. Robinhood gives SyrupUSDG as an example, not a universal token list
Relay Intents-based bridge, including bridge-and-execute flows Seconds in the documentation’s estimate Quoted route, execution call, fees, relayer assumptions and the asset ultimately delivered
Across Intents-based bridge using route liquidity Seconds in the documentation’s estimate Supported source and destination, available liquidity, quote expiry and fees
LiFi / 0x Cross-chain aggregators that may combine a swap and a bridge Seconds to minutes in the documentation’s estimate Whether the transaction swaps the asset, the final token received, price impact, bridge component and combined cost

“Seconds” or “minutes” refers to the route description, not a guaranteed completion time. A partner may provide funds from destination liquidity before the source-chain transaction reaches finality, or it may wait for additional confirmations. Read the route details shown at signing and save the source and destination transaction hashes.

Token support and contract addresses

Robinhood’s current crypto-transfer help material names three assets for transfers on Robinhood Chain: Ethereum (ETH), Global Dollar (USDG), and Cash Cat (CASHCAT). This list can change, so check the current in-app network and asset selector immediately before sending.

Bridged ERC-20 tokens do not necessarily keep the same contract address on both chains. Robinhood’s bridging guide states that a bridged token’s contract on Robinhood Chain differs from its Ethereum contract and directs developers to calculate the Layer 2 address through the L2 Gateway Router or consult protocol contracts. For a consumer transfer, select the destination token supplied by the bridge or wallet rather than pasting an Ethereum contract address into a Robinhood Chain transaction.

  • Confirm the token symbol and contract address on the destination chain.
  • Check that the route supports the exact token, not merely a similarly named asset.
  • Send a small test amount when the value or route is unfamiliar.
  • Never assume an asset shown in a wallet is transferable on every bridge.

Connecting a wallet to Robinhood Chain

Robinhood says Robinhood Wallet supports the chain and that EVM wallets can connect. The network settings published in its developer documentation identify chain ID 4663, currency symbol ETH and Blockscout as the explorer. The support material also publishes a public RPC endpoint; use the current endpoint shown there instead of copying an address from an old guide.

  1. Open your wallet’s network settings and choose Add network or Add custom network.
  2. Enter the current Robinhood Chain network name, RPC URL, chain ID 4663, currency symbol ETH and Blockscout explorer URL exactly as shown in Robinhood’s current documentation.
  3. Save the network, switch to it, and verify that the wallet displays the expected ETH balance and chain name.
  4. When bridging, select Robinhood Chain in the bridge interface as well. A wallet switch without a bridge transaction does not move assets between networks.

Robinhood’s support page describes this chain as separate from a user’s Robinhood brokerage or crypto accounts. Having an account or an address on one service does not remove the need to select the network and sign the appropriate on-chain transaction.

Choosing the right route

Use the canonical bridge when security provenance matters most

The canonical route is the clearest choice when you want the native Ethereum-to-Arbitrum Layer 2 path and can tolerate the withdrawal delay. Its documented trust model avoids relying on a separate bridge validator set, but the return trip’s seven-day challenge period makes it unsuitable for urgent withdrawals.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use a partner route when speed is worth additional complexity

A partner route can be practical when the destination asset and route are explicitly supported and the quoted settlement time is important. Compare the delivered token, not just the headline time: an aggregator may swap your asset, a liquidity provider may advance funds, and the route may charge both bridge and swap costs.

Use the route with the clearest recovery path

Before sending a large amount, identify where you will find the source transaction, destination transaction and support instructions. A route that cannot explain whether a transfer is pending source confirmation, waiting for liquidity or ready to claim is harder to troubleshoot than one with a visible state transition.

Costs, timing and what is not established

The official material gives route timing but does not provide a standardized fee schedule or independent benchmark against Ethereum mainnet and other EVM networks. Your total cost can include wallet approval gas, the bridge transaction, destination execution, a partner fee or spread, and—on a canonical withdrawal—the separate Ethereum claim transaction.

Ethereum gas is paid in ETH on Ethereum. Robinhood Chain transactions use ETH as gas on chain ID 4663. A wallet funded only on Robinhood Chain cannot pay the Ethereum claim transaction, so maintain an ETH balance on the chain where the next transaction will be signed.

For planning, treat the documented figures as follows:

  • Canonical deposit: about 10 minutes in Robinhood’s documentation, subject to source-chain finality and congestion.
  • Canonical withdrawal: about seven days for the challenge period, followed by a claim transaction and its Ethereum confirmation.
  • Partner routes: seconds to minutes in route descriptions, with timing dependent on source-chain finality, liquidity and the specific asset.

Common transfer failures and fixes

The balance is missing after bridging

First check that the wallet is connected to Robinhood Chain rather than Ethereum, then verify the destination transaction hash in Blockscout. If the token does not appear, add the verified Robinhood Chain token contract supplied by the bridge. Do not import an Ethereum contract address by assumption.

The bridge says the withdrawal is not claimable

For a canonical withdrawal, confirm that the seven-day challenge period has elapsed and that you are using the same wallet that initiated the withdrawal. If it is eligible, the bridge should expose a claim action; the claim still requires ETH on Ethereum for gas.

The route does not list your token

Do not substitute a similarly named token or send directly to a contract. Check the current Robinhood transfer list and the partner’s supported-asset list. The current Robinhood help page specifically names ETH, USDG and CASHCAT for Robinhood Chain transfers, while partner support can be narrower or different.

The wallet shows the right address but the transaction went to the wrong chain

An identical 0x address can exist on multiple EVM networks. Review the transaction’s network in the wallet history and explorer. If the transaction was confirmed on the wrong chain, recovery depends on whether you control the destination address and whether the receiving application supports that asset; a bridge cannot automatically reverse an ordinary transfer.

Current status and dated launch information

Robinhood announced a public testnet on February 10, 2026, describing Robinhood Chain as an Ethereum Layer 2 built on Arbitrum and saying that mainnet was planned for later in 2026. Current Robinhood help and developer pages now publish mainnet network configuration and canonical bridge instructions. Use those live configuration pages for present-day transfers, while treating the February announcement as historical launch context.

In that announcement, Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s SVP and GM of Crypto and International, said: “The testnet for Robinhood Chain lays the groundwork for an ecosystem that will define the future of tokenized real-world assets and enable builders to tap into DeFi liquidity within the Ethereum ecosystem.” That is a statement of intended purpose, not independent evidence of transfer performance or adoption.

Self-custody and hardware wallets

A hardware wallet can keep signing keys offline while you use an EVM software interface, but compatibility must be checked as a combination of hardware device, wallet application and network. General Ethereum and EVM support does not prove Robinhood Chain support. Confirm that the exact wallet setup can display chain ID 4663, sign Robinhood Chain transactions and recover the destination token before buying a device or transferring funds.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For any self-custody setup, record the seed-recovery procedure, test with a small amount, and keep ETH available on the relevant chain for the transaction you may need to sign next.

Practical decision checklist

  • Are you depositing to Robinhood Chain or withdrawing to Ethereum?
  • Is the asset explicitly supported on that route and in that direction?
  • Have you verified the destination token contract rather than reusing the Ethereum address?
  • Does the route use the canonical bridge, messaging, intents-based liquidity or a swap aggregator?
  • Can you accept about 10 minutes for a canonical deposit or about seven days plus a claim for a canonical withdrawal?
  • Have you included approval gas, bridge fees, swap costs and possible Ethereum claim gas in the total?
  • Is the wallet on the correct network, with ETH available for the next transaction?
  • Have you saved transaction hashes and checked the destination explorer?

The core comparison is straightforward: Robinhood Chain offers an Ethereum-connected, EVM-compatible environment with ETH gas and familiar wallet tooling, but it remains a separate Layer 2. Choose the canonical bridge for the native security path and predictable mechanics, or choose a partner route only after checking its token, direction, settlement model and complete cost. Network selection and token verification matter more than the shared 0x address format.
